Network Exposure Function (NEF) enables third-party application providers utilize the network capabilities and services that the 5G System offers. The 3 rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) provides open standardized Application programming Interfaces (API) through NEF; however, a big gap appears in the market between mobile operators and service providers since no commercial solutions are available. In this context, the NEF’s standardized APIs offered by 3GPP are examined. As a result of this analysis an open-source simulator “NEFSim” is presented. NEFSim realizes the aspects of the NEF and enables application developers to experiment with the northbound APIs under a simulated, configurable environment.

Open source apis for processing the XML result of web services
The aim of this system is to use open source APIs to invoke and process the results of the Web services and to apply confidentiality and integration to the result of the Web services. In this system Web Services are requested using URL (Uniform Resource Locator) query to the WWW instead of SOAP message. When invoking the web services using JAX-RPC (Java Api for Xml-Based Remote Procedure Call) with SOAP request, the result returned may not be received properly due to de-serialization problem of complex XML data sets. Therefore it is required to invoke such services by submitting the query as URL query and received the results as XML data set. This XML data set may be hampered by man-in-middle attack during transfer. Hence this system uses open source APIs for providing XML signature and XML encryption. At the receiver after decryption and integrity check, the required node from XML data set is extracted and presented to the user. This article is focused on usage of open source APIs (Application program interface) for invoking web services as Restful Web services, applying XML signature and XML encryption, parsing the XML result after reverse process at receiver side and extracting the required nodes according to the user given condition. The problem of de-serialization in receiving huge XML result is resolved in the proposed system.

This paper aims to analyze the current context of Application Programming Interface (API) technology, with focus in External API (Public API or Open API) by news organizations. The adoption of API has been considered a technological strategy that introduces innovation processes in media groups. This technological approach allows the public access to data, increase the distribution of journalistic information and transparency which improves the credibility of organizations. However, there is not a pattern strategic in the use of API adopted by news organizations and the external developers have used various technologies, named toolkit, to store, process, analyze and visualize data. The study cases were The New York Times, The Guardian, NPR and, ESPN.

In the rapidly evolving world of open ecosystems, the advent of application programming interfaces (APIs) has transformed how banks and third-party providers interact. This paper explores how innovation and security must be successfully balanced so that end users can seamlessly access new and exciting open banking products and services within a safe and trusted environment. The benefits and impact of APIs are discussed, alongside the role of API standardisation and conformance in mitigating risk. The importance of integrating a bank’s open API strategy within its broader API strategy is emphasised, to maximise value and align with overarching organisational goals. A centralised approach to conformance and the need for robust and efficient trust frameworks are the bedrock of successful open banking ecosystems. Trust, built upon reliability, security and transparency, verifies that rules have been agreed upon and enables their enforcement. Central directories ensure compliance with regulation, streamlining complexities associated with open banking and facilitating secure communication and data exchange between the various participants. The interplay between centralised API conformance and a robust trust framework is explored, highlighting their role in enhancing the integrity of open banking and open data initiatives, with regulators and market infrastructures playing a vital role. They are responsible for mandating open banking and ensuring that safety and security are maintained in this new and interconnected financial landscape. The effective integration of open APIs, the establishment of trust and the commitment to compliance and standardisation all pave the way for a more inclusive and innovative banking experience for all stakeholders.

Public Windows Interface (PWI) is an effort by several computer industry leaders to ensure that the Microsoft Windows application programming interface (API) moves into the world of open systems. By formalizing the existing API as a standard, PWI will provide a snapshot to which developers can refer and upon which they can build their applications. By making PWI an open standard, all parties will have an equal opportunity to compete and to propose future changes. PWI supporters have encouraged Microsoft to submit its complete API to a neutral standards body and to agree to abide by changes and extensions approved by that body. So far, Microsoft has declined to do so. Certain of the technology companies who see the value of creating a formal standard have committed resources to the laborious task of fully and formally documenting the API. These companies will submit the resulting specification to the appropriate neutral standards body upon its completion, where it will be available for all to use at no cost. With PWI as a new standard, users will be able to choose among multiple implementations, leverage their prior investments, and use familiar applications on a host of new devices. Independent software vendors will benefit from a more stable, open API, and will be able to funnel their resources into new development. Systems vendors will broaden the range of applications available for their platforms. In short, PWI will bring the benefits of open systems to the PC world. >

QoS evaluation of prioritized data plane service employing queueing model
Software Defined Networking (SDN) is emerging as a new paradigm in which the control plane is decoupled from the data plane. SDN architectures enable the abstraction of network elements from the chaos of infrastructures to be service resources. The deployment of applications and network services can be largely simplified by taking advantage of the standardized open Application Program Interface (API). In the open literature, many efforts have been taken to evaluate the forwarding performance of the data plane. Jackson model is frequently employed to characterize the feature of such architectures. Further, network traffic frequently exhibits self-similar characteristic that has got a universal recognition. Analytical models without taking the traffic self-similarity into account may lead to unexpected results. To this end, this paper has proposed an analytical model to evaluate the Quality of Service (QoS) of SDN data plane with self-similar input traffic. Priority service is employed in data plane to decrease the sojourn time of the packets not matched. This is because packets traveled across the control plane are more sensitive to stringent delay bound. The QoS of the model can be evaluated by a decomposition approach. Extensive experimental results suggest that our model has a great accuracy and applicability.

This article consists of a collection of slides from the author's PowerPoint conference presentation. The paper argues that the diversity of services and networks, demands a fresh approach to service creation. The authors argue that the Application Programming Interface (API) approach promises to meet many of the demands of service creation in the new environment. Formalising at the level of the API in service creation allows the underlying control structures the flexibility to be ahnost completely proprietary in nature. However it will be argued that the API approach demands new additional structures to make the model commercially viable. This paper examines the requirements of the API server and introduces the notion of an API state-machine. An API server allows third party software providers or end users access to control resources without regard to how the offered services are to be implemented. It must therefore provide the flexibility of service creation with the restriction placed by policing functions to protect against misuse of code or malicious intent The server must also provide access to support infrastructures such as billing systems and management systems. In addition it also needs to be capable of fme grained process control. Hence, the aims of the state machine are complex. The paper describes work being done at UCL in defining a state machine, similar in many respects to that of the Basic Call State Model and the Call Party Handling model but for the API server case. The state machine aims to mask the service on offer from the external requests. It also aims to reduce the interfaces between service providers to a simple state machine view that seeks to eliminates problems such as deadlock or integrity violations between complex multiple service provider interactions. The paper also examines the relationship between API approaches and the TINA framework. It argues that TINA evolution can be pushed forward by an intermediate API stage in development

Web 2.0 has been happening on the fixed Internet side for several years already. This phenomenon has forced traditional Telco operators to consider new business models. One of the possible models is to utilize the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) network architecture. Using the IMS, Telco operators have more control over the data instead of becoming just bit pipes. In addition, operators interest in providing open Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) exposing IMS and network assets has grown. In this paper, a RESTful IMS API implementation, is represented. The design and implementation of the API exposing IMS functionality is shown. In addition, the implementation of a REST application using the API is described.

Although there has been much interest in computational photography within the research and photography communities, progress has been hampered by the lack of a portable, programmable camera with sufficient image quality and computing power. To address this problem, we have designed and implemented an open architecture and application programming interface (API) for such cameras: the Frankencamera. It consists of a base hardware specification, a software stack based on Linux, and an API for C++. Our architecture permits control and synchronization of the sensor and image processing pipeline at the microsecond timescale, as well as the ability to incorporate and synchronize external hardware like lenses and flashes. This paper specifies our architecture and API, and it describes two reference implementations we have built. Using these implementations, we demonstrate several computational photography applications: high dynamic range (HDR) viewfinding and capture, automated acquisition of extended dynamic range panoramas, foveal imaging, and inertial measurement unit (IMU)-based hand shake detection. Our goal is to standardize the architecture and distribute Frankencameras to researchers and students, as a step toward creating a community of photographer-programmers who develop algorithms, applications, and hardware for computational cameras.

Twitter is a social media (SM) platform that rapidly generates electronic word of mouth (e-WOM). Marketer-generated content (MGC) is controllable and could enhance the positive e-WOM. Hence, in this study, the author examined the characteristics of MGC and reactions from followers based on Thai banks' Twitter accounts. The author collected a total of 10,000 tweets from nine banks in Thailand—both high- and low-performing banks. The author conducted research with natural language processing (NLP) to uncover intents using an open application programming interface (API). The author used three data-mining techniques—association, clustering, and classification. The Twitter strategies of banks with high and low performances are quite similar. The sentiment is the intent type that dominates Thai banks' intent strategies. Several intents could be combined to draw e-WOM in terms of favorites (FAV) and retweets (RT). Six intent patterns (clusters) were extracted. Some of these clusters are classifiers for FAV and non-FAV tweets. This study guides the application of data mining in business research and suggests MGC strategies for marketers.

Effectively querying unstructured text information in large databases is a highly demanding task. Conventional approaches, such as an exact match or fuzzy search, return valid and thorough results only when the user query adequately matches the wording within the text or the query is included in keyword-tag lists. The GEOSS portal relies on conventional search tools for data and services exploration and retrieval, limiting its capacity. This challenge, recent advances in Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based Natural Language Processing (NLP) try to surpass with enhanced information retrieval and cognitive search. Rather than relying on exact or fuzzy text matching, it detects documents that semantically and conceptually are close enough to the search query. The EIFFEL EU-funded project aims to reveal the role of GEOSS as the default Digital Portal for building Climate Change (CC) adaption and mitigation applications and offer the Earth Observation community the ground-breaking capacity of exploiting existing GEOSS datasets. To this end, as a lead technological partner of the EIFFEL consortium, LIBRA AI Technologies, designs and develops an end-to-end advanced cognitive search system dedicated to the GEOSS Portal and exceeds current challenges. The proposed system comprises an AI language model optimized for CC-related text and queries, a framework for collecting a sizeable CC-specific corpus used for the language model specialization, a back-end that adopts modern database technologies with advanced capabilities for embedding-based cognitive search matching, and an open Application Programming Interface (API). The cognitive search component is the backbone of the EIFFEL visualisation engine, which will allow any GEOSS user, as well as the EIFFEL Climate Change application developing teams, to detect GEOSS data objects and services that are of interest for their research and application but could not effectively get accessed with the available GEOSS Portal search engine. The work described in this abstract is part of the EIFFEL European project. The EIFFEL project has received funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 101003518. We thank all partners for their valuable contributions.
