Ontology-Based Anti-threat Decision Support System for IPV4/IPV6

Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) is a new generation protocol that is designed to solve the issues which arises in IPv4. The introduction of IPv6 may pose additional security risks and give potential vulnerabilities in addition to those which are provided by IPv4. This paper analyzes the security vulnerabilities exist, network security improvements and implementation, and the distributed security policy in the IPv6. Hence, several security policies should be created to maintain the security for both IPv4 and IPv6.

Applications in pervasive computing environment exploit information about the context of use, such as the location, tasks and preferences of the user, in order to adapt their behavior in response to changing operating environments and user requirements. Utilizing context with aid of ontology in data and model, decision support systems can provide better and more desirable support to their users. The effects and advantages of exploiting ontology in user modeling and DSS is discussed. We propose a framework of a ontology-based decision support system (O2DSS), including ontology in model base, database and their advantages.

ABSTRACTToday’s scenario of manufacturing and supply chain is full of uncertainty because of numerous types of disruptions and failures such as fire, storm, machine failure, are a few names. Always supply chain disruptions present disastrous impacts, although probabilities of happening are low. In the recent robust as well as flexible supply chain has captured the focus of researchers in designing a supply chain network with consideration of disruption’s risk. In this work, an ontology-based decision support system is proposed to intensify the supply chain resilience during a disruption. The concept of semantic and ontology is adopted in developing the knowledge base for the entire supply chain network including manufacturing units. Protégé is used for defining the classes and sub-classes along with numerous types of properties and expressed in a rule-based system using semantic web rule language (SWRL). Furthermore, a mixed integer linear programming model with an objective of maximising quantified resilience to fulfil the demand. A hybrid particle swarm optimisation – differential evolution (PSO-DE) is utilised as an optimisation technique for the defined problem. In performing the study, a set of simulated data is formed and then interpreted in the ontology for an optimal selection of recovery activity.

Tendering management is a large and fragmented process implemented in various industries such as construction, logistics, pharmaceutical, and commerce. Tendering process is vital for a governing body that intends to acquire any goods or services from third parties for ensuring fair and transparent competition. Current electronic tender management does not have the necessary capabilities to automatically extract unstructured information on the tender document and hence, requires the decision maker to examine the information contained on the document one by one. In addition, the isolated tendering process leads to the ineffective communication between different stakeholders such as owners/clients, consultants, and contractors/suppliers to share and reuse information especially during decision-making. The increasing inconsistent and semantic heterogeneity information for the decision-making process requires the need to represent knowledge in a uniform format that is understandable to both humans and computers. Thus, the ontology-based decision support system architecture for tendering management is proposed to support information extraction and decision-making process. A prototype of ontology-based decision support system is developed using the case study of the construction tender evaluation process.

Paper retractions are rising due to the absence of reliable tools to detect and identify fraudulent articles before publication. This paper proposes an ontology-based decision support system to prevent compromised peer review by carefully selecting qualified reviewers and avoiding potential conflicts of interest. There are three main contributions: (i) formulating the criteria for the selection of qualified reviewers as well as for recognising potential conflicts of interest; (ii) designing the ontology-based decision support system; (iii) designing and performing the methodology for validation. A pilot test with 30 computer science experts is conducted to determine qualified reviewers and conflict criteria, including the design of ontologies structure. Subsequently, three selected computer science experts and journal editors are requested to evaluate a set of test data as the ground truth. Overall results show that the proposed solution achieves 91% accuracy in qualified reviewer selection and 94% accuracy in conflict-of-interest detection.

The competitiveness of nature-based Health Tourism (NHT) industry, especially in the Alpine regions, is increasingly linked to the sustainability and exploitation of unique natural resources of tourism destinations, which often lack the access to knowledge and networks of stakeholders to improve their offerings. In this sense, the use of digital tools can open up further opportunities to reconsider value offerings and better access different knowledge resources and relationships within the industry network. This Chapter illustrates the collaborative design approach adopted in HEALPS2 for the development of an ontology-based Decision Support System for health tourism destinations. The resulting ontology aims to model the relationships between the available natural resources, the value offerings and the target groups of NHT destinations. Moreover, the Collaborative Design approach foresees the involvement of end-users (i.e. not only tourism destinations, but also the network of stakeholders, and the actual and potential future tourists) as both sources of knowledge and validators of the ontology and its outputs, aiming to inform decision-making processes in a shared knowledge model that leverages on digital tools.

Issues of network threat directly affects the network security in any organization. One of the most prominent network threats is the intrusion of information. Government Information and Communications Technology Security Policy should be should be given a serious emphasis by every government organization. Internet of Things (IoT) is the latest technology that allows devices to establish connection with other devices through the Internet. The practicality of IoT devices causes many public and private institutions to adopt IoT technology to assist teaching and learning. In addition, one of the key feature of IoT device is to provide users with fast response through warning or notification. The purpose of this project is to design and develop a framework based on the IoT network to mitigate the threat and to design a threat management model for the computer laboratory at METrO Polytechnic Tasek Gelugor. Research tools used are literature study, questionnaire on threats and information security levels involve students and polytechnic staff and expert interviews. The interview is to validate the developed framework and model are involving ICT experts in the polytechnic. The preliminary survey on the network threats found that students are exposed to some of the issue of the network threat and demonstrated lack of awareness when it comes to network security. The network framework and threat management model of the IoT are developed to monitor the threats in the network. Efficient and robust monitoring systems such as the IoT network threat management model are expected to enhance the network security system capability in METrO Polytechnic Tasek Gelugor.

Implementing information management system is still a challenging task for any organization. A lot of surveys are conducted to find out the root causes of implementation problems and propose new methods that can improve and simplify this process. In this paper we suggest using an ontology-based decision support system to avoid some implementation challenges.

Security weaknesses often stem from users trying to comply with social expectations rather than following security procedures. Such normative conflicts between security policies and social norms are therefore undesirable from a security perspective. It has been argued that system developers have a meta-task responsibility, meaning that they have a moral obligation to enable the users of the system they design to cope adequately with their responsibilities. Depending on the situation, this could mean forcing the user to make an ethical choice, by conflicts. In this paper, we ask the question to what extent it is possible to detect such potential normative conflicts in the design phase of security-sensitive systems, using qualitative research in combination with so-called system models. We then envision how security design might proactively reduce conflict by (a) designing out conflict where possible in the development of policies and systems, and (b) responding to residual and emergent conflict through organisational processes. The approach proposed in this paper is a so-called subcultural approach, where security policies are designed to be culturally sympathetic. Where normative conflicts either cannot be avoided or emerge later, the organisational processes are used to engage with subcultures to encourage communally-mediated control.

This chapter focuses on the wide geopolitical challenges the European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP) addresses. It locates the ENP in the wider framework of the EU’s political and security policies, taking particular notice of its security dimension. The chapter starts with a broad analysis of the EU’s role as a security provider, the international and regional contexts driving EU action on security affairs, and the security understandings and policy responses developed by the Union. It then proceeds with a more detailed analysis of EU official documents on the ENP to map the proposals put forward by EU institutions regarding the promotion of security in the neighbourhood—what we consider the expansion of the security community.

The architecture of a computer communication system has evolved with advances in technology. Changes to satisfy telecommunication needs within the technical community have surfaced gradually through the efforts of international computer standards organizations, technical panels, and guidance committees. The design of a secure computer communications architecture to protect the integrity of information exchange is pursued by the aerospace industry, the commercial and financial sectors, and at all levels of government agencies. Banking institutions, the insurance and medical professions, goods and commodity exchanges, the airline industry, and local, state, and federal government agencies have all sought increased computer security and confidence in their computer communications. * Computer security techniques, defense methodologies, and security appliances are discussed and analyzed. These discussions will center on various computer and network security devices. With these devices, the foundations for a rigorous security policy can be created. Security policies are important in preventing compromises of network security and threats affecting secure computer communications. Vulnerabilities in computer networks are identified in terms of exploits. The deployment of scanning technologies can discover these exploits and their affects on the integrity of the information exchanged. These same technologies can assign risk factors and pose suggestions for corrective actions in the computer environment. A firewall system installation is deployed on the network of the enterprise to protect and secure a computer communications architecture. Intrusion detection techniques include signature identification of the intruder to locate and respond to network and host-based intruder attacks. Some of these same techniques will uncover the forensic evidence and explain how the computer or network system was compromised. Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) are another example of a security appliance. This network device employs security mechanisms such as tunneling, Internet protocol (IP) security protocols and cryptography. Insecure computer communications can have devastating consequences on national security, which would affect every aspect of daily life. To address the issue a secure computer communications architecture will be offered as an example to demonstrate the precautions that can be taken, display the benefits from a systems engineering viewpoint and present an economic feasibility with a view towards the future

Although it managed to keep its neutrality during the First World War, Denmark felt for a long time the lack of some effective security guarantees. For this reason it was natural for it to join the League of Nations, an international organization that was aimed at keeping the peace on the continent. The main mean of guarding the peace was the conception of a system of collective security among the European states. Due to its extremely important geostrategic position, Denmark was highly interested in supporting this new concept. Danish foreign policy was very cautious because it had a powerful enemy that it did not intend to provoke. For many years, Denmark''s security policy was almost exclusively dictated by its position as a tiny neighbour to Germany. The weak defence policy in the interwar period was a function of the Danish effort of not provoking Germany. Denmark strongly supported the disarmament and concluded several arbitration treaties for a peaceful solution of any disputes with other states.

The research aims to analyze patterns of fraud in Sharia banking transactions and identify effective prevention strategies. The method used is a qualitative approach with case study data collection. The research findings reveal various common patterns of fraud, such as identity theft, document forgery, transaction manipulation, and misappropriation of funds. Factors such as weaknesses in the transaction system, weak security policies, and lack of employee training influence the occurrence of fraud. Prevention strategies that can be implemented include early detection systems, strict security policies, employee training, and cooperation with authorities. It is hoped that the research findings can assist Sharia banks in enhancing transaction security, protecting customers, and minimizing fraud risks.
