Optimization of Software Testing Processes Through a Quality Management System

Today, the most vital step is software testing, especially in product quality. Agile software development is exceedingly difficult and has contentious issues in literature and business. Since most Agile techniques place more emphasis on development than software testing activities, different people have varying opinions about how software testing fits into these methodologies. Agile places a high emphasis on frequent deliveries and tight client connections. However, software testing is complex because agile does not incorporate many destructive testing techniques typically required for a product of higher-quality. The study reveals industry-wide Agile testing procedures and the main problems that arise when Agile development is used. Additionally covered are the differences between manual and automated testing, best automation practices, and ways to lead different testing teams in an agile testing environment. This study covers every facet of the Agile software testing process. Agile development has shown that testing is not a distinct stage but rather a crucial component of software development along with the coding. The agile team employs an overall strategy to produce software products of the highest quality. As part of an agile team, testers collect customer samples of the desired behaviour and collaborate with the developer's team to help the coders translate these examples into executable specifications. Coding and testing are done iteratively and incrementally, developing every item until it is valuable enough to release in production. It addresses several testing modalities. The classification provided by its quadrants aids teams in determining and organizing the necessary tests. To increase quality assurance, this article will examine various and improved Agile Testing Processes and methodologies. Additionally, the topic of Agile development's software testing method is covered. Agile development processes can be improved and more advantageous by incorporating testing procedures.

Software release is highly dependent upon the quality of the product which must be met by the product before software release. Software product quality outcome will be good if modeling of test process is good. In Software test process model large numbers of state variables exist which can affect the entire software testing process. This paper introduces various state variables for improving the software test process. By introducing as many state variables, definitely we can enhance the overall quality of testing process which ultimately will enhance the quality of software product. This paper proposes an algorithm focus upon the use of the state variables along with the control based system for the software testing process. Combine concept of controls based system and state variables provide the power of identifying the remaining number of errors at any point of time. Proposed algorithm uses the concept of the feedback system and related work to [9] [10] [12] [13] with additional state variables to model an efficient software testing process.

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to identify the influence exerted by a quality management system (QMS) under ISO 9001: 2015 on the quality of public services organizations in Mexico.Design/methodology/approachThe methodological design was quantitative, explanatory, observational and transversal, for which a sample of 461 public servants from the state of Guanajuato, Mexico was obtained. To test the hypotheses, a structural equation model (SEM) was developed through the statistical software Amos v.21. For the analysis of the data, software SPSS v.21 was used. Regarding the goodness and adjustment indices of the SEM (χ2 = 720.09, df = 320, CFI = 0.933, TLI = 0.926 and RMSEA = 0.05) which, therefore, proved to be acceptable.FindingsAccording to the results obtained through the SEM model, the QMS under ISO 9001: 2015 is positively and significantly influenced tangible aspects (β1 = 0.79, p < 0.01), reliability (β2 = 0.90, p < 0.01), related to response quality (β3 = 0.93, p < 0.01), guarantees (β4 = 0.91, p < 0.01) and empathy (β5 = 0.88, p < 0.01) of the quality related to public services in Mexico. The study’s key contribution is that it discovered that implementing a QMS in accordance with the ISO 9001: 2015 standard has an impact on the quality of public services, with the most influential quality of response. Similarly, the assurance and dependability of service quality turned out to be important in providing public service quality.Research limitations/implicationsIn this paper, the QMS was only evaluated as a variable that intervenes in the process of obtaining quality in public service under the ISO 9001 standard in its 2015 version. In this regard, the results’ trustworthiness is limited to the extent that the findings may be generalized in the state of Guanajuato, Mexico’s public service. As a result, the scientific community is left primarily focused on service quality to promote new future research.Practical implicationsThe ISO 9001: 2015 standard’s QMS is one of the tools for success in both the commercial and government sectors. However, there are practical limitations, which focus on the time during which managers exercise their vision in the public sector: first, the dynamics that managers play in public policy; second, the length of time they have served in public office; and third, the interest of directors of public institutions to improve the quality of service provided by the government. Other practical consequences concern organizational culture and identity, public servant commitment, senior management or secretaries of government, as well as work and training.Originality/valueThe findings of this paper are important and valuable because they foster knowledge generation in the public sector through the ISO 9000 quality area. A model that permits the adoption and implementation of a QMS based on the ISO 9001: 2015 standard in public organizations that seek to provide quality in their services offered to the user is also presented to the literature. Similarly, the paper is important because there is currently insufficient research focusing on the variables examined in the context of public service in Mexico.

Software testing is an extremely important work link in software engineering. It runs through the entire life cycle of software engineering to ensure that software development meets requirements and can meet certain software quality requirements. With the continuous expansion of the scale of information systems, simple software testing can no longer meet the requirements of system and software quality assurance. This requires practitioners to gradually begin to think about and improve the testing methods of large-scale information software. For large-scale information software, testing will be embedded in each unit, and the software testing process will be organized in a more macroscopic way of thinking and organization. This article will summarize a series of methods suitable for large-scale information software testing through the research of software testing and the practice of the author. It is hoped that the research in this article can provide some help for the testing of large-scale information software, and also provide help for the precipitation and improvement of the author's own work.

Many empirical studies that suggest that ISO certification has no effect on performance continue to cast doubt on the effectiveness of quality management systems (QMS) on performance. This paper examines quality management systems and how they affect the performance of manufacturing firms in Malaysia because of this contradiction and the dearth of empirical studies there. Food processing companies still struggle to put quality management systems into practice in a way that results in improved organizational performance. As a tactic to obtain a competitive edge in the target market through the creation of superior product quality, market growth, and improved customer satisfaction, many manufacturing businesses in Malaysia are still finding it difficult to adopt efficient quality management systems.&#x0D; The article offers deeper understandings into the advantages of quality management systems, methods, and concepts that managers should consider for any certification, including ISO, TQM, &amp; others, to be effectively applied and then transfer to improved company performance. The study discovered a significant positive relationship between the competitive performance of a firm and the quality management techniques under investigation. These quality practices—which include top management support, capacity expansion, adoption and exploitation of information technology, and control measures—are essential to achieving and maintaining this competitive performance.&#x0D; The study suggests that manufacturing companies should concentrate on changing the organizational culture as a whole in order to make it overtly quality-oriented. In order for the company to reap the rewards of a quality management system, it is essential to regularly conduct training in this area in order to instill habits and make employees more amenable to the change of working methods. Organizations may increase internal efficiency via the use of quality management strategies, which is a must for competing in the global market.

Consumers and stakeholders have rising concerns over product quality and environmental issues, and therefore, quality and environmental management have become important topics for today’s fashion products manufacturers. This chapter presents some empirical evidence of the adoption of quality management systems (QMS) and environmental management systems (EMS) and their impact on fashion and textiles related firms’ supply chain efficiency. Although both management systems are commonly adopted in the manufacturing industries and becoming a passport to business, their actual impacts specifically on the fashion supply chain have not been explored. By investigating the adoption of ISO 9000 (a quality management system) and ISO 14000 (an environmental management system) in the U.S. fashion and textiles firms, we estimate their impact on manufacturers’ supply chain performance. Based on 284 publicly listed fashion and textiles manufacturing firms in the U.S., we find that fashion and textiles firms operating cycle time had shortened by 15.12 days in a five-year period. In the cross-sectional analysis, the results show that early adopters of ISO 9000 and high-tech textiles related firms obtained more supply chain benefits. We only find mixed results of the impact of ISO 14000 on supply chain performance.

IntroductionOne objective of the European Network for Health Technology Assessment (EUnetHTA) Joint Action 3 (JA3) is to set up a quality management system (QMS) for joint work that serves as a standalone infrastructure for a sustainable European HTA-collaboration. Structures of the QMS (quality policy, processes and procedures, and organizational structures) combined with the measures of QM (quality planning, assurance, control and improvement) both ensure achieving the objective of producing high-quality HTAs.MethodsBased on a thorough concept with involvement of a spectrum of EUnetHTA partners, re-evaluation, internal workshops and national expertise, the existing inventory consisting of procedures, templates, methodological guidelines and tools is being refined, complemented and revised. Procedures are gradually being transferred into Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), seamlessly and chronologically covering all assessment phases. Supplemented by quality-control-checklists and templates these SOPs are linked to relevant guidelines and tools. The so-established QMS is subject to continuous improvement by recurrently applying the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA)-cycle. Members of the assessment teams are surveyed after the publication of each EUnetHTA-report (check-phase). Processed results lead to modification, maintenance and improvement of the inventory (act-phase).ResultsThe majority of content has already been developed or revised and was already made available to the assessment teams to put to practical test. The survey results are systematically collected, processed and compiled. Derived from these results, a comprehensive report and a thorough list of improvement measures have been developed and will serve as a basis for further adaptions.ConclusionsThe establishment of structures of QMS and measures of QM both are supposed to assure high-quality HTA-reports for EUnetHTA and a possible permanent European collaboration on HTA after JA3 as proposed by the EU-commission's regulation proposal 2018/0018 (COD). The installed systematic data collection, processing and compilation mechanisms are a solid basis for the identification of future needs for developments.

The model of a quality management system based on international standards ISO 9000 series is recognized in all the world. The aim of the article is to show the competitive advantages of a construction company in the modern market by improving its quality and product management system. We consider the implementation of the provisions of international standards ISO 9000 series as an effective solution to the problem. Quality improvement is a continuous work aimed at improving the technical level of product quality, quality of its manufacture, improving production elements and the quality system itself. The authors of the article give a specific method for improving the enterprise quality management system with a developed sequence. A risk-based approach to creating an enterprise quality management system was also considered. The main research methods in assessing the technical condition of certain building materials are differential, integrated and mixed methods. The authors show the calculation procedure using these methods, as well as the main results of their application. Then, the article provides a methodology for calculating the level of product quality, which is evaluated by a set of indicators, which do not include economic indicators.

A quality management system constitutes one of the organizations management systems that provides for the selection of a set of processes in the organizations activities designed to ensure the stable quality of products and services provided.&#x0D; The growth of global industrial production has underscored the need for the creation of such production and management systems. These systems are designed to ensure that enterprises remains prepared to meet the constantly changing consumer value of manufactured products in accordance with consumer requirements, as well as the satisfaction of consumers themselves. As a result, attention began to focus on the production processes implemented within the organization when creating products. Regarding the production of medical devices, a quality management system can be defined as an organizational structure encompassing its functions, procedures, processes, and resources necessary for the coordinated direction and management of a manufacturing organization with respect to the quality of medical products.&#x0D; The article reflects the principles of the quality management system and management processes. Noteworthy emphasis is placed on the features of quality management systems for medical devices, including the features of the quality management system for software that is a medical device. Furthermore, the conditions under which the quality management system becomes a tool for ensuring the sustainable development of the organization are noted.

In the context of strict regulatory requirements and the desire for continuous improvement, pharmaceutical companies are faced with the need to improve the efficiency and reliability of their quality management systems (QMS). Traditional approaches to the audit of QMS documentation, based on manual analysis, are time-consuming, subject to the human factor and do not always provide the necessary depth of analysis FarBrain, which uses artificial intelligence (AI) technologies for automated audit of QMS documents. The system is designed to analyze various types of documents, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), corrective and preventive action plans (CAPAs), quality policies and reports, for compliance with a wide range of international and national standards, such as EAEU GMP, ICH Q10, ISO 9001, PIC/S Guide, GAMP 5 and FDA 21 CFR Part 11. The system is based on natural language processing (NLP) and machine learning (ML) algorithms that automatically extract key information, identify inconsistencies and potential risks, and make recommendations for improvement. The article describes in detail the methods behind the operation of the system, including the architecture, the AI algorithms used, and the validation process in accordance with the principles of GMP. In addition, the results demonstrating the functionality of the system are presented and compared with other existing AI solutions in the field of quality management. The advantages, challenges and prospects of introducing AI into QMS audit processes are discussed, emphasizing the importance of integration with other digital systems and the development of predictive analytics to ensure a high level of quality and safety of pharmaceutical products.

In this paper, we study the problem of assessing the impact of quality management systems (QMS) on business performance of organisations. Several mediatory variables linking QMS and business performance namely information quality, design performance, operating and environmental performance, supplier relationships, customer relationships, product quality, service quality, and competitive priorities are investigated. Twelve hypotheses linking the impact of these factors on each other, QMS and business performance are proposed. Based on these hypotheses, a questionnaire instrument is developed. A survey study is conducted with industry professionals involved in quality management and engineering and the results analysed using factor analysis and regression analysis. The results of our study show that organisations often implement QMS as a catalyst for change and use them in daily practice. All the proposed hypotheses are found to be true indicating positive relationship between implementation of QMS and business performance and mediatory variables under study.

Software quality assurance and testing is a vital phase in the software development lifecycle, oftentimes requiring a significant portion of the overall development budget. Providing authentic, real-world software quality assurance and testing experiences within the context of a Computer Science or Software Engineering curriculum is challenging. Based on prior experience leveraging Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) as an instructional medium for teaching Software Engineering concepts, this paper describes five increasingly involved learning interventions that utilize FOSS in a software testing course to provide students real-world hands-on software testing knowledge and experience. The proposed approach will be piloted and assessed in software testing courses at the undergraduate and graduate level.

PurposeThe paper aims to identify causality amongst small and medium enterprises' (SMEs') performance indicators, propose an integrated index of business performance and quality practices and investigate the effect of quality management system (QMS) on business performance.Design/methodology/approachThis study proposes a two-stage approach. In the first stage, the authors gathered responses with a questionnaire on variables affecting business performance and identified dimensions using exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses. Path analysis was carried out to identify causality between the dimensions. In the next stage, the validation of stage 1 findings was carried out to substantiate the proposition that QMS affects performance. Questionnaire survey and in-depth interviews were conducted during the second stage. The analysis was done following the case study protocol – within- and cross-case analysis and validated with supportive and conflicting literature.FindingsThe results show that the employee – dimension is crucial to process effectiveness, customer satisfaction and finances. Customer satisfaction results from employee satisfaction and processes. QMS impacts processes and employee performance, thus establishes the causality between business performance factors and QMS. QMS impacts finances in the short run but yields long-term benefits and is dependent on two factors – degree of knowledge of quality practices and its application in business.Originality/valueThis study reveals the performance dimensions of SMEs, their causality and the impact of QMS on performance. It suggests a shift from traditional approaches, correcting defects using statistical quality control approaches, to a sustainable growth path – a long-term approach. This study puts forward two associated indices – the business performance and the knowledge of quality practices and its application index.

The article provides a detailed overview of the applications of quality management systems (QMS) and methods for their automation. Different methods of quality management are considered, which are used to obtain metrics for monitoring the quality of production business processes. Automation of monitoring, analysis, and evaluation of the QMS is becoming an increasingly urgent task in today's market conditions. It allows improving the efficiency of enterprises to develop products and services. Various approaches to automate the process of monitoring and evaluating the QMS, including the use of multidimensional data analysis and neural network technologies, are also analyzed in the article. Multidimensional data analysis helps identify hidden patterns and trends in production and quality management processes. Neural network technologies provide the ability to make informed decisions based on the data obtained. The article also discusses the development of a growth strategy using QMS. The development strategy should be aimed at continuously improving product and service quality, increasing enterprise efficiency, and meeting consumer demands. The concept of an information system for monitoring, measuring, analyzing, and evaluating the QMS is a complex of software and hardware tools that ensure the automation of quality control processes. This system allows obtaining objective data on product and service quality and making informed and qualitative decisions to improve quality based on data analytics. Thus, the article represents a valuable source of information for specialists in the field of quality management, heads of enterprises and organizations, as well as anyone interested in improving product and service quality.

Customer service plays an essential role in firm performance. In this perspective, customer service process should be constantly improved to meet the expectations of customers. Despite the essence of customer satisfaction and its relations to organizational performance firms still fails to satisfy its entire customer segments. This study examines how the interaction between service innovation and total quality management can contribute to customer satisfaction. The study proposes a framework that seeks to aid firms on how to develop and implement quality customer service for its customers. This model takes into consideration the perceived expectation of customers in relation to value and quality.
