Organizational Governance Through Dataplex

There is a dearth of academic research literature on the practices and commitments of information security governance in organizations. Despite the existence of referential and standards of the security governance, the research literature remains limited regarding the practices of organizations and, on the other hand, the lack of a strategy and practical model to follow in adopting an effective information security governance. This chapter aims to explore the engagement processes and the practices of organizations involved in a strategy of information security governance via a statistical and econometric analysis of data from a survey of 1000 participants (with a participation rate of 83.67%) from large and medium companies belonging to various industries. Based on the results of the survey regarding practices of information security management and governance, a practical maturity framework for the information security governance and management in organizations is presented.

General practice nurses wishing to develop their careers in general practice are often unsupported, relying on the culture of individual practices. Given the structural diversity of Australian general practice, we qualitatively explored staff experiences of organisational governance, what supports are in place and can be used to assist nurses to advance. Semi-structured interviews with 28 staff (including nurses, GPs, receptions and practice managers) were undertaken across three practices, as part of a case-study approach. It was found that general practice staff know little of organisational governance and how it may be harnessed. Practical and flexible organisational governance were the most important factors in supporting general practice nurses to develop and utilise nursing skills, but advocacy from medical colleagues was necessary to support advancement. Barriers include funding structures, non-supportive cultures and inflexible organisational governance structures. Organisation governance has the potential to assist nurses to work at an advanced level, but significant financial, structural and cultural barriers may be too difficult for organisational governance resources alone to overcome. In addition to utilising resources, it may be useful for general practices to undertake a review of how they function as a team and reflect upon their practice culture.

This work proposes a new motivation for a literature review on the concepts of roles in project, program and portfolio governance within organizational overall governance. Recent literature has been promoting a paradigm change in the way how the research and practitioner communities should approach project management. Under such change, it mattered to better understand in a first moment which drivers regarding project, program and portfolio governance roles motivated or, in part, enabled such change. In a second moment the focus was placed on the way how project, program and portfolio governance roles (whereas the concept of role demonstrates to need clarifications under the main standards and practitioners books) are addressed from that paradigm shift onwards. As a result, we concluded that current standards and practitioners books do not promote and effective integration with organizational governance, and although initiatives as Research Project Management promote a shift by addressing a required multidisciplinary approach on project management discipline, such governance alignment is yet to be achieved. The conclusion and final remarks on the future work, stresses onto the evidenced gaps in promoting a coherent set of theories, models and tools in project management discipline, and the apparent suitability of Enterprise Engineering discipline to address them.

The goals of every organisation are unique. As a result, it is difficult to find a single Information Technology (IT) governance framework that will embrace functions of every organisation. This is attributed to the primary reason why organisations tend to select various (multiple) IT governance frameworks, for your processes and activities. However, many organisations later realised that some of the frameworks are very similar (duplications), and others are inappropriate. This evidently and inevitably cause complexities, and negatively impact return on investment in organisations. This highlights the need for an architectural framework which guides the selection and implementation of an appropriate framework, as presented and discussed in this paper. The qualitative, case study and interpretive method and approach were followed in conducting this research, which was to develop an architectural framework for the implementation of IT governance in the organisations. A South African organisation was used as a case, focusing on the IT division. The data collection method presented in this research was semi-structured interviews. Through a framework, the paper presents and discusses the fundamental factors, which influences the selection and implementation of IT governance in organisations. The factors include organisational needs, managing, assessment and innovation. These factors are influenced and do interacts with other tenets, which include adherence, competitiveness and sustainability, training and education, governance and compliance.

Cloud computing touts the benefits of self service and auto scaling, but its negative impact on an enterprise's business process and culture change is often neglected. This paper addresses two risks introduced by Cloud, i.e., losing financial control in IT spending and losing organizational governance. The root cause of these risks is due to the fact that the account structure in today's Cloud does not reflect the typical hierarchical organization structure in an enterprise. Therefore, it is hard to implement in Cloud the traditional business processes that enforce IT financial control and organizational governance. We propose a solution where the Cloud provider offers mechanisms to enforce financial control and organizational governance, while the policies are provided by customers through self service in the Cloud portal. Intuitively, we extend the concept of self service from resource provisioning into the area of financial control and organizational governance. Specifically, we introduce the concept of credit token in Cloud to resemble how budget allocation trickles down in a traditional organization, and introduce a hierarchical structure among Cloud accounts so that an ancestor account has privileges over a descendant account to enforce governance.

Organizational governance has become a popular and important topic in the nonprofit sector literature. This review focuses on the governance of non-membership, paid-staff nonprofit organizations (also called nonprofit agencies), which are characterized by a hierarchical structure, where the board has the ultimate power and the responsibility to ensure that governance functions are carried out. Such agency boards are usually self-perpetuating, unlike the situation in voluntary membership associations, where the members usually elect the board. We contribute to the literature on the governance of nonprofit organizations in three major ways. First, we discuss research themes identified by previous review articles, analyze empirical and conceptual contributions from the recent nonprofit organization governance literature, and identify a number of governance challenges for nonprofit organizations. Second, we present a wide array of theoretical perspectives from different disciplines that may be useful when studying the governance of nonprofit organizations. From a practical viewpoint this is important, as it may assist researchers in the theoretical framing of their papers and help them in the formulation of theory-based hypotheses. Third, we integrate a number of theoretical perspectives by using a paradox perspective. We focus on four important contemporary governance challenges in nonprofit organizations: (1) stakeholder accountability, (2) environmental dependence, (3) volunteer reliability, and (4) board group dynamics. By using a multi-theoretical approach to analyze the ambiguities, paradoxes, and dilemmas associated with these governance challenges, we provide more general theory-based frameworks for the governance of nonprofit organizations than currently available in the literature.

Factors influencing Malaysian environmental NGOs participation in climate governance: A DEMATEL-Base analysis

Organizations are the role-oriented institutions, and in economic sense they tend to contribute in generating benefit to their members by minimizing costs in input and output marketing. With this notion, development agencies have been strengthening local farmer-owned organizations in community-based rice seed production system in developing countries where private seed companies and government corporations have not been successful to supply diverse rice varieties in cheap price. In spite of the great potential of these farmers’ organizations, the performance of these institutions is poorly understood. This paper measured the governance of these organizations and analyzes how organizational governance indicators (participation, business plan, incentive system and linkage) contribute on household level economic indicators (technical efficiency and proportion of rice seed sold by household in the market). Data for the study were collected from the three Tarai districts: Siraha, Chitwan and Kailali of Nepal. Four community-based rice seed producer organizations with 15 households from each of these organizations were chosen for the study. The economic indicators were estimated using household data whereas governance indicators through group discussion and documentary study. The impact of governance indicators on economic indicators was estimated by simple linear regression technique. Result shows that there is wide variability of economic and governance indicators across the organizations and there is positive impact of governance indicators on both economic indicators. However, the degree of impact of these indicators on proportion of rice seed sold is higher as compared to that of technical efficiency. Moreover, organizations with higher educated leaders have better governance indicators. It means facilitation of these organizations for selecting/developing higher educated leaders is important for enhancing organizational governance, which also contributes on economic benefits at household level.

The development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has brought fundamental transformations to business and accounting practices, improving work efficiency, analytical accuracy, and organizational governance. However, these advancements also raise critical questions regarding ethics, professional responsibility, and human resource readiness. This study aims to conduct a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) of recent literature concerning the relationship between ethics, technology readiness, and AI implementation in business and accounting contexts. The review maps empirical and conceptual studies from 2024-2025, including research conducted in Vietnam, Lebanon, and Indonesia. The findings reveal that AI adoption success is influenced by technology readiness, perceived usefulness, and ease of use, yet it also heavily depends on ethical culture and organizational governance. Previous studies tend to overlook the role of moral factors, data transparency, and ethical oversight in AI implementation. Therefore, this study emphasizes the need for integration between digital ethics and technology readiness as a foundation for sustainable AI development in business and accounting.

This paper aims to build corporate governance theory to inform company success in the context of emerging markets. Success for a company listed in an emerging market is contingent on being able to effectively manage a range of business, economic, social and political considerations unique to that emerging country. This paper explains the significance of incorporating context with corporate governance systems to inform how can organizational governance and board of directors affect firm performance. Theory developed in the context of emerging markets provides the basis for more widely applicable emerging stock market insight into theory of context and practice of corporate governance.

The article analyzed citizens’ perceptions of the digitalization of public services in cadastral management with the aim of determining the factors that influence service quality and user satisfaction. The population consisted of 50 officials and 50 public servants from public service institutions, including both administrative and operational areas related to institutional management. A quantitative approach with a non-experimental, cross-sectional design was adopted. A structured questionnaire was administered to the participants, and the data were processed using descriptive, correlational, and multiple regression analyses. The results showed favorable levels across the variables analyzed, with quality management emerging as the highest-rated dimension. Additionally, positive and statistically significant relationships were identified among organizational governance, quality management, and operational efficiency, which confirmed the interdependence among these constructs. The regression analysis indicated that both variables significantly influenced operational efficiency, with quality management being the strongest predictor. It was concluded that the articulation between organizational governance and quality management directly contributed to the optimization of institutional processes and the efficient use of resources, thereby strengthening performance in public service institutions.
