The dynamic output feedback L2 disturbance attenuation control of linear parameter-varying (LPV) singular systems is investigated in this paper. Based on a general Lyapunovine quality, we first provide a condition that guaranteesthe admissability and the L2 gain performance of LPV singular systems. Then, the existence of dynamic output feedback L2 disturbance attenuation controller of the system is discussed. Finally, a dynamic output feedback controller is constructed by solving a coupled generalized algebraic Riccati inequalities. It is shown that the closed loop system is admissible and satisfies the desired L2 performance.

A Multiobjective Solution Approach to Fault Detection and Isolation of LPV Systems
In this paper, we consider the fault Detection and isolation (FDI) problem for faulty linear parameter-varying (LPV) systems subject to disturbances and propose a observer-based solution by using multiobjective optimization techniques. To simply the design process, a general faulty LPV system will be constructed from standard LPV description by converting actuator/system component faults into sensor faults at first. Then a bank of LPV FDI filters will be designed to identify each fault. Each FDI filter could generate a residual signal to track individual fault with minimum error and suppressing the effects of disturbances and other fault signals. The design of FDI filters will be formulated as multiobjective optimization problems in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) and can be solved efficiently. Two numerical examples are also presented to demonstrate the proposed fault detection and isolation approach on both LPV and LTI systems.
Read moreImpact angle constrained terminal guidance based on dynamic output feedback with guaranteed convergence speed
In terminal guidance phase, only partial information concerning the interception geometry is available. To intercept a target in specified direction under this condition, an impact angle constrained guidance law is proposed based on the dynamic output feedback. The guidance law doesn't use the rate of line-of-sight angle, and can guarantee convergence speed of the closed-loop system. Utilizing the parametric algebraic Riccati equation, a dynamic output feedback controller is designed. The controller contains a feedback law and an observer is obtained. Through integrated design of the parameters of the feedback law and the observer, the closed-loop system can be transformed to a new system, whose system matrix is a Jordan matrix. Using Lyapunov approach, desired convergence speed of the new system can be obtained by tuning its poles. And the same convergence speed of the original closed-loop system can also be achieved. Based on the dynamic output feedback controller, an impact angle constrained guidance law is derived. The guidance law is demonstrated by numerical simulation. Convergence speed can be guaranteed by the guidance law, and high guidance precision is achieved.
Read moreInduced ℓ<inf>2</inf> control of discrete-time Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy systems with time-varying delays via dynamic output feedback
This paper is concerned with analyzing a novel model transformation of discrete-time Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy systems with time-varying delays and applying it to dynamic output feedback (DOF) controller design. A new auxiliary model is proposed by employing a new approximation for time-varying delay state, and then delay partitioning method is used to analyze the scaled small gain of this auxiliary model. A sufficient condition on discrete-time T-S fuzzy systems with time-varying delays, which guarantees the corresponding closed-loop system to be asymptotically stable and has an induced l 2 disturbance attenuation performance, is derived by employing the scaled small gain theorem. Then the solvability condition for the induced l 2 DOF control is also established, by which the DOF controller can be found by solving a set of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs).
Read moreDynamic Output Feedback H∞ Control for Linear Parameter-varying Systems with Time-delay
In this paper, we address a synthesis problem of the parameter-dependent output feedback H∞ control for linear parameter-varying systems with time-delay. The scheme adopts the parameter-dependent past state information to construct the dynamic output feedback controller. In this case, on basis of the quadratic Lyapunov functional with parameter-dependence, we analyze the parameter-dependent H∞ stability conditions for the closed-loop time-delayed linear parameter-varying system in terms of linear matrix inequalities. However, this stability condition is of an infinite-dimension. To derive computationally tractable criteria for the dynamic output feedback controller, several slack variables and a convex relaxation technique are employed to have the infinite-dimensional condition of linear matrix inequalities cast into a finite dimensional convex optimization problem. By solving the convex optimization problem, we harvest the dynamic output feedback controller with memory for the time-delayed linear parameter-varying system. Finally, two examples are included to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
Read moreGuaranteed cost control for LPV systems with Markovian switching under partially known transition rates
This paper investigates the guaranteed cost control problem for a class of linear parameter-varying (LPV) systems with Markovian switching under partly known transition rates. A key point of this work relaxes Markovian jump systems whose subsystems are described by linear time-invariant (LTI) dynamics to LPV systems with Markovian switching whose subsystems are described by LPV dynamics. Meanwhile, the special assumption of completely known transition rates is relaxed to more general case that transition rates are partly known. Moreover, the proposed control technique for the LPV systems with Markovian switching is used to solve the guaranteed cost control problem of turbofan-engine. Firstly, a guaranteed cost controller is designed, and the design problem can be reduced to a set of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) feasibility problem. Then, a turbofan-engine example is given to demonstrate the applicability of the main results.
Read moreDynamic output feedback covariance control of linear stochastic dissipative partial differential equations
In this work, we develop a method for dynamic output feedback covariance control of the state covariance of linear dissipative stochastic partial differential equations (PDEs) using spatially distributed control actuation and sensing with noise. Such stochastic PDEs arise naturally in the modeling of surface height profile evolution in thin film growth and sputtering processes. We begin with the formulation of the stochastic PDE into a system of infinite stochastic ordinary differential equations (ODEs) by using modal decomposition. A finite-dimensional approximation is then obtained to capture the dominant mode contribution to the surface roughness profile (i.e., the covariance of the surface height profile). Subsequently, a state feedback controller and a Kalman-Bucy filter are designed on the basis of the finite-dimensional approximation. The dynamic output feedback covariance controller is subsequently obtained by combining the state feedback controller and the state estimator. The steady-state expected surface covariance under the dynamic output feedback controller is then estimated on the basis of the closed-loop finite-dimensional system. An analysis is performed to obtain a theoretical estimate of the expected surface covariance of the closed-loop infinite-dimensional system. Applications of the linear dynamic output feedback controller to the linearized stochastic Kuramoto-Sivashinsky equation are presented.
Read moreThe Behavioral Approach to Linear Parameter-Varying Systems
Linear parameter-varying (LPV) systems are usually described in either state-space or input-output form. When analyzing system equivalence between different representations it appears that the time-shifted versions of the scheduling signal (dynamic dependence) need to be taken into account. Therefore, representations used previously to define and specify LPV systems are not equal in terms of dynamics. In order to construct a parametrization-free description of LPV systems that overcomes these difficulties, a behavioral approach is introduced that serves as a basis for specifying system theoretic properties. LPV systems are defined as the collection of trajectories of system variables (like inputs and outputs) and scheduling variables. LPV kernel, input-output, and state-space system representations are introduced with appropriate equivalence transformations.

Based on these conditions the state-feedback controller and the dynamical output-feedback controller are designed. A numerical example is included to illustrate the proposed method.

Read moreDisturbance Compensator Design Based on Dilated LMI for Linear Parameter-Varying Systems
This paper presents a new dilated linear matrix inequality (LMI) representation to design a state feedback controller and a dynamic feedforward disturbance compensator for linear parameter-varying (LPV) systems. The improved LMIs are convex and finite-dimensional without any iterative approach. The designs are based on a new proposed equivalent bounded real lemma (BRL) by means of matrix dilation for LPV systems and uncertain linear systems under time-varying parametric uncertainties (TVPUs). This dilated BRL provides lower conservative results than existing methods in terms of robust stability. Accordingly, a dynamic disturbance compensator is designed in addition to a state feedback controller. This paper mainly focuses on the design of compensators against disturbances in addition to the design of state feedback controllers. The dynamic matrices of the compensator change with the time-varying parameters of the LPV or uncertain system during operation, assuming that the disturbances and the parameters are measurable or observable. The compensator can be designed to attenuate the disturbances/noises or to improve reference tracking. Finally, numerical and simulation outcomes are presented to prove both the effectiveness and lower conservativeness of the proposed LMIs.

This paper considers the design problem of dynamic output feedback control for fractional-order (FO) Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy systems with uncertain parameters. Via the application of FO system stability theory, robust control method and the linear matrix inequality techniques, sufficient conditions are given for the stability analysis and the existence of the dynamic fuzzy output feedback controllers. The dynamic output feedback controller designed here guarantees the robust stability of the closed-loop system. Finally, a fractional order chaotic system simulation example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the design approach here.

Fixed order LPV controller design for LPV models in input-output form
In this work, a new synthesis approach is proposed to design fixed-order H ∞ controllers for linear parameter-varying (LPV) systems described by input-output (I/O) models with polynomial dependence on the scheduling variables. First, by exploiting a suitable technique for polytopic outer approximation of semi-algebraic sets, the closed loop system is equivalently rewritten as an LPV I/O model depending affinely on an augmented scheduling parameter vector constrained inside a polytope. Then, the problem is reformulated in terms of bilinear matrix inequalities (BMI) and solved by means of a suitable semidefinite relaxation technique.
