The methods of the thermodynamic description of the nanoparticle state suggested by Gibbs, Shcherbakov, and Hill have been analyzed and the limits of the applicability of each considered method have been defined. The above methods allow one to describe the nanoparticle state over the whole range of their sizes from the lower limit, which corresponds to the size of the new phase nucleus, to the upper limit, which corresponds to the size of particles having the macrophase properties.
