Abstract

Training an accurate segmentation model requires high quality expert annotation along with significant amount of data that is costly and time-consuming to collect, especially in medical imaging domain. In this work, we argue that model trained on a carefully selected well-representative sub-cohort of the data pool can achieve similar performance to the model trained on all collected data. The evaluation conducted on an in-house dataset demonstrated that by combining synthetic data with the training sub-cohort, the method yields superior performance with respect to the one trained on all available real data.
