Preface

The issue of marketability among recent college graduates is regularly raised. Competition and economic problems have a substantial impact on graduates' ability to find work. As a result of this research, a tool that assesses cross-cultural dimensions and marketability skills will be developed to identify how potential graduates are perceived before they graduate from college. Respondents were randomly assigned questionnaires at three Malaysian Technical University Network (MTUN): Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP), Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTEM) and Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP). The samples are 44 prospective graduates from four MTUN universities. The responses from the samples provide acceptable and sufficient data for the pilot study's analysis of the study's dependability. The researcher has successfully developed a questionnaire instrument, and a pilot study analysis was carried out to ensure the validity and acceptance of the study as a construct. All cross-cultural dimensions have reliability above 0.6. Therefore, repeated analysis does not need to be done in a cross-cultural context. Several constructs of marketability have been dropped and analyzed, such as planning skills, problem-solving skills, communication skills, logical thinking skills, teamwork skills, and proactive skills. Other marketability constructs, namely technological skills and intrapersonal skills have reached a level of reliability above 0.6 and do not require repeated analysis. Finally, the pilot research for the instrument measuring future graduates' marketability abilities, as well as the cross-cultural component, was successfully completed. As a result, the researcher will use these evaluated items as instruments in the empirical field study.

Writing an editorial note for the first volume of the new journal of Archives of Advanced Engineering Science (AAES) is a great glory and honor for me. The scope of AAES is not limited to a single aspect of engineering and science and covers various subfields in the applied and fundamental engineering sciences. Particularly, articles with interdisciplinary nature are welcomed. A warm welcome to the inaugural issue of AAES, which is a new exciting title and subject for Bon View Press portfolio journals for 2023. AAES is a new beginning for engineering development in the way to advanced engineering science. I am fortunate and honored to be a member of AAES and take the responsibility of Editor-in-Chief. As can be witnessed in journal title, this pioneering journal aims to address and understand Engineering Science. Subject fields include, but are not limited to, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Informatics Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Material Engineering, Computer Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Renewable Energy and Resources, Technology and Applications, Sustainable Development and Interdisciplinary science. Today, we feel great happiness to publish the first issue of our journal in November 2023. This issue has six articles on different interesting topics in engineering science. I believe that AAES is providing a vigorously open-access, peer-reviewed, leading platform aiming at publishing the most valuable and Influential research works in the main basic areas of engineering science around the world. To enhance the standard of the journal through publishing high quality papers, we followed the main practices of Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and accordingly handled research and publication misconduct. Strict ethical guidelines for editors, authors, and peer reviewers were clearly presented. We introduced desk reject, double-blind peer-review by at least two anonymous reviewers and plagiarism detection to guarantee high standards of AAES.

A New Era

ICTEC 2019 is the third international conference organized by Centre for Telecommunication Research and Innovation (CeTRI) together with Faculty of Electronic and Computer Engineering (FKEKK), Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM). This conference was organized in collaboration with Photonics Research Centre (PRC), Universiti Malaya (UM), Wireless Communication Centre (WCC), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Universitas Sriwijaya, Indonesia and Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS).ICTEC 2019 was successfully organized in the heart of the Historical City of Melaka on 22-24 October 2019 with the theme “The 4th Industrial Revolution: Recent and Future Trend in Telecommunication, Electronic & Computer Engineering”.During the conference, a keynote speech entitled “The 4th Industrial Revolution: Disruptive Challenges to Higher Education” has been delivered by Prof. Ts. Ir. Dr Hj. Mohd Nasir Taib, Senior Professor at Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM).

The 2021 2nd International Conference on Electrical Technology and Automatic Control (ICETAC 2021) was held on October 23, 2021 as a virtual conference due to the growing concerns over the coronavirus outbreak (COVID-19), and in order to protect the well-being of our attendees, partners, and staff as our number one priority.ICETAC 2021 brings together more than 70 national and international researchers from industry, government, and academia. We invited submissions of papers and abstracts on all topics related to Electrical Technology and Automatic Control. The conference provides networking opportunities for participants to share ideas, designs, and experiences on the state-of-the-art and future direction of Electrical Technology and Automatic Control. ICETAC 2021 will feature a high-quality technical & experiential program dealing with a mix of traditional and contemporary hot topics in paper presentations and high-profile keynotes.During the conference, the conference model was divided into three sessions, including oral presentations, keynote speeches, and online Q&A discussion. In the first part, some scholars, whose submissions were selected as the excellent papers, were given about 5-10 minutes to perform their oral presentations one by one. Then in the second part, keynote speakers were each allocated 30-45 minutes to hold their speeches.In the second part, we invited four professors as our keynote speakers. Prof. Yuanchang Zhong, our first keynote speaker, from Chongqing University, China. His mainly research focus on Electronic Technology, Electronic Measurement Technology, System Engineering etc. And then we had Prof. Qinmin Yang, from Zhejiang University, China. He presented an insightful speech: Theoretical research and practice in intelligent control design for wind energy. In this talk, challenges faced by control community for high reliable and efficient exploitation of wind energy are discussed. Prof. Badrul Hisham Ahmad, Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka, performed a speech: Switchable Absorptive Bandstop to Bandpass Filter using Parallel-coupled Resonator. Our finale keynote speaker, Prof. He Yan, from Chongqing University of Technology, China. He presented an insightful speech: Research on Key Technologies of Semantic SLAM for Mobile Robot in Dynamic Scene. Their insightful speeches had triggered heated discussion in the third session of the conference. Every participant praised this conference for disseminating useful and insightful knowledge.The proceedings are a compilation of the accepted papers and represent an interesting outcome of the conference. Topics include but are not limited to the following areas: Electric Vehicle Technology, Intelligent Control System, Electrical Materials, Sensor Network System, Acoustics and Noise Control and more related topics. All the papers have been through rigorous review and process to meet the requirements of International publication standard.We would like to acknowledge all of those who supported ICETAC 2021. The help and contribution of each individual and institution was instrumental in the success of the conference. As we embark on a new year, it seems appropriate to pause and assess how the journal Particle & Particle Systems Characterization (hereafter referred to as Particle) has grown since its launch as a multidisciplinary, materials-science-focused journal at the start of 2013. From the outset, we intended to cover a broad spectrum of topics in the journal, ranging from the synthesis and characterization of particles to the application of these particles in areas such as biomedicine, catalysis, environmental science, micro/nano-electromechanical applications, micro/nano-fluidics, molecular electronics, photonics, sensing, and other areas. A quick look at the word cloud (Figure 1) generated from the keywords of all articles published in 2013 and 2014 shows that we are accomplishing our initial aim of producing a multidisciplinary journal that serves various communities. Naturally, after two years of submissions to the journal we were curious to see the origin of the manuscripts that we publish. In Figure 2, we present an overview of publications per region. While citations to published papers are by no means the only measure to assess the impact of work, they can provide some indication as to the importance and urgency of the results presented in a particular field of research—assuming that authors cite work that is of high relevance to their own ongoing research endeavours. At this point, it is worth reminding readers that in order for the references to Particle to be correctly recorded (for example, in CrossRef, Pubmed, or ISI Web of Knowledge), the correct Chemical Abstracts Service Source Index (CASSI) abbreviation—Part. Part. Syst. Charact.—must be used for citations. Deviations of this standard abbreviation result in incorrect bibliographic information, making it more difficult for our readers/your fellow researchers to discover your published work. Table 1 provides a list of the highest cited articles published in 2013. We are pleased with the range of topics presented, which, judging by the level of manuscript submissions to the journal and the positive feedback we receive when talking to researchers, appeals to the journal's broad readership. In the relatively short history of Particle, we have benefited greatly from the support of our Editorial Advisory Board and Executive Board members and the broader academic community. Through a number of collaborations, we have to date published three special issues (Figure 3) on Remotely Controlled Colloids, Interfaces, and Biosystems (guest editors: Gleb Sukhorukov, Igor Luzinov, and Sergiy Minko), The Basque Country regional special issue (guest editor: Luis M. Liz-Marzán), and Particles for Healthcare Applications (guest editors: Bin Liu, Xiaohu Gao, and Lanry Lin Yue Yung). One milestone of note for Particle and one of its sister journals, Advanced Optical Materials (also published first issue in Jan. 2013) was the attainment of the journal's first immediacy index, which was announced in July 2014. The immediacy index for Particle is 0.805 and that for Advanced Optical Materials is 0.867. The Immediacy Index—calculated each year by Thomson Reuters ISI—is the average number of times an article is cited in the year it is published. It indicates the topicality and urgency of work published in a scientific journal. These are excellent results that reflect the high-quality of work published in the first year of both journals. Particle and Advanced Optical Materials will obtain their first partial impact factors in June 2015. Other journals in the Advanced Materials journal family are shown in Figure 4. Our newest additions, Advanced Science and Advanced Electronic Materials, are now open for submissions. In the concern of COVID-19 pandemic, this international conference is being held virtually from August 3rd – 4th, 2020 from Campus I of Universitas Tarumanagara at Jl. Letjen S. Parman No. 1, Jakarta 11440, Indonesia. The 3rd TICATE 2020 is organized by Universitas Tarumanagara and technically sponsored by IOP Publishing. The reason why this conference was changed to virtual format is that due to COVID-19 Pandemic, there are travel restrictions and social distancing ruled by almost all governments in the world, including Indonesian government. We still hold partially the physical presentations regarding the healthy protocols suggested by World Health Organization.Instead of being postponed, we still hold this international conference virtually using Zoom Meeting because this conference is a forum for engineers, academics, practitioners, and students to exchange their experiences and knowledge. Many innovations and developments are being created from the last event to this one. These need to be shared among stake holders in the field of engineering and technology. Therefore, there is an urgent need to publish the newest results of researches in the conference proceedings.The 3rd TICATE 2020 has attracted many academicians, scientists, engineers, postgraduates and other professionals from many countries. This conference accepted 217 papers from 5 different countries, those are Australia, Taiwan, India, Malaysia, and Indonesia. The aim of the conference is to promote exchange of ideas among engineers, researchers, and scientists active in the related areas of technology and engineering.Our special thank goes to our Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir. The participants, including presenters at the parallel sessions, are attending this virtual international conference from Indonesia (Jakarta, Bandung, Medan, Yogyakarta, Aceh, Depok, Surabaya, etc.), Kuala Lumpur, Pulau Pinang (Malaysia), Australia, Taiwan, and India.The virtual format of the 3rd TICATE 2020 still provides very satisfying overall technical quality of the conference, e.g. in presenting the articles. Because we used Zoom Meeting as the platform and a good internet connection to hold this virtual conference, the conference can be attended by about 500 participants from 5 countries without any problem.We would like also to thank our partner international and national Universities in contributing and participating in this international conference. The synchrotron radiation facility NewSUBARU with nine beam-lines is operated by the Laboratory of Advanced Science and Technology for Industry, University of Hyogo, Japan. Gamma-ray beams are produced in the beam-line BL01 by laser Compton scattering (LCS) from 0.5–1.5 GeV electron beams in the NewSUBARU storage ring [1]. Lasers with different wavelengths are used to produce the LCS photon beam in the energy range from 0.5 MeV to 76 MeV: a Nd:YVO4 laser (λ = 1064 and 532 nm), a CO2 laser (λ = 10.59 μm), and an Er fiber laser (λ = 1540 nm). A new experimental hutch, GACKO (Gamma Collaboration Hutch of Konan University), was installed in the BL01 in March 2012.

One of the critical issues faced by educational institutions offering Islamic economics is development of curriculum. Structure of curriculum will determine the outcome of education process. This paper attempts to analyze curriculum structure of Islamic economics education at bachelor level offered by public universities in Indonesia and South East Asia. It selects Bogor Agricultural University and Airlangga University to represent public university in Indonesia and International Islamic University Malaysia to represent South East Asia. It also makes comparison on the systems prevailing in these three universities. This paper discusses attempts to standardize the curriculum at South East Asia regional and possibility to set up an association of Islamic economics study program which can be the media to share and strengthen the network among universities in the region.

Background Editorial board members, as experts in their field, often publish relevant research in journals on which they serve. This combined role of “editor-as-author” may be a source for conflict of interest in the peer review process. In Gastroenterology-focused journals, the prevalence of instances for editor-as-author has not been explored. Aims To estimate the prevalence of editor-as-author among high impact factor (IF) Gastroenterology-focused journals. Methods We used a cross-sectional study design. We used InCites Journal reports to identify 30 Gastroenterology journals with the highest IF in 2020, wherein we included journals that had publicly accessible board membership that indicated the following: institution/city/country; and at least the first name initial and entire last name for editorial board members. We created a list of all editorial board members, excluding any emeritus editors and society representatives. Among these journals, we identified all original research articles using the Web of Science, wherein we excluded any editorial material, meeting abstracts, and clinical practice guidelines. Among these original publications, two authors then independently and in duplicate determined any instances of authors who had editorial board membership. The primary outcome measure was the prevalence of editors-as-authors. Secondary outcomes involved the number of editorial board members with first authorships and senior/corresponding authorships, as well as the number of articles that disclosed editorial board membership. Results Among the 30 Gastroenterology-focused journals that had the highest IF, 24 met the relevant inclusion criteria. These journals had a total of 6162 original publications, of which 992 (16.1%) had at least one instance of editor-as-author; 8 (0.1%) articles disclosed that there was editorial board membership among its authors. Among all 24 included journals, there were a total 2106 editorial board members. Of these members, 635 (30.2%) had at least one instance of editor-as-author, wherein 134 and 263 members were first authors and senior/corresponding authors, respectively. Conclusions Our study found that approximately one third of editorial board members among high IF Gastroenterology-focused journals were also authors in these same journals. Future analysis will focus on determining whether there is the difference in quality of published work compared to those without editorial board membership. Funding Agencies None

This presentation aims to consider the process of inclusion and development of science and technology in developed and industrialized countries based on the experience of Japan's efforts as well as to present some observations on its prospects. After the Meiji Restoration, Japan aimed at catching up with the Western Great Powers and pushed for the rapid modernization with “Wealth and military strength”. At that time, Japan was not only changing political systems drastically but also integrating the Western Great Powers' advanced science and technology positively. As a result, in the days of World War I, Japan achieved entering permanent member of the League of Nations and came to occupy a big position globally. Although Japan was put under the control of allied powers, after the World War II, Japan planed integrating the overseas advanced technology again and will have current prosperity in one's hand afterwards. On the other hand, when we pay more attention abroad, the utilization of science and technology is essential to the right profit in the achievement of “Sustainable Development Goals” that is an action plan shown in “Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development” adopted in the United Nations General Assembly of September 2015, In Japan, 3rd Basic Plan on Ocean Policy approved by the Cabinet in May 2018 prescribes about promoting measures such as “Improve scientific knowledge”, “Promote Arctic policy” and others based on science and technology. Therefore, we must consider modality of science and technology for save the ocean as Japan's lifeline. In this presentation, we will focus on inclusion and development of science and technology in Japan's ocean policy and present modality of science and technology in developed and industrialized countries.
