Mangrove ecosystems can reduce CO2 through a mechanism of sequestration which is absorption of carbon from the atmosphere and its storage in several compartments such as plants, litter and soil organic matter. The purpose of this study was to determine carbon uptake in the mangrove vegetation of Rhizophora apiculata and Rhizophora mucronata in Banda Aceh. The research was carried out in two sampling sites, those were Gampong Jawa and Lambaro Skep Banda Aceh on January to March, 2018. This research was conducted at Marine Chemistry and marine Biology Laboratory, Faculty of Marine and Fisheries, Syiah Kuala University. The method used in this study was destructive sampling method. The results of the study showed that the amount of carbon absorption by Rhizophora apiculata and Rhizophora mucronata were 4033.33 g CO2/tree and 3888.36 g CO2/tree, respectively. The results of statistical calculations using the t-test showed that the carbon absorption of Rhizophora apiculata and Rhizophora mucronata did not different significantly, where the value of p> 0.05 (p = 0.33). Furthermore, the differences between sites also showed that the two stations were not significantly different, with a value of p>0.05 (p = 0.47).

The demand for specialists in the field of chemistry and chemical engineering capable of solving applied management tasks at industry enterprises with the aim of developing environmental protection chemical technologies became the reason for starting the training of such specialists within the walls of the Khmelnytskyi National University (KhNU). Educational program (ЕP) Chemical technologies and engineering is the only one for this specialty in Khmelnytskyi region, therefore the industry and regional contexts are the basis of the goal and objectives of training specialists in chemical technologies. One of the mandatory components of the master's training in chemical technologies and engineering is "Quality of raw materials and products of chemical technologies". As you know, the lion's share of industrial production in our country is the production and processing of agricultural products, and Khmelnytskyi region is traditionally one of the leaders in the production of grain crops throughout Ukraine. The following factors affect the quality of grain in the Khmelnytskyi region. A wide range of varieties of grain crops adapted to local conditions are grown in the region. Modern growing technologies, use of fertilizers and plant protection products contribute to obtaining high-quality grain. A favorable climate contributes to the accumulation of nutrients in grain. Fertile soils of the region ensure high yield and quality of grain. Regular control of grain quality in the Khmelnytsky region is subject to constant control with the help of laboratory tests. Grain produced in the region, as a rule, meets the requirements of state standards of Ukraine and international standards. Thus, іn order to ensure the high quality of grain indicators, it is necessary to introduce a system of ensuring and controlling the quality of raw materials and products of the agricultural industry at a sufficiently high level. For these reasons, it is expedient at the department of chemistry and chemical engineering within the educational component "Quality of raw materials and products of chemical technologies" ЕР of the master's level to participate, among other tasks, in the examination and quality control of cereals. This applies both to the study of the regulatory framework for grain quality assurance and control, and to laboratory research methods, most of which are possible with the available material and technical support of the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering.

Economic growth can caused by various factors, one of them is capital growth. Capital in the form of availability of good quality infrastructure will increase investment, connectivity, economic growth and human welfare. After the Tsunami, Banda Aceh focused on re-providing infrastructure. Some of infrastructure that developed very prominent are: electricity, clean water, education and health. At the same time, the economic growth in Banda Aceh has increased, but the rate of economic growth tends to fluctuate and in 2017, the rate of economic growth is only 3.05%. This study aims to determine the effects of infrastructure development on economic growth in Banda Aceh. This study use quantitative descriptive method with multiple linear regression analysis tools. The data used came from PLN Banda Aceh, PDAM Tirta Daroy and BPS Banda Aceh (2003-2017). The variables in this study consisted of the dependent variable: economic growth, and independent variables: road infrastructure, clean water infrastructure, electricity infrastructure, education infrastructure and health infrastructure. The results show that there was an effects between infrastructure development on economic growth in Banda Aceh. Infrastructure that has a significant effects on economic growth is clean water infrastructure, education infrastructure and health infrastructure, while road infrastructure and electricity infrastructure has no effects on economic growth. Base on the results, the government should make policies to increasing the quantity and quality of infrastructure. It will assist in promoting economic growth in the future.

Polyethylene Glycole Effectivity as Selection Agent to Soybean: Kipas Merah from Bireun Radiated with Gamma Ray for Drought Stress Tolerance ABSTRACT . The purpose of this research is to know the effectivity of Polytethylene Glycole (PEG) in drought simulation in vitro to soybean – Kipas Merah from Bireun – radiated with gamma ray. Research was conducted in Tissue Culture Laboratory, Agriculture Faculty, Syiah Kuala University, Darussalam, Banda Aceh. Gamma ray radiation conducted at Research Development of Isotop and Radiation Technology of BATAN, Pasar Jum`at, Jakarta. The results show that increasing in PEG concentration into selection medium in vitro , decrease soybean seed germination percentage. Twenty percent of PEG concentration can be use as sub lethal concentration for the next drought selection attempt. Gamma ray radiation cause variation to seed germination percentage and seed growth in vitro .

The 2nd International Conference on Tropical and Coastal Region Eco Development (ICTCRED) 2016 was held by Research and Community Services Institute, Diponegoro University, Indonesia in Bali during 25-27 October 2016. Bali, the god island amid pleasant surroundings, was a delightful place for this conference. The 165 research papers were presented both by oral and poster presentation, and the conference had delivered many fruitful discussions and exchanges that contributed to the success of the conference. Among these papers, we selected 72 papers through intensive review by scientific committee. Participants from 10 countries made the conference truly international in scope and the presentations were split into two main conference areas, i.e., tropical life sciences and Coastal Region Developments. There were 7 plenary lectures covering the different areas of the conference: Prof. Ocky Karna Radjasa (Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education) talked on Policy on Coastal Research in Indonesia, Prof. Ambariyanto (Diponegoro University) on Update in Coastal Development, Prof. Makoto Tsuchiya (University of the Ryukyus – Japan) on Coral Reef Ecosystem, Prof. Peter Gell (Federation University of Australia – Australia) on Pollution and Coastal Environmental Changes in Tropical Region, Prof. Johan C. Winterwerp (TU Delft, Netherlands) on Restoring eroding mangrove-mud coasts through Building with Nature. These plenary speakers have given significant scientific contributions to the conference.Participants have delivered their talks of valuable research outputs which are varies from extracting valuable compounds from marine environment and convert them to specialty products. During the presentation, marine products and their processing were also elaborated with developments in oceanography technology, coastal environment management and policies. These topics were more fruitful when researches in social science and its developments especially at the coastal area were also presented. These wide range of topics have colorized this conference.Finally, it is appropriate that we record our thanks to our fellow members of the Organizing Committee and of the Scientific Committee for their work in maintaining high quality of papers and in encouraging participation from those areas. We are also indebted to those who served as chairman of Institute of Research and Community Services, Diponegoro University and Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education for their financial supports. This research examined the implementation of Adiwiyata Program in the effort to create environmental cultured school in Banda Aceh. This research used quantitative study paradigm by using survey technique. This study was conducted in ten schools in Banda Aceh from elementary to secondary school levels by involving 452 respondents, which consist of school principals/vice principals, Adiwiyata coordinators, administrative staff and students. Data collection was done through questionnaire and observation. The result of study showed that in general Adiwiyata Program implementation is in effective category. This described that in general the four components of Adiwiyata Program had been implemented effective. Nevertheless, result of study found various obstacles encountered by school in implementing Adiwiyata Program. This article delve and describe in depth the implementation of Adiwiyata Program, so various obstacles encountered by school can be found out in order to implement Adiwiyata Program in Banda Aceh. It is hoped that the result of study can give insight to stakeholder to take the steps forward in the effort to create environmental cultured school. Event Abstract Back to Event Sulfated Glycopolymers for glycosaminoglycan mimics and nanomedicine Yoshiko Miura1, Tomohiro Fukuda2 and Yu Hoshino1 1 Kyushu University, Department of Chemical Engineering, Japan 2 National Institute of Technology, Toyama college, Department of Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Japan Glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) are polysaccharides found in living systems that play key roles in biological activities and also function as polyelectrolyte. The preparation of GAGs is important in view of biomaterials development, and total syntheses have been energetically studied by many researchers. However, it is difficult to attain the total syntheses of GAGs due to the complex chemical structure and large molecular sizes. We investigated the preparation GAGs mimic polymer and application of nanomedicine via glycopolymer methods. We tried to reconstruct the function of GAGs by glycopolymers of regioselective sulfated saccharides. Glycopolymers provides the strong binding based on the multivalency. In addition, glycopolymer libraries are easily prepared by the radical polymerization. We prepared the phenyl acrylamides with sulfonated N-acetyl glucosamines (GlcNAc) of 6-sulfo-. 3-sulfo-, 4-sulfo and 3,4, 6-sulfo-GlcNAc. The monomers of sulfonated GlcNAc were synthesized by glycosylation, regioselective sulfonation of GlcNAc and condensation with acrylate. The monomers were polymerized with other vinyl monomers to prepare the glycopolymer and glyconanoparticles (Figure 1). We investigated the affinities of the GAGs mimic glycopolymers with pathogen proteins. The glycopolymers with 6-sulfo-GlcNAc exhibited the inhibitory effect on Alzheimer’s amyloid beta peptides. The inhibitory effects depended on the sugar ratio and the molecular weights of the polymers. The GAGs mimic array was prepared to analyze the interaction with amyloid beta peptides. The enzyme (b-secretase) for Alzheimer disease was also inhibited by the GAGs mimic polymers. The nanoparticle with GAGs mimic monomer was also prepared to capture the specific proteins. These results showed the usefulness of the glycopolymers comparing to the real GAGs. The glycopolymers are applicable to the many kinds of materials including synthetic polymer, particle, nanoparticles and thin layer formations, which are useful for bionanomaterial and nanomedicine fabrications.
