Presentation and Analysis of a Research Work

In smart grid, more data will be collected at finer granularity. It will promote the development of power system control and innovation technology. With the advantages of cloud computing technology are becoming increasingly prominent, it is gradually entering into power industry research. This paper focuses on cloud-based data processing and analysis techniques of user side in smart grid. To prove that the integration of cloud computing, smart grid, data analysis technique is practical, we introduced the cloud platform architecture designed for data processing and its key technologies first. Then, main sections of cloud-based data processing, including data collection, storage, analysis and visualization are discussed. Especially, based on smart grid scenes, data analysis methods in data analysis section are described in detail.

Research work is one of the most difficult types of independent work of applicants for the second level of higher education (master's students), the implementation of which requires special knowledge and skills. For master's cadets, preparing and writing a master's thesis is the first experience of research activity. In the Kherson State Maritime Academy, for master's cadets specializing in «Navigation and Management of Sea Vessels», the course «Modern Methods of Scientific Research and Data Processing» (MMSRDP) is provided, which, according to the curriculum and educational and professional program, is included in the cycle of professional training. The program of the academic discipline «Modern Methods of Scientific Research and Data Processing» is drawn up in accordance with the Code of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers STCW-78, IMO-MODEL COURSE 7.01, 7.03. and according to EPP. The direction of our research is to improve the teaching of the course «Modern Methods of Scientific Research and Data Processing» in the Kherson State Maritime Academy to achieve more significant standards of professional competence of applicants for the second level of higher education (master's students) in the specialization «Navigation and Management of Marine Vessels» of KhSMA. This article examines two of the most important components of the MMSRDP course. The first is the «starting» knowledge of the methodology and methods of scientific research, namely, the most significant classical paradigms that determine the essence of the concepts of methodology and methods of scientific research, concepts and issues of modern methods of empirical and theoretical research. The second, no less important component of the MMSRDP course is the study by master's students of specific methods and techniques of data processing and analysis. Our further research is aimed at a more detailed consideration of the second component of the MMSRDP course - the study by master's students of specific methods and techniques of data processing and analysis in the field of technical sciences, in particular, in the field of navigation, which are most necessary for master's students of the navigation specialty, as well as the development of a set of individual tasks for master's students aimed at the application of specific methods and techniques of data collection and analysis

Chapter 6 - Naturalistic Driving Studies and Data Coding and Analysis Techniques

Biomedical signal processing and data analysis play pivotal roles in the advanced medical expert system solutions. Signal processing tools are able to diminish the potential artifact effects and improve the anticipative signal quality. Data analysis techniques can assist in reducing redundant data dimensions and extracting dominant features associated with pathological status. Recent computational methods have greatly improved the effectiveness of signal processing and data analysis, to support the efficient point-of-care diagnosis and accurate medical decision-making. This editorial article highlights the research works published in the special issue of Computational Methods for Physiological Signal Processing and Data Analysis. The context introduces three deep learning applications in epileptic seizure detection, human exercise intensity analysis, and lung nodule CT image segmentation, respectively. The article also summarizes the research works on detection of event-related potential in the single-trial electroencephalogram (EEG) signals during the auditory tests, along with the methodology on estimating the generalized exponential distribution parameters using the simulated and real data produced under the Type I generalized progressive hybrid censoring schemes. The article concludes with perspectives and discussions on future trends in biomedical signal processing and data analysis technologies.

<div class="htmlview paragraph">Significant reductions in motor vehicle emissions are possible through the implementation of inspection and maintenance (I/M) programs. However, the potential benefits of I/M are obviously not achieved when specific inspection requirements are ignored or improperly performed. In addition, I/M benefits may be substantially reduced when improper repair procedures are used on vehicles which fail the test.</div> <div class="htmlview paragraph">In order for the “theoretical” benefits of I/M to be achieved, certain program design and enforcement procedures are necessary. The use of instrumentation and data analysis methods capable of identifying individuals who are improperly performing inspections and repairs is critical. Under the I/M programs developed for use in the state of Alaska, data analysis techniques are employed which identify mechanics who are reporting invalid information about the vehicles they inspect, failing to repair an excessive number of vehicles, or reporting visual inspection failure rates that are much higher or much lower than the norm. Similar data analysis methods are being used under the California I/M program.</div> <div class="htmlview paragraph">Based on analyses of currently operating programs, it is clear that modified instrumentation and data analysis techniques can further enhance the ability to identify inspectors and mechanics who need additional instruction or other remedial action. Progress in this area will significantly affect the air quality benefits of I/M.</div>

Radio has played a significant role in the spread of health information and continues to do so. Examples of the many campaigns that have benefited from radio include those against HIV and AIDS, immunisation campaigns, oral rehydration therapy, the fight against malaria, the Kick Polio Out campaign, the Wash Your Hand campaign during the August 2014 Ebola outbreak, the Family Planning Adoption Campaign as well as the campaign against the recent Covid-19 Pandemic. Hence, this study aims at finding out the knowledge, perception and attitude of married male employees in South-West, Nigeria, about family planning based on their exposure to Radio Health Messages on family planning. With three objectives and three research hypotheses, this study was anchored on Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB). This study employed the cross-sectional survey research design with questionnaire as the instrument of data collection. Using Multi-stage sampling technique and Cochran formula of sample size calculation, six hundred and thirty-four (634) respondents were selected as the sample size across nine local government areas chosen in the south-western part of Nigeria. Findings shows that married men's perceptions and knowledge of family planning were significantly influenced by Family Planning Radio Health Messages, but not their attitudes towards the practice. Also, it was revealed that respondents were aware of family planning and its purposes, as well as some of the methods and how to apply them but they disagreed that family planning (FP) is beneficial for women who are still having children and that FP radio health messages are frequently directed towards men. As recommendation, Family Planning Radio Health Messages focus more on teaching the target audience on the various family planning methods available and ensure that Family Planning Radio Health Messages take a very descriptive approach, painting a mental picture and semblance of reality for simple understanding due to the visual disadvantage of radio. Also, Family Planning Radio Health Messages should be refocused to target men not just women alone since men have the headship position to make some decisions in many families in the south-western part of Nigeria. This volume of Journal of Physics: Conference Series is dedicated to scientific contributions presented at the 14th International Workshop on Advanced Computing and Analysis Techniques in Physics Research (ACAT 2011) which took place on 5–7 September 2011 at Brunel University, UK. Over 80 other talks and posters presented state-of-the art developments in the areas of the workshop's three tracks: Computing Technologies, Data Analysis Algorithms and Tools, and Computational Techniques in Theoretical Physics. In the recent era of the Internet of Things, the dominant role of sensors and the Internet provides a solution to a wide variety of real-life problems. Such applications include smart city, smart healthcare systems, smart building, smart transport and smart environment. However, the real-time IoT sensor data include several challenges, such as a deluge of unclean sensor data and a high resource-consumption cost. As such, this paper addresses how to process IoT sensor data, fusion with other data sources, and analyses to produce knowledgeable insight into hidden data patterns for rapid decision-making. This paper addresses the data processing techniques such as data denoising, data outlier detection, missing data imputation and data aggregation. Further, it elaborates on the necessity of data fusion and various data fusion methods such as direct fusion, associated feature extraction, and identity declaration data fusion. This paper also aims to address data analysis integration with emerging technologies, such as cloud computing, fog computing and edge computing, towards various challenges in IoT sensor network and sensor data analysis. In summary, this paper is the first of its kind to present a complete overview of IoT sensor data processing, fusion and analysis techniques.

Sensory-instrumental correlations by combining data analysis and neural network techniques

The Photovoltaics for Utility Scale Applications (PVUSA) project tests two types of PV systems at the main test site in Davis, California: new module technologies fielded as 20-kW Emerging Module Technology (EMT) arrays and more mature technologies fielded as 70- to 500-kW turnkey Utility-Scale (US) systems. PVUSA members have also installed systems in their service areas. Designed appropriately, data acquisition systems (DASs) can be a convenient and reliable means of assessing system performance, value, and health. Improperly designed, they can be complicated, difficult to use and maintain, and provide data of questionable validity. This report documents PVUSA PV system instrumentation and data analysis techniques and lessons learned. The report is intended to assist utility engineers, PV system designers, and project managers in establishing an objective, then, through a logical series of topics, facilitate selection and design of a DAS to meet the objective. Report sections include Performance Reporting Objectives (including operational versus research DAS), Recommended Measurements, Measurement Techniques, Calibration Issues, and Data Processing and Analysis Techniques. Conclusions and recommendations based on the several years of operation and performance monitoring are offered. This report is one in a series of 1994--1995 PVUSA reports documenting PVUSA lessons learned at the demonstration sites in Davis and Kerman, California. Other topical reports address: five-year assessment of EMTs; validation of the Kerman 500-kW grid support PV plant benefits; construction and safety experience in installing and operating PV systems; balance-of-system design and costs; procurement, acceptance, and rating practices for PV power plants; experience with power conditioning units and power quality.

The main aim of this article is to discuss the factors a researcher should take into account when selecting the appropriate research design or method (i.e. qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods). The article also discusses sample size determination and sampling procedures in qualitative and quantitative research. Further, the paper has provided an examination of qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis methods. The study used online desk research to collect data from online public access scholarly databases such as Google Scholar, ResearchGate, Academia, and many more freely accessible electronic books in research methods. A wealth of relevant and timely scholarly literature was downloaded, read, and used to write this paper, and draw the conclusion provided. Under the applicable regulations protection are not prohibited from conducting sale / purchase transactions or guarantees for the price of children who are not old enough with their permission. The research methodology in this study uses qualitative methods, the locus of research, Surakarta City area. Data collection techniques carried out by interview. Results of study: Child legal protection in customary law, has a large role regarding the distribution and allocation or distribution of assets which become inheritance in the form of land rights. 2. Obligations of mothers based on Javanese traditional law as the mother of their three children, still has the right as well as the responsibility to take care of her children, who are still under age because physically and psychologically. Javanese traditional law gives permission to biological parents to act as guardians of their underage children, however, requests for permission to conduct sale and purchase transactions or guarantees of land owned by minors that do not violate Islamic religious rules and do not need to get District Court approval. This is done if it is done for the benefit of the child concerned. 3. Mother's position in guaranteeing the inheritance rights of children. Javanese traditional law places a great deal on “rembugan” in the management of inherited land. In its efforts to secure land for the purpose of submitting the use of children's inheritance in general, it is limited only for the purpose of children's needs and children's welfare. Suggestions that the author can give are as follows: 1) That the legal protection of children occurs in the pattern of traditional Inheritance Law with the Parental system, it is necessary to immediately make a National Inheritance Law. 2) That it is considered a formal decision governing Customary Law arrangements does not invite a dilemma between Customary Law and Positive Law relating to bank guarantees

The measurement and data analysis used to evaluate highway roughness

Spectroscopic ellipsometry is an important thin film metrology technique. It offers non-destructive and non-invasive materials characterization, including measurement of the complex refractive index and other microstructural properties that affect the material optical response. It has been applied to many important ultra large scale integration (ULSI) thin-film metrology needs; as it is applicable to semiconductors, dielectrics, metals, organic films, and more. Recent advances have broadened the impact of ellipsometry for many applications. New instruments are extending the spectral range to both shorter and longer wavelengths. High-speed spectroscopic measurements can be accomplished with diode-array technology. In addition to hardware advances, new data analysis techniques have extended the capabilities of spectroscopic ellipsometry. The advanced capabilities of spectroscopic ellipsometry will be reviewed, including the importance of new spectral ranges in the vacuum ultra-violet (VUV) and infrared (IR). The merit of fast measurements for in-line and in-situ measurements is covered. New data analysis methods are discussed, with their possible applications toward ULSI thin film metrology. In short, this paper reviews the progress of hardware and data analysis innovations and their impact on ULSI thin film metrology.
