Quality of Service in home network: VLAN zeroconfiguration network

The question of quality of service in networks of the latest generation is studied. The impact of heterogeneous traffic on the main quality of service indicators reflecting the probability of packet loss and delivery delay over time is evaluated. A model of quality of service in information communication networks has been developed to ensure low traffic delay. Taking into account the concept of quality in information communication networks, the issue of quality of service in networks of the latest generation becomes important from the standpoint of ensuring high reliability and reliability of information transmission, which significantly affects the quality of services provided to the user. This, of course, determines the need to control various parameters of equipment and communication lines, which are determined both by the features of the transmission system and by the parameters of leased channels and tracts. The basis for determining the quality of service, as mentioned above, is the provision of the international concept of quality of service (QoS). According to the requirements of the compliance control model proposed in the concept, the approach to quality indicators is structurally related to the OSI reference model. The main advantages of modern technologies of information communication networks are undoubtedly 5G technologies, which already support such resource-intensive services as massive machine-to-machine communication, ultra-reliable communication and low-latency communication. All of them require high data transfer rates, low millisecond latency, and connectivity of millions of devices. At the same time, it is necessary to ensure a high level of quality of service (QoS), which plays an important role in 5G technologies. The proposed model makes it possible to evaluate not only the quality of service of the combined traffic flow of Internet of Things, tactile Internet, and augmented reality services, but also the delivery delay and the probability of packet loss. The simulation results showed that the parameters of the quality of service of the traffic of the Internet of Things and other modern applications differ significantly during the service of the aggregate flow. When studying the service of aggregated traffic, it was established that the probability of packet loss is higher for it than for Internet of Things traffic. In addition, this difference becomes more significant when the intensity of the incoming load increases.

Quality of Service (QoS) provision in home networks based on end-user preferences or requirements is an important and complex task. Current mobile devices with new communication capabilities have boosted the apparition of multimedia scenarios where users could easily create ad hoc multimedia sessions by friendly providing their requirements and preferences like QoS preferences. In order to dynamically integrate end-users QoS preferences or requirements when using such multimedia systems, end-users require frameworks which allow them to generate the required multimedia sessions. This work introduces an ontology based framework aimed at integrating end-user QoS preferences and requirements for multimedia services. A case study is presented in order to illustrate the use of this framework in the context of extended home networks.

In home networks, the device collaboration service has challenging issues to provide QoS (Quality of Service) for its users with heterogeneous consumer electronic devices. However, existing schemes do not guarantee quality of multimedia contents. To cope with these problems, this paper presents a simple but effective media quality control scheme that can improve quality of collaborative streaming-based media contents. The proposed scheme controls collaboration contents according to the number of available collaboration devices at home and media quality based on available network bandwidth. The experimental result shows that the proposed scheme can significantly improve user-perceived quality.

Many people now receive various multimedia services through their personal devices via a home network. The rapid growth in multimedia content and smart devices means that multimedia services can encounter many problems in home networks. High volumes of storage capacity and processing resources are required manage these large amounts of media content. In addition, users may find it difficult to receive smooth streaming services in remote places because of limited remote access functions. To address these problems, we propose a model that uses cloud computing technology to store and manage large volumes of multimedia content. The proposed model provides remote access functions for receiving multimedia services in home networks and in wireless local area networks (WLANs). The model has four components, i.e., the Assistant Gateway, cloud server, remote controller, and media device renderer. The Assistant Gateway is an important component in the proposed model. It can access a cloud server to obtain multimedia content information before sending it to users in a home network. Thus, users can receive home media streaming services via the Assistant Gateway using a media device renderer. Based on this model, we implemented each component to support streaming service for users in remote areas.

In recent year, rapid advancement of UPnP technology cause development of a variety of UPnP devices. In addition, various UPnP services developed for the devices. In home network environment, user needs continual UPnP service. However, the services based on UPnP are not provided continually, because of imperfect matching among the heterogeneous devices. To solve these problems, this paper proposes an automated method of matching for UPnP devices for user mobility and continual UPnP service in home network and cloud computing environments. The proposed method of automated device matching uses a mobile agent for providing reliable QoS in real-time. The mobile agent regularly searches for UPnP devices in the home network. In addition, the searched device information is registered in control system by mobile agent that monitors state of the searched device. Users use the service that is allocated from mobile agent in real-time when users access home network. To provide QoS to interdevice, mobile agent analyses relationship between user device and service device. Then, the mobile agent connect user device with service device which has high priority. Thus, user can use continual service in different environments.

Distributed middleware technology is emerging as a flexible promising solution for network resource management and QoS (quality of service) control in a distributed environment. The concept of dynamic bandwidth reservation (DBR) algorithm additionally allocates the terminated bandwidth for an ongoing call is one of the promising methods to reduce the new call blocking and handoff call dropping probabilities. Dynamic resource management (DRM) framework concentrates on design and developing a framework for allocating shared resources to support multiple QoS and to provide probabilistic assurances of service in wireless networks. Existing methods and architecture do not guarantee on resource allocation and management in mobile, wireless and ad hoc networks. When a mobile node (MN) moves from its home network (HN) to foreign network (FN), the minimal required resources and services can be provided locally in the current network where it is connected presently. Dynamic resource management (DRM) framework provides an application level simulator for wireless network with new QoS management concept. DRM framework comprises of a set of programmable distributed objects and distributed middleware. DRM framework is constructed using distributed objects and distributed middleware. Distributed object carry applications across networks and allow them to connect to local server with FN in the same way as they had moved from the HN. The framework must dynamically accommodate multimedia calls with different bandwidth requirements in response to network traffic and it supports mobility management. The utility of DRM framework describes how the required resources are reserved based on the user priority option in an adaptive manner. The proposed DBR algorithm guarantees the required bandwidth during call setup and handoff without any flow rejection.

Background. The introduction of fifth-generation (5G) networks creates new opportunities for fast and continuous data exchange, but there are still some problems with the quality of voice services in such networks. With the rapid development of technology and the further spread of 5G, there is a need to understand the impact of key aspects of 5G on voice quality. This requires research that can systematically analyse the features of 5G networks that affect the quality of voice services. Objective. Identification of ways to improve the quality of voice services in 5G networks. Assessment of key indicators of voice service quality in 5G networks. Determination of the best option for the gradual transition to the Standalone mode and the use of VoNR technology in the fifth generation networks. Methods. Analysis of factors affecting the quality of voice services in fifth-generation networks. Analysis of well-known publications on the implementation of 5G networks. Comparison of the implementation of Non-Standalone and Standalone modes in the 5G network. Testing of the modern EVS codec, which provides an opportunity to improve the customer experience. Results. Confirmation that 5G networks can significantly improve the quality of voice services compared to previous mobile communication technologies such as 4G and 3G. Certain factors that may affect the quality of voice services and require additional attention when planning and deploying 5G networks are identified. The optimal steps for the transition to the Standalone mode and the use of VoNR technology in fifth-generation networks are determined. The main differences in the QoS architecture between LTE and 5G are identified, and the purpose of DRB flows for separating traffic types and services is established. Conclusions. It has been confirmed that 5G networks can significantly improve the quality of voice services compared to previous technologies such as 4G and 3G. This is possible due to the broadband capabilities of 5G networks, improved data transmission, low latency, the use of an advanced EVS codec and reduced response time. However, certain factors, such as network coverage, optimisation level and traffic characteristics, can affect the quality of voice services and require additional attention when planning and deploying 5G networks. The QoS management architecture consists of QoS flows, which allow separating packet assignment to flows (managed by the CN) from the assignment of DRB flows (managed by the RAN). As 5G networks are being rolled out gradually, it is important to properly integrate the 5G domain into the existing telecoms provider's network. The transition from Non-Standalone to Dual connectivity is a necessary step for the implementation of VoNR technology in Standalone mode. Using the modern EVS codec allows not only improving the customer experience, but also introducing new voice services.

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) comprise of groups of tiny sensor nodes that are deployed for collaborative missions such as environmental monitoring, target tracking and surveillance. Due to the miniature size of the nodes, they are typically deployed in large numbers and communicate via multiple hops through a wireless shared communication channel. The successful implementation of such networks is dependent on the enabling technologies (such as digital electronics and wireless communications), as well as the provisioning of Quality of Service (QoS) in the network. While there have been many efforts in QoS provisioning in traditional networks such as the Internet and Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANETs), these networks have very different characteristics from that of WSNs. Consequently, the QoS models and protocols that have been designed for the Internet and MANETs cannot be directly applied to WSNs. In this paper, we look at some of the existing QoS mechanisms in the networking literature, and the inherent characteristics of WSNs which make it challenging to provision for QoS in the network. We then identify some key performance metrics for WSN QoS and outline some mechanisms to achieve QoS in the sensor network. Finally, we propose WISER - a framework to enhance QoS in WIreless SEnsoR networks.

In an era of rapid urbanization, the quality of network services in urban environments is becoming increasingly important. This article explores efforts to improve network service quality in several sampang cities through an evaluation of Quality of Service (QoS) and user perceptions of Quality of Experience (QoE). The research is based on a survey conducted at various locations in sampang city to collect data on the reliability, speed, and availability of network services. The survey involved a diverse sample of users, covering a wide range of ages, professions, and levels of technology usage. In addition, we also analyzed users' perceptions of service quality based on their experiences of using the network in an urban environment. The results highlighted several key challenges in improving QoS, such as user density, signal interference, and network infrastructure limitations. However, we also found that strategies such as the use of advanced network technologies, such as 5G and beamforming, as well as traffic prioritization based on application type, can help to significantly improve QoS. In addition, we found a strong positive correlation between improved QoS and improved QoE, suggesting that improved quality of service has a direct impact on improving user experience. These findings provide valuable insights for network operators and policy makers in their efforts to improve network services in dense urban environments. The research also recommends further investment in network technologies and the development of policies that support more effective management of network traffic to ensure optimal quality of service.

Quality of Service (QoS) management in home networks becomes a complex function when dealing with dynamic evolution of user requirements and network services. Autonomous management of QoS asks for decision models able to incorporate this evolving nature of requirements and services. In this paper, we propose an extensible framework that integrates a semantic space for user requirements and preferences aimed at guiding an autonomous QoS decision model. The use of this framework is illustrated in the context of QoS management in home networks.

Future IP QoS (quality of service) networks are aiming at differentiating transfer quality of packets belonging to different flows. For this purpose, a set of network services (NS) with different QoS objectives is defined and implemented in the network. To a NS a certain amount of network resources, i.e. dedicated link capacity with associated buffer size, is allocated. Moreover, the resources dedicated for one NS are not available for other NSs. Traditional approach for admission control algorithm corresponding to given NS takes into account current traffic conditions inside considered NS. This can lead to the situation, due to traffic fluctuations, that temporary overloaded NS cannot use the spare bandwidth from underloaded in this time other NSs. This paper describes a conditional admission control algorithm (C-AC),allowing us to admit new packet flow conditionally in the case where no available capacity inside a given NS. For conditionally accepted flow currently unused capacity, dedicated to other NS, is allocated. This can be done only in the case when QoS requirements for both the conditionally accepted flow and the flows in progress are satisfied. The conditions for effective using of C-AC algorithm are discussed in the paper, like characteristics of NS borrowing and lending capacity and their current traffic load. To show potential benefits of the approach, exemplary numerical results are included, corresponding to hypothetical NSs using REM (rate envelope multiplexing) scheme.

Ensuring Quality of Service (QoS) and efficient load balancing in cloud communication networks is critical for optimizing resource allocation, minimizing latency, and enhancing service reliability. Traditional load balancing strategies often fail to scale and adapt to dynamic cloud environments, resulting in network congestion, resource underutilization, and increased operational costs. This study presents a novel Genetic Algorithm (GA)-based hyperheuristic optimization framework integrated with a mathematical model for QoS-aware load balancing, designed to address the challenges of scalability and efficiency. The model is referred to as GAHO\textsubscript{QoS}. We introduce valid inequalities to strengthen the optimization formulation, accelerating convergence and improving solution quality. Our GA-hyperheuristic framework dynamically selects and combines multiple low-level heuristics to optimize task allocation across cloud servers while adhering to QoS constraints such as latency, throughput, and energy efficiency. Experimental evaluations on a range of cloud communication scenarios demonstrate that GAHO\textsubscript{QoS} significantly reduces service latency, balances workload distribution, and optimizes resource utilization. Comparative analysis with existing metaheuristic methods, including $GA-PSO$ and $SA-GA$, confirms that the proposed framework outperforms traditional approaches in terms of computational efficiency, scalability, and QoS satisfaction. GAHO\textsubscript{QoS} provides an adaptable, computationally efficient solution for enhancing cloud network performance, contributing to the development of high-performance, energy-efficient, and robust cloud infrastructures.
