Quantify the Value Added by Financial Advice: A Life Cycle Evaluation Framework

This paper covers the research on using instant messengers’ chatbots to provide automated financial advice to manufacturing engineering enterprises employees in the scope of a chatbot application, which helps to calculate personal savings programs to ensure a constant level of consumption. The paper aims to develop telegram bots for personalized financial advice of manufacturing engineering enterprises staff. The application uses a model of life-cycle hypothesis and generates a customized saving plan based on the information provided by a user. The factors affecting decisions regarding advice include previous satisfaction with decision-making, investors’ preferences, perceived difficulty, the relationship between financial literacy, expertise, and confidence. Different approaches to developing messengers’ bots have been compared. The paper also gives a brief overview of the life-cycle approach, which suggests that finance managers plan consumption and savings behavior over the whole life cycle of their personnel. It is proved that the quality and cost of production is affected by the product design quality to a large extend, so the evaluation on product design is very necessary. The problem of traditional evaluation method is analyzed in this paper, and the conception of product design quality evaluation in life cycle is proposed. A flexible hierarchy evaluation index system structure is set up to support the computer-aided evaluation. According to the characteristic of evaluation index system the method of F-G (Fuzzy and Grey theory) evaluation is used, which provide a new method to realize the comprehensive evaluation of product design quality.

The whole life cycle carbon emission of buildings was calculated in this paper. Based on the whole life cycle evaluation theory, a carbon emission calculation model was established by using a single urban building as an example. The whole life cycle building of carbon emission calculation includes five stages: planning and design, building materials preparation, construction, operational maintenance, as well as dismantlement. It provides a reference for standardizing the calculation process of building carbon emissions by analyzed the carbon emissions and composition characteristics of each stage of the life cycle of the case house. The calculation results demonstrate that the carbon emission during the operational maintenance and building materials preparation stages in the whole life cycle of the building account for 78.05% and 20.59% respectively. These are the two stages with the greatest emission reduction potential.

In this paper, a procedure based on digraph and matrix approach is presented for carrying out life cycle design and evaluation of mechanical systems, at system conceptual design stage. Features which characterize life cycle aspects of the system are identified and are called attributes of life cycle of a the system. Consideration of these attributes and their interrelations are rudiment in design and evaluation of life cycle of the system. This is modeled in terms of life cycle Design (LCD) attributes digraph for the system. Nodes in the digraph represent attributes and their relations are represented by their edges. The digraph is represented by one-to-one matrix for development of life cycle design (LCD) expression, which is characteristics of the system. A variable life cycle design attributes permanent matrix is defined to develop VPF-d which is also useful in comparing two design concepts of the system. Life cycle design Index (LCD-I) is obtained from permanent of the matrix or from the LCD expression by substituting numerical values of the attributes and their interrelations. A higher value of the index implies good LCD of the system. The ideal value of LCD index (III) is also obtained from the matrix expression, which is useful in assessing the relative LCD, of the system alternatives. The procedure is useful in design and development of LCD of the system. A step by step procedure for evaluation of LCD index is also suggested and is illustrated by means of an example.

This paper examines a holistic, life cycle approach to Islamic wealth planning and management in relation to risk tolerance. In determining asset allocation, Islamic wealth planning must consider more than the risk-return trade-off of financial assets and take into account life cycle financial advice. This paper adapts a life balance sheet accounting approach that reflects both explicit and implicit Shari’ah compliant items in determining core capital, non-discretionary and discretionary wealth. The significance is that a Muslim wealth manager can objectively determine risk tolerance from implied leverage within the discretionary wealth framework of life cycle financial advice that better reflects the private client’s emotional goals and provides more flexibility in asset allocation. This contrasts with traditional net worth analysis of product-orientated personal financial planning that includes a subjective risk tolerance function derived from a questionnaire in determining asset allocation. This paper proposes a more holistic, sophisticated, goal-orientated approach, thereby enhancing the delivery of Shari’ah compliant Islamic wealth management services.

Developing a systematic framework for integrating life cycle carbon emission assessment in urban building energy modeling

Increasing fuel cost and concern regarding emissions have incurred focus on energy conservation on offshore oil and gas installations. On the Norwegian continental shelf there has been an increased commercial value of natural gas and a CO2- tax on fuel consumption the last 10 years. For the time being the alternative value of natural gas is in the range 0 to 0.06 EUR/Sm3 and consumption of fuel is taxed with approx. 0.09 EUR/Sm3 burned. This has brought forward significant changes in operational procedures and technology development on the Norwegian oil and gas installations compared to installations in other oil and gas regions throughout the world. Focus has increased on keeping the power requirement down, avoiding unnecessary fuel consumption and designing more energy efficient systems. The most efficient way of achieving this is by installing cold process flares and steam cycles on existing or new gas turbines to form Combined Cycles (CC). In Norway three steam cycle plants fueled by gas turbine exhaust are under completion on offshore oil and gas installations. The overall electrical efficiency of these plants is around 50%. When steam is extracted for process heat the overall thermal efficiency is higher. Compared to conventional simple cycles the combined cycle reduces consumption of fuel gas and emissions of CO2 and NOX with minimum 25%. When designed as alternative to conventional simple cycle solutions, a combined cycle represents an alternative investment reducing the size and/or the number of gas turbines needed. This gives a good contribution to the overall Life Cycle evaluation in favor of the combined cycle option when compared to the simple cycle option.

Governments and Operators are researching the potential for the development of floating liquefied natural gas (LNG) production facilities as a means to monetize gas reserves and to eliminate flaring of natural gas associated with oil extraction. Floating Production Storage and Offtake (FPSO) vessel hulls may be constructed in either steel or concrete. Concrete hull structures offer a number of advantages for the support of cryogenic facilities and the storage of produced liquids. Additionally, concrete substructures may be constructed in country using a significant proportion of locally procured materials and labor. A concrete FPSO solution has been developed to support a two LNG train facility. The concrete hull may be configured to be much larger than traditional steel FPSO alternatives and need not limit the liquid storage volume or deck area. The proposed solution has sufficient deck area to allow the topside facilities to be configured with some modularization and preassembly using vendor supplied skids. Cryogenic liquid containment requirements have been reviewed for the offshore storage. It is concluded that "double" liquid containment should be adopted rather than the "partial double" containment typical of LNG carrier ships. The adoption of the double containment design criteria has implications for the alternate storage systems, membrane or prismatic self-supporting tanks. It is accepted that the membrane system can be shown to be double containment and is well suited to a concrete FPSO application. The prismatic self-supporting tankage system requires further development, but could also be used. Concrete hull vessels can be shown to be durable and stable. The proposed CFPSO arrangement has a wide beam that ensures superior stability and low motions in extreme environmental conditions. The proposed CFPSO construction could be carried out in country and has been shown to be feasible for several locations. Indicative costs are provided, which are competitive with other alternatives, especially on a life cycle evaluation. The 9MMTPA LNG production CFPSO may be completed within 43 months of EPIC contract signing. Introduction Governments and offshore oil and gas field operators are researching means by which natural gas from associated and stranded gas fields may be monetized. In addition, governments are legislating to limit or prohibit the flaring of gas associated with oil production. The result is an increasing interest in the development of offshore gas liquefaction installations, in particular the development of floating liquefied natural gas (LNG) production facilities. The primary focus of floating LNG proposals has beendirected toward steel hulled floating, production storage and offtake (FPSO) vessels. Steel hulled FPSOs may be procured from established shipyards and fitted out at an offshore fabrication and assembly facility. Established fabrication and assembly facilities are located in East Asia, Northern Europe and North America. Construction of the hull and topside facilities in a shipyard offers a number of benefits including contractor competition at bid stage. However, shipyards generally do not have the dock facilities to construct large concrete substructures. An alternative procurement strategy that incorporates local construction in purpose built graving docks is better suited to both the concrete substructure option and a procurement strategy that seeks to assemble the production facility locally..
