With recent advancements in multimedia technologies, the security of digital data has become a critical issue. To overcome the vulnerabilities of current security protocols, researchers tend to focus their efforts on modifying existing protocols. Over the last few decades, though, several proposed encryption algorithms have been proven insecure, leading to major threats against important data. Using the most appropriate encryption algorithm is a very important means of protection against such attacks, but which algorithm is most appropriate in any particular situation will also be dependent on what sort of data is being secured. However, testing potential cryptosystems one by one to find the best option can take up an important processing time. For a fast and accurate selection of appropriate encryption algorithms, we propose a security level detection approach for image encryption algorithms by incorporating a support vector machine (SVM). In this work, we also create a dataset using standard encryption security parameters, such as entropy, contrast, homogeneity, peak signal to noise ratio, mean square error, energy, and correlation. These parameters are taken as features extracted from different cipher images. Dataset labels are divided into three categories based on their security level: strong, acceptable, and weak. To evaluate the performance of our proposed model, we have performed different analyses (f1-score, recall, precision, and accuracy), and our results demonstrate the effectiveness of this SVM-supported system. This paper presents a new image encryption algorithm, which uses an image sort transformation to shuffle the positions of image pixels, and then the states of hyper-chaos are used to change the grey values of the shuffled image according to the changed distances of each pixel during the process of shuffled. The experimental results demonstrate that the suggested encryption algorithm of image has the advantages of large key space and high security, and moreover, the distribution of grey values of the encryption image has a random-like behavior. Compared with some encryption algorithms, the encryption algorithm is more secure.

An image encryption algorithm based on new generalized fusion fractal structure

Color image encryption has enticed a lot of attention in recent years. Many authors proposed a chaotic system-based encryption algorithms for that purpose. However, due to the shortcomings of the low dimensional chaotic systems, similar rule structure for RGB channels, and the small keyspace, many of those were cryptanalyzed by chosen-plaintext or other well-known attacks. A Security vulnerability exists because of the same method being applied over the RGB channels. This paper aims to introduce a new three-channel three rules (3C3R) image encryption algorithm along with two novel mathematical models for DNA rule generator and bit inversion. A different rule structure was applied in the different RGB-channels. In the R-channel, a novel Block-based Bit Inversion (BBI) is introduced, in the G-channel Von-Neumann (VN) and Rotated Von-Neumann (RVN)- based 2D-cellular structure is applied. In the B-channel, a novel bidirectional State Machine-based DNA rule generator (SM-DNA) is introduced. Simulations and results show that the proposed 3C3R encryption algorithm is robust against all well-known attacks particularly for the known-plaintext attacks, statistical attacks, brute-force attacks, differential attacks, and occlusion attacks, etc. Also, unlike earlier encryption algorithms, the 3C3R has no security vulnerability.

This study introduces a cutting-edge image encryption algorithm aimed at elevating security standards. The Pan-Tompkins Algorithm (PTA) for key generation is proposed for the first time in this study. Additionally, employing steganography through the Least Significant Bit (LSB) method for embedding keys within the encrypted image enhances secure key distribution, thereby fortifying the encryption process. On the other hand, the integration of advanced algorithms, such as Zigzag scanning, the Affine Image Encryption Algorithm (AA), and the Vigenere Image Encryption Algorithm (VA), constitutes the fundamental innovation of the proposed image encryption algorithm. The proposed algorithm is named PanAAVA:Affine Algorithm and Vigenere Algorithm Encryption with PTA-Based Key Generation. The PanAAVA algorithm ensures unparalleled security by encrypting the positions and values of pixels using AA and VA. Notably, using PTA for key generation marks a distinctive and new key generation method feature of the algorithm. To assess the effectiveness of the PanAAVA, a comprehensive comparative analysis is conducted against well-established encryption methodologies, including Lena, Baboon, Airplane, and Pepper.The PanAAVA demonstrates exceptional proficiency in histogram analysis. The PanAAVA demonstrates a Unified Average Changing Intensity (UACI) of 33.4044%. Additionally, the Number of Pixels Change Rate (NPCR) is measured at 99.7442%, showcasing the algorithm’s effectiveness in inducing significant pixel changes. The proposed algorithm’s Mean Square Error (MSE) is calculated at 3.20679E5%. The proposed algorithm’s Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR) is recorded at 9.512475. The Key Space Size of the proposed algorithm is measured at 2209. Regarding correlation analysis, the PanAAVA achieves a high correlation score of 7.9996. The proposed algorithm successfully passes the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) analysis, demonstrating a remarkably strong correlation close to 0 and a Structural Similarity Index Measure (SSIM) of 0.9977. Furthermore, regarding quantum communication, the proposed algorithm maintains stable key rates of 47.5 ± 0.8 kHz during the day and 50.9 ± 0.7 kHz at night. Additionally, PanAAVA achieves low Quantum Bit Error Rate (QBER) values of 4.77 ± 0.02, ensuring reliable and secure communication. The PanAAVA also demonstrates robust asymmetries at 49.81 ± 0.02 and 50.14 ± 0.03 for a crystal length of 20 mm. highlighting PanAAVA’s adaptability and effectiveness in different scenarios. PanAAVA outperforms other encryption algorithms concerning performance measurements and comparisons. In conclusion, the PanAAVA emerges as a beacon of superior security capabilities and innovation in image encryption, showcasing the potential to redefine standards in the field.

A color image encryption algorithm by combining the reality-preserving fractional DCT (RPFrDCT) with chaotic mapping in HSI space is presented, in which the generating sequence (GS) is introduced and produced by 2D chaotic mapping to ensure the uniqueness of the transform matrix and enlarge the cipher key space of the encryption system. In addition, the color image is converted from standard RGB space into HSI space and the nonlinearity of the spatial transform makes the proposed encryption algorithm more secure than linear ones. Three components, namely H, S and I, are encrypted by the RPFrDCT with fractional orders and GS as cipher keys. Three-dimensional (3D) scrambling is adopted to further enhance the security of the encryption algorithm. The nonlinearity of the spatial transform from RGB to HSI, the real-valued output and the high cipher key-sensitivity guarantee the security and the feasibility of the proposed encryption algorithm. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed encryption algorithm is sensitive to cipher keys and, to some extent, robust to noise and occlusion attacks.

A new method of color image encryption is proposed in this paper, with the combination of a two-dimensional (2D) Henon-like chaotic map and compressed sensing for better performance. A sinusoidal function is introduced into the 2D Henon map for increasing randomness. Image encryption algorithm includes three procedures: compression of a color image through the Bernoulli observation matrix, encryption of the compressed image by 2D-Henon map with sinusoidal factor, and reconstruction of color image based on compressed sensing algorithm of orthogonal matching pursuit (OMP). Numerical simulation shows that the proposed encryption algorithm has some advantages including being hardware-friendly, sufficient keyspace, and higher security.

In this paper, synchronization of an inertial neural network with time-varying delays is investigated. Based on the variable transformation method, we transform the second-order differential equations into the first-order differential equations. Then, using suitable Lyapunov-Krasovskii functionals and Jensen's inequality, the synchronization criteria are established in terms of linear matrix inequalities. Moreover, a feedback controller is designed to attain synchronization between the master and slave models, and to ensure that the error model is globally asymptotically stable. Numerical examples and simulations are presented to indicate the effectiveness of the proposed method. Besides that, an image encryption algorithm is proposed based on the piecewise linear chaotic map and the chaotic inertial neural network. The chaotic signals obtained from the inertial neural network are utilized for the encryption process. Statistical analyses are provided to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed encryption algorithm. The results ascertain that the proposed encryption algorithm is efficient and reliable for secure communication applications.

Image encryption algorithm with random scrambling based on one-dimensional logistic self-embedding chaotic map

A quantum realization of the generalized Arnold transform is designed. A novel quantum image encryption algorithm based on generalized Arnold transform and double random-phase encoding is proposed. The pixels are scrambled by the generalized Arnold transform, and the gray-level information of images is encoded by the double random-phase operations. The keys of the encryption algorithm include the independent parameters of coefficients matrix, iterative times and classical binary sequences, and thus, the key space is extremely large. Numerical simulations and theoretical analyses demonstrate that the proposed algorithm with good feasibility and effectiveness has lower computational complexity than its classical counterpart.

This paper is introducing a new image encryption method using hyper chaos based keys, multi step group-based binary gray encryption, bit shifting logic and finally prepares a cipher image, an encrypted image recognizing the plaintext image is very next to impossible. The principal advantage of chaos base encryption is there are sequences of key for multiple times execution of the encryption process. Initially enormous Hyper-chaos numbers are to be generated considering a set of equation and finally generating a decimal key and bit shifting key using these Hyper-chaos numbers. These keys are the entity of the multi step group based binary gray conversion and bit shifting logic performed on every individual pixel of plain image. And lastly a set of comparison studies like histogram analysis, information entropy, correlation coefficient, sensitivity test of the pfoin image with cipher image have been run. The experimental results show the key space analysis and the security in the encryption algorithm It is shown here the encryption scheme deal with the bit-wise operation on the plain image pixel provides high performance on security and reliability, robustness and invisibility.

Chaos-based encryption has emerged as a promising approach for securing digital images, particularly in sensitive domains such as medical imaging. However, existing chaos-based encryption algorithms often suffer from design flaws and the use of weak chaotic maps that exhibit limited chaotic ranges and vulnerability to signal estimation. These limitations result in insufficient key space, reduced resistance to statistical and differential attacks, and inefficiency in real-time applications. To address these challenges, this study introduces a novel 1D Cosine-Exponential (1DCE) map, a hypersensitive chaotic map characterized by enhanced chaotic behavior and robustness. Leveraging the 1DCE map, we propose a real-time image encryption algorithm, termed DCEIES, which incorporates a cross-row-column encryption strategy to significantly improve both encryption speed and security. The DCEIES algorithm also integrates a novel image sensitivity function that detects any alterations in the plain image, rendering the cryptosystem resistant to differential attacks. While the DCEIES algorithm is versatile and applicable to various types of images, its design is particularly optimized for medical imaging, where high pixel correlations and sensitivity to input changes are critical. Extensive simulations and security analyses demonstrate that the DCEIES algorithm outperforms state-of-the-art encryption algorithms in terms of high security and computational efficiency. The results highlight the potential of the DCEIES algorithm for real-time medical image encryption.

Images are important information carriers in our lives, and images should be secure when transmitted and stored. Image encryption algorithms based on chaos theory emerge in endlessly. Based on previous various chaotic image fast encryption algorithms, this paper proposes a color image sector fast encryption algorithm based on one-dimensional composite sinusoidal chaotic mapping. The main purpose of this algorithm is to improve the encryption and decryption speed of color images and improve the efficiency of image encryption in the big data era. First, four basic chaos maps are combined in pairs and added with sine operations. Six one-dimensional composite sinusoidal chaos maps (CSCM) were obtained. Secondly, select the two best chaotic mappings LCS and SCS. The randomness of these two chaotic mappings was verified through Lyapunov index and NIST SP 800-22 randomness tests. Thirdly, the encryption process is carried out according to the shape of a traditional Chinese fan, and the diffusion and scrambling of each pixel of the image are performed in parallel. This greatly improves encryption speed. When diffusing, changing the value of one pixel can affect the values of multiple subsequent pixels. When scrambling, each pixel changes position with the three pixels before it according to the chaotic sequence. Finally, through many experiments, it is proved that the image encryption algorithm not only greatly improves the encryption and decryption speed, but also improves various indexes. The key space reached 2192, the average information entropy was 7.9994, the average NPCR was 99.6172, and the average UACI was 33.4646. The algorithm can also resist some common attacks and accidents, such as exhaustion attack, differential attack, noise attack, information loss and so on.

Recently, diagnosing diseases using medical images became crucial. As these images are transmitted through the network, they need a high level of protection. If the data in these images are liable for unauthorized usage, this may lead to severe problems. There are different methods for securing images. One of the most efficient techniques for securing medical images is encryption. Confusion and diffusion are the two main steps used in encryption algorithms. This paper presents a new encryption algorithm for encrypting both grey and color medical images. A new image splitting technique based on image blocks introduced. Then, the image blocks scrambled using a zigzag pattern, rotation, and random permutation. Then, a chaotic logistic map generates a key to diffuse the scrambled image. The efficiency of our proposed method in encrypting medical images is evaluated using security analysis and time complexity. The security is tested in entropy, histogram differential attacks, correlation coefficient, PSNR, keyspace, and sensitivity. The achieved results show a high-performance security level reached by successful encryption of both grey and color medical images. A comparison with various encryption methods is performed. The proposed encryption algorithm outperformed the recent existing encryption methods in encrypting medical images.
