Research on Computer Network Security and Prevention Strategy

With the rapid development and application of the computer network technology, computer network system has brought many unsafe hidden dangers to the user. The computer network security has got more and more attentions of people. Therefore, this paper analyzes the main problems in computer network security and proposes some effective preventive measures. The author hopes these will help the computer network plays better role for people.

With the rapid development of computer technology and big data technology, the security of computer network has become a key problem that restricts its development. The improved new technology also causes huge network security problems. The continuous development of big data will improve the design level of computer network security system. However, as a media, the computer's requirements for computer network security will also increase. Therefore, it is necessary to continuously strengthen the security of computer network system, improve users' usage and improve the network security status. It is a very effective means to improve the network security through legal restrictions, so it has become the first task. With the continuous improvement of information and data transmission speed, information and data will accumulate in the process of information technology utilization, thus causing security problems. The computer network security technology in the big data environment seriously affects the development of information technology and the development of the whole society.

In this paper, we present an approach for detecting and classifying attacks in computer networks by using neural networks. Specifically, a design of an intruder detection system is presented to protect the hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP). We propose the use of an application-based model using neural networks to model properly non-linear data. The benefit of this perspective is to work directly on the causes of an attack, which are determined directly by the commands used in the protected application. The intruder detection system is designed by defining three different neural networks, which include two multi-layer feed-forward networks and the Elman recurrent network. The results reported in this paper show that the Elman recurrent network achieved a performance around ninety percent of good detection, which demonstrates the reliability of the designed system to detect and classify attacks in high-level network protocols.

In article questions of detection of the distributed attacks in computer networks by means of artificial neural networks are considered. And also approximation of functions in space of quantitative signs is resulted.

Recently, there has been a lot of room for the security elements of computer networks due to the rapid proliferation of information. Hacking and data breaches are two security dangers that have already inserted themselves into the computer network security framework's jigsaw puzzle. One timely security measure for computer networks is data encryption technology. It reduces security threats and safeguards data availability, confidentiality, and integrity. The research development and application status of computer network security techniques based on data encryption technology were summarized in this paper using the literature review method, which involved evaluating and analyzing pertinent research material from different nations. It also looked at the benefits and importance of data encryption technology in network security, as well as its drawbacks and future directions. According to research, the TLS/SSL protocol raised email confidentiality breaches from 318 to 81 and decreased email integrity breaches from 378 to 73. This implies that our data security can be successfully safeguarded by data encryption technology. It offers a wide range of potential applications to enhance network security performance. The intricacy and speed of encryption algorithms, for example, are some of the drawbacks and restrictions of data encryption technology itself that require further research. Therefore, it is highly justified to investigate data encryption technology for application-based research in the future, bolstering it with this context for ever-increasing security

Development and improvement has brought a very great impact to the network technology of the computer, besides the security of the network information has become a focus of the social safety questions.In this paper, through the analysis of security threats to computer network information and protective factors conducted, a strategy for a common computer network information security and protection strategy has been proposed, and useful lessons for our computer network and information security and protection reference have been provided.A series of questions such as security and dependability regarding the computer network system arise, which has been taken into consideration in proposing the strategy.This paper puts forward proposals with respects to the importance of the computer network system, existing problems of the online security of the computer, and precautionary measures.The detailed discussion will help the mass users to become conscious regarding network security and take precautionary measures while using the network.

Destructive and control operations are today a major threat for cyber physical systems. These operations, known as Computer Network Attack (CNA), and usually linked to state-sponsored actors, are much less analyzed than Computer Network Exploitation activities (CNE), those related to intelligence gathering. While in CNE operations the main tactics and techniques are defined and well structured, in CNA there is a lack of such consensuated approaches. This situation hinders the modeling of threat actors, which prevents an accurate definition of control to identify and to neutralize malicious activities. In this paper, we propose the first global approach for CNA operations that can be used to map real-world activities. The proposal significantly reduces the amount of effort need to identify, analyze, and neutralize advanced threat actors targeting cyber physical systems. It follows a logical structure that can be easy to expand and adapt.

Unfortunately, this second edition of Kizza's Computer Network Security and Cyber Ethics is fundamentally flawed due to the introduction of a biased discussion of morality and ethics. The first edition of this text stood out from the crowd of academic titles due to its use of a simple, down-to-earth style that made it easy for the non-technical person to understand many of the complex issues related to computer and network security. One did not need to be an expert to discover what a "Trojan horse" is, what it does to a computer system, and how it can be detected and prevented. This was one of the reasons the first edition was the 2002 Choice "Outstanding Academic Title." Not unexpectedly, in the second edition the author continues to develop the body of knowledge in the text by adding, expanding, and updating information to explain new and emerging problems. Although this title is primarily positioned as an introductory work, the updated information related to technical issues makes the book relevant to the seasoned professional through its exploration of evolving practice in this quickly changing field. Particularly useful are the new and expanded diagrams, figures, and tables that enhance the overall readability of the book. This is particularly evident in the first chapter, entitled "The Changing Landscape of Cyberspace," which is not new but has been significantly revamped with additional facts and statistics from the last several years. Where the book becomes problematic, however, is in the next three chapters added specifically for this second edition. It is in these chapters, titled "Morality," "Ethics," and "Morality, Technology, and Value" that the bulk of the truly new content lies. However, it is in these chapters that the author veers off into troublesome territory. The second chapter is a relatively brief discussion of morality, moral codes, and moral standards. What is bothersome is its exclusively Christian-centric perspective. After reading this chapter, one would be [End Page 249] under the impression that no other faith tradition than Christianity has anything to say about morality. A more neutral and inclusive perspective on morality, drawing on other faith-traditions and perspectives, is expected in a work of this nature. Far more neutral from a theological perspective, the third chapter on ethics gives a fleeting nod to the ancient Greek ethicists with a quote from Socrates, "The unexamined life is not worth living." However, the truly problematic issues in this work are found in the chapter entitled "Morality, Technology, and Value." Starting out with a brief overview of what advocacy is, the author discusses how the "growth of cyberspace has made a fertile ground for advocacy groups." (p. 33) The irony of this statement has its origins a bit earlier in the chapter in the section entitled "Incomplete or Misleading Information," in which the author cautions the reader about the problems of having to make decisions without complete information. Less than three pages later, the author provides us with recommendations on finding useful advocacy groups including three "renowned advocacy groups for moral issues" such as the Family Research Council, Enough is Enough, and the Christian Coalition. (p. 33) All three of these groups view the world from a strict, fundamentalist Christian religious perspective. Although the technical part of this book is well written and is free of religious bias, it is particularly troubling that in a discussion of morality and ethics the author does not reveal his own significant theological biases or provide alternative points of view. The author severely undercuts his credibility and the value of this work. One would expect a text such as this to be neutral, but it is not. Nowadays, the application of the Internet is more and more extensive, but also exposed many problems. Network attacks are gradually penetrating into all kinds of network terminals, and the attack means are more and more sophisticated and covert. Network paralysis, data and user information leakage and other security problems are increasingly prominent. The increasingly dangerous network security situation brings new challenges to the traditional single point and single source security defense system. At the same time, the network crime has caused more and more losses to the personal and property safety of the state, enterprises and citizens. In order to clarify the influence of different factors on computer network security, construct effective solutions, and create a more secure environment for the development and expansion of network information technology, this paper analyzes the factors affecting computer network information security based on genetic algorithm, and proposes a BP neural network algorithm based on genetic algorithm optimization, which is used in network security optimization. The experimental results show that the accuracy of BP neural network algorithm optimized by genetic algorithm is as high as 86.5%. One of the problems in computer network security is Intrusion Detection. To detect it, we need a NIDS (Network Intrusion Detection). One example of NIDS is a honeypot. In this research, we use a kippo honeypot as a tool as an IDS. In this paper, honeypot logs are used for classifying SSH attacks using machine learning. The research used the original dataset from Kippo's log to classify the ssh attack as the primary source. We implement four algorithm classifications: Decision Tree, Naive Bayes, SVM, and Random Forest. Our research found that Decision Tree (DT) and random forest have the same score and better accuracy than naive Bayes and SVM. The accuracy and F1 score of RF and DT are 0.92 and 0.92, respectively.

The detection of computer network attacks is becoming increasingly important as the complexity of cyber-attacks threatening information systems and infrastructure continues to rise. To address these threats, artificial intelligence techniques have become a primary focus in the development of more effective attack detection systems. One algorithm that has proven reliable in this context is the C4.5 decision tree. This study aims to apply the C4.5 algorithm in network attack detection using a dataset that includes various types of attacks and network activities. The process includes data preprocessing, decision tree model building, and model performance evaluation. The results show that the C4.5 decision tree algorithm is effective in classifying network activities into attacks and normal activities with a satisfactory level of accuracy. The model successfully recognizes attack-related patterns, and further analysis identifies key factors influencing attack detection. This research provides a significant contribution to the development of reliable and efficient attack detection systems in computer networks. By applying the C4.5 decision tree algorithm, it is expected to help enhance information security and protect network infrastructure from increasingly complex cyber threats

The development of computer network has accelerated the social information, meanwhile lots of network security issues appeared. Therefore, it seems that much more effort should be made to enhance security and precaution on computer network when conducting network application.
