Abstract

Introduction/Objective: the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic significantly intensified global poverty and economic instability. This study explored the role of scientific diplomacy within the Ecuadorian economy, assessing how governments responded to an unprecedented crisis in the history of macroeconomic reactions to recessive and resource-constrained scenarios. Methodology: the research applied a mathematical framework to link scientific diplomacy with economic dynamics, combining qualitative and quantitative analyses with a comprehensive review of scientific data. This approach examined and interpreted data through the lens of macroeconomic and market factors. Results: the study showed that governments allocated public resources not only to health management but also to foster innovation, infrastructure, and technological advancements. These measures played a pivotal role in mitigating the crisis’s impact. Ecuador reached an economic impact score of 192 out of 300 points, though projections indicated a significant economic contraction in 2024 and the first half of 2025. Conclusion: the findings highlighted the critical importance of scientific diplomacy as a strategic tool for negotiators, diplomats, policymakers, and economic leaders. By leveraging scientific diplomacy, nations designed and negotiated state policies that drove innovation and fostered international cooperation, enhancing economic resilience and growth.
