SCORM-Based Contents Collecting Using Mobile Agent in M-Learning

Nowadays, a lot of e-Learning systems are widely deployed in educational schools. Typical e-Learning systems are implemented as client-server model. In the client-server model, the number of clients affects on the load of the server. In order to reduce the load on the server, we developed a P2P-based distributed e-Learning system. The proposed system consists of a lot of mobile agents which manage study contents and some functions such as scoring, showing questions, and correct answers. When a learner requests content, a mobile agent who has its content comes to the learner's computer, and then he/she can start the study. Here, a mobile agent has to manage multimedia data, which may be a huge size of data. Thus, a mobile agent has to migrates to the learner's node with a huge size of data. Then, the learner cannot start the study until the mobile agent finished to migrate. In order to solve this problem, we divide multimedia data into fragments and prepare mobile agents which manages each fragments. Since each mobile agents become small, a learner can start the study soon without waiting for the migration of a mobile agent which has a huge size of multimedia data. We, however, have to search a mobile agent which manages their fragments. Therefore, a mobile agent which manages n-th fragments informs its location to the agent which manages (n+1)-th fragments, and vice versa. Since each agent knows the location of a mobile agent which manages next and previous fragment, and fragments are cached into learner's node, a learner can play multimedia data smoothly without finding the location of mobile agent which manages holding next fragment. Experiment results show the effectiveness of our method.

With the increase in the number of mobile users, the need for new type of services and applications is also on the rise. Particularly, a growing area of interest is to provide location dependent services to the mobile users. In this paper, we present a system that supports distributed processing of location-dependent continuous queries on distributed mobile data in a mobile environment using mobile agents. We investigate a scenario in which both the querying unit and the object being queried (target object) are capable of movement and the mobile unit is equipped with more powerful capabilities, including the storage of a small database and the capacity of data processing. Since our system deals with continuous queries, we propose a shared incremental update mechanism, which caches the results of the previously evaluated queries and avoids redundant results thereby minimizing the data traffic in wireless environment. To further reduce the data transfer we share the cached data among different queries. Our system uses mobile agents for evaluating queries, which involves data from both the server and mobile unit, and it helps in parallel processing of data and it, can efficiently track the mobile units involved in the system. The conventional query processing method like join processing of data from mobile units and server is directly applied in the mobile environment.

Most current computer applications are insensitive to changing network conditions. With the growing demand for wireless, satellite, and other highly volatile computer communications networks, however, applications that are robust in the presence of network volatility must be designed and built. Network-robust applications are of great interest in military situations today, and we expect that interest to grow in industrial and eventually consumer environments as well. Mobile agents are one way to realize such applications, especially when used in a wireless environment. This article discusses issues and results related to the problem of making computer applications network-aware and reactive to changing network conditions. It contains a short overview of our work on mobile agents as well as a tutorial on network sensing from the agent perspective. Some prototypes of network sensing systems and network aware mobile-agent applications are presented.

Mobile agents are software programs that live in computer networks, performing their computations and moving from host to host as necessary to fulfill their goals. Mobile agents are especially useful in electronic commerce, for both wired and wireless environments. In this research work, both chain relation and TTP(trusted host) has used for protecting data of free roaming mobile agents which is called Trusted host by Knowledge Based System(TKBS). Using Knowledge based system, trusted host list is maintained. In trusted Host agent may not clone. By using chain relation with trusted host, redundancy will be reduced and efficiency will be improved.

A mobile agent offers discrete advantage both in facilitating better transmission as well as controlling the traffic load in Mobile Adhoc Network (MANET). Hence, such forms of network offers maximized dependencies on mobile agents in terms of its trust worthiness. At present, there are various work being carried out towards resisting security breach in MANET; however approaches using mobile agent based mechanism is few to found. Therefore, the proposed system introduces a novel mathematical model where an extensive decision making system has been constructed for identifying the malicious intention of mobile agents in case they go rogues. By adopting multi-tier communication policy and fairness concept, the proposed system offers the capability to resist any form of malicious activity of mobile agent without even presence of any apriori information of adversary. The outcome shows proposed system outshines existing security scheme in MANET.

An analysis of demotivators in the EFL classroom

The explosive growth witnessed by wireless networks is largely due to the flexibility offered to both users and service provider. However, the open wireless medium makes traditional link-layer attacks readily available to anyone within the range of the network. Confidentiality, integrity and authentication pose several challenges to wireless network security implementations. The IEEE 802.11i security framework has some flaws, making the traditional cryptographic mechanism provide weak security for the wireless environment. In this paper we explore the feasibility of mobile agents to provide secured access control for next generation wireless infrastructure networks.

In a peer to peer grid computing system, volunteers (i.e., resource provides) with heterogeneous properties can freely join and leave in the middle of their computation. Thus, the system should be adaptive to a dynamic changing environment. In particular, scheduling, result certification, and replication mechanisms must be dynamic and adaptive in such a system. In this paper, we propose a new peer to peer grid computing system based on mobile agents. The proposed system constructs volunteer groups according to volunteers’ dynamic properties such as service time, availability, and credibility. For each volunteer groups, different scheduling, result certification, replication mechanisms are used. Due to the advancement in the Information Technology, different kind of companies with heterogeneous needs have had the necessity to cooperate among them to get more benefit in a continuous changing market. That is heterogeneous e-business. In order to cope with such kind of e-business, a platform which can effectively realize heterogeneous needs, real time, flexibility and fault-tolerance is needed. This paper focuses on the database field that is indispensable for the e-business. Thus, it proposes Autonomous Decentralized Database System, which is composed of two techniques. In the first one, the concept of Allowable Volume (AV) is introduced, while in the second one, a Mobile Agent (MA) that adjusts the AV of each site is shown. Since the MA is always moving among the sites, and each site can always negotiate AV with the MA autonomously, the system can realize assurance. Furthermore, the effectiveness of the proposed system is shown by simulation.

A multi-Mobile Agent and optimal itinerary planning-based data aggregation in Wireless Sensor Networks

To ensure the success of the Asean Economic Community, ASEAN countries must adopt English as the common language of business and social life. In fact, many ASEAN countries have adopted English as a second language. As a collection of plans and instructions on objectives, content and learning materials, and methods used as guidelines for conducting learning activities, curriculum is established to achieve a nation`s educational goals. This study examines the comparison of curricula for the introduction of English in ASEAN countries. The research method was a systematic review. The survey revealed that the four ASEAN countries, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and the Philippines, have different implementations of the English curriculum. Comparisons include English learning objectives, materials and content, strategies, and assessments.

Automatic service discovery will play an essential role in future network scenario and is an important component for MANET and collaboration in ubiquitous computing environment. This paper proposes a service discovery architecture, named as SLPA (Service Location Protocol based on AMAAM) in the mobility-supported wired and wireless environment of which the underlying protocol is AMAAM which is an aggregation-based Mobile IP implementation in MANET. In SLPA, the role of the directory agent is assigned to the mobility agent in AMAAM. The mobility agent periodically beacons an advertisement message which contains both the advertisement of the directory agent in SLP and the advertisement of the mobility agent in Mobile IP. For evaluating the functional correctness of SLPA and the overhead of maintaining a service directory in MANET, we simulate SLPA and analyze the overhead of control overheads for the aggregation. The extent of the AIDS crisis is becoming clear in many African countries, as increasing numbers of people with HIV are becoming ill. The technology of mobile phones has brought ubiquitous access to information coupled with software agents and health care delivery systems in hospitals. It enables patient-physician contact to be more frequent. Such an environment can provide personalized monitoring services to patients and decision support to physicians, as well as maintenance for cost control. This paper proposes the deployment of 3G wireless technology with mobile agents for health care delivery to HIV/AIDS patients. Patient, nurse and physician are the agents in the proposed system. Each agent uses a mobile phone to communicate with the server anywhere at any time without restrictions. The system employs the mobility, flexibility and autonomous characteristics of mobile agents to monitor patients. The system has the ability to provide fast and reliable assistance to the patients.

In this paper, we propose an evacuation support system that provides evacuation routes in case of disasters, and verify the usefulness of the system. Current popular wireless communication infrastructure is supported by a series of base stations and one base station handles a lot of communication. Therefore, when communication base stations break down due to disasters such as an earthquake, it may become difficult for people to use their smartphones based on the Internet. When the communication infrastructure is paralyzed, people will have great difficulty collecting information about the conditions of transportation systems and about the safety of family and friends using smartphones. Our proposed system addresses this problem by using multiple kinds of mobile agents in addition to static agents on smartphones that use a mobile ad hoc network (MANET). The proposed system collects information with mobile agents and diffuses information via mobile agents so that the system is able to provide an optimized evacuation route for each user in a dynamically changing disaster environment. In this paper, we extend our previously proposed evacuation support system to consider elevation information when constructing evacuation routes. When a tsunami or a flood tide occurs, low elevations may be under water. Therefore, this revised evacuation support system helps people to move to safer places by selecting higher elevation routes when warranted by the situation.

In this paper, we propose an extension of an evacuation support system that we have previously proposed (Taga, 2018). The system suggests evacuation routes in cases of disasters. We have confirmed the usefulness of the system. When a disaster occurs, we anticipate that the current popular wireless communication based on the Internet may not be very reliable. In order to accommodate such a problem, our proposed system employs multiple mobile agents and static agents on smartphones that use a mobile ad hoc network (MANET). The proposed system collects information by mobile agents as well as diffuses information by mobile agents so that the system provides an optimal evacuation route for each user in a dynamically changing disaster environment. In simulations, our system successfully guides evacuation users to safe areas. The system, however, does not consider the altitude of the evacuation routes. Therefore, the system may not be very useful in cases of flood. When a tsunami or a flood tide occurs, low altitude location may be under water. Therefore, evacuees need to move along high altitude routes. In this paper, we also take account of the altitude information for constructing evacuation routes.
