Should we still be doing ICT4D research?

The purpose of this study was to design and fit an e-commerce implementation model in knowledge-based companies active in the field of information and communication technology in Tehran province. In this research, the research policy of data foundation theory was used. The statistical population of the qualitative section consists of experts familiar with the subject of research (university professors and experts in the field of study). In order to determine the sample size, a purposeful method was used and until the new concepts were not enumerated, the interview process continued until the 15th person. The statistical population of a small part is all employees of knowledge-based companies active in the field of information and communication technology in Tehran that according to surveys, approximately 21,000 people work in these companies which 378 people were selected as the sample size by racemose or random classification and Morgan table. In this research, two questionnaires have been used to collect the data needed to measure the studied variables. Experts' opinions were used to evaluate the validity of the questionnaire and Cronbach's alpha reliability of 0.87 was obtained. To analyze the data, the grounded theory approach and structural equations have been used and the software is PLS. Findings showed that 81 sub-components constitute the dimensions of the model and the results of model fit also showed that the research model is valid for implementation and according to the analysis, it was found that at the 95% confidence level, all paths are significant, and as a result, the six main dimensions and subcomponents related to the model are approved.

The study of different media, the study of their nature and features in the digital era is of great importance for understanding the trends in the functioning of the media and forecasting future de-velopment. Determining the benefits and negative consequences of information technology for society and people, identifying the causes of media processes occurring in today’s world are becoming impor-tant issues on the agenda. The purpose of this article is to identify ways to solve the key problems of the domestic media space by analyzing the scientific concepts and basic principles of transmedia. In this study, we report the results of a content analysis of 948 papers from selected peer reviewed journals and conferences published between 2000 and 2010 in the academic literature on the interdisciplinary field of Information and Communication Technologies for Development (ICTD or ICT4D). Results indicate that the majority of the literature focuses on business and empowerment as the primary domains of ICTD work, and on ICT in general and on information systems as the most common technology objects of analysis, with a growing trend toward mobile phones. Furthermore, most of the literature consists of studies of individual countries or of organizations, and the most frequent contributions are field studies and best practices, with a growing trend towards contributing theory and policy recommendations. This is the first-ever comprehensive analysis of the ICTD literature across multiple sources over ten years; it offers important insights about the trends and directions of research in the ICTD field. Further analysis will explore additional dimensions, such as the goals of development, the relationship between ICT and society, and the epistemological stances in the research, in order to offer a better understanding of the changes over time and the differences across the different journals and conferences studied.

Some Aspects of the Appointment of Computer Expertise and Investigation of Criminal Cases

The field of Information and Communication Technology for Development (ICT4D) has grown rapidly in the last two decades, spurred in part by the imperative to alleviate poverty and dispel inequities around the globe. The proliferation of technologies since the 2000s has accelerated scholarship and established mature research streams within the ICT4D domain. The objective of this research is to unravel themes that are latent in the enormous corpus of articles published during this time period. Specifically, we use text mining to elucidate the intellectual structure of ICT4D research published from 2000 to 2020. Our research clarifies what has been accomplished so far and what opportunities lie ahead. In addition to extracting dominant topics using a topic modeling algorithm called Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA), our study synthesizes the findings to provide a concise representation of the various categories of research undertaken by ICT4D scholars. The study also articulates future areas of research that can extend the frontiers of knowledge pertinent to ICT4D and expedite our endeavors to overcome global challenges such as poverty, illiteracy, gender inequity, and other maladies that afflict underdeveloped and developing nations. Finally, this study makes a methodological contribution by illustrating the use of computational literature review in ICT4D.

This article addresses 824 Finnish vocational upper secondary level students’ self-assessments related to their basic ICT skills and their views regarding the importance of ICT skills for their future career. A questionnaire was distributed to students representing seven vocational fields who were starting their studies leading to a vocational upper secondary qualification. The results show that in many claims students in the field of Information and Communication Technologies assess their skills as significantly higher than other students, while students focusing on Health and Welfare rated their personal skills as significantly lower. The results also show that students in the field of Information and Communication Technologies and Humanities and Arts clearly believe that they will need IT skills in their future careers. Compared to others, students in Technology and Service Industries were significantly less likely to think so. This study contributes to research concerning vocational students’ ICT competence and will help in developing online courses requiring knowledge of the differences in the need for guidance experienced by students from different vocational fields.

The lack of accurate information about land and land ownership is a major challenge for developing countries. Despite the important role of information systems (IS) in overcoming such weaknesses, the research area of land information systems has been scattered within IS, as well as within the area of information and communication technologies for development (ICT4D). Based on a literature review research contributions are synthesized into four main perspectives, namely Development, eGovernment, Geographical information systems (GIS) and Land law, policy, and administration. These perspectives form the basis for the suggested conceptualization of the land information systems for development (LIS4D) field, including issues related to technical, organizational, legal, and social factors and their developmental impact. Based on the findings future research avenues are identifies in the context of LIS4D that relate to contextual issues, implementation processes, the role of actors, and research perspectives.

In an era of ever fast connected digital communication technologies, network has become the buzzword of our work and daily lives. However, while the concept network has been employed by information and communication technologies for development's (ICT4D) authors the last few years, it has not yet received solid attention. In most cases, ICT4D's authors have merely referred to network, leaving its definition and related conceptual issues at the discretion of the reader. To make things worse, ICT4D has been exposing its readers to theories of various strides and disciplines, such as development studies, management science, information systems, Actor Network Theory, computer network, social networks, etc., but ICT4D's readers remain largely uninformed and misled about network theories/approaches. This paper seeks to fill the gap by heeding the continued calls for ICT4D's stronger theoretical grounding. The paper sketches networks in the social sciences, in general, and derives the consequences for ICT4D's research, in particular. To this end, ICT4D's articles have been analyzed to trace ICT4D's involvement with networks. The paper provides the groundwork from which to produce contributive works on networks in ICT4D. The goal is to instill a more informed engagement of ICT4D with networks.

Despite growing demand, the information technology (IT) field suffers from a labor shortage compounded by the underrepresentation of women in the IT field. This study examined predictors of occupational and organizational commitment outcomes among IT professionals and explored gender differences and similarities in the relative importance of predictors. 1,229 IT professionals provided web-based survey data, which were analyzed using hierarchical linear modeling and relative weight analysis. Satisfaction with growth opportunities, job security, job stress, and work–family culture generally were related to commitment outcomes as expected, accounting for the greatest variance in organizational commitment. Relative weights for men and women differed in the prediction of occupational commitment, where growth satisfaction and work–family culture were weighted more strongly by women and job stress was more strongly weighted by men. For organizational commitment, the relative weights among predictors were similar for men and women, except that men weighted job security more strongly than women. Findings suggest that garnering commitment to the IT field requires a gender-specific approach, highlighting growth and work–family support for women and addressing job stress for men. Increasing organizational commitment for both men and women calls for an emphasis on opportunities for growth and development. This is the first study to simultaneously examine predictors for organizational and occupational commitment among IT professionals and to assess the relative importance of predictors discussed in the extant literature. Results inform efforts to increase retention in the IT field and provide guidance for improving the representation of women in IT.

In order to bring in the latest progress in theory, technology and application in the fields of electrical engineering and information technology at home and abroad in recent years, and show the latest research achievements, 2024 3rd International Conference on Electrical, Control and Information Technology (ECITech 2024) was held from January 19th to 21st, 2024 in Xiamen, China via virtual form. It was attended by about 120 participants from different countries and regions. At this conference we had a comprehensive overview of this fascinating field and of future scenarios thanks to the participation of distinguished delegates around the globe, including Prof. Hamid Reza Karimi (Politecnico di Milano, Italy), Prof. Mouquan Shen (Nanjing Tech University, China), Assoc. Prof. Jamaludin Jalani (Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia, Malaysia), and Assoc. Prof. Wenfeng Hu (Central South University, China). The experts performed wonderful keynote speeches, and the participants raised questions based on the speeches and interacted with the speakers and people around, leading to a heated discussion on the latest research findings and trends in related fields. As one of the important outcomes of ECITech 2024, this proceedings contains excellent academic contributions from all over the world, demonstrating the latest research results and innovative ideas in this field. These papers not only cover theoretical explorations of electrical, control and information technology, but also numerous practical application cases, which provide us with valuable experiences and insights. In this collection of papers, the authors, with profound academic background and keen insight, have discussed the hot issues in the field of electrical, control and information technology in depth. The development of Information and Communication Technology penetrated to various aspects, not only in the field of business oriented, but also in the areas of government and education. Similar to other fields, in the field of education, Information and Communication Technology is one of the main needs for quality education. This study is an analytical survey to measure the level of satisfaction of SIMAK or web-based online application. Methods of data collection by spreading questionnaires to respondents or students as users of academic services at Majalengka University. The research models and instruments are based on the Customer Information Satisfaction (CIS) model, where after selection and testing the five dimensions of measurement are customer service, security, ease of use, information content, and innovation. Furthermore, based on these 5 dimensions composed an instrument or attribute measurement consisting of 15 questions.
