Simulated Annealing Genetic Algorithm for Surface Intersection

Unit testing has a significant role in software development and its impacts depend on the quality of test cases and test data used. To reduce time and effort, unit test generator systems can help automatically generate test cases and test data. However, there is currently no unit test generator for Kotlin programming language even though this language is popularly used for android application developments. In this study, we propose and develop a test generator system that utilizes genetic algorithm (GA) and ANTLR4 parser. GA is used to obtain the most optimal test cases and data for a given Kotlin code. ANTLR4 parser is used to optimize the mutation process in GA so that the mutation process is not totally random. Our model results showed that the average value of code coverage in generated unit tests against instruction coverage is 95.64%, with branch coverage of 76.19% and line coverage of 96.87%. In addition, only two out of eight generated classes produced duplicate test cases with a maximum of one duplication in each class. Therefore, it can be concluded that our optimization with GA on the unit test generator is able to produce unit tests with high code coverage and low duplication.

Aiming at the disadvantage of premature convergence of basic genetic algorithm, an adaptive simulated annealing genetic tabu search algorithm is proposed. This algorithm fully combines the global convergence and adaptability of simulated annealing algorithm and the strong climbing ability and high efficiency of tabu search strategy. It has strong convergence and adaptability. The simulation results of the adaptive simulated annealing genetic tabu search algorithm are given and compared with the basic genetic algorithm and simulated annealing algorithm. The simulation results show that the algorithm has better convergence and optimization performance, and can better solve the combinatorial optimization problem.

The key parameters for Simulated Annealing Algorithm (SAA) and Genetic Algorithm (GA) were determined by test experiments. With optimal parameters obtained for both algorithms, the multilayer antireflection coatings in the 7.7-12.3μm band and a neutral beam splitter in the visible region were designed. Results showed that, for infrared multilayer antireflection coatings, the evaluation function value of SAA was 18.7% lower than that of GA, and the average transmittance of SAA was 0.4% higher than that of GA. Compared to GA, SAA achieved a higher average transmittance and a more flat transmittance curve. And for the neutral beam splitter, the running time of GA was 0.407s less than that of SAA, whereas the convergence effect of SAA was superior to that of GA. Therefore, the design with SAA has certain advantages for both the infrared multilayer antireflection coating and the beam splitter.

This paper presents a new stochastic approach SAGACIA based on proper integration of simulated annealing algorithm (SAA), genetic algorithm (GA), and chemotaxis algorithm (CA) for solving complex optimization problems. SAGACIA combines the advantages of SAA, GA, and CA together. It has the following features: (1) it is not the simple mix of SAA, GA, and CA; (2) it works from a population; (3) it can be easily used to solve optimization problems either with continuous variables or with discrete variables, and it does not need coding and decoding,; and (4) it can easily escape from local minima and converge quickly. Good solutions can be obtained in a very short time. The search process of SAGACIA can be explained with Markov chains. In this paper, it is proved that SAGACIA has the property of global asymptotical convergence. SAGACIA has been applied to solve such problems as scheduling, the training of artificial neural networks, and the optimizing of complex functions. In all the test cases, the performance of SAGACIA is better than that of SAA, GA, and CA.

In this paper, we investigate virtual machine (VM) scheduling problem for the downlink joint transmission (JT) of coordinated multi-point (CoMP) systems in centralized radio access networks (C-RAN). The inter-dependent computing tasks of users are centralized and scheduled on heterogeneous VMs to be executed. In order to achieve efficient scheduling, a priority based VM scheduling model is designed. Then, a delay-constrained and resource-constrained optimization problem to minimize the maximum completion time among users is formulated. Three scheduling algorithms including genetic algorithm (GA), genetic simulated annealing algorithm (GSAA) and packing algorithm (PA) are developed to solve the problem. Simulation results show that GSAA outperforms GA and PA in guaranteeing joint synchronization of all cooperating entities and fairness of users.

This paper proposed and implemented an genetic and weed invasion hybrid algorithm in Sparse Array Synthesis. The classical weed invasion algorithm has high requirements on the convergence parameters in the process of generating weeds from seeds. Inappropriate parameters can easily lead to local convergence of evolution. The mutation and crossover operations similar to the genetic algorithm were introduced into the classical weed invasion algorithm. The method improves convergence speed, avoids local convergence, and enhances the stability of the algorithm. The algorithm is used in practical application in the synthesis of linear sparsely distributed array pattern, and the predetermined index is obtained through calculation. At the same time, compared with the genetic algorithm and the classical weed invasion algorithm, the results show that the hybrid algorithm has certain advantages.

Optimal arrangement of turbines in wind farms is very important to achieve maximum energy at the lowest cost. In the present study, the use of Vestas V-47 wind turbine and uniform one-way wind in achieving the optimal arrangement of horizontal axis turbines in Manjil with genetic and Monte Carlo algorithms has been investigated. Jensen model is used to simulate the wake effect on the downstream turbines. The objective function is considered as the ratio of cost to power of the power plant. The results show that the Monte Carlo method compared with genetic algorithm will give a better result. Under the same conditions, the Monte Carlo algorithm will give 29% and 40% better results in terms of the number of turbines and output power, respectively. In terms of optimization, in the Monte Carlo algorithm, its fitness value is 16% less than the genetic algorithm, which indicates its better optimization.

This paper forms the annealing genetic hybrid algorithm, which is about the genetic algorithm and simulated annealing algorithm improved and integrated. For the problem about feature selection of nonlinear analog circuit fault diagnosis based on Volterra kernel, using annealing genetic hybrid algorithm to research, put forward annealing genetic intelligent selection method of circuit fault diagnosis feature. Experiments show that this method has realized effective selection of analog circuit diagnostic features and improved the prediction accuracy of fault diagnosis system based on BP neural network.

The traditional single intelligent algorithm has slow convergence speed in the frequency assignment, and the effect cannot meet the increasing frequency equipment in the naval battlefield. Based on the single intelligent frequency assignment algorithm and the frequency conflict analysis model between systems, this paper proposes three heuristic frequency assignment algorithms based on hybrid genetic algorithms, namely, Genetic Algorithm and Tabu Search (GATS), Hybrid Genetic Simulated Annealing Algorithm (HGSAA) and Genetic Algorithm-ant Colony Algorithm (GAA). The simulation results show that the hybrid algorithm can quickly converge to a better allocation result than the single intelligent algorithm in the frequency assignment problem, and the optimal value is better than the single intelligent algorithm. Among them, the convergence speed and optimal value of the GAA are the best of the three algorithms. Therefore, this algorithm can be applied to frequency assignment with more frequency-using equipment within a fixed range.

Automatic test data generation from a software specification prepares test cases for software developers before their code development phase. Having test cases before coding, helps the developers to control their code to conform to the specification. In state-based specifications, paths from the initial state to the final state may be varied, this is called parallel paths. In order to generate test data which cover all behaviors in the specification, test data for each parallel path should be generated. This paper proposes an enhanced genetic algorithm(GA)-based approach to resolve the parallel paths from the UML state machine diagram. The proposed approach is improved from our previous study which uses a GA based test data generation method for only one path. The approach identifies parallel paths to cover all transitions. GA evolves a number of suitable test data sets - one test data set for each parallel path. The best test data for each parallel path are picked and used for calculating the overall coverage test data. The experimental results show improved coverage results with the enhanced approach for a number of case studies with parallel paths.

According to the traditional UMDH network modeling with the least square method to recognize parameters ,it's easy to fall into local minimum ,and with the result that the prediction effect is not ideal. This paper puts forward to combine the simulated annealing algorithm and genetic algorithm, and introduces the combined algorithm to the UMDH network which is used to identify some of its description type coefficient. In this paper ,it describes the simulated annealing genetic algorithm ,and constructs the UMDH network model based on this algorithm, and the model is applied to the simulation of debris flow prediction research ,forecast average relative error reached 3. 54%. The results show that the algorithm not only ensuring the global optimization but also preventing premature convergence, improve the UMDH network model of global and local searching optimal ability further.

Genetic Algorithm (GA) is a biologically inspired technique and widely used to solve numerous combinational optimization problems. It works on a population of individuals, not just one single solution. As a result, it avoids converging to the local optimum. However, it takes too much CPU time in the late process of GA. On the other hand, in the late process Simulated Annealing (SA) converges faster than GA but it is easily trapped to local optimum. In this letter, a useful method that unifies GA and SA is introduced, which utilizes the advantage of the global search ability of GA and fast convergence of SA. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms GA in terms of CPU time without degradation of performance. It also achieves highly comparable placement cost compared to the state-of-the-art results obtained by Versatile Place and Route (VPR) Tool.

Software testing refers to a process that improves the quality of software systems through bug detection, but software testing is one of the time and cost-consuming stages in software development. Hence, software test automation is regarded as a solution, which can facilitate heavy and laborious tasks of testing. Problem: Automatic generation of data with maximum coverage of program branches is regarded as an NP-complete optimization problem. Several heuristic algorithms have been proposed for this problem. Failure to maximise branch coverage, the poor success rate in optimal test data generation, and low stable results are the major demerits of the previous methods. Goal: Enhancing the branch coverage rate of the generated test data, enhancing the success rate in generating the test data with maximum coverage, and enhancing the stability and speed criteria are the main goals of this study. Method: In this study, a combination of grey wolf optimization algorithm and genetic algorithm have been used to automatically generate optimal test data. The proposed hybrid method (Fuzuli <sup xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">1</sup> ) tries to generate test data with maximum branch coverage at the software source code level. Results: The results obtained from the proposed algorithm were compared with those of the following algorithms: Shuffled Frog Leaping Algorithm (SFLA), Artificial Bee Colony (ABC), Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), and Genetic Algorithm (GA).The results obtained from running a wide range of tests on standard benchmark programs showed that the proposed algorithm outperforms other algorithms with an average coverage of %99.98, a success rate of %99.97, and an average output of 2.86.

In the structural software test, test data generation is essential. The problem of generating test data is a search problem, and for solving the problem, search algorithms can be used. Genetic algorithm is one of the most widely used algorithms in this field. Adjusting genetic algorithm parameters helps to increase the effectiveness of this algorithm. In this paper, the Adaptive Genetic Algorithm (AGA) is used to maintain the diversity of the population to test data generation based on path coverage criterion, which calculates the rate of recombination and mutation with the similarity between chromosomes and the amount of chromosome fitness during and around each algorithm. Experiments have shown that this method is faster for generating test data than other versions of the genetic algorithm used by others.

Protein engineering stands at the forefront of biotechnology, aiming to modify natural proteins or create new ones tailored to specific functional requirements. The three-dimensional structures of proteins, particularly their folding patterns, are critical in defining their biological roles. Accurate prediction and detailed examination of these protein folding structures are crucial in protein engineering. The close relationship between protein structure and function highlights the importance of understanding protein folding dynamics to successfully manipulate protein designs for intended uses. Genetic algorithms (GA), taking inspiration from natural evolutionary principles, employ a heuristic search approach that integrates elements of randomness. In contrast, simulated annealing (SA) leverages stochastic optimization techniques based on the Monte Carlo method, theoretically capable of approximating the global optimum with a high degree of accuracy. Additionally, generalized ensemble methods are increasingly used to explore protein folding processes. This paper explores the fundamental principles and practical applications of these algorithms in simulating protein folding dynamics, aiming to enhance the methodologies used in protein engineering. This exploration not only aids in the refinement of protein design but also extends the potential applications of engineered proteins in various scientific and industrial fields.
