Navigating Social Media in #Ophthalmology
for many users nowadays social media plays a big role in their world, as it helps to connect with new people while keeping the old bonds intact. The drawback is that we can’t able to see that, the data is being generated every minute of a second and that data is kept secure in the hands of a few tech giants, who are using it and selling it as they see fit and using it in a manner as they see profitable and with this paper I’d like to propose that shifting social media from host-centric to the information-centric network on the blockchain would not only be safer yet convenient and secured. In peer-to-peer system, cryptocurrency is used to pay for and secure content acquisition. The blockchain lets individuals acquire ownership over their Data, Property and Assets. In social networking, a decentralised approach to blockchain technology protects privacy and allows for e-commerce, ledger based crowd funding, smart apps, and smart contracts. Platforms like Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter, Reddit, and other digital social network media platforms offer free for all access, which is convenient in the name of connecting and socialising but they are collecting are data and using it to sell it to other third party buyers for the price of our privacySome of the most important difficulties confronting social media network business period, profit is focused on advertising and analytics. False propaganda based information on (Facebook), rampant bullying and harassment (Twitter), single party controlled censorship, and demonetization are some of the most serious issues facing social networking (YouTube).

As a result of the ease with which the internet and cell phones can be accessed, online social networks (OSN) and social media have seen a significant increase in popularity in recent years. Security and privacy, on the other hand, are the key concerns in online social networks and other social media platforms. On the other hand, cyberbullying (CB) is a serious problem that needs to be addressed on social media platforms. Known as cyberbullying (CB), it is defined as a repetitive, purposeful, and aggressive reaction performed by individuals through the use of information and communication technology (ICT) platforms such as social media platforms, the internet, and cell phones. It is made up of hate messages that are sent by e-mail, chat rooms, and social media platforms, which are accessed through computers and mobile phones. The detection and categorization of CB using deep learning (DL) models in social networks are, therefore, crucial in order to combat this trend. Feature subset selection with deep learning-based CB detection and categorization (FSSDL-CBDC) is a novel approach for social networks that combines deep learning with feature subset selection. The suggested FSSDL-CBDC technique consists of a number of phases, including preprocessing, feature selection, and classification, among others. Additionally, a binary coyote optimization (BCO)-based feature subset selection (BCO-FSS) technique is employed to select a subset of features that will increase classification performance by using the BCO algorithm. Additionally, the salp swarm algorithm (SSA) is used in conjunction with a deep belief network (DBN), which is known to as the SSA-DBN model, to detect and characterize cyberbullying in social media networks and other online environments. The development of the BCO-FSS and SSA-DBN models for the detection and classification of cyberbullying highlights the originality of the research. A large number of simulations were carried out to illustrate the superior classification performance of the proposed FSSDL-CBDC technique. The SSA-DBN model has exhibited superior accuracy to the other algorithms, with a 99.983 % accuracy rate. Overall, the experimental results revealed that the FSSDL-CBDC technique beats the other strategies in a number of different aspects.

Tourism is growing very rapidly with the development of technology, especially information technology .Through information technology people can easily get access to information about various destinations and tourist attractions as well as hotel by online media communication. Therefore, this study was trying to use social media such as facebook and twitter, where both social media were widely used by companies engaged in tourism in the world as well as in Bali. Internet consists of several websites, but the most effective one to conduct the research on tourism such as webseries 2.0 or commonly called as social networking media. Social medias - Facebook and Twitter - both were wildly used by the companies running in the sector of tourism in Bali, such as Hotels, Villas, Restaurants, Spas, Travel Agents, Airlines, and Tourist Attraction Managements, to advertised their products and services in their respective field. Through those social media, tourists will be able to access the comments or reviews about the companies. The problem raised in this research is how Bali’s tourism data in social networking media were used and considered, and how was the image of Bali’s tourism in their point of viewbased on the research. The method used here was descriptive qualitative method which describes this phenomenon descriptively by analyzing the obtained comments on social networking media such as facebook and twitter, and then classified in the form of comments positive, negative, and unidentified comment. Afterwards comments were re-analyzed through 4A Approach which consist of Attraction, amenities, Ancillary, and Accessibility. Data which has been obtained re-analyzed via the data obtained from the homepage of (TripAdvisor and Agoda.com). In addition, to strengthen the research data obtained from the homepage of TripAdvisor and Agoda.com , then it has been elaborated on the point rating system which indicatedthat the company were registered in both of those social networking media such as Hotel, Villa, SPA, restaurants, travel agents, airlines, media, tourist attraction management has a good rating result, and it has represented that the image of Bali tourism has a good rank in the eyes of local and international tourists. This data was also strengthened by the existence of empirical studies where there were the data from a hundred tourists came to Bali both locally and internationally has filled out the questionnaire about Bali in order to obtain maximum results on the image of Bali tourism. The results showed that, social networking media were effectively used in this study. Many companies in Bali used facebook and twitter. In addition, Bali Tourism image placed in positive rank on both of social networking sites, and it was gained by the results of questionnaires spread towards the visitor.

Social Networking Media in Higher Education: A Review
Social media has become a constant presence in the daily lives of young people. As a result, many educational procedures and processes have been influenced by the widespread use of social networks. The number of people using social media has continuously increased. Students’ perceptions on how social media affects their learning is a prominent subject of research. Students’ school achievement has been significantly impacted by their interaction with professors, peers, and online knowledge-sharing behaviors. Several aspects are involved in this review, which aims to shed light on how students use social media in higher education. Findings reveal that the usage of online social media for cooperative learning encourages students to be innovative, dynamic, and research oriented. In other words, it is a matter of academic competence. This study gathered and analyzed social media data in higher education for computing disciplines. Digital libraries from EBSCO, IEEE, and ACM were utilized for data gathering. All of the above traits were found to be positively influenced by social networks, which suggest that their usage in higher education should be broadened. Teachers and educational institutions have not taken full use of internet social networks. Keywords: social media; social networks; higher institutions education

This research is an anterior project of a pilot study for identifying factors that determine the adoption and usage of digital social network platform services by the elderly population in Taiwan. The aim of this whole design project is to use the methods of ethnography and contextual participatory research to understand the problem space, and then develop a conversational and entertainment social media for elderly people to empower their life. The elderly are often a neglected group in regard to product development and marketing; however, they are the only growing age group in most developed societies. Regarding the report from CEPD, by the year 2016, Taiwan will become an aging society, and it is expected that the aging population will have grown to 35.9% in 2050. Due to the responsibility or a digital media designer/educator, to highly consider the tendencies of an aging society, and ensure a smooth social, entertaining and meaningful lire beyond the physiological, geographic and mobility restrictions, it is essential that a conversational and entertainment context for social relationships are available for them so that they may maintain their vigor. The older people get, the more difficult their adoption of technology is likely to be; they are traditionally considered as being resistant to change. Anxiety reaction appears when new technology product designs fail to target the special requirements of aging people. This research adopted the perspectives of anthropological methodology, and closely examined the target users' behaviors and expectations. In an effort to address the issue of offering the elderly asocial and casual life, this research focused on the problem and solution search, analyzed explicit and implicit problems, both physical and emotional, and integrated them into a better understanding of current problems and needs. After identifying a set of essential issues related to social activities, entertainment, the usage and adoption of a new digital device and digital social media, this research indicated the direction for bridging the gaps between aging people and a digital social media life: the construction of a helpful framework for an ideal conversational and entertainment model of a social media platform.
Read moreThe power of social networks and social media’s filter bubble in shaping polarisation: an agent-based model
The role social media platforms play on the emergence of polarisation is an ongoing debate in the political communication literature. Social media’s filter bubbles and online echo chambers shape people’s opinions by curating the information they have available. However, the extent to which this is the case remains unclear. Social simulation scholars have provided valuable insights into the subject through opinion dynamics models and agent-based modelling approaches. This article proposes a social simulation approach to the topic of opinion dynamics from a political communication perspective to understand how social network configurations and the media environment contribute to the emergence of national identity polarisation. We built an agent-based simulation model of national identity dynamics with a multilayer multiplex network of interacting agents in a hybrid media environment of both, traditional media and social media platforms. We use the Catalan secessionist movement to ground, contextualise and empirically inform parts of our model. We found that the initial social network setup conditions had a large impact on the emergence of polarisation amongst agents. In particular, homophily-based social networks composed of a majority of like-minded individuals produced greater polarisation compared to random networks. This was aggravated in the presence of social media filtering algorithms, selectively exposing agents to supportive information. These results emphasise the importance of both the selective exposure by social media filtering algorithms and one’s social networks (echo chambers) for polarisation to emerge. This interaction reinforces the influence of social media platforms and social networks have on the emergence of polarisation.

Sports organisations’ recently acquired ability to deliver their own news—through social and digital platforms—represents a potential paradigm shift in the once symbiotic relationship between sports organisations and the media that cover them. While sports organisations once needed the media to deliver their messages, they now have their own media. This study examined the impact of sports digital and social platforms, such as websites, Twitter and Facebook, on sports journalism through 37 interviews with public relations staff in Australian sports organisations and one targeted case study in a professional Australian Rules Football club competing in the Australian Football League (AFL) in Australia. It found that while public relations staff in Australian sports organisations still value traditional media coverage, they also signalled that their own platforms were increasing in value as distribution channels. The case study of the professional AFL club found that the club selectively chose to distribute some stories on their own platforms instead of through traditional media. These stories were not simply delivered on the club’s own platforms, but the public relations staff actively framed the narrative of these stories for strategic benefit. These results have significant implications for sports journalism, as it suggests the rapid development of sports organisations’ social and digital media platforms has the potential to irrevocably alter the once symbiotic relationship between sport and media.

With the advent of social network services such as Twitter, Facebook, Tumbler, and Google+, the research on social network and media analysis has been greatly advanced. In recent years, the interactions among people, sharing of knowledge and experiences, community activities in social network services increase greatly, which would make the research on social networks more important. Furthermore, as social media contents within social network services are rapidly being produced and consumed, the social media contents now account for the majority of content published on the world wide web. Social media is differentiated from traditional media in many aspects such as its frequency, quality, usability, immediacy, and permanence, which leads to significant potential to the social media analysis research.

With the increasing development of social communication on social media networks, new linguistic forms have emerged thanks to the technological devices offered by digital platforms, which can be regarded as open spaces characterised by hypertextuality and polysemioticity. This research aims to analyse the typical features of the social media Twitter which is largely used by news media professionals and by political leaders for their official communication. As a sociotechnical digital communication platform, Twitter proves to be the most appropriate broadcast medium for live news since it tends to reduce social and geographical distances between Twitter users who can interact with each other by sending informal messages. Eventually, Twitter can often be viewed as the first social media network allowing transmedial quotations that circulate on other social networks.

Social media provides a fertile ground for any user to find or share information about various events with others. At the same time, social media is not always used for benign purposes. With the availability of inexpensive and ubiquitous mass communication tools, disseminating false information and propaganda is both convenient and effective. In this research, we studied Online Deviant Groups (ODGs) that conduct cyber propaganda campaigns in order to achieve strategic and political goals, influence mass thinking, and steer behaviors or perspectives about an event. We provide case studies in which various disinformation and propaganda swamped social media during two NATO exercises in 2015. We demonstrate ODGs’ capability to spread anti-NATO propaganda using a highly sophisticated and well-coordinated social media campaign. In particular, blogs were used as virtual spaces where narratives are framed. And, to generate discourse, web traffic was driven to these virtual spaces via other social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, and VKontakte. By further examining the information flows within the social media networks, we identify sources of mis/disinformation and their reach, i.e., how far and how quickly the mis/disinformation could travel and consequently detect manipulation. The chapter presents an in-depth examination of the information networks using social network analysis (SNA) and social cyber forensics (SCF) based methodologies to identify prominent information brokers, leading coordinators, and information competitors who seek to further their own agenda. Through SCF tools, e.g., Maltego, we extract metadata associated with disinformation-riddled websites. The extracted metadata helps in uncovering the implicit relations among various ODGs. We further collected the social network of various ODGs (i.e., their friends and followers) and their communication network (i.e., network depicting the flow of information such as tweets, retweets, mentions, and hyperlinks). SNA helped us identify influential users and powerful groups responsible for coordinating the various disinformation campaigns. One of the key research findings is the vitality of the link between blogs and other social media platforms to examine disinformation campaigns.
