The literature review in this chapter is aimed to critique the use of inputs and process support strategies in the software review process. This chapter presents the important relationships between the use of inputs, meeting process, and software review process performance. Inputs can be classified into explicit and implicit inputs. Explicit inputs refer to software review artefacts and supporting documents. Implicit inputs refer to a software reviewer’s characteristics. A meeting process refers factors that affect meeting process. The software review performance refers the outcomes from the meeting process. Software review performance can be measured by qualitative and/or quantitative methods. The final section presents the limitation of current software review literature.

We outline several criteria for evaluating student statistical software programs and review four programs ( SPSS 6.1, Mystat 2 1, ET 3.0, and StataQuest 2). Although all four programs perform adequately on many, if not all, criteria, we recommend SPSS for class use, given adequate resources. Mystat, SPSS, and StataQuest emphasize introductory data analysis techniques, whereas ET is geared toward (and excels at) more advanced statistical techniques. 1 Keywords computing, data analysis, statistical software, classroom, student, statistics.

The Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science publishes reviews of recent marketing-related books, videos, and software that appear to be of general interest to both marketing scholars and practitioners. As such, JAMS does not publish reviews of material intended solely for classroom skills use (e.g., marketing textbooks). The purpose of the Book, Video, and Software Review section is to provide thoughtful perspectives on material related to specific themes (e.g., marketing relationships, ethics, consumer behavior). The review should be stimulating to the reader while sharing knowledge in the marketing field. Foremost, reviews should be candid and well written. The reviewer should avoid a descriptive style (i.e., "Chapter t describes . . . . " "Chapter 2 explains . . . . " "Chapter 3 discusses . . . . " "Chapter 4 contains . . ."). Rather, the review should be an essay on a particular topic, possibly even reflecting the reviewer's character. The review must be as objective as possible, without tending to present a positive for every negative and vice versa. However, the reviewer should also attempt to be helpful to both the author of the book, video, or software and the potential user of the material. Therefore, the reviewer should avoid overt negativism and instead convey concerns in a constructive, professional, and thought-provoking manner. While continuing to publish essays related to books and software, JAMS is initiating a rating system for videos. In future editions of JAMS, videos will be reviewed by three individuals. The resulting review will be a combination of the three reviewers' thoughts, concerns, opinions, and so on, as well as the individual results from a three-star rating system. Naturally, three stars represent a "must-see," with two stars being an "okay" video, and a one-star rating representing "not worth your while." Reviews are solicited from readers of JAMS. While unsolicited reviews are invited, the potential reviewer should check with the section editor to avoid duplication of effort. All reviews are edited for length and clarity. Please contact the Book, Video, and Software review editor if you know of material that should be reviewed in JAMS or if you would like to volunteer to review. Crittenden, Marketing Department, The Carroll School of Management, Boston College, Chestnut Hill, MA 02167; phone: (617) 552-0430; fax: (617) 552-2097; e-mail: victoria.crittenden @bc.edu.

Project Portfolio Management (PPM) has gained success in many projects due to its large number of features that covers effective scheduling, risk management, collaboration, and third-party software integrations to mention a few. A broad range of PPM software is available; however, it is essential to select the PPM with minimum usage issues over time. While many companies use surveys and market research to get users feedback, the PPM product software reviews carry the voice of users; the positive and negative sentiments of the PPM software reviews. This paper collected 4,775 reviews of ten PPM software from Capttera.com. Our approach has these phases- text preprocessing, sentiment analysis, summarization, and categorizations. The software reviews are filtered and cleaned, then negative sentiments of user reviews are summarized into a set of factors that identify issues of adopted PPM software. We report the most important issues of PPM software which were related to missing technological features and lack of training. Results using Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) model showed that the top ten common issues are related to software complexity and lack of required features.

The purpose of the section is to provide reviews of the wide variety of computer software and related material available for use by economists. Products reviewed will include econometrics, statistical and various optimisation and stimulation packages available to economists for use in both teaching and research. From time to time overview articles related to computer software available in particular areas of economics will be published. The section will cover other functional software useful to academic economists (such as spreadsheets, database managers and mathematical wordprocessors), databases, bibliographical and other resources available in CD‐ROM and the Internet, CAL material and other software sold with textbooks. Some Software Reviews from previous volumes of this section of The Economic Journal are available in electronic form to users of the World‐Wide Web via the sosig server at the University of Bristol. Software review is a necessity activity to build high reliability software in software development. In this paper, we experimentally analyze the difference in performance between two types of (checklist based) software reviews: design review and code review. If good code reviewers were also good at design review, then we should assign good code reviewers to the design review too. If not, that means these two reviews require different types of expertise. In our experiment, with ten review participants, we examined two hypotheses each related to the defect detection ratio and the required time to find a defect. As a result, we found that there was no correlation between two reviews, i.e. good code reviewers were not necessarily the good design reviewers. This suggests the need of a completely different training program for each review.

Disease surveillance makes use of information technology at almost every stage of the process, from data collection and collation, through to analysis and dissemination. Automated data collection systems enable near-real time analysis of incoming data. This context places a heavy burden on software used for space-time surveillance. In this paper, we review software programs capable of space-time disease surveillance analysis, and outline some of their salient features, shortcomings, and usability. Programs with space-time methods were selected for inclusion, limiting our review to ClusterSeer, SaTScan, GeoSurveillance and the Surveillance package for R. We structure the review around stages of analysis: preprocessing, analysis, technical issues, and output. Simulated data were used to review each of the software packages. SaTScan was found to be the best equipped package for use in an automated surveillance system. ClusterSeer is more suited to data exploration, and learning about the different methods of statistical surveillance.

Introduction. The article describes a forward-looking technology in the field of construction industry and urban management – CIM (City Information Modeling) – an information model of a city. Emergence of the information modelling have led to the possibility to create the 3D models not only of individual objects, but also of a city as a whole with its buildings, infrastructure, geological and environmental factors. But creation and maintenance of the city models require the software tools. The aim of the present research is to make a review of the available software, describe its properties and field of application. CIM application capacities are also defined. The tasks, which can be solved by means of such a model, are described. The result of using GIS technologies in creating a city information model with respect to the data on housing stock energy efficiency level is shown.Materials and Methods. Within the research, an analytical review of the existing software for creating an information model of a city was carried out, the works of the scientists, who contributed to the issue of urban modeling, were studied. The information sources useful for further research were identified. Geo-information systems ARC GIS 10.1 ESRI were used to create a city information model.Results. A city information model can be described as a replication of the historical and cultural, socio-economic and religious events and phenomena; the three-dimensional models, geo-information virtual systems created by means of the space-based processing and information technologies, including BIM (Building Information Modeling) and GIS (Geographic Information Systems). The software complexes, which function based on the analysis of the valid data and creation of design entities, are used to create the information models of the urban territories. The major companies importing the urban modeling software, Autodesk and Bentley, offer both BIM and CIM tools.Discussion and Conclusions. The term "Smart City" has become especially popular due to development of BIM technologies. This is an innovative approach based on the digital technologies application, which directly affects the activities and efficiency of provided services and rising the city living standard. For solving the thematic problems, there exist the focused technologies and tools of the modern urban environment development. The main task of the "Smart City" is enhancement of the comfort standard of the residents’ living. This task is solved by creating a city information model integrating the information about the terrain, buildings and structures, roads, green spaces, etc.

The MacroBytes software package is a computer-assisted instructional (CAI) tool designed to accompany the intermediate macroeconomics textbook Macroeconomics, by N. Gregory Mankiw. Its intent is to reinforce the concepts presented in the textbook while at the same time being comprehensive and self-contained. Use of the program does not require the student to have immediate access to the textbook, yet the program does refer the student to appropriate sections of the text for further reading at a later time.
