Design researchers should pay attention on the issue of gamification design, search for proper interdisciplinary theories and knowledge with explanations, deepen the understanding and application of the operation mechanism, and master the meaning and value of effective communication efficiency. The objectives of this study are summarized as below. 1. To apply gamification design to facilitate website design communication efficiency and user experiences. 2. To construct the web experiment to explore the impacts of gamification in the communication efficiency of websites. 3. To propose effective design principles applying gamification design to websites based on the test results of the web experiment. The research methods are further explained as following. Step 1: Construct experimented webs of control web and experimental web. Step 2: Test experimented webs and recruit users to participate and complete tasks on such two webs. Step 3: Questionnaire survey is preceded on users and semi-structured interviews aim to find out users’ web experience and perception by evaluating following dimensions. Ease of use, efficiency, comprehension, pleasure, satisfaction, and attraction motivation. Step 4: Discuss and analyze the effect of the use of gamification on the communication efficiency of web design, according to above test results, questionnaire, and interviews. Step 5: Conclude the principle of applying gamification to web design to enhance effective communication. It is expected that this study would contribute to designers and businesses understanding how to construct effective gamification design, offer users with better experiences, propose effective design principles for applying gamification design to websites, construct new interdisciplinary knowledge for design research, as well as create new opportunities of experience design for different industries and social and psychological needs.

This research focuses on the development and implementation of a web-based citizen data management system in Keboan Anom Village, Sidoarjo, Indonesia. The aim of the study is to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of citizen data recording and management processes. The System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) Waterfall model is employed as the methodology for system development, ensuring an organized and systematic approach. Data collection involves semi-structured interviews and unstructured observations, targeting the village's RT 01 (neighborhood association) officials. The application features two key functions: citizen registration, including permanent and non-permanent residents, and a comprehensive data summary. Access to these functions is limited to the RT Secretary and the RT Chairman. The implementation of the system provides improved data management and financial tracking capabilities, enabling simplified reporting. The web-based platform ensures accessibility for RT officials and residents with internet connectivity. Black box testing confirms the functionality of the website and its compliance with expected outputs. The results demonstrate that the application supports the transformation of Keboan Anom Village into a more efficient and technologically connected Digital Village. Future research is suggested to examine community participation levels in using the citizen data management application and its impact on decision-making and overall village governance, incorporating participatory approaches to understand the perspectives and active involvement of Keboan Anom Village residents.

Relevance: in modern conditions, teachers are actively involved in the creation of electronic textbooks, interactive notebooks, various forms and test tasks, etc. All this means developing and designing objects of the Internet information environment from the standpoint of user-friendliness and meeting the user's aesthetic needs. The web design competence development of teaching staff at vocational education institutions is an urgent need in the context of digitalisation of education. Aim: defining the structure of competence in web design for teaching staff of vocational education institutions and substantiating the methodology for its development. Methods: analysis and synthesis – to determine the development state of the problem under study and the list of competence in web design of teaching staff; generalization – to formulate conclusions and recommendations for the web design competence development of teaching staff at vocational education institutions; diagnostic (testing, conversation) – to find out the level of competence in web design of teaching staff. Results: it was found that more than 17% of teachers design and create websites and web pages that combine text with sounds, pictures, graphics and video; 5-7% use various graphic editors and image processing services; about 80 % of respondents carry out independent design development of electronic publications (a product containing information in electronic form); less than 6 % of respondents indicated that there is a unified approach to the design of educational materials on hard copy and for posting on the Internet. The structure of competence in web design for teaching staff of vocational education institutions consists of technical skills (basics of composition, typography, colour science, graphic design, design software, user interface (UI), user experience (UX), responsive design) and soft skills (project management, time management, copywriting, web design awareness, creative thinking, critical thinking, attention to detail, communication, self-reflection). To assess this competence, four levels (initial, low, medium, high) have been developed, taking into account the indicators of motivational, cognitive, activity and reflective criteria. Taking into account the specifics of the teaching staff activities at vocational education institutions, a methodology for their design education has been developed, which is aimed at developing competence in web design and includes seven stages. Conclusions: Teaching staff of vocational education institutions are involved in the development of e-learning content, but have a low level of competence in web design. The web design competence of a teaching staff member of a vocational education institution is a combination of knowledge, skills and attitudes to web design technologies to create educational content for performing tasks, solving problems, communicating, managing information, working together in the information and educational environment of a vocational education institution, doing it effectively, appropriately, safely, critically, creatively, independently and ethically. At the same time, the teacher does not have to be a web designer, he/she uses the tools and ready-made algorithms of the services he/she works with, the basis of his/her training in this field is graphic design, typography, copywriting, etc. for the effective presentation of electronic content.

Transcriptomic technologies have a critical impact in the revolutionary changes that reshape biological research. Through the recruitment of novel high-throughput instrumentation and advanced computational methodologies, an unprecedented wealth of quantitative data is produced. Microarray experiments are considered high-throughput, both in terms of data volumes (data intensive) and processing complexity (computationally intensive). In this paper, we present grids for in silico systems biology and medicine (GRISSOM), a web-based application that exploits GRID infrastructures for distributed data processing and management, of DNA microarrays (cDNA, Affymetrix, Illumina) through a generic, consistent, computational analysis framework. GRISSOM performs versatile annotation and integrative analysis tasks, through the use of third-party application programming interfaces, delivered as web services. In parallel, by conforming to service-oriented architectures, it can be encapsulated in other biomedical processing workflows, with the help of workflow enacting software, like Taverna Workbench, thus rendering access to its algorithms, transparent and generic. GRISSOM aims to set a generic paradigm of efficient metamining that promotes translational research in biomedicine, through the fusion of grid and semantic web computing technologies.

The emerging heterogeneity of data management, programming models and operating platforms in sensor nodes are making the seamless interoperation of devices a challenge. We consider this problem and leverage on the concepts of semantic web and service-oriented design to propose a model that adds a semantics and service-oriented layer to existing network models. This added layer hides the hardware as well as software implementation details from the application layer and thus allows seamless data management between nodes whose capabilities may even be unknown. The proposed model builds on top of well established standards OWL and OWL-S to encapsulate sensor data and services as hierarchical ontology and provides interfaces for service advertisement and discovery. A case study has been discussed whereby the proposed model is used for service-oriented data management (acquisition, archival, processing).

BackgroundMost research scientists working in the fields of molecular epidemiology, population and evolutionary genetics are confronted with the management of large volumes of data. Moreover, the data used in studies of infectious diseases are complex and usually derive from different institutions such as hospitals or laboratories. Since no public database scheme incorporating clinical and epidemiological information about patients and molecular information about pathogens is currently available, we have developed an information system, composed by a main database and a web-based interface, which integrates both types of data and satisfies requirements of good organization, simple accessibility, data security and multi-user support.ResultsFrom the moment a patient arrives to a hospital or health centre until the processing and analysis of molecular sequences obtained from infectious pathogens in the laboratory, lots of information is collected from different sources. We have divided the most relevant data into 12 conceptual modules around which we have organized the database schema. Our schema is very complete and it covers many aspects of sample sources, samples, laboratory processes, molecular sequences, phylogenetics results, clinical tests and results, clinical information, treatments, pathogens, transmissions, outbreaks and bibliographic information. Communication between end-users and the selected Relational Database Management System (RDMS) is carried out by default through a command-line window or through a user-friendly, web-based interface which provides access and management tools for the data.ConclusionepiPATH is an information system for managing clinical and molecular information from infectious diseases. It facilitates daily work related to infectious pathogens and sequences obtained from them. The basic educational process of higher vocational college education is to teach young people with development of their morality, intelligence, physique, critical thinking and labor, with certain theoretical and practical knowledge. The research focuses on the study from traditional teaching to independent practical learning. The main change possibility is about teacher and student’s cooperation which guides methodology and a project-based learning opportunity. The paper presents teaching and learning possibility based on an application of web page design and production course. We, beginning with the studies existed in web design and production course, introduce the application-based course, and develop the application the web design and production course teaching method. Through application-based project courses, students are able learn basic operations related computer software and then practice designing and producing digital products. The paper can show the practical teaching method in the course of web design and production has been effective in promoting learners, their interest in learning and improving their professional core qualities.

Rich Internet applications have removed most of the constraints of Web 1.0 while giving users more responsiveness and advanced browsing and interaction experiences. These new horizons, however, raise many challenges for people with disabilities or using limited hardware and software technologies, whose risk to be excluded from the benefits deriving from advanced web applications. To address this problem, WCAG 2.0 guidelines have been released as the newest World Wide Web Consortium recommendation for accessible web content, and WAI-ARIA is a candidate recommendation which provides reference specifications for accessible rich Internet applications. However, both specifications contain a huge amount of information that often discourages most web designers from dealing with accessibility issues. Moreover, guidelines are suitable and usually adopted to judge a design solution a posteriori, but they do not suggest how to face a design problem constructively. This paper proposes a design pattern language for accessibility. The language can be regarded as a universal design resource for helping web designers create accessible rich Internet applications compliant with the most recent standards. Knowledge representation through design patterns reflects the problem-solving approach usually followed by software and web designers, while pattern organization in a structured language aims to guide web designers throughout the design process. The language has been implemented as an accessible rich Internet application itself, thus allowing designers with disabilities to participate in web design. In order to evaluate the design pattern language, a three-step process was carried out including: (1) a heuristic analysis with a group of human---computer interaction experts, (2) a survey study with a group of web designers, and (3) a validation on the field with two designers who have been requested to apply the language in real design cases.

It provides a user friendly data acquisition module to facilitate comprehensive and intuitive data handling. SeqBench provides direct access to the analysis pipeline SIMPLEX, which can be configured to run locally, on a cluster, or in the cloud.
