Students' mathematical literacy ability in solving story problems

The importance of the relationship between mathematical literacy skills and higher-order thinking skills is in line with the 3 competencies needed in the 21st century. Mathematical literacy skills are very important for students to understand the function of mathematics in everyday life through the formulation, use, and interpretation of mathematics in various contexts. This research aims to analyze and describe the mathematical literacy abilities of elementary school students through diagnostic assessments based on metacognitive abilities at PPL PPG Daljab. The type of research used in this research is descriptive qualitative with research subjects of 60 elementary school students who were reviewed through a diagnostic assessment based on metacognitive abilities. data collection through test results and questionnaire results. Data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing are carried out in data analysis. The research results obtained are that applying innovative learning models or methods can improve and develop the mathematical literacy skills of elementary school students, especially class V. So, teachers need to familiarize students with working on story problems, especially open-ended type story problems, and innovate in learning to motivate them. students to be actively and directly involved in the problem-solving process so that they can improve students mathematical literacy skills.

This research aims to examine several literatures related to the Problem Based Learning learning model on mathematical literacy abilities. The research method used in this research is the SLR method. Journal searches were carried out using the keywords PBL learning model and mathematical literacy skills published in the 2019-2023 period obtained with the help of the Publish or Perish application. The results of this research show that: 1) the problem-based learning model can improve students' mathematical literacy skills; 2) research related to the PBL learning model on students' mathematical literacy abilities in the 2019-2023 period tends to be mostly carried out in 2021, at junior high school level, and is a type of quantitative research.

The purpose of this study was to describe the level of mathematical literacy ability of class VIII MTsN 1 Mataram based on gender. The research is quantitative desciptive research which method are used to describe, explain various variabel in the study as expressed the documentary materials. The assessment system in this study uses 2 methods, namely mathematical literacy and analytical problem solving. Mathematical literacy has 6 (six) levels in measurement and consists of three aspects, namely content, context, and cognitive aspects, while for assessment using analytical problem solving there are 3 (three) levels, namely low, medium and high. The data collection technique used a questionnaire in the form of mathematical literacy test questions that had been approved by 3 validators. Based on the results of the research, the level of mathematical literacy skills, based on mathematical literacy female dominant at level 3 which means that students are able to apply the basic algorithm, formulate and carry out the procedure and can select and apply strategies to solve simple and the mathematical literacy skills of male students are dominant at level 2 which means that students are able to apply the basic algorithm, formulate and carry out the procedure. Based on analytical problem solving students' mathematical literacy skills are at low and medium levels where female mathematical literacy skills are higher compared to male. Bassed t-test 2 sampel independent mathematical literacy ability male and female doesn’t have a significant difference.

Indonesian students often have difficulty in fulfilling mathematical literacy indicators which results in low mathematical literacy abilities of students in Indonesia. Not only that, the PISA study (which tests students' mathematical literacy skills in several countries) states that Indonesia occupies a lower position when compared to other countries. The purpose of this research is to find out several things that need to be improved to welcome the next PISA study. The method used is a literature study that aims to review past phenomena and phenomena that are currently happening. The results obtained in this study are that the mathematical literacy ability of Indonesian students is still low when compared to other countries such as China, Singapore, Japan, and Argentina. The conclusion obtained is that Indonesian students must start getting used to working on math exercise in HOTS (High Order Thinking Skills) type questions which can improve mathematical literacy skills

This research aims to describe the mathematical literacy abilities in class XII TKR1. The study involved 17 students who were classified at the level of mathematical ability. Classification of students' mathematical ability levels is based on the average score of daily mathematics tests based on Learning Goal Achievement Criteria (KKTP). The research method used is qualitative description. The data in this research were obtained from observations, tests and interviews. The test used is a mathematical literacy ability test which includes 4 questions which refer to indicators of mathematical literacy ability. The test results show that the literacy of class XII TKR1 students was still low based on the KKTP score. Apart from that, based on the indicators, SS and SR subjects have not met the indicators, while ST subjects have only one indicator that has not met the.

The background to this research is based on the need to improve students' mathematical literacy skills, which are integrated with character formation based on Pancasila values. This research aims to analyze the validity of the mathematics literacy test implemented with the Pancasila student profile in developing test instruments. This research uses the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) development model, with a focus on validation of the instruments developed. The instrument consists of 20 questions that were validated by media experts, material experts, and language experts. The research results show that media validation, material validation, and language validation are in the very valid category. Of the 20 questions, 1 question item was declared valid in the very high category, 2 questions were valid in the high category, 14 questions were valid in the medium category, and 3 questions were valid in the low category. The reliability of the instrument is classified as high with a value of 0.783. Apart from that, 7 questions have good differentiating power, while 13 questions have sufficient differentiating power. Based on the level of difficulty, 4 questions are in the difficult criteria, 14 questions are in the medium criteria, and 4 questions are in the easy criteria. These results indicate that the mathematical literacy test instrument developed generally has good validity and reliability and can be used as an effective measuring tool in evaluating students' mathematical literacy abilities, as well as integrating the values ​​of the Pancasila student profile.

Study This aims to analyze the connections between the ability of literacy mathematical students to finish questions on PISA Change and relationships, which are oriented on content and levels of efficiency. Study This uses design study descriptive qualitative. The sample for this research consisted of three class VIII B students at SMPN 3 Colomadu, Karanganyar Regency. The three subjects were selected based on the results of responses to the questionnaire and PISA questions, taking into account their level of self-efficacy, which was divided into low, medium, and high. The research instrument consisted of a questionnaire regarding student self-efficacy and PISA questions related to Change and Relationship content. After analyzing the questionnaire and students' answers, they interviewed the three subjects. The research results show that students' mathematical literacy skills in solving questions oriented towards changes in PISA content and their interrelationships require improvement. The level of students' self-efficacy in solving mathematics literacy problems is classified as moderate, and there is a significant positive relationship between mathematics literacy abilities and students' self-efficacy.

The purpose of this study was to determine the description of students' mathematical disposition and mathematical literacy skills in solving PISA-type questions in terms of students' mathematical dispositions. This research is a qualitative descriptive research with qualitative methods. The subjects of this study were 35 students of class 10 MIPA which were then narrowed down to three students representing each level of disposition, namely low, medium and high. The data collection technique used was a mathematical disposition questionnaire, written tests of mathematical literacy, and interviews. The results showed that there were five students who were included in students with low mathematical dispositions, 25 students had moderate mathematical dispositions, and nine students had high mathematical dispositions. Students with low mathematical dispositions reach level 1 on PISA mathematical literacy skills, students with low mathematical dispositions achieve level 4 moderate mathematical literacy abilities, and students with high mathematical dispositions achieve level 6 PISA mathematical literacy abilities.

This study aims to analyze the effect of math phobia, locus of control, and adversity quotient on the mathematical literacy skills of junior high school students. This type of research is ex post facto research in the form of correlation. The population in this study were all class VII students of SMPQ Darul Maarif and SMP IT Hidayatul Falah Rejang Lebong. The sampling technique used random simple sampling in which 47 students were selected at SMPQ Darul Maarif and 50 students at SMP IT Hidayatul Falah Rejang Lebong. The collection was carried out using a mathematics phobia, locus of control, and adversity quotient questionnaire and test sheets for students' mathematical literacy abilities. Research data were analyzed using path analysis techniques (path analysis). Research shows that there is a significant positive effect both simultaneously and partially between math phobia, locus of control, and adversity quotient on mathematical literacy skills

Mathematical literacy ability is a person's ability to apply mathematical concepts in everyday life. However, the importance of this ability is not balanced by the low mathematics literacy scores of Indonesian students. The aim of this research is to collect data regarding learning media using virtual reality tour website technology to help improve mathematical literacy skills. The method used in this research is R&D with the ADDIE model. The sampling technique in this research was a cross-sectional study. Meanwhile, data collection techniques were carried out by means of observation, interviews and distributing questionnaires in the form of questionnaires. This research focuses on analyzing learning media needs for teachers and students at MTs Islamiyyah Syafi'iyah Gandrirojo and SMP IT Avicenna in Rembang district. The research results show that teachers need learning media that is interesting, interactive, easy to explore and able to visualize everyday life to improve students' mathematical literacy skills. This is also supported by the results of the student needs analysis questionnaire which stated that students were interested and agreed that a virtual reality tour website media would be developed to help apply mathematical concepts into everyday life.

This study aims to determine the mathematical literacy abilities of students in Gorontalo. This study seeks to uncover and describe the problems of mathematical literacy faced by students. Literacy plays an important role for students. One of the literacy that must be mastered by students is mathematical literacy. Several mathematical literacy skills are widely reviewed in national articles. The research is more dominant in discussing the profile of students' mathematical literacy skills, the influence of learning models on mathematical literacy skills and the rest describes the results of a literature study on mathematical literacy with reference to nine article documents.

The purpose of this research are (1) to analyze the learning quality of MEAs with MURDER strategy, (2) to analyze students’ mathematical literacy ability based on goal orientation in MEAs learning with MURDER strategy. This research is a mixed method research of concurrent embedded type where qualitative method as the primary method. The data were obtained using the methods of scale, observation, test and interviews. The results showed that (1) MEAs Learning with MURDER strategy on students' mathematical literacy ability is qualified, (2) Students who have mastery goal characteristics are able to master the seven components of mathematical literacy process although there are still two components that the solution is less than the maximum. Students who have performance goal characteristics have not mastered the components of mathematical literacy process with the maximum, they are only able to master the ability of using mathematics tool and the other components of mathematical literacy process is quite good.

This study aims to determine students’ mathematical literacy skills based on their learning styles. This descriptive research used a learning style questionnaire, a students’ mathematical literacy test to determine students’ mathematical skills, and interviews to complement the data. The data analysis included analyzing the learning style and mathematical literacy tests with data validity using the triangulation method. This study revealed several results: 1) The mathematical literacy skills of students with visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning styles were still deficient, where only 14% of students answering the mathematical literacy questions correctly; 2) The mathematical literacy skills of students with a kinesthetic learning style were better than students’ with visual and auditory learning styles; 3) Students with a visual learning style had been able to formulate the given mathematical problems, while the use of mathematical concepts and interpreting mathematical problems were still lacking; 4) Students with an auditory learning style had the lowest skills in formulating mathematical problems so that they mistakenly used basic mathematical concepts; and 5) Students with a kinesthetic learning style were able to formulate and use mathematical concepts properly and correctly despite still lack of interpreting mathematical problems.

The aim of this study is to reveal the mathematical literacy skills of seventh grade students according to the PISA Mathematical Literacy Framework. In the study, a special case study from qualitative research methods was used. The participants of the study were 25 seventh grade students studying in the middle school of a public school in Giresun province in the 2022-2023 academic year. ‘Mathematical Literacy Test’ was used as a data collection tool. The data obtained from the analysis were evaluated in accordance with the scoring of PISA questions and subjected to descriptive analysis. As a result of the analysis, it was concluded that the content area in which seventh grade students were most successful was the uncertainty and data area, and the mathematical process with the highest performance was the formulation process. While solving the mathematical literacy questions, it was determined that the students were successful in representation skill, reasoning and showing evidence skills, which are among the basic mathematical skills.

This article contains a survey research report with a correlative approach between mathematical literacy skills and the pedagogic competence of vocational mathematics teachers in Manado city, North Sulawesi province. Correlation analysis was carried out on three categories of mathematical literacy abilities which include spatial literacy skills, numerical literacy skills and data literacy abilities, each with pedagogic competence. In addition, a correlation analysis was also carried out between the three categories of literacy abilities together with pedagogic competence. Data were analyzed by testing 4 (four) statistical hypotheses by applying multiple regression and correlation analysis. The results showed that (1) there was a positive influence of spatial literacy on the pedagogic competence of mathematics teachers, (2) there was a positive effect of numerical literacy on teachers' pedagogic competence, (3) there was a positive influence of data literacy on the pedagogic competence of mathematics teachers, there was a positive influence of spatial literacy. , (4) there is a positive influence of spatial, numerical and data literacy which together affect the pedagogic competence of mathematics teachers. Thus, it can be concluded that the mathematical literacy skills of vocational mathematics teachers in the city of Manado, North Sulawesi province have a positive effect on their pedagogic abilities.
