Switching threshold‐based event‐triggered adaptive asymptotic tracking control for stochastic nonlinear systems with full‐state constraints

This study proposes the time-/event-triggered adaptive neural control strategies for the asymptotic tracking problem of a class of uncertain nonlinear systems with full-state constraints. First, we design a time-triggered strategy. The effect caused by the residuals of the estimation via radial basis function (RBF) neural networks (NNs), and the reasonable upper bounds on the first derivative of the reference signal and the derivative of each virtual control, can be eliminated by designing appropriate adaptive laws and utilizing the basic properties of RBF NNs. Moreover, the construction of the barrier Lyapunov functions (BLFs) in this work ensures the compliance of the full-state constraints and also holds the asymptotic output tracking performance. Then, based on the time-triggered strategy, we further design a relative threshold event-triggered strategy. The proposed event-triggered adaptive neural controller can solve the main control objective of this work, that is: 1) the full-state constraint requirements of the system are not violated and 2) the output signal asymptotically tracks the reference signal. Compared with the traditional method, the event-triggered strategy can improve the utilization of communication channels and resources and has greater practical significance. Finally, an example of single-link robot under the proposed two strategies illustrates the validity of the constructed controllers.

Adaptive asymptotic tracking control of constrained nonlinear MIMO systems subject to unknown hysteresis input: A novel network-based strategy

In the article, the issues of asymptotic adaptive tracking control for the uncertain nonlinear systems in the presence of actuator faults and unknown control directions are investigated. By using the properties of the Nussbaum function and backstepping technique, the problems resulting from the unknown signs of the nonlinear control functions are circumvented successfully. Moreover, a new adaptive asymptotic tracking control method is presented with the fault-tolerant control framework, which is capable of realising zero-tracking performance. The stability of the controlled system is ensured through fractional Lyapunov stability analysis. Finally, the validity of the raised scheme is verified by a simulation example.

This paper investigates the adaptive neural network (NN) tracking control problem for stochastic nonlinear systems with multiple actuator constraints and full-state constraints. The issue of system full-state constraints is tackled by a generalized barrier Lyapunov function (GBLF), and the output constraints of the system are considered to be in the form of time-varying functions, which are more in line with the needs of real physical systems. The NN approximation technique is utilized to overcome the influence of the uncertainty term on controller design due to randomness. Based on the backstepping technique, a neural adaptive fixed-time tracking control strategy is designed. Under the designed control strategy, the tracking accuracy of the controlled system can reach the expectation in a fixed time. The multi-actuator constraints are converted into a generalized mathematical model to simplify the controller design process. Using the characteristics of the hyperbolic tangent function, a new function called practical virtual control signal is designed using the virtual control signal as the input. Due to the saturation constraint property of the hyperbolic tangent function, it is theoretically ensured that no state of the system exceeds the constraints through to the new form of the virtual controller. Using the adaptive controller constructed in this paper, the controlled system is semi-global fixed-time stabilized in probability (SGFSP). Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy is further verified by simulation examples.

SummaryThis paper studies the problem of adaptive fuzzy asymptotic tracking control for multiple input multiple output nonlinear systems in nonstrict‐feedback form. Full state constraints, input quantization, and unknown control direction are simultaneously considered in the systems. By using the fuzzy logic systems, the unknown nonlinear functions are identified. A modified partition of variables is introduced to handle the difficulty caused by nonstrict‐feedback structure. In each step of the backstepping design, the symmetric barrier Lyapunov functions are designed to avoid the breach of the state constraints, and the issues of overparametrization and unknown control direction are settled via introducing two compensation functions and the property of Nussbaum function, respectively. Furthermore, an adaptive fuzzy asymptotic tracking control strategy is raised. Based on Lyapunov stability analysis, the developed control strategy can effectually ensure that all the system variables are bounded, and the tracking errors asymptotically converge to zero. Eventually, simulation results are supplied to verify the feasibility of the proposed scheme.

This article focuses on the asymptotic tracking control problem for uncertain nonlinear systems subject to both multiple disturbances and parametric uncertainties. To address this issue, a parameter adaptation law is synthesized to deal with the parametric uncertainties, and an adaptive-gain disturbance estimator (ADE) is constructed to estimate the mismatched and matched disturbances, and compensate them in feedforward channels, which eliminates the impact of disturbances on tracking performance. Meanwhile, an updated law for estimator gain driven by the estimation errors is utilized in the ADE when facing unknown upper bounds of disturbances, which reduces the conservatism of estimator gain selection and is beneficial to practical implementation. Based on the parameter adaption technique and the presented ADE approach, a composite controller is proposed to ensure an excellent asymptotic output tracking performance. The stability analysis shows the proposed controller can attain asymptotic tracking performance in the presence of both time-variant disturbances and parametric uncertainties. Comparative simulation results of the application to a robot manipulator reveal the validity of the developed approach.

Adaptive dynamic surface tracking control for uncertain full-state constrained nonlinear systems with disturbance compensation

In this work, a neural-networks (NNs)-based adaptive asymptotic tracking control scheme is presented for a class of uncertain nonstrict feedback nonlinear systems with time-varying full-state constraints. First, we construct a novel exponentially decaying nonlinear mapping to map the constrained system states to new system states without constraints. Instead of the traditional barrier Lyapunov function methods, the feasible conditions which require the virtual control signals satisfying the constraint requirements are removed. By employing the Nussbaum design method to eliminate the effect of unknown control gains, the general assumption about the signs of the unknown control gains is relaxed. Then, the nonstrict feedback form of the system can be pulled back to the strict feedback form through the basic properties of radial basis function NNs. Simultaneously, the intermediate control signals and the desired controller are constructed by the backstepping process and the Nussbaum design method. The designed controller can ensure that all signals in the whole closed-loop system are bounded without the violation of the constraints and hold the asymptotic tracking performance. In the end, a practical example about a brush dc motor driving a one-link robot manipulator is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed design scheme.

Event-triggered-based adaptive asymptotic tracking control for stochastic nonlinear time-delay systems with actuator and sensor faults

This article addresses an event-triggered adaptive fuzzy tracking control problem for nonlinear systems with unknown control directions. To achieve the practical tracking, fuzzy logic systems are employed to approximate unknown nonlinear function. Nussbaum functions are adopted to address the problem of the unknown control directions. The newly designed controller not only guarantees the tracking error that converges to an arbitrary small neighborhood near the zero but also reduces the communication burden from the controller to the actuator. Moreover, the feasibility of the proposed event-triggered mechanism is verified by excluding Zeno behavior. Finally, the simulation result proves the effectiveness of the designed control scheme.

Adaptive asymptotic tracking control for autonomous underwater vehicles with non-vanishing uncertainties and input saturation

This paper considers the output-feedback control problem for a class of stochastic nonlinear systems with unknown control directions and perturbations. By using radial basis function neural network (RBF NN) approximation approach, the tuning function method and backstepping technique, an adaptive output-feedback controller is successfully constructed to guarantee the closed-loop system to be mean square semi-globally uniformly ultimately bounded (M-SGUUB). A simulation example demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.
