The Application of Artificial Intelligence in China’s Cross border E-commerce Field

This study, set against the backdrop of Jiangxi Province's' 1269 'Action Plan, explores the pathways and mechanisms for integrating the cross-border e-commerce industry with strategic emerging industries. In the context of the rapid development of the global digital economy and the formation of a dual circulation pattern both domestically and internationally, cross-border e-commerce, as a new form of trade, has formed deep interactions with Jiangxi Province's key strategic emerging industries, such as electronics, new energy, and aviation. The study employs methods such as literature analysis, data mining, and case studies to systematically examine the current status, collaborative mechanisms, and integration paths of the cross-border e-commerce industry and strategic emerging industries in Jiangxi Province. The findings indicate that Jiangxi Province has effectively promoted the digital transformation of traditional industries and the international layout of emerging industries through the 'cross-border e-commerce + industrial belt' model, forming distinctive cross-border e-commerce industrial belts in areas like Ganzhou furniture, Jingdezhen ceramics, and Nanchang electronics. However, there are still shortcomings in policy coordination, industrial chain integration, and talent support. This study proposes a 'four-dimensional linkage' model of coordinated development, providing a theoretical framework and practical reference for inland regions to leverage cross-border e-commerce to empower industrial upgrading.

The development of cross border e-commerce industry is one of important global trends. From eMarketer (2019), the global sales of e-commerce in 2018 was 2.5 trillion US dollars and will reach 7.5 trillion US dollars in 2020. In this number - 7.5 trillion US dollars, the cross border e-commerce consumers will occupy 44.6% of e-commerce’s. Due to the quick development, companies will encounter problems by the way. The research purposes of this study was to discuss problems found through Osterwalder and Pigneur’s business model canvas analysis and provide suggestions. In this sense, During the time of one-year industry-academic cooperation program with Company A, the exploratory case study is relying on several sources of data collections through interviews, case analysis, site-visiting observations and secondary data collection (internal and external data) to analyze Company’s A cross order e-commerce business model and Taiwan’s cross border e-commerce ecosystem. The research subject (Company A) who locate in the vehicles components industry was a Taiwanese SEM and would like to transform into a cross border e-commerce company. The study aimed to explore the cross border e-commerce business model to answer the research question of What is Company A’s recent business model canvas ? If Company A would like to transform into cross border e-commerce, what are the problems? What is Taiwan cross border e-commerce ecosystem which Company A is located ? The research results and suggestions of this cross border e-commerce company are the following. Firstly, the problem is business opportunities are difficult to catch recently and the amount of each order earned is becoming smaller. The suggestion for this problem is to suggest adapting multiple cross border e-commerce portals operations on budgets and “Software Key activities” for decision making. The second problem is the cost of cross border e-commerce logistic is high. The suggest for this problem is to use Big Data Analysis and artificial intelligence (AI) technology to calculate exact oversea inventories. The third problem is lack of trust. The suggest for this problem is localization strategy, to systematically recruit and train the talents who are familiar with the culture, products and markets. And also The study also has some practical implications for cross-border e-commerce companies.

Abstract: Since the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the central government has proposed to realize the economic development model of domestic and international dual circulation. The development of China's cross-border e-commerce industry is in the ascendant, and the unicorn company Shein has achieved successive revenue achievements in recent years. However, there are still problems with the external environment, which is dominated by industrial policy and competition policy. This paper analyzes the current external environment of China's cross-border e-commerce, analyzes the relationship between China's industrial policy and competition policy, and enlightens the competition policy adjustment of China's cross-border e-commerce industry through foreign experience.

Background At present, due to the rapid growth trend and fierce competition in the cross-border e-commerce industry, workers in this industry often face high-intensity psychological pressure. Long working hours, uncertain performance requirements, and the need to work across time zones in the industry will have a negative impact on employees’ mental health. This high-pressure environment may cause employees to have mental health problems, including serious mental disorders such as schizophrenia. Schizophrenia is a serious mental health disease that has a serious impact on patients’ work ability and social function. Therefore, this study aims to explore the risk of schizophrenia among cross-border e-commerce employees under high-pressure working environment, and explore relevant intervention strategies. Methods The study used a questionnaire survey method to collect data. The questionnaire content included a description of the current cross-border e-commerce work environment, a stress perception scale, and a schizophrenia symptom assessment scale. The data collection subjects were employees of a cross-border e-commerce platform in 2023. A total of 500 questionnaires were distributed and 450 valid questionnaires were collected. The study used SPSS 23.0 software for data analysis, and used statistical methods such as correlation analysis and regression analysis to explore the relationship between work environment stress and schizophrenia risk. Results The study compared and analyzed the correlation between different stress influencing factors and the risk of schizophrenia, and analyzed the disease status of cross-border e-commerce employees under different pressures, as shown in Table 1. From Table 1, under the influence of different pressures, working hours and performance pressure are positively correlated with the risk of schizophrenia among cross-border e-commerce employees, among which working hours have the greatest correlation with schizophrenia. Able to reach 0.45. There is a negative correlation between social support and employee health status, with a correlation of -0.52. And there were statistically significant differences in all high-pressure environment and schizophrenia condition changes (P<0.05). It can be seen that the risk of schizophrenia among cross-border e-commerce employees in a high-pressure environment is greatly increased. Discussion The study verified the significant impact of high-pressure working environment on the risk of schizophrenia among cross-border e-commerce employees. Excessive working hours, performance pressure and lack of social support are the main triggers for employees to develop schizophrenia. Therefore, rationally arranging working hours, reducing unnecessary overtime, and increasing flexible working hours can effectively reduce the risk of employee illness. At the same time, companies should also establish a complete mental health support system to help employees better face stress by improving team support and interaction between employees. These measures can not only effectively reduce employees’ mental health risks, but also improve the overall competitiveness of cross-border e-commerce companies.

In recent years, the rapid development of China's cross-border e-commerce industry has led to the birth of many cross-border e-commerce platforms, while the outbreak of COVID-19 has brought about a strong impact on both daily life and economic development. In this context, this paper mainly uses the case analysis method and takes Koala as an example to analyse its development strategy's internal strengths and weaknesses as well as external opportunities and threats through SWOT analysis. From the conclusions of the study, it is clear that as a cross-border e-commerce platform, Koala has both unique and universal strengths and weaknesses, while facing the same opportunities and threats as other cross-border e-commerce platforms. This paper not only fills the gap of relatively little research on Koala, but also proposes targeted and innovative suggestions, with a view to enhancing the competitiveness of the company and providing a reference for the future development of the cross-border e-commerce industry.

Driven by globalization and advancements in internet technology, China's cross-border e-commerce industry has developed rapidly. However, it faces multiple challenges. Uncertain policy environments, the complexity of cross-border logistics, issues related to payment security and costs, differences in tax policies, and intense market competition are major factors hindering further growth. Frequent policy adjustments, high logistics costs, payment security challenges, difficulties in tax administration, and fierce market competition require cross-border e-commerce enterprises to continuously seek new growth points in an ever-changing market landscape. To promote sustainable development in cross-border e-commerce, concerted efforts from the government, businesses, and society are needed. This involves strengthening policy coordination, improving logistics systems, optimizing the payment environment, enhancing tax regulation, and boosting market competitiveness, thereby advancing China's cross-border e-commerce industry to new development stages.

The rapid development of China’s cross-border e-commerce has largely benefited from the support of industrial policies. This paper adopts social network analysis and content analysis, builds an analytical framework from the four dimensions: policy time, policy document type, text subject, and content theme. We conduct a quantitative analysis of 81 cross-border e-commerce industry policy texts from 2008 to 2018, and systematically reveal the characteristics of China’s cross-border e-commerce industry policy system, including document structure, subject network and content theme, as well as the time trend of those characteristics. The results show that China has initially established a cross-border e-commerce industry policy system with reasonable text structure and relatively concentrated themes, which covers all business links of the cross-border e-commerce industry ecological chain. Among them, four departments, including the Ministry of Commerce, the General Administration of Customs, the Administration of Taxation and the Ministry of Finance, are at the core of the cooperation network on industrial policy issuance. Customs management, foreign exchange receipt and payment, business pattern, tax administration, credit management, inside and outside coordination are the most concerned themes of cross-border e-commerce industry policy system during 2008–2018.

Purpose : Korea has the fifth largest e-commerce market in the world owing to its high consumption and Internet penetration, but policies and research to revitalize cross-border e-commerce are insufficient. This study derives measures and major tasks to revitalize cross-border e-commerce logistics clusters in Korea.
 Research design, data, and methodology : In order to investigate policy conditions and problems in the cross-border e-commerce industry in Korea, an expert group is formed, and the Delphi technique is used to identify conditions and derive problems through repeated investigations. In order to establish a cross-border e-commerce logistics cluster-construction roadmap in Korea, based on a survey by a group of experts using the Delphi technique, factors for each strategy are derived, and specific, detailed strategies are sought through AHP analysis.
 Results and Conclusions : Analysis found that in order to create a cross-border e-commerce logistics cluster in Korea, the e-commerce industry should be revitalized, the industry should be expanded in connection with related industries, and practical support should be provided to develop the industry through improvement of the support system.

This article studies the security politics of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in China. Using securitization as an analytical framework, it examines the official Chinese AI discourse and how AI is becoming a security matter. The article argues that the Chinese central government is securitizing AI to mobilize local states, market actors, intellectuals, and the general public. China’s historical anxieties about its technology and regime security needs are conducive to the rise of a security discourse in China’s AI politics, a trend also fuelled by tensions arising from great power competition. Although helpful in convincing domestic actors, this securitization trend could undermine Chinese key AI objectives by heading in an inward-looking, techno-nationalistic direction that may be seriously detrimental to China’s AI industry and leadership ambitions.

The prominence of e-commerce in international trade is escalating, marking it as a pivotal sector in China's foreign trade evolution. Cross-border e-commerce (CBEC) China is advancing towards a phase of high-quality development. Nonetheless, the advent of the post-pandemic era and the tendencies towards reverse globalization pose significant challenges to the industry's adaptive capabilities and its sustained growth trajectory. This study employs SWOT-PEST analysis to dissect the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats facing the industry, against the backdrop of its current status and the overarching macroeconomic environment influencing CBEC China landscape. The analysis reveals that CBEC China benefits politically from an evolving policy and regulatory framework, economically from robust market demand, socially from an increasingly mature cross-border logistics infrastructure, and technologically from advancements in supply chain technologies. Conversely, it faces political challenges from international legal constraints, economic limitations due to inefficiencies hindering economies of scale, a social gap in industry-specific talent, and technological setbacks in international payment settlements. Opportunistically, the "Belt and Road" initiative catalyzes policy-driven economic incentives, digital economy growth presents economic prospects, and the initiative's urban development potential alongside new information technologies offers social and technological advancements respectively. However, threats manifest in the form of anti-globalization sentiments, product homogenization, consumer skepticism towards transaction success, and financial risks exacerbated by currency fluctuation. Through a comprehensive industry analysis, this paper delineates a strategic direction for the future development of CBEC China, aiming to bolster the country's international trade growth.

This study investigates the prevalent issue of trademark infringement within China's burgeoning cross-border e-commerce sector, examining its forms, underlying causes, and proposing targeted prevention strategies. Amidst the sector's rapid expansion and its critical role in global market integration, trademark infringement emerges as a significant challenge, jeopardizing business integrity and economic growth. Through comparative analysis of international and domestic legal frameworks, alongside a review of infringement cases, this research delineates the primary infringement modalities—trademark squatting and counterfeiting. It emphasizes the need for a multi-faceted approach involving legal reforms, enhanced judicial protection, and proactive risk prevention measures. The findings underscore the critical importance of adapting China's intellectual property laws to the dynamic global e-commerce landscape and fostering a robust trademark protection ecosystem to safeguard and stimulate the country's economic globalization ambitions.

In the realm of international trade, cross-border e-commerce has infused fresh vitality into the traditional foreign trade. Through the deepening of international cooperation in "Silk Road E-commerce," Chinese cross-border e-commerce is actively forging into emerging overseas markets. In contrast to regions such as Europe and the United States, Africa presents a less saturated cross-border e-commerce market, offering a vast "blue ocean" of opportunities. Within the context of the cordial relationship between China and Africa, this paper reflects on the past decade of China's cross-border e-commerce development in Africa and employs PEST analysis to investigate the political, economic, social, and technological factors influencing China's cross-border e-commerce in Africa. Speculatively, this analysis suggests that China's cross-border e-commerce to Africa will continue its growth trajectory. This paper will elucidate the internal strengths and weaknesses of China's cross-border e-commerce through SWOT analysis, forecast the opportunities and threats present within the external African environment, and proceed with TOWS cross analysis and regression validation analysis to generate corresponding strategic recommendations. These recommendations aim to provide specific and concise operational measures for the relevant government departments and cross-border e-commerce industry to navigate the African market successfully.

By analyzing the applications of artificial intelligence in areas such as gene editing, drug development, and bioinformatics, it demonstrates the potential of artificial intelligence in the field of life sciences. At the same time, this paper also points out the ethical, technical, social, and various challenges that the application of artificial intelligence technology in the field of life sciences faces, with the aim of providing reference for research in related fields.

AI Applications in Health Sector: Use of Artificial Intelligence in Covid-19 Crisis and Impacts of Medical Robots on Global Economy

This study evaluates the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications in power systems on energy security and to determine relevant policy implications. We use a mixed methods approach to analyze the benefits and risks associated with AI implementation on the European power grid, focusing on four key dimensions of energy security: availability, affordability, accessibility, and acceptability. We investigated the benefits of AI using PyPSA, a Python-based model of the European electricity system. Three AI applications were parametrized: load reduction, load shifting, and wind wake steering. We compared scenarios in which these AI applications are widely deployed against a baseline scenario without these applications to determine if AI improves energy security. The study also analyzes risks associated with AI deployment in the power grid. We developed a risk taxonomy centered around six high-level categories: cybersecurity, jurisdictional or sovereignty issues, unexplained or unexpected actions by the model, unethical or illegal decision-making, reliance and trust in decision-making, and supplier dependency and vendor lock-in. Additionally, we conducted a back-casting exercise with subject-matter experts to determine positive and negative future outcomes of AI deployment and identify actions to create positive outcomes and avoid negative ones. The paper presents a set of policy implications for AI on the European synchronous grid. We find that AI applications can improve energy security in power systems. In the scenarios we tested, behind-the-meter applications have a greater impact on energy security than front-of-meter applications. The results suggest that AI applications targeting energy consumption may significantly improve energy security metrics. Keywords: Energy Security, AI, Power Grid, European Electricity System
