The Correlation between Students’ Learning Motivation and Their Listening Comprehension

This study aims to determine the correlation among students’ learning styles, learning motivation, and the eleventh grade students’ speaking ability at MAN 1 Musi Banyuasin Sekayu. The research was conducted correlation research design. This study’s population comprised eleventh grade students of MAN 1 Musi Banyusin Sekayu, sampling through a purposive sampling of 30 students. Data collection techniques used include questionnaire and test. Based on the study results the data showed that (1) there is not any significant correlation between learning styles and speaking ability with a correlation value of 0,590; (2) there is not any significant correlation between learning motivation and speaking ability with a correlation value of 0.706; (3) there is not any significant correlation between learning styles and learning motivation with a correlation value of 0,233; (4) there is not any significant correlation among learning styles, learning motivation and speaking ability with correlation value 0,838.

Language exposure and learning motivation are two of the most essential aspects in learning any language. In English language acquisition, the development of these two components facilitates the development of other language skills, such as reading comprehension. In turn, reading comprehension is one of the significant indicators of fluency in second or foreign language acquisition. If a correlation can be determined between either language exposure or learning motivation and the development of reading comprehension, educators and specialists can focus their efforts on increasing these predictor variables in curriculum development to further reading comprehension and, ultimately, fluency. This study focused on the reading comprehension of senior high school students in Palembang, Indonesia and sought to find out whether or not there was any significant correlation between students’ English language exposure and reading comprehension, students’ learning motivation and reading comprehension, and among the predictor variables (English language exposure, learning motivation) and the criterion variable (reading comprehension). The samples of this study were 210 eleventh graders in SMA Unggulan, a high-performing senior high school in Palembang. The data were analyzed by using correlational and regression analyses. The findings showed significant positive correlations among English language exposure, learning motivation, and reading comprehension. The contribution of English language exposure to reading comprehension was 41.8%, while the contribution of learning motivation to reading comprehension was 51.7%. Moreover, the contribution of predictor variables to the criterion variable was 58.9%.

The study aimed to find out the influence of Quizizz as a learning media towards student learning motivation in English learning among tenth grade students at MAN 1 Surakarta during the 2023/2024 academic year. A quantitative method was used with a One Group PretestPosttest design, with 26 students selected through random sampling method. Data was collected through pre-test, post-test, and questionnaire. The researcher used a paired sample t-test formula and SPSS 16 application to analyze the data. The results showed a significant influence of Quizizz on student motivation in English learning. The t-test resulted in a tcount value of 37,787, which was greater than the ttable at a 5% significance level of 2,060. Therefore, the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. The study highlights the importance of using Quizizz as a learning media for English learning among tenth grade students. Keywords: Quizizz, Learning Media, Learning Motivation, Learning English.

The purpose of this study was to determine students' learning motivation in mathematics learning in senior high schools. This study uses a quantitative method because the data processed is ratio data, and the focus of this study is to analyze students' learning motivation towards mathematics lessons at SMA Idhata Banjarmasin. The population in this study were students of SMA Idhata Banjarmasin. The sample used was class XI. The research instrument used a questionnaire containing statements with the aim of seeing students' learning motivation in mathematics subjects. Descriptive data analysis techniques to determine students' learning motivation from the results of the questionnaire data. The results of the study based on the Guttman scale showed that out of 24 students in class XI of SMA Idhata Banjarmasin, there were 22 students who had a "high" level of mathematics learning motivation, and 2 others had a "quite high" level of mathematics learning motivation. Thus, the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. The conclusion of this study is that there is student learning motivation with a fairly high and high level towards mathematics learning at SMA Idhata Banjarmasin.

The research objective is to determined the relationship between academic procrastination with self-regulated learning and learning motivation in high school students. The research was carried out through a quantitative approach with a correlation design. The populations of this study were students of class XI at Senior High School Bojonegoro. The research sample used was class XI students at Senior High School 1 Kedungadem, Senior High School 1 Kepohbaru and Senior High School 1 Sugihwaras as many as 257 students taken through simple random sampling technique. Research data were collected through self-report techniques with academic procrastination scale, self-regulated learning scale and learning motivation scale. The three scales have been tested for validity and respectively have reliability coefficients of 0.917, 0.865, and 0.951. Data analysis was carried out through statistical methods using multiple correlation formulas. The results of analysis prove that there is a significant relationship between academic procrastination with self-regulated learning and learning motivation with a significance score. The results of this study can be used by guidance and counseling teachers as study material to deal with academic procrastination problems that occur among students.

This study investigated the correlation among personality types, learning styles and writing ability to the eleventh grade students at Senior High School Number 1 Sekayu. The aims of this study were to measure the correlation between personality types and writing ability, the correlation between learning styles and writing ability, the correlation between personality types and learning styles, and the correlation among personality types, learning styles, and writing ability. In this study, the writer used purposive technique sampling. The data were collected by using questionnaire and test. The data were analyzed by using r-product moment and multiple regressions. The findings of this study are: 1. There was not any significant correlation between personality types and writing ability of the eleventh grade students at Senior High at Senior High School 1 Sekayu. 2. There was not any significant correlation between learning styles and writing ability of the eleventh grade students at Senior High School 1 Sekayu. 3. There was significant correlation between learning styles and writing ability of the eleventh grade students at at Senior High School 1 Sekayu. 4. There were not any significant correlations among personality types, learning styles, and writing ability of the eleventh grade students at Senior High School Number 1 Sekayu. It could be concluded that personality types and learning styles were not correlated significantly with students’ writing ability.

This research explores the impact of social media on learning motivation among eleventh-grade students at SMA PUSRI Palembang. The data was taken by involving 84 students as samples. The data was using a Social Media Questionnaire and Students’ Learning Motivation. By comparing the characteristics of social media questionnaire responses and students' learning motivation, the study aimed to determine the relationship between social media usage and learning motivation. Correlation analysis revealed a robust positive association between students' learning motivation and their use of social media for English learning. The correlation coefficient (r-value) of 0.925 exceeded the critical threshold (r_table) of 0.212, signifying statistical significance. It indicates a substantial link between social media as an English learning tool (X) and students' learning motivation (Y). Furthermore, the regression analysis demonstrated the significant impact of social media on students' motivation to learn. The significance level (alpha) was less than 0.05, and the t-value of 22.016 exceeded the required t-table value of 1.663. In summary, social media has significantly enhanced students' motivation to learn English at SMA PUSRI Palembang.

The application of Quick Response (QR) code as teaching media has become growing favored. Previous studies demonstrated that it can improve the student’s motivation in learning. Hence, this research aims to find and demonstrate the correlation between using Quick Response (QR) Code as assisted language media and student's motivation in English online learning. The type of this research is quantitative research with a descriptive correlational design. The research population is the 5th semester students of English Language Education Department UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya. The sample used is 30 students with techniques Random Sampling. The data have been collected by using questionnaire consisting of 12 questions on using Quick Response (QR) Code as assisted language learning and 12 questions on students' motivation in English online learning. After gaining the data, the data were analyzed by using Pearson Product Moment on SPSS software version 25. Correlation coefficient obtained in this study was 0.807 with a significance level of 0.00 (p <0.05). It can be concluded that there is a positive and significant correlation between using Quick Response (QR) Code as assisted language media and students' motivation in English online learning.

The background of the problem based on an initial study conducted by a fifth grade mathematics teacher at MIS Nurul Hikmah Ujung Padang said that the students' mathematics learning outcomes were quite good as seen from the student learning outcomes listed in the students' final reports. From the perspective of learning theory that affects learning outcomes including interest and motivation, in this case there are still students who are lazy in doing homework (PR). Quantitative research is research using a quantitative research design aimed at capturing quantitative data in the form of numerical data using a validated instrument that reflects the dimensions and indicators of the variable and is distributed to a particular population or sample. Based on the method, this study uses the correlational method, which is a study to determine the relationship and level of relationship between two or more variables without any attempt to influence these variables so that there is no variable manipulation. This approach is used to describe the relationship between interest in learning mathematics and motivation to learn mathematics with students' mathematics learning outcomes in class V MIS Nurul Hikmah Ujung Padang. Based on the results of research in this journal, the following conclusions can be drawn: There is a relationship between interest in learning and learning outcomes in mathematics. This can be seen based on data analysis using product moment correlation, obtained a price of 0.436> 0.329. With a significance value of 0.000 <0.05, it means that there is a significant relationship between learning interest and mathematics learning outcomes for fifth grade students at MIS Nurul Hikmah Ujung Padang. There is a relationship between learning motivation and mathematics learning outcomes. This can be seen based on the calculations performed using the product moment, namely (0.486> 0.329). With a significance value of 0.008 < 0.005, it means that there is a significant relationship between learning motivation and mathematics learning outcomes for fifth grade students at MIS Nurul Hikmah Ujung Padang. There is a significant relationship between interest in learning and learning motivation with learning outcomes in mathematics.

This study aims to improve students' learning motivation through the use of the GeoGebra learning application in overcoming challenges related to student interest in mathematics learning, particularly at SDN 074 Ayudia, Bandung City, with a population of all students and a sample of 31 students from class VA. This study uses a quantitative research method with an explanatory research approach. The sampling technique used is probability sampling with simple random sampling, while the instruments used are questionnaires and tests. The data analysis requirements testing includes normality testing using Kolmogorov-Smirnov and linearity testing, with the hypothesis tested through correlation and regression analysis using SPSS version 26. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the GeoGebra application has a significant effect on students' mathematics learning motivation. The correlation analysis shows a very strong relationship between the two variables, with a correlation coefficient of 0.826, indicating that the use of the GeoGebra application can increase students' motivation in learning mathematics. This study also found that the GeoGebra application contributes 68.3% to the variation in students' learning motivation, showing that this technology has a significant impact on motivating students. This study implies that the GeoGebra application can be an effective learning tool to enhance students' motivation in mathematics learning.

The Free Fire online game, which is very popular with students lately, has become a controversial thing in the realm of education. Because online games are considered to have a significant impact, both positive and negative. This is shown by data in the field found at SD 3 Undaan Lor, there are 4 grade V students who like to play Free Fire online games, from the activities of playing Free Fire online games that are carried out affect their learning motivation. The purpose of this study is to analyze the impact of Free Fire online games on students' learning motivation. This type of research is qualitative with a case study method. This research will be carried out at SD 3 Undaan Lor with the research subjects, namely 4 grade V students and grade V homeroom teachers. The results of the study found that students who play Free Fire online games have an impact on their learning motivation, the positive impact is to increase student learning motivation, increase students' concentration and focus in learning, interest in learning English and IPAS, and make new friends. Negative impacts cause decreased learning motivation, lazy learning, lack of focus, learning time imbalance, economic and student health disorders. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the impact caused by playing Free Fire online games is in the form of positive and negative impacts. It is expected for students to understand and be able to sort out the impact caused by playing online games on learning motivation. The purpose of this study was to (1) determine a significant relationship between learning discipline and learning motivation with student achievement at SMP Negeri 2 Kaloran, Temanggung Regency, (2) find out a significant relationship between learning discipline and student achievement if learning motivation is controlled, (3) find out a significant relationship between learning motivation and student achievement if discipline is controlled. The background is that the learning discipline and learning motivation of students at SMP Negeri 2 Kaloran, Temanggung Regency is less than optimal. The research method used is correlational quantitative. The research sample was 116 students who were taken by simple random sampling. Collecting data using a questionnaire(questionnaire) to determine the discipline of learning and student motivation. The results showed (1) there was a significant relationship in the formation of student achievement at SMP Negeri 2 Kaloran, Temanggung Regency through learning discipline andlearning motivation. This is indicated by the value of sig. 0.00 < 0.05, (2) there is a significant relationship between learning discipline and student achievement at SMP Negeri 2 Kaloran, Temanggung Regency if learning motivation is controlled, indicated by a correlation coefficient of 0.417 with a variable contribution of 66.38% being in very high criteria, (3) there is a significant relationship between learning motivation and student achievement at SMP Negeri 2 Kaloran, Temanggung Regency if learning discipline is controlled, indicated by a correlation coefficient of 0.689 with a variable contribution of 35.34% being in high criteria.

The problem in this research is the low of student economic learning Outcomes.This study aims to determine the influence of socio economics of parents and student achievement, intereset to learning motivation with student achievement and determine the influence of teacher creativity and learning motivation with student achievement X SMA Negeri 1 Arse school Year2017/2018.This research was conducted in senior high school 1 Arse in Simangambat street, North Tapanuli. There is all of the class X numbered 112 students as population in this research. The sample in this study using 56 people. Instrument that used to collecting data is questionnaire with using likert scale that firstly tested the validity and reliability of the questionnaire before conducting research. The analysis used in this research is testing variable partially performed by t test while testing for both variables togetger with F test.Based on the analysis and discussion of this study concluded that (1) There is a positive significant influence between socio economics of parents and student achievement with tcount (4,407) > ttable ( 2,004). (2) There is apositive significant influence between learning motivation with tcount (4,962) > ttable (2,004). (3) There is a significant influence between socio economics of parent and learning motivation together with Fcount> Ftable namely ( 97,108 > 3,17).Based on the analysis, the conclusions from this study is there a positive and significant influence between teacher creativity and learning motivation with student achievement in class X SMA Negeri 1 Arse and hipotesis in this research can accepted

This research aims to identify the effect of family environment and the internet usage as learning source simultanly or partially on economics learning motivation. Population was Senior High School 5 students (IIS/Social Program) Semarang. 192 students were analyzed as sample. Data collecting method used questionnaire. While data analyzing used descriptive and double equal regression analysis. From the descriptive analysis, it was found that the learning motivation is high (62%), good family environment (61%), good internet usage as learning source (67%). Findings show that family environment and the internet usage as learning source simultanly give positive effect and significant to motivation in learning economics by 39.8%. Partially, family environment gives positive effect and significant to economics learning motivation by 17.2%, the internet usage as learning source gives positive effect and significant to economics learning motivation by 8.6%. It can be concluded that family environment and the internet usage as learning usage give positive effect and significant to economics learning motivation at Senior High School 5 Semarang simultanly and partially. Hence, it is suggested that family environment should be kept in good condition, the internet usage as learning media should be provided more optimal, family hopefully always keeps condusive, calm, comfortable and enjoyable condition, and the last, students should improve the intensity of accessing economics information through the internet.

The learning model is one of the critical factors in boosting student to have good learning motivation (LM) and cognitive competencies (CC). In two academic years (2016-2017), only 19.6% of Senior High School (SHS) students in Samarinda passed minimal competence in Biology subject. This research was conducted to find out a better learning model in Biology subject to replace the conventional learning (CL) model. A quasi-experiment using three learning models, i.e. Problem Posing (PP), Problem-based Learning (PBL), and CL, were conducted in all three 11th grade student classes at Public Islamic SHS (PISHS) I Samarinda in the period of odd semester of 2018/2019 academic year. The LM and CC data were collected by questionnaires, each has 40 and 9 problems, respectively. The LM and CC data were analyzed by ANOVA and ANCOVA continued by comparison test using Bonferroni test (p< 0.05), respectively. The results showed that the CL model could increase the CC, but not improve LM. However, PP and PBL model were significantly more effective (p< 0.05) in increasing both the CC and LM. The PP is superior in improving the LM, while the PBL is superior in gaining the cognitive competence.
