The importance of tourism development and its impact on the global economy

Abstract:The world social environment is made up of many systems. One of those is the economic system. When each nation was younger, with less ability to transport between nations, they could fashion their economies to accommodate the needs of the internal national population without much regard or risk from the economies of other nations. Now as we move into another century, the world is much more interrelated. The economy of each nation is influenced by the economies of others, especially trading partners. When the economy of any nation is not sound or is built on a weak foundation, it puts a larger segment of the world population at risk. This paper provides a means of examining the world and national economies from the perspective of a system. As a system, each economy is subject to systems engineering and optimization just as any other system. It is up to the economist to identify the elements that are most critical to the success of the world economic system and to provide a methodology by which each nation can evaluate its economic structure and to develop an economic system which will optimize the domestic economy and enhance the economy of the larger world system. As an optimized system, the economies of the nations will consume fewer resources and achieve greater gain from the resources consumed, thus permitting the populations to achieve higher standards of living.

Based on the theory of the cyclical nature of capitalist reproduction in its various (including modern) variations, the author of the article defends the thesis that the pandemic of the new coronavirus was not the root cause of the crisis in the world economy in 2020, but only a factor of its approach in time. Excessive, in the spirit of modern radical liberalism, marketization (commercialization) of country health systems and the desire of a number of nation states to use a large-scale epidemic as a powerful bioengineering weapon are classified as the most significant direct determinants of the global coronacrisis. The mechanism of the influence of the coronavirus epidemic on the state of the world economy is revealed. An attempt is made to compare the coronavirus crisis and the global financial and economic crisis of 2008–2009 with an assessment of the change in the balance of forces between the leading powers in the course of the deployment of these crises. As a «visiting card», the specifics of the current global crisis is characterized by a negative combination of supply shock and demand shock, which radically complicates the construction of an adequate system of anti-crisis regulation of the world and national economies. The place of coronacrisis shocks in the mechanism of the deepening of the Russian autonomous recession is revealed. The effectiveness of the anti-crisis activities of the Government and the Bank of Russia is constructively and critically assessed.

In current modern age of worldwide processes of globalization and globalism a process of desovereigntization of national state and economy has become a general process. Therefore national state has been faced with numerous challenges and it has been in a permanent state of crisis. Within the process of globalization most often rich enclaves of national states make attempts to integrate themselves into neoliberal capitalist system, while poor and backward enclaves become abandoned and so national states become disintegrated. First of all it is necessary to search for causes of ethno-religious conflicts and a national separatism in the field of economy. Within the globalization environment it happened that old entities, national state, national economy and national security gained totally new meanings. By using a method of comparative analysis of document contents and consitutional and political practice alike it is possible to reach conclusion that a great number of modern national states, including the Republic of Serbia among them, have found themselves in the state of permanent crisis, and the state crisis implies, before anything else, the crisis of state sovereignty. The state gets destroyed both from inside and outside in different ways. By using a quality method it is confirmed that within a state there comes an overstepping of constitutional regulations which encompass, before else, the issues of national economy and national security, and it is achieved in particular by seizure of economic sovereignty.

Immigrant workers are as crucial to the world and national economies as they are socially and politically controversial. This provocative book explores the rise of the global working class in the 19th & 20th centuries by examining the experiences of a wide range of immigrant workers in the US, Europe, Asia and Africa. Are immigrant workers more conservative or radical than native-born workers? Under what circumstances do workers act together and when do they fail to co-operate? These are just two of the questions addressed in this important collection of essays.

Purpose Protectionist measures and trade restrictions have far-reaching consequences on the world economy. The increasing popularity of economic nationalism is creating challenges to attain sustainable development goals (SDGs) and their indicators. Therefore, the study aims to investigate the consequences of economic nationalism on the SDGs in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development framework. Design/methodology/approach The research administered a mixed-methods approach to integrate quantitative analysis and qualitative insights. The research deepens the complex interaction between economic nationalism and sustainable development. Findings The study’s findings identified the direct effects of economic nationalism on various SDGs, including poverty eradication, gender equality, industry and innovation, environmental sustainability, and global partnerships. The research found that low-income countries are the most suffering due to the protectionism policies of the world. The study also noticed the role of far-right political outfits in promoting economic nationalism. Research limitations/implications This study contributes to the ongoing dialogue on how economic nationalism can be aligned with the 2030 Agenda, facilitating the realization of the SDGs and a more sustainable future for all. Practical implications The outcomes of this research provide valuable insights for policymakers, enabling them to navigate the complexities of economic nationalism and its effects on sustainable development. Originality/value The insights of the study offer interconnectedness between economic nationalism and sustainable development, taking into consideration the complexity and potential trade-offs.

Research background: The world economy is currently affected by the devastating effects of the global COVID 19 pandemic, reaching the Great Depression of the 1930s. The economic policies of the affected countries are currently focused on short-term measures on the aggregate demand side. To this end, the growth of the public finance deficit is being prepared in the area of fiscal policy, which will ultimately deepen the indebtedness of national economies. If this economic policy is to be sustainable in the long term, measures on the aggregate demand side must be accompanied by measures on the aggregate supply side. Purpose of the article: The purpose of this article is to determine how the current globalization processes affecting the supply and demand sides of selected national economies will be affected in the short and long term as a result of the global COVID 19 pandemic. Methods: A description of the AS - AD model will be performed, covering both short and long periods, and then a description of the impact of globalization processes on aggregate supply and aggregate demand. This will be followed by an analysis of the expected economic and social impacts of COVID 19 on individual globalization processes affecting the supply and demand sides of selected national economies and economic units. Findings & Value added: The article will help to find a systemic approach to the recovery of national economies affected by the effects of the global pandemic COVID 19 through the prism of the AS - AD model.

The article examines the place of war in the cyclical dynamics of the global economy on the basis of scientific works By M. Kondratieva, J. Holdstein. The phases of development of the world economy, depending on the time period of deployment (expansion, war, stagnation, revival), and chronology of military peak in deployment of long military cycles in deployment of long military cycles and chronology of high waves of kondratyevsky cycles are presented. In the midst of the financial expansion phase of each system cycle of accumulation, a conflict between the big states is taking place. It has been found that the tendency of localization in the world is spreading in recent years. According to experts from the Center for New Economy and Society, 4 scenarios of comprehensive economic globalization were outlined: 1) «Globalization 5.0: Renewal of communication» (combination of processes of real (physical material) and virtual integration in the world economy); 2) «Analogueue networks: Virtual nationalism» (fragmentation of the Internet); 3) «Digital domination: Flexible platforms» (virtual integration); 4) «World of autarky: System fragmentation» (double fragmented world). Despite their number, a realistic future world economy will combine global cooperation and the economy of nationalism in real and digital dimensions. New strategic orientations of states will be formed mainly on their economic and digital compatibility and on the convergence of their values. The article presents some manifestations of convergence-divergence processes in the global economy of Ukraine and the EU. Over the next ten years, Ukraine will receive about $750 billion in financial assistance from its partners. The total amount of US $ 15 million, which will be directed at the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the country in the range of national programs in different sectors of economy and social life. The article lists the procedures of Ukraine’s interaction with EU countries on intensification of factors of counteracting divergent tendencies in European integration processes: Balancing the provisions of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU in terms of protection of national interests of signatories; post-war reconstructive revival of the national economy; development and implementation of pro-convergence state policy of Ukraine; the principal evil of destructive institutions (corruption and shadow economy); reduction of risks of macro-financial destabilization and weakening.

Micro-enterprises and small and medium-sized enterprises are the engine of the Polish economy. They are the main source of employment, arouse entrepreneurial spirit and innova¬tion, and they are essential to increase competitiveness and employment. The aim of this article is to analyze selected data, among others. the level of remuneration and employment in microen¬terprises in Poland and the comparison of wages in micro-entities with average remuneration in the national economy, in the EU and in the USA in 2014-2016. The purpose of the work was sub¬ordinated to the individual parts, in which the essence of the micro enterprise and its importance to the economy were presented, and data on the number of micro-entities, their salaries and their level of employment were presented against the background of selected years.

Education plays an essential role in the national economy and is responsible for the formation of qualified and competent human resources that will act in the labour market as a labour force. At the same time, in the conditions of rapid acceleration of socio-cultural and scientific-technical changes, the updating of knowledge and acquired competencies becomes compulsory today. Therefore, there is an unconditional connection between the sphere of socio-labour relations and the field of education. Despite this, today in Ukraine there is an imbalance between these areas, which are oversaturation of the labour market by some professionals (including economic and legal), and lack of others (including labour professions), labour migration, the dissatisfaction of employers with the level of knowledge of graduates, etc. It requires the modernization of the existing situation and the coordination at the state level of the areas of interaction between socio-labour relations and education sector. In this regard, this article is devoted to the justification of the impact of state regulation of education on the development of socio-labour relations in the national economy, which will be carried out by combining the method of principal components and logit modelling in the software STATA 11. To identify the integrated level characterizing the state of socio-labour relations in the national economy of Ukraine, numerous absolute and relative indicators were analyzed, including unemployment and employment levels, labour productivity, wage arrears and its average level, etc. The results obtained suggest an improvement in the socio-labour relations in Ukraine in recent years. Logit modelling allows confirming, as well as comprehensively and individually, the impact of macroeconomic, demographic, migration parameters, and a set of performance characteristics of the education sector on the level of harmonization and convergence of processes in labour markets and educational services. It helps to define the priorities of state intervention in the field of state regulation of education. The set calculations form the basis of further research of authors in the field of the specified problems. Keywords state regulation of education, socio-labour relations, national economy, labour market, binary logit modelling.

International tourism is one of the most dynamically developing forms of international trade. In the economy of a particular country, it performs a number of important functions: it is a source of foreign exchange earnings and a means of providing employment for the population; contributes to the balance of payments; contributes to the diversification of the economy, providing stimulating effects on industries serving the tourism sector; increases the attractiveness of the country as a sphere of international entrepreneurship and business cooperation; creates incentives for the inflow of foreign capital into the national economy.
The main feature of international tourism is the crossing of state borders. The greater the differences between states, the greater the obstacles to the free movement of people. The simplification (tightening) of formalities has an impact on international tourist flows, providing (or, conversely, hindering) the movement of people. The complex and confusing procedure for issuing travel documents, violation of the deadlines for their consideration or arbitrary deviation, the introduction of severe restrictions on imports and currency exchanges, which determine the level of consumption of goods and services by tourists, do not contribute to the development of international tourism. From this point of view, customs declarations and inspections act as a deterrent and lead to a reduction in tourist trips.
Another feature of international tourism is economic in nature and is revealed through the impact it has on the country's balance of payments. Foreign tourists, paying for goods and services, ensure the flow of currency into the budget of the host country, thereby activating its balance of payments, which is why the reception of foreign tourists is called active tourism. On the other hand, the departure of tourists abroad is associated with an outflow of currency from their country of permanent residence. International payments for tourism operations of this kind are reflected in the liability of the balance of payments of the country supplying tourists, and tourism itself is characterized as passive. The division into active and passive, based on the characteristics of the reflection of the financial results of tourism activities in the balance of payments, is inherent only in international tourism and does not apply to domestic tourism. Keywords: Tourism, World Tourism Organization, Recreation, Visitor, Statistics, World Politics, World Economy

This chapter reviews and analyzes the effects of rising labor costs, CNY appreciation, and the 2008 Global Financial Crisis on the performance of Chinese SMEs. Chinese SMEs have spearheaded the integration of the Chinese economy with the world economy through their involvement and partnership with the Asian regional and global production networks and supply chains. While they have acted as important linkages for the national economy with the world economy, they have also become important conduits of the impact of world events on the national economy. This chapter focuses on the impact of the 2008 Global Financial Crisis against the background of rising labor costs and currency appreciation that had already been exerting great strains on SMEs in China.

Transaction links through cities: ‘decision cities’ and ‘service cities’ in outsourcing by leading Brazilian firms

Background/Objective: The purpose of the study is to analyze the impact of illegal immigration on the national and regional labor markets as a national security indicator in the social and labor sphere. Methods: The economicmathematical and statistical methods were used to achieve the objectives of the study. The official statistical data in the field of labor and employment in the Russian Federation over the past five years served as empirical base of the research. With the help of statistical methods analytical indicators were designed, which allowed identifying the main trends in the labor market. Findings: Exogenous factors of national security become a priority in the economic aspect of Russia’s security, since it is the level of economic development of the country that largely determines the degree of its protection from external and internal threats. In this paper the author analyzes the factors affecting national security and focuses on illegal migration as a phenomenon actively involved in the social, economic and legal spheres. The impact of illegal migration on the national and regional labor markets viewed as an indicator of national security in the social and labor spheres has been studied. The use of outsourced manpower (studied in relation to its professional qualifications, distribution in Russia and industry labor markets) has been treated as a potential source of social and ethnic conflicts. Based on the empirical data the research provided quantitative and qualitative description of the real threats posed by illegal immigration, formed in the country in recent years, both in the economic and social sphere. Application/ Improvements: The interested executive bodies may use these results to develop management solutions aimed at more efficient management of migration processes and reduction of illegal immigrants, eliminating unnecessary administrative barriers for the mostly needed professionals.
