The Use of Computer Graphics in Interactive Media Design, a Research

The learning process in the digital era cannot be separated from information technology. Various kinds of applications are offered, ranging from paid to free. This study aims to describe the design of interactive learning media by utilizing a free application, namely Lectora Inspire. This application serves to make it easier for users to create interactive learning media designs. In addition, the Lectora Inspire application can assist teachers in the learning process with attractive and interactive media designs. Appropriate interactive learning media design can produce effectiveness in the learning process. In this case, this research is motivated by the use of learning media used in schools that are not fully interactive and are not in accordance with making good learning designs. For this reason, this study aims to design good interactive learning media by following the proper learning media design rules. The research method used in this research is research and development (R&D) with the ADDIE model namely analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Research on the development of the ADDIE model is limited to the early stages, namely Analysis and Design. From the results of the design of interactive learning media using the lectora inspire application developed by researchers, it is hoped that it will be useful for students and teachers at school so that students can master learning independently and have fun.

This study aims to design an interactive learning media with Multimedia-based for English Course in the Graphic Technologies study program and test the feasibility. This Interactive Media will encourage students' learning independence, especially in answering the limitations of lectures to learn English independently and intensively wherever they are. The research was carried out at Politeknik Negeri Media Kreatif Medan. The interactive media is developed for English courses for the Graphic technology Study Program students of semester 2 in the 2020/2021 academic year. The study applies the R & D (Research and Development) method by developing educational products of interactive multimedia-based stored on DVDs for English language courses and testing the effectiveness of these products. The data in a learning series is recorded in DVD media with settings based on the syllabus and an outline of English learning following Graphic Technology. The media is validated by some experts in graphic technology, learning media and computer programming, scored as 4.38, or it is classified as good. After validated, the interactive learning media with Multimedia-based is tested to suitable responses to the students; it is shown as the questionnaire reaches 4.37 or categorized as so good or very positive. This paper explores potentials of interactive media technology, public spaces, and interactive media art and design as potential drivers for behavioral changes and social innovations within future Smart City ecosystems. Design for Behavior Change as an approach is already accepted in several key areas such as ecology, safety, health, and well-being as well as widely adopted in social design. In this paper two interactive installations created by Predrag K. Nikolic, InnerBody and Before & Beyond, are used to explore the possibilities of employing interactive media art and design in the conceptualization of public spaces and the way it can affect and provoke user behavioral changes. Mostly considering importance of increasing user’s consciousness related to sustainable community development.

This paper discusses the application and advantages of artificial intelligence technology in digital media interactive product design. Firstly, the development background of artificial intelligence technology and its promoting effect on design innovation is introduced, and the application of new technologies, such as generative adversarial networks in art creation and design personalization, is definitely analyzed. It then explores in detail the ability of AI to break traditional constraints in interactive design, innovate design, and optimize user experience, especially in digital media. Finally, the case study of Microsoft Cortana shows the method of classifying and processing user queries by machine learning system and its experimental results. The research of this paper provides the theoretical basis and empirical support for the application of artificial intelligence technology in the future interactive design of digital media and has important academic and practical significance.

This study discusses the design and development of interactive Android-based learning media for the quantity surveying course for students in the field of building engineering education. Today's technological advancements necessitate innovation in educational media so that learning can be adapted to digital advancements and made more engaging in order for students to independently study the topic and comprehend the instructional medium. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the validity and practicality of interactive learning media based on Android in the quantitative surveying course. The DDD-E development model is used in this project's research and development (R&D) approach. Three experts validated the product, and 58 building engineering education students who did the surveying quantity course during the semester of January–June 2023 practiced their skills. According to the evaluation of interactive learning media based on Android that was done, the findings of the evaluation by material specialists were reached at 0.88 with a high validity category. The assessment of media experts obtained a score of 0.8 in the high validity category. The practicality assessment received a score of 0.80 in the high practicality category. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the interactive learning media in the surveying quantity course made with the DDD-E research model can be said to be valid and practical with high categories and can be used in learning.

With the development of computer network technology and computer graphics processing technology, computer graphics processing technology based on GIS models has received more and more attention from professionals in the field of graphic image design. This paper studies the construction of visual data mining model, combined with the specific requirements of packaging design, and the rational use of computer graphics technology, is conducive to enhancing the rationality of packaging design. Based on this, this article builds a GIS model to process two-dimensional and three-dimensional graphics, and discusses the relationship between computer graphics technology and packaging design as necessary to provide the necessary reference for related research

In this paper we documented the pre-production design process of HIV Game, an interactive serious game with cultural and sociotechnological implications for youths living in the Yucatan. Students at Purdue University's IDeaLaboratory are researching, designing, and developing the Flash animation game, which will be delivered via the Internet in Cyber Cafes set up in four third-world villages in the Yucatan. The design process combines knowledge and measures from user-centered design, serious play theory, sociotechnology, cultural implications, interactive media design, gaming, usability engineering, healthcare, and cognitive learning. While no single area is new, it is a novel approach to understanding and developing new ways of using interactive media to measure and change healthcare behavior of the Mayans and Mexicans living with HIV/AIDS in the Yucatan, and to prevent future spreading of the disease. The demographic research on the Mayan culture and the perceptions of technology survey that was implemented summer 2008 by Dr. La Verne Abe Harris, was used for the foundation of the pre-production design of HIV Game.

As young people design interactive media, they go through an iterative process of imagining, creating, playing, sharing, and reflecting. In this chapter, we describe how this iterative design process is ideally supported by having access to other people. We illustrate this through case studies of young people using the Scratch programming environment to create their own interactive media with support from the Scratch online community.

Safari Central, an augmented reality app that seeks to ‘rewild’ (or reconnect) wildlife with people, lets users take photographs with six virtual animals that are based on real-life animals. I argue that these representations of animals are an example of petishizationPetishism includes overidentifying with an animal, an emphasis on dominance over animals and over-representing of certain traits of animals. I trace these qualities of petishism across three other popular forms of interactive media that have the same goal of facilitating care (Tamagotchi, Pokémon and Zoo Tycoon) to discuss the ways in which Safari Central replicates earlier designs. I argue that to better facilitate care between people and animals, designers of interactive media should consider alternate conceptions of care and use Julie theory of performance ethics. Performance ethics understands animals’ performances as communicative transactions and positions humans as listeners. I conclude by proposing alternate designs that incorporate performance ethics and alternate conceptions of care into interactive media.

Development of a reservoir simulation model involves collection and analysis of an enormous amount of reservoir and well data for initial input. Computer graphics is the most effective tool for geologists and engineers to visualize, verify, and analyze the input data. After each simulation run, simulation engineers then have to depend heavily on computer graphics to analyze an even more intimidating amount of simulation results data. This is especially true at Saudi Aramco because of the large simulation models used to simulate the world's largest hydrocarbon reservoirs. Saudi Aramco's EXPEC Computer Center supports a wide spectrum of computer graphics applications to aid the exploration and engineering staffs through the entire cycle of reservoir characterization. The graphics applications help during the pre-simulation model data analysis as well as in the post-simulation results analysis. Larger and more accurate simulation models are currently being developed In Saudi Aramco. Computer technology (both software and hardware) needs to advance continually such that computer graphics can be utilized as an effective and efficient engineering tool by reservoir simulation professionals. This paper addresses Saudi Aramco's experience in dealing with very large simulation models and using computer graphics as an engineering tool. The program efficiency, device dependence, and data management problems will be discussed. The computer speed, data storage and access methods, data transmission speed, and graphics devices will also be detailed.

We review the recent application of computer graphics to problems in the history and interpretation of master artworks. Carefully constructed computer graphics models of tableaus in paintings allow scholars to explore what if scenarios concerning lighting, geometry, placement of subjects, physical properties (such as color and reflectance characteristics), and more. A special application of computer graphics is to dewarp images depicted in spherical mirrors, such as appear in works from the northern Renaissance, thus revealing new views into artists' studios. We present a number of methodological recommendations to help ensure the results of such studies are valid. We describe some successes of these new techniques and conclude by discussing several outstanding problems and future directions for the use of computer graphics in the analysis of realist art.

The purpose of this research is the validity of interactive powerpoint media for fourth grade elementary school. This research method uses development research with the ADDIE development model. This research was conducted in three stages, namely 1) the analysis stage consisted of educator analysis, student analysis and learning materials; 2) the design stage, namely the design of interactive powerpoint learning media using the powerpoint application; 3) the development stage, namely the process of making the design a reality. The results of this study indicate that interactive powerpoint media meet the very valid criteria. In learning 1 obtained an average result of 70.91% with a valid category which was declared suitable for use with revisions, then the researchers made several improvements so that in the second validation obtained a value of 90% with a very valid category, the interactive powerpoint learning media was feasible to use for learning process. In learning 4, the first validation value was obtained at 70.69% with a valid category and was declared suitable for use with revisions. Then the researchers made improvements according to the validator's suggestions so that in the second validation the average value was 92.11% with a very valid category level. Then the interactive powerpoint learning media in learning 4 is feasible to use for the learning process. So it can be concluded that the two learning media are feasible to use without revision with the category of validity reaching a very valid level by conducting a validation test twice.

The problem found in fourth grade is that the learning process tends to only use the lecture method so that students are not motivated to learn because it tends to be boring. In addition, the use of learning media is not optimal. This development research has objectives, namely to: (1) describe the design of PBL-based interactive learning video media, (2) find out the acceptability of PBL-based interactive learning video media, (3) find out the effectiveness of the application of PBL-based interactive learning video media used to increase IPAS learning motivation of grade IV elementary school students. This development research uses the ADDIE model, there are five stages, namely: (1) analysis, (2) design, (3) development, (4) implementation, and (5) evaluation. Data collection method with document study and questionnaire. The instrument used to collect data is a questionnaire guideline. The effectiveness of the model was tested through an experiment involving control and experimental groups, where pre-tests and post-tests were used to measure differences in student learning motivation before and after the application of learning media. The results showed that: (1) this study has succeeded in producing PBL-based interactive learning video media that ensures a more interactive and engaging learning experience, particularly suited for fostering problem-solving skills in science education of grade IV elementary school students. (2) media acceptability validation index of 0.944 with very high predicate / qualification; (3) the significance value (2-tailed) in the correlated t-test shows a number of <0.001, smaller than 0.05 (significance level of 5%). In conclusion PBL-based interactive learning video media is effectively used to increase IPAS learning motivation of grade IV elementary school students.

This paper proposes a narrative-oriented approach in media architecture design, which encourages people to get involved and interact due to the scenario rendering characteristics of the space. In the context of current digital media technologies, this paper begins by reviewing the postmodernism architects' vision of architecture as signs and systems which represent its characteristics. One question that is raised is: Within the limits of technologies, to what extent, can we integrate narratives in media architecture to fabricate a comprehensive user experience, through which the building's characteristics are better represented and the branding message better delivered? This paper then, endeavors to find answers and solutions to this challenge within three case studies of ongoing media architecture projects, in which the narrative methodologies are integrated with interactive digital media design.

One of the natural disasters that currently occurs frequently in Indonesia is earthquakes. An earthquake is a situation where the earth shakes due to volcanic activity, or collisions due to the movement of the earth's plates. Earthquake activity causes many problems. One of them is liquefaction. Liquefaction is an event that shows a loss of soil shear strength caused by an increase in pore water pressure. This occurs because the earthquake load occurred so quickly and briefly. Liquefaction is a description of the effects of an earthquake so that the soil layer loses its strength. Not many people know the process of earth movement which is the precursor to earthquakes. Especially people who have hearing limitations. For this reason, education is needed to be conveyed to the public. Educational techniques in virtual form will be a special attraction for people, especially deaf people. Augmented Reality (AR) technology is a technology where virtual objects and real objects are combined. In this research, an application was produced in the form of learning media that utilizes Augmented Reality (AR) technology with the Marker Based Tracking method. To make learning media more interactive, the technology was developed using the MDLC (Multimedia Development Life Cycle) method. The results of the tests carried out concluded that the application could be used as an interactive learning medium to increase knowledge about the occurrence of earthquakes and the effects of liquefaction for the community
