This paper investigates the problem of adaptive disturbance rejection for a class of nonholonomic systems with unknown control coefficients which signs are known. A new dynamic high gain and new Lyapunov function are constructed, which successfully deals with the unknowns/uncertainties of the unknown control coefficients and the input-output polynomial growth rate. Inspired by related works on output feedback control of nonlinear systems, a new disturbance rejection controller is designed by backstepping techniques, high gain techniques, and an extended state observer. By appropriately selecting the design and auxiliary parameters, this controller ensures that both the original system state and their corresponding observer state converge to zero, while the estimation of the non-vanishing external disturbances converges to the actual values. In the simulation section, a numerical example and a bilinear mobile robot case are given to verify the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.
