Translating and validating the gay affirmative practice scale for nurses in mainland China.

Objective To examine the reliability and validity of Chinese Military Job Burnout Scale(CMJBS).MethodsA test with CMJBS was carried out on 1 292 armymen chosen by stratified cluster sampling,and 130 of them were also tested by Chinese Military Occupational Stress Scale(CMOSS).SPSS17.0and Amos7.0were used to examine the reliability and validity of CMJBS.Results The Cronbach'sαcoefficient of total scale of CMJBS was 0.844,and those of subscales of CMJBS were0.683-0.800(P0.01);the split-half reliability of total scale was 0.834,and those of the subscales were 0.575-0.758(P0.01).The correlation coefficients between factors and total scale score were 0.655-0.809(P0.01);the correlation coefficients between total scale score of CMJBS and CMOSS was 0.538(P0.01).The results of exploratory factor analysis showed that the scale of the entries in the collation and factors named were consistent.The results of confirmatory factor analysis showed a higher degree of accordance between the sample data and the hypothesized structure of factors,with theχ2statistic being 1 465.447 and RMSEA(root mean square error of approximation)being 0.060,and with TLI(Tucker-Lewis index),CFI(comparative fit index),IFI(incremental fit index)and GFI(goodness of fit index)being 0.949,0.895,0.915,and 0.893,respectively.Conclusion The reliability and validity of CMJBS meet standards for scale designing and can serve as a tool for measuring the job burnout of Chinese armymen.

Objective: The study was conducted to test the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the “Pediatric Sleep Practices Questionnaire,” which was developed to evaluate the presence of factors that encourage or interfere with sleep. Methods: The sample of the study consisted of 320 children aged 8-17 years who had a physical disease for at least 7 days in the hospital and were treated. “Sociodemographic Characteristics Form” and “Pediatric Sleep Practices Questionnaire” were used to collect the research data. Results: The factor load values of the scale items range from 0.579 to 0.915. Fix index values were found as X2/SD 1.63, goodness of fit index 0.97, adjusted goodness of fit index 0.95, comparative fit index 0.91, root mean square error of approximation 0.061, root mean square residual 0.054, parsimony goodness fit index 0.52, and parsimony normed fit index 0.52. The scale consists of 9 items and 3 factors. Total Cronbach’s α coefficient of the scale was found as 0.694. Conclusions: “Pediatric Sleep Practices Questionnaire” is a valid and reliable scale. This scale can be used in both clinical and research settings to evaluate the pres- ence of factors that encourage or interfere with sleep. Cite this article as: Sarıalioğlu A, Gülbetekin E, Köse S. This study examines how innovation capacity influences market performance among small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the UAE and offers both theoretical and practical contributions. Data from 133 SMEs were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling to assess the effects of five innovation dimensions, namely knowledge management, creativity, collaboration (COL), leadership, and organizational learning (OL), on quick response (QR), product differentiation (PDIF), and market share. The results show that OL and COL play central roles in strengthening SMEs’ ability to respond quickly to customer and market requirements, as well as supporting greater PDIF. Practically, the findings assist SMEs in leveraging innovation capabilities to enhance competitiveness and sustain growth in dynamic market environments. The analysis proceeded in three stages. First, correlation analysis explored relationships among the five innovation capacity dimensions and the three performance indicators. Second, the relationships between QR, PDIF, and overall market performance were examined. Third, the influence of the innovation capacity dimensions on the performance variables was tested. Model fit was evaluated using maximum likelihood estimates and standard fit indices (Chi-square, Goodness-of-Fit Index, Adjusted GFI, Normed Fit Index, Relative Fit Index, Incremental Fit Index, Tucker–Lewis Index, Comparative Fit Index, and the Root Mean Square Error of Approximation). The model results confirm the adequacy of the proposed framework.

The Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) has been widely used to screen depression symptoms. The present research aimed to assess the reliability and validity of PHQ-9, besides measurement invariance of the PHQ-9 across gender and age among Chinese university students. A total of 12,957 Chinese college students from 2 universities in Henan and Hainan provinces (China) completed the questionnaires via WeChat. This research reported the psychometric properties of PHQ-9 and measurement invariance of the PHQ-9 across gender and age among Chinese university students. Compared with 1-factor model, the 2-factor (affective factor and somatic factor) model of PHQ-9 showed a better fit index in Chinese university students. Without the last 2 items, the 2-factor model of the PHQ-9 showed satisfactory reliability, validity, and good fit index (e.g., Root mean square error of approximation = 0.060, Goodness-of-fit index = 0.982, Comparative fit index = 0.986, and Tucker-Lewis index = 0.974). The Cronbach's alpha of PHQ-9 was 0.874. Multi-group analysis across gender and age demonstrated that measurement equivalency for the 2-factor model of the PHQ-9 was established (e.g., Root mean square error of approximation < 0.08, Comparative fit index > 0.90 and Tucker-Lewis index > 0.90). The 2-factor model of the PHQ-9 without the items of "movement" and "desire to die" showed a better fit index in Chinese university students. The measurement equivalence across gender and age for the 2-factor model of the PHQ-9 can be established among Chinese university students.

BackgroundNurses bear a lot of stressors at work. The 10-item Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10) is a widely used self-reported scale for measuring the global perception of stress. However, there is a lack of use of the PSS-10 in Chinese nurses. This study aimed to test the psychometric properties of the PSS-10 among Chinese nurses.MethodsA total of 708 Chinese nurses completed the PSS-10, the Big Five Inventory (BFI), and the Depression Anxiety and Stress Scale (DASS). Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) tested the factor structure of the PSS-10. Cronbach’s α and test-retest correlation examined the scale reliability. Pearson correlation and hierarchical regression analyses tested the convergent, discriminant and criterion validity of the PSS-10.ResultsCFA revealed that a two-factor model fits the structure of the PSS-10 in Chinese nurses (χ2/df = 6.25, p < 0.001; comparative fit index [CFI] = 0.94, non-normal fit index [NNFI] = 0.92, Tucker-Lewis index [TLI] = 0.91, root mean square error of approximation [RMSEA] = 0.08, standardized root mean square residual [SRMR] = 0.05). The scale demonstrated adequate internal consistency (α = 0.86) and test-retest reliability (r = 0.66, p < 0.001), satisfactory convergent and discriminant validity with relations to Big Five personalities, as well as good criterion validity such that the PSS-10 score could explain incremental variance in predicting anxiety, depression and stress.ConclusionsOur findings suggest that PSS-10 is a reliable and valid measure of perceived stress among Chinese nurses and can be used in future research and practice on stress management and coping in Chinese nurses.

The purpose of this article is to adapt and validate the short form of the Posttraumatic Growth Inventory (PTGI-SF) in Spanish. The scale consists of 10 items distributed in 5 posttraumatic growth dimensions measured in the original instrument. The psychometric properties and dimensionality of the scale are examined in a sample of college students (N = 681). Results lend support to the validity and reliability (α = .83) of the PTGI-SF. The dimensions of PTGI-SF show correlations ranging between .29 and .52. In addition, the inventory correlates significantly with deliberate rumination (r = .39) and the search for meaning in life (r = .32). The factor loadings of the items in the confirmatory factor analysis varied between .52 and .87, showing good fit indexes (comparative fit index = .97, Tucker-Lewis index = .93, relative fit index = .90, incremental fit index = .97, normed fit index = .96, and root mean square error of approximation = .05). Multi-group confirmatory factor analysis supported invariance of the PTGI-SF across the 2 groups. Finally, significantly higher PTGI-SF scores were observed in subjects who were actively looking for meaning in life, or had found it after a seeking process, than in subjects who had not looked for meaning in life or had given up because they had not been successful.

Aim: The main purpose of this study is to conduct a structural, and criterion-related validity study of the Short Beck Depression Inventory and to make it available for use by healthcare professionals and individuals conducting research in the field. Method: Designed as a cross-sectional scale adaptation study, this research utilized the 21-item Beck Depression Inventory, the Short Beck Depression Inventory, and the Self-Compassion Scale. Data of the study were collected through Google Forms using extensions transmitted via email and WhatsApp. Results: The mean age of the 178 participants was 21.09±2.12. The statistical findings in the confirmatory factor analysis of the Short Beck Depression Inventory, the X2/DF (23.68/13); the ratio was found to be 1.82, Root Mean Square Error of Approximation: 0.068, Standardized Root Mean Square Residual: 0.046, Root Mean Square Residual: 0.027, Normed Fit Index: 0.95, Non-Normed Fit Index: 0.97, Comparative Fit Index: 0.98, Incremental Fit Index: 0.98, Relative Fit Index: 0.93, and Goodness of Fit Index: 0.96. In the criterion-related validity study, a relationship was observed between the Short Beck Depression Inventory and the Beck Depression Inventory and between the Self-Compassion Scale. Conclusion: Upon examining the outcomes of the inventory's confirmatory factor analysis, it was found that all fit indices were within the excellent fit range. The Turkish adaptation of the Short Beck Depression Inventory was concluded to be a highly valid and reliable scale that can be used in clinical settings and research in the adult Turkish population. Background. Sport players during competition face different types of stressors. The coping ability of sport players towards stress is considered one of the major factors in determining the level of function or performance in any performance (Lopes Dos Santos et al., 2020). The objective was to translate and validate the Athletic Coping Skills Inventory on women sport players in Pakistan. The lack of English language skills held by sport players has been highlighted quite often which raised the need for translation of measuring tools. Method. This study had two phases. In the first phase, the scale was translated according to guidelines provided by Gudmundsson (2009). In the second step, data collection, from 302 women sport players, was done by using the snowball purposive sampling technique. Women sport players playing at international, national, university, club, and college levels with at least one year of experience were included in this study. Results. The factor structure confirmed 26 items of the scale with seven subscales. Results confirmed an adequate model fit indices as Root Mean Square Error of Approximation = .04, Comparative Fit Index = .92, Tucker-Lewis Index = .90, and Incremental Fit Index = .92. The results indicated the Cronbach’s alpha reliability of .86. Conclusion. Thus, it was concluded that the Athletic Coping Skills Inventory is a reliable scale for measuring the coping skills of sport players in Pakistan. It may prove helpful in designing interventions in various fields related to sport for athletes. Moreover, it will help the inclusion of such athletes in research who lack command of the English language.

This study aims to validate the suitability of the Inventory of Depressive Symptomatology Self-Report (IDS-SR) for evaluating mood disorders in older adults with subjective cognitive decline (SCD) and mild cognitive impairment (MCI). A total of 1670 participants aged ≥ 50 years were included (531 males; mean age 65.79 ± 7.39 years). Construct validity of the IDS-SR was evaluated using exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). Criterion validity was examined using Pearson correlation analyses between IDS-SR scores and scores on the Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD) and the Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA). Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was conducted to determine the ability of the IDS-SR and its subscales to distinguish mood disorders in SCD and MCI. Cronbach's α and the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) were employed to assess the reliability of the scale. The EFA demonstrated that the major factors explained 47.722% of the total variance. The CFA confirmed a three-factor model of the IDS-SR and indicated good construct validity. The fit indices were as follows: chi-square/degree of freedom (χ2/df) = 3.316, root mean square error of approximation (RMSEA) = 0.054, goodness of fit index (GFI) = 0.945, adjusted goodness-of-fit index (AGFI) = 0.928, comparative fit index (CFI) = 0.921, incremental fit index (IFI) = 0.922, and Tucker-Lewis index (TLI) = 0.908. The total Cronbach's α was 0.839. The ICC for the total scale was 0.952. The IDS-SR scale is a reliable and valid screening tool for detecting mood disorders in older adults with SCD and MCI. This study provides the first validation of the scale in this population.

The Test of Gross Motor Development–3rd Edition (TGMD-3) is an instrument for measuring gross motor development in children with and without a disability. This study aims to evaluate the psychometric properties of the Persian version of the TGMD-3 in 3- to 10-year-old Iranian children. The TGMD-3 was administered to 1,600 children (M age = 6.56 ± 2.29 years; 50% boys). The content validity of the TGMD-3 was established by five experts while its reliability was assessed through calculating internal consistency, test–retest, intra-rater, and inter-rater reliability coefficients. All reliability indices were excellent (&gt;.82). The two-factor model was validated using confirmatory factor analysis. Adequate fit indices were found for the two-factor model (χ2 (64) = 389.02, p &lt; .05, root mean square error of approximation (RMSEA) = .056, goodnesss of fit index (GFI) = .96, adjusted goodness of fit index (AGFI) = .94, normed fit index (NFI) = .96, non-normed fit index (NNFI) = .96, comparative fit index (CFI) = .96, incremental fit index (IFI) = .96, standardized root mean square residual (SRMR) = .03). An alternative one-factor model was also tested. Adequate fit indices in a one-factor model were found (χ2 (65) = 615.88, p = .0001, RMSEA = .07, GFI = .94, AGFI = .92, NFI = .98, NNFI = .98, CFI = .98, IFI = .98, SRMR = .03). The psychometric properties of the Persian version of TGMD-3 in Iranian children were supported and users can confidently use this test to evaluate gross motor development in Iranian children.

ABSTRACTNonnormality of data presents unique challenges for researchers who wish to carry out structural equation modeling. The subsequent SPSS syntax program computes bootstrap-adjusted fit indices (comparative fit index, Tucker–Lewis index, incremental fit index, and root mean square error of approximation) that adjust for nonnormality, along with the Bollen–Stine bootstrap-adjusted χ2 equivalent statistic and associated scaling factor.

This study was designed to test validity and reliability of Academic Motivation Scale (AMS) for sports high school students. The research conducted with 357 volunteered girls (n=117) and boys (n=240). Confirmatory factor analysis showed that Chi square (χ2), degrees of freedom (df) and χ2/df ratio were 1102.90, 341 and 3.234, respectively. Goodness of Fit Index, Comparative Fit Index, Non-normed Fit Index and Incremental Fit Index were between 0.92-0.95. Additionally, Adjusted Goodness of Fit Index, An Average Errors Square Root and Root Mean Square Error of Approximation were 0.88, 0.070 and 0.079, respectively. Subscale reliability coefficients were between 0.77 and 0.86. Test-retest correlations of AMS were found between 0.79 and 0.91. Results showed that scale was suitable for determination of sports high school students’ academicals motivation levels.

BackgroundSince the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic, vaccines have been developed to tackle the disease. However, many people worldwide were not confident enough to take the vaccines. Developing a questionnaire to measure COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy will give the health authorities and policymakers a clear picture to establish appropriate interventions addressing vaccine hesitancy among the community. MethodsIn this study, we used a mixed-method design over two phases. Phase 1 entailed a qualitative approach to developing the questionnaire, including a literature search, expert panel review, and focus group discussion. Phase 2 used a quantitative method for establishing the content and construct validity of the questionnaire via exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis (EFA & CFA). Internal consistency was checked using Cronbach's Alpha and intraclass correlation coefficient. ResultsWe developed a 50-item instrument designed to measure COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy among adults in the state of Qatar. The study involved 545 adult participants. In terms of content validity, our study showed a value of 0.92 for the scale-level content validity index based on the average and a value of 0.76 for the scale-level content validity index - universal agreement. In the EFA, the Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin measure of sampling adequacy was calculated at 0.78, with statistical significance (P = 0.001). Regarding model fit indices of the seven-factor model, our findings showed an acceptable model-data-fit, with a relative chi-square: 1.7 (<3), Root mean square error of approximation: 0.05 (<0.08), PCLOSE = 0.41, Comparative fit index: 0.909, Tucker-Lewis index: 0.902, Incremental Fit Index: 0.910 and, Standardized Root mean square residual: 0.067 (<0.08). The seven-factor model of the questionnaire met the criterion of good internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha = 0.73). ConclusionThis tool is deemed of methodological merits in terms of validity, reliability, and determining the underlying conceptual structure of COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy and its associating factors.

Healthcare workers (HCWs) play an essential role in facilitating coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination, and their confidence in vaccination is crucial. Nevertheless, valid instruments for assessing the HCWs' perceptions of COVID-19 vaccination were lacking. This study aims to develop and validate the COVID-19 Vaccination Perceptions (CoVaP) instrument among HCWs in Malaysia. A literature review and discussion with research teams were conducted to identify the content to be considered. The instrument was developed in Malay language and underwent back-to-back translations to the English version. The initial CoVaP instrument was unidimensional with 12 items. The Malay and English versions underwent a content validation process by seven expert panels. However, only the Malay version underwent face and construct validation. Face validity was assessed using 30 HCWs. The construct validation was conducted in a two-step process using data from two cross-sectional study samples, including 125 and 300 HCWs for exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), respectively. It was a self-administered questionnaire, and the data were collected using both face-to-face and online platforms. The data were analysed using Analysis of Moment Structure version 28.0 and Statistical Packages for the Social Sciences version 26. The analysis showed excellent content (item content validity index (I-CVI) = 0.83 to 1.0, average content validity index (S-CVI/Ave) = 0.97) and face (item face validity index (I-FVI) = 0.87 to 1.0, average face validity index (S-FVI/Ave) = 1.02) validity. The EFA analysis revealed seven items with two domains. Subsequent analysis using CFA demonstrated a two-factor model of seven items with an acceptable level of goodness of fit indexes (comparative fit index = 0.999, Tucker-Lewis index = 0.999, incremental fit index = 0.987, chi-squared/degree of freedom = 1.039, and root mean square error of approximation = 0.011). Finally, the Cronbach's alpha was satisfactory for both domains (0.899 and 0.815). The CoVaP instrument is a valid and reliable tool for measuring perceptions of COVID-19 vaccination among HCWs. The high validity and reliability of the CoVaP instrument underscore its utility in capturing the unique cultural and contextual factors influencing vaccine perceptions among Malaysian HCWs. Understanding these factors is essential for designing effective public health interventions to address vaccine hesitancy and improve vaccination rates.

This study aimed to translate and validate the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of the Philippines Sunlight Exposure Questionnaire. A total of 392 Chinese individuals aged at least 18 years, residing in various cities in Sichuan province for at least 1 year, were recruited. The reliability of the Chinese version of the questionnaire was measured through internal consistency, split-half reliability, and retest reliability, while validity was determined using the content validity index and the structure validity index. The Chinese version of the Sunlight Exposure Questionnaire, which includes 19 items covering 5 factors, demonstrated McDonald's omega coefficient of 0.788. The split-half reliability of the questionnaire was 0.823, and the retest reliability was 0.940. The content validity index (S-CVI) was 0.952. The five-factor structure, supported by eigenvalues, explained 66.2% of the total variance. Confirmatory factor analysis indicated favorable model fit. The chi-square value degrees of freedom ratio (χ2/df) = 1.852, the goodness-of-fit index (GFI) = 0.938, the normed fit index (NFI) = 0.922, the incremental fit index (IFI) = 0.962, the comparative fit index (CFI) = 0.962, the Tucker-Lewis index (TLI) = 0.952, and root mean square error of approximation (RMSEA) = 0.047. The indicators of the fit of the model were within reasonable bounds. The Chinese version of the Sunlight Exposure Questionnaire shows validity and good reliability for assessing sun exposure among adults in a Chinese cultural context.
