Understanding modern telecommunications and the information superhighway

This research addresses the limited exploration of hybrid processes for customer co-created new product development (NPD) involving cross-functional teams. While existing studies often focus on individual elements like hybrid NPD processes, customer co-creation, or cross-functional teams, this study combines all three. This research develops a unique design-oriented framework tailored for the Swiss media industry. It employs the design science research (DSR) process and a multi-phase qualitative research design, encompassing the five largest Swiss media companies. Data was collected through three interview phases of ten interviews, with five Swiss media companies embedded within. An inductive-deductive approach guided the data analysis along the DSR process, culminating in the development of a design-oriented framework of this study. This study has four key findings. Firstly, customer co-creation is not widely used in the Swiss media industry due to misunderstandings and perceived obstacles such as resource constraints. Secondly, agile methods in product development often deviate from theoretical ideals, especially when implementing scrum. Thirdly, product managers are central to product development, but there is a lack of clarity regarding the distinction between product managers and product owners. Fourthly, the Swiss media industry is lacking a structured process for crucial NPD elements: overarching structure, technology, and quality control. This research contributes to theory in three ways. First, it develops a design-oriented framework for hybrid NPD structures, merging application lifecycle management with design thinking, user-centred design, stage-gate processes, lean start-up methodologies, and scrum. Second, it explores customer co-creation barriers, highlighting the interplay of motivation and collaboration, the importance of dedicated communication management, and context-specific social media limitations. Third, it outlines cross-functional roles and structures across the entire NPD process, offering a broadly applicable framework for NPD of digital products.

Three-dimensional (3D) technologies such as 3D digital prototyping have recently been used in apparel engineering to reduce the number of costly physical prototypes. This technology can simulate garment drapes by digitally sewing 2D patterns and placing them on a 3D avatar. Yet, current limitations in simulation accuracy mean physical prototypes are still indispensable. Integrating AI technologies shows promise in accelerating digital transformation in the apparel industry. AI can support decision-making in apparel design, size and fit prediction, and fashion recommendations. It can also assist decision-making in technical design by predicting garment fit before making physical prototypes or offering solutions for misfit areas. Research indicates that models such as Naive Bayes (NB), Support Vector Machine (SVM), and Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) offer robust solutions for fit evaluation. However, they require further testing across diverse garment styles and demographics. Developing a nuanced classification system for fit conditions could improve model accuracy, ultimately supporting the industry's shift towards digital and AI-enhanced product development. In this study, we propose a framework to achieve such a system.

The introduction of elements of the concept of digital production is especially important in enterprises manufacturing electronic products that are in demand in all spheres of human activity. To create new objects representing the digital production concept, it is necessary to introduce technological innovations in the production of electronics. This is achieved by solving actual analyzing problems system properties means of production and ensuring product quality. Therefore, the article purpose is to ensure the quality of electronic products based on models and methods for analyzing the means and processes of electronic production. To achieve the goal, the digital production development in a structural framework, functional and informational description are considered. The results of the simulation stages of the production life cycle allowed us to estimate the achieved product quality level while improving the subsystems of automatic installation of printed circuit boards.

Digitalization in financial services, in another way financial technology or FinTech, has drastically extended financial intermediation while customers are experiencing and engaging with the development of new digital products and competencies. Nevertheless, over two billion people worldwide remain out of accessing financial services that make financial inclusion an equally important concern for all economies, including Bangladesh. Over the last few years, a good number of academic literature has been made on FinTech covering how essential it is to serve the unbanked and underbanked countries. This study tries to provide an inclusive survey of relevant literature on FinTech and its potential to disruptive financial intermediation globally and nationally. Therefore, a descriptive research design has been adopted entirely based on secondary resources and mostly relying on the Global Findex database, International Monetary Fund (IMF) releases, and Bangladesh Bank reports. It has been evident that digital financial inclusion is connecting more and more people to the financial system at a growing pace resulting in substantial welfare benefits throughout the nation. Even if the active use of mobile money systems, digital banking, especially internet banking, is reshaping our bank. However, there is much work to be done compassing the challenges and the threats of FinTech as important policy issues for the existing financial landscape. In conclusion, this study provides an insight into the country's digital financial system and contributes to further study in relevant disciplines.

Currently, the development and application of information and communication technologies (ICT) has a special impact on the processes of disruption and transformation in organizations. Many companies are investing significant resources in the development of new digital products and services that are increasingly being adopted by consumers. This dynamic, favoured by the Web 2.0 environment, is key in the processes that allow the acquisition and transfer of knowledge in organisations. Thus, certain knowledge management (KM) processes can foster innovation and performance.

The outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic has caused a huge impact on the global economy. Great changes have taken place in people’s consumption patterns. In order to explore the changes of people’s consumption concept in the post epidemic era, and the impact of these changes on digital products, this paper analyzes the changes of consumption concept from different life scenes such as life, work, learning, entertainment. Then, the article summarizes the development trend of digital products in the post epidemic era. Finally, the key points of future digital product design are put forward.

The article analyzes the existing legal mechanisms for managing critical information infrastructure in Ukraine. The instruments for their improvement are proposing in this article. An important component of critical infrastructure is its information component – a critical information infrastructure. The sphere of protection of critical information infrastructure in Ukraine is at the initial stage of formation. The current legislation defines only certain objects of socio-economic sphere, in which extraordinary events can lead to socially dangerous consequences. In view of the fact, that the term “critical information infrastructure” does not having a consistent interpretation in different countries, we propose our opinion. “Critical information infrastructure is a system of information management of critical facilities and information and communication networks that provide defense capabilities and security of public and private institutions, whose operation may flow to the national security of Ukraine” (KII). In the KII we can identified information and network components. Information environment of KII is a system for information management of critical objects, including computing and information resources that form automated control systems (ACS). The network component of KII consists of a set of telecommunication devices, communication lines and network equipment, systems of open protocols for the exchange of information between elecommunication devices, global system of digital addresses and digital identifiers, software. The Internet network can be considered as a technological add-on over a telecommunication network that provides the provision of data transmission and processing services (e-mail, teleconferencing, file transfer, access to computing and information systems in local area networks). The main threat to the safety of ACS of critical information infrastructure objects is targeted actions on information systems, information and telecommunication networks by software and hardware. KII legal security include two main components – national and international. The national component may be forming by a set of principles, legal institutions and norms, which are enshrined in the national legislation regulating public relations in Ukraine in the area of counteracting the security threats of the ACS of critical objects. In order to protect the most important objects of KII, it is necessary to identify these objects. The current legislation defines such categories of objects, for which special conditions for ensuring their protection and functioning are established. Some of them, in whole or in part, may be classifying as objects of critical infrastructure. The specificity of providing information security was reflecting in such Ukraine laws like “On the Fundamentals of National Security of Ukraine”, “On the Concept of the National Program of Informatization”, “On the National Program of Informatization”. As well as the Concept of Development of the Security and Defense Sector of Ukraine, the National Security Strategy of Ukraine, the Strategy of Cybersecurity Of Ukraine. The National Security Strategy identifies actual threats to national security and sets priorities for information security, cyber security and security of information resources and critical infrastructure. At the same time, the implementation of the state policy in the field of security of KII requires the further development of legal principles and norms governing the relevant social relations, that is, the national component of the legal security of KII. Ukraine should ensure the establishment of a nationwide system for assessing risks and threats to critical infrastructure, and after the legislative definition of the main terms, the implementation of the Identification of Critical Information Infrastructure objects. Identification of objects of critical information infrastructure can be accomplishing by introducing the certification of objects of critical information infrastructure. Such passports must contain general data about the facility, data on the main sources of danger, data on hazardous natural conditions, technological processes and response to threats. The international component of the legal security of KII provides for the regulation of a set of principles and norms defined by international treaties and recognized by the state, regulating issues of international cooperation in this area. Ukraine has signed the Convention on Cybercrime together with the member states of the Council of Europe and other States. It is aiming at stopping actions against the confidentiality, integrity and availability of computer systems, networks and computer data, as well as abusing such systems, networks and data by installing the criminal responsibility for such behavior, the provision of powers sufficient to combat criminal offenses, and the conclusion of agreements on rapid and reliable international cooperation. In addition, the plan of measures for 2017 on implementation of the Cybersecurity Strategy of Ukraine provides for the implementation of Directive 2008/114/EC on the protection of critical infrastructure, in particular on cybersecurity and cyber defense of critical infrastructure objects. Development of the system of international information security, the following main groups of international relations that requirenormative legal regulation within the framework of the legal security of KII: definition of the boundaries of the national KII in the global information and communication infrastructure and fixing signs of computer incidents in the control system of critical objects information infrastructure. The absence of generally recognized borders of state sovereignty of States in this space is a significant obstacle to the application of international law to the actions of other states. In particular, this impedes the establishment of limits of responsibility of states for violating the security of the KII and organizing international cooperation in the field of countering computer crime. The urgency of the legislative consolidation of signs of computer incidents in the automated control system of critical information infrastructure objects suggests the widespread use of the concept of “incident” in international law. An incident in cyberspace usually associated with a violation of the functioning of the components of cyberspace – an electronic collection environment and automated processing of information that determines the processes of the implementation of these operations, as well as information systems and automated control systems. The essence of the general definition of the “international incident” in the field of KII will be determining, firstly, by the nature of international relations between states that are violating by the “incident”. This event may be the result of unforeseen actions of the state, including actions that harm the interests of public bodies of one or more states, or, conversely, be one of many intentional but minor provocations carried out by agents of one state against another state. Given that international relations in the field of incidents in the field of KII are not regulating by international treaties, the main and, in fact, the only source of international law in this case serves as an international custom, however, its application to the sphere of KII is accompanying by considerable difficulties. For Ukraine, it is possible to introduce the positive experience of other states in the security of the KII. In particular, the problem of security of information technologies has been enshrined in the international standard ISO / IEC 15408 “General criteria for assessing the safety of information technology”.

Excessive software development is the tendency to develop new software above and beyond the requirements of the market and/or planned specifications. It is a widespread phenomenon involving both risks and flexibility advantages. As it represents a challenging dilemma for software developers, it is important to study its human origins. Drawing on the tripartite model of individual attitudes, this study investigates the influence of developers’s cognitive (intuitive and rational thinking styles), affective (emotional attachment) and behavioural (reliance on past experiences) traits on two forms of excess, beyond needs and beyond plans. Using survey data on 307 software developers, this study shows that different manifestations of excess are associated with distinct traits of software developers. Emotional attachment drives beyond needs excess. A positive (negative) association is found between relying on past experiences and beyond needs excess (beyond plans excess). An intuitive cognitive style fosters the inclusion of extra features in the new product scope, whereas a rational style might lead to developing one-size-fits-all software that targets the needs of a broad user base. These findings contribute to research on the development of digital new products and production technologies by offering a comprehensive yet fine-grained picture of excessive software development’s nature and drivers.

Nowadays, user experience (UX) emerges as essential in the design and development of digital products. The use of mobile versus other devices has led to a greater focus on the development of mobile applications focusing on the importance of an effective UX to ensure user satisfaction. This research explores the UX throughout the ideation and development process of mobile prototypes in the university context. This research provides insight into the impact of UX on the creation and ideation of mobile prototypes. Continuous feedback and iteration in the design process are key to fine-tune the interface as much as possible. User-centred methodologies, such as user experience design and user-centred design, offer a unique opportunity to engage students in hands-on projects that reflect real-world challenges. UX principles influence the design of mobile prototypes. The necessity to adopt a user-centred approach and integrate user feedback at all stages of the mobile app design process and development is emphasized to guarantee the creation of successful digital products.

Information professionals in a globalized world: Kosova libraries: Where practical steps are most needed

This article is devoted to the problems of development and implementation of digital production technologies at industrial enterprises. The structure of the technological processes and principal approaches to automation of production enterprises with various technological processes is considered. An analysis of the conditions of the change in the enterprises to multiproduct small-scale manufacturing is carried out. The problems of changing modern production enterprises to the Industry 4.0 concept are specified. The urgent problems are stated, solving of which is required to develop digital machine-building production in the Industry 4.0 concept. A definition of the digital production is proposed.

A/B testing plays an essential role in driving firms’ digital product innovation. However, it is astonishing that a majority of the firms around the world have not adopted A/B testing in their digital innovation process. Therefore, what factors can impact firms’ usage of A/B testing in their digital product development becomes an important question that merits a deep investigation. To address this issue, in this article, we leverage a technology–organization–environment framework to investigate the specific technological, organizational, and environmental factors that can facilitate or hinder firms’ usage of A/B testing. We also explore the mediation paths among these factors and the boundary conditions for these relationships. Based on our analyses of a sample of 555 firms in China, we find support for most of our hypotheses. Our study contributes to a growing literature on A/B testing and offers important implications for managers and policymakers in terms of how to advance firms’ usage of A/B testing.

Technological advancements, changes in consumer behavior, technological accessibility, social media, streaming services, and advancements in production technology have all led to exponential growth in digital audio and video production. With media convergence, the distinction between audio and video media becomes unclear. This makes multimedia content more flexible. However, changing business models,copyright issues, and content quality are also affected by this phenomenon. The development of digital audio and video production has experienced significant exponential growth, influenced by technologicaladvancements, changes in consumer behavior, technological accessibility, social media, streaming services, and advances in production technology. Media convergence has blurred the boundaries between audio and video media, creating flexibility in multimedia content. However, this phenomenon also has an impact on changing business models, content quality, and copyright issues. Copyright issues are taking center stage in the industry, especially with the rise of video sharing and streaming platforms. Copyright protection is a major challenge, and the law must constantly adapt to technological advances. The methodological approach carried out in this study is called literature research. The result of the discussion was that alternative business models such as subscribe, crowdfunding, and partnerships became strategies to address copyright issues. By studying media convergence, recommendation algorithms, copyright issues, business models, and user roles can help us to understand and control complex developments in digital audio and video production. To maintain the integrity of this industry, ethical guidelines and responses to technological trends must be created.
