Using React and Redux in Web Application Development: Problems and Prospects

The purpose of the article is to study and analyze various components of the Full Stack JavaScript concept and to consider common problems and prospects for developing a prototype educational web application based on it. The research methods are the main methodological approaches and technological tools for the development of intelligent learning systems with elements of gamification based on the use of an appropriate multi-level ontological model. These methods include, in particular: systemic and comparative analyses to identify the features of creating scalable and high-performance web applications; the method of expert evaluation, which involves analyzing literature and information resources, conducting interviews and surveys of experts, as well as the processes of developing and testing scalable and high-performance web applications. The scientific novelty of the research is the analysis of modern technologies for the development of online educational process support platforms, the results of which can be used in the preparation of their e-learning support software product, which is a user’s assistant in the process of studying the relevant educational content, and may even become an independent unit – an online course. Conclusions. The paper investigates the existing views on the modern approach to the development of high-performance websites using the main components of the Full Stack JavaScript concept: Node.js, Express and MongoDB. The strengths and weaknesses of well-known e-learning support platforms are analyzed. This analysis led to the choice of the Full Stack JavaScript concept for the development of modern web applications. We used technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for front-end development. For backend development, we used Node.js together with Express. The MongoDB database was used to store data (as documents). The proposed approach to developing a prototype of an educational web application has demonstrated the possibility of such an implementation of each component of Full Stack JavaScript when the web application provides minimalistic functions of an online learning platform, achieving the required level of both educational content and the level of competencies that users of the application can potentially obtain. The Full Stack JavaScript concept provides one of the best solutions for developing modern web applications, reducing the separation between frontend and backend and facilitating development flexibility. This allows you to create scalable and high-performance educational web applications using a single language. Considering the results of this analysis, a decision has been made to develop a prototype of an educational web application based on the Full Stack JavaScript concept that would provide minimalistic functions of an online learning platform.

Monitoring of financial activity is one of the key functions of enterprise management, because it, in particular, ensures control of current costs and income; contributes to the analysis of the financial state of the enterprise; supports planning of future financial flows. The purpose of the article is the research of information systems for monitoring the financial activity of enterprises, the identification of problems of financial activity, the analysis of the ways of using the appropriate software and the development of the system for monitoring the financial activity of enterprises. The research methods are the main methodological approaches and technological tools for the development of financial monitoring systems. Such methods, in particular, are: systematic and comparative analyzes – to identify the peculiarities of the creation of systems for monitoring the financial activity of enterprises; the method of expert assessments, which involves the analysis of literary sources and information resources, conducting interviews and surveys of experts, as well as the processes of development and testing of scalable and high-performance financial monitoring systems. The novelty of the research is the creation of a complex system for monitoring financial activity, which includes an intuitive interface, a flexible database and the ability to generate various reports, giving users the opportunity to effectively manage their financial data, simplifying the process of entering, editing and analyzing information through the use of a stack of modern technologies. The conclusion of the research carried out in the article is that the work was: identified the main problems of monitoring the financial activity of enterprises, which are solved with the help of modern financial monitoring systems; an analysis of existing software solutions was carried out; the advantages and disadvantages of the existing software for monitoring the financial activities of enterprises were analyzed; the main so-called «bottlenecks» of the automation of financial monitoring, which need to be solved, have been identified. On the basis of the conducted analysis, an author’s system for monitoring the company’s financial activity was developed, focused on ease of use and efficiency of financial data management. The development of the software of the author’s system included: the selection of the appropriate technological stack; system architecture development; implementation of basic functional modules (for example, such as transaction management, categories and reports); system database development; system interface development. The results of the conducted research open up new opportunities for improving financial management and making informed decisions based on the received data.

In the development and design of Web application, the choice of framework development is very important. A good framework development can speed up the development of Web application, reduce development costs and the workload of developers. Meanwhile, Web application has good expansibility and portability. The framework based on SpringMVC + Spring + Mybatis (SSM) has good performance and rapid development efficiency, gradually becoming a mainstream development framework of Web application.

End-users who are nonprogrammers create web applications by using advanced web development tools. However, these tools are not supported by any methodological process which produces that web applications are of low quality. This paper presents an approach to bring web engineering principles to the end-user community. We complement the web engineering method OOWS with tools that allow end-users to develop web applications by: (1) describing web applications in terms of the end-users’ knowledge about the application domain, (2) automatically obtaining a web application prototype by means of the OOWS code generation strategy, and (3) personalizing the web application look and feel by simply selecting a design template. To achieve this, an ontology-based strategy is introduced to support end-users throughout the web application development. We also introduce a strategy that allows us to define domain-independent presentation templates.

The article discusses technologies for developing the web application designed to accompany the process of conducting an intellectual game in the format of an interactive quiz. An analysis of similar applications was carried out, which showed that none of them satisfies all the criteria essential in this situation. Requirements for the web application have been determined: the ability to create a library of quizzes, various types of questions, edit ready-made quizzes, participants enter answers through their devices online, award points for the correctness and speed of answers, display questions on the presenter's screen and on team devices, view intermediate and final results in the form of a list, returning participants to the game if necessary, saving the points received. The process of developing an optimized user interface using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, which allows users to interact with the web application, is described, the structure of the web application, the main forms of the administrator and game participants are presented. The server side of the application was developed using Node.JS technologies, including the Socket.io library, and the MongoDB database, the resulting collection of non-relational database is shown. To implement the functionality of the application pages, JavaScript was used; examples of codes are presented that implement the mechanism for connecting the presenter to the game, retrieving information from the database, recording the team's response, and awarding points for the correctness and speed of the response. The web application allows you to reduce the time spent by event organizers and participants and makes it possible to improve the organization of work in general. The presented web application for accompanying intellectual games was successfully approbated during events at the Nizhny Tagil State Social-Pedagogical Institute (branch) of the Russian State Vocational Pedagogical University. The materials of the article can serve as practical recommendations for the development of such web applications to accompany intellectual games held in the format of interactive quizzes.

Parametric Web application cost estimation is referred to the usage of mathematical model to derive the estimated effort and duration of Web application development. Typically, majority of Web application developers are applying expert judgment and estimation by analogy in Web application development. This paper is focusing on feasibility study of WEBMO (Web model), a parametric Web application cost estimation model, in Web application development within Klang Valley in Malaysia. WEBCOMO, a parametric Web application tool is developed based on WEBMOpsilas methodology to fulfill the objective of the study.

In recent months the priority area of modern medicine has become on-line informatization and computerization. The most promising development has been the use of information and computer support in an integrated diagnostic system for patients with cleft lip and palate. In our research we aim to developed an autonomous web application that allows practitioners to determine the tactics of multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment based on data integrated into a specific web application in order to increase the efficiency of the treatment of children with cleft lip and palate of different age groups. Based on more than 45 years of clinical and scientific experience in diagnosis and treatment of patients with cleft lip and palate we developed a web application “ADI” (Application of Digital Imaging). The developed web application “ADI” is a system for processing, accumulating and analyzing information on the rehabilitation of patients with cleft lip and palate by type of pathology and age, allowing doctors to obtain structured information about the stages of the necessary methods of interdisciplinary cleft lip and palate diagnosis and treatment. One of the main advantages of “ADI” web application is the ability to quickly exchange information between specialists in various fields of knowledge. Such complex information is the basis for combining scientific ideas, analysis and exchange of experience of various specialists, thereby making it possible to create a unified system of interdisciplinary rehabilitation of children with congenital pathology of the maxillofacial region #COMESYSO1120.

Web Application Development has shown progressive and rapid growth using various techniques. Nonetheless, web application security is a major component in web development that is often overlooked or not properly focused on. Due to ad hoc existence and poor code written, most available web applications are vulnerable and desirable target for the attackers. To alleviate this issue, the use of defensive programming basic technique allows the developers to develop secure applications. Defensive programming includes validate output and correctly manages error messages. This avoids the misuse of snippets and builds the program in a consistent way despite unpredictable inputs. The purpose of this paper is twofold. Firstly, this paper discussed the development of a web application program using PHP as server-side scripting exploiting defensive programming techniques to overwhelm web application vulnerabilities. Secondly, this paper examined common vulnerabilities of web application risks refer to Open Web Application Security Project to validate the effectiveness of defensive programming technique. The work presented in this paper shall be a fundamental guideline for the development of secure web-based applications.

Web applications are not protected by today's network level firewalls, because they allow access to TCP port 80 without restrictions. However, many successful attacks today are not on the network level, but on application level. For protecting against application level attacks, a firewall must understand the application protocols, that are used on its open ports. This happens in application level firewalls and for Web application in Web application firewalls. The underlying concepts of Web application firewalls differ much from the concepts of traditional network level firewalls. This book explains the underlying concepts of Web application firewalls. Afterwards, they are applied to a collection of security requirements, that application developers should respect today for developing a secure Web application. A Web application firewall is capable of automatically implementing many of these requirements. As a result, Web application developers can ignore these requirements, because the Web applications firewall already ensures their implementation and therefore the security of the Web application. This book is intended for anyone, who is interested in securing his Web application.

Web application frameworks are a proven means to accelerate the development of interactive web applications. However, implementing collaborative real-time applications like Google Docs requires specific concurrency control services (i.e. document synchronization and conflict resolution) that are not included in prevalent general-purpose frameworks like jQuery or Knockout. Hence, developers have to get familiar with specific collaboration frameworks (e.g. ShareJS) which substantially increases the development effort. To ease the development of collaborative web applications, we propose a set of source code annotations representing a lightweight mechanism to introduce concurrency control services into mature web frameworks. Those annotations are interpreted at runtime by a dedicated collaboration engine to sync documents and resolve conflicts. We enhanced the general-purpose framework Knockout with a collaboration engine and conducted a developer study comparing our approach to a traditional concurrency control library. The evaluation results show that the effort to incorporate collaboration capabilities into a web application can be reduced by up to 40 percent using the annotation-based solution.

Web applications are evolving towards strong content-centred information systems accessible through the web. The development processes and implementation of these applications are unlike the development and implementation of traditional information systems. In this paper, we propose a Web Engineering Method (WEM): a method for developing Content Management System (CMS)-based web applications. Critical to a successful development of CMS-based web applications is adaptation to the dynamic business. We first define CMS-based web applications and identify their specific characteristics. Combining these characteristics with situational factors in projects, we show that by taking parts of proven methods, such as UML-based Web Engineering (UWE) and the Unified Process (UP), a unique method can be assembled for situational development of CMS-based web applications. We successfully validated the method at GX, a web-technology company specialised in developing and implementing CMS-based web applications.

A Web application is an application that is invoked with a Web browser over the Internet. Ever since 1994 when the Internet became available to the public and especially in 1995 when the World Wide Web put a usable face on the Internet, the Internet has become a platform of choice for a large number of ever-more sophisticated and innovative Web applications. In just one decade, the Web has evolved from being a repository of pages used primarily for accessing static, mostly scientific, information to a powerful platform for application development and deployment. New Web technologies, languages, and methodologies make it possible to create dynamic applications that represent a new model of cooperation and collaboration among large numbers of users. Web application development has been quick to adopt software engineering techniques of component orientation and standard components. For example, search, syndication, and tagging have become standard components of a new generation of collaborative applications and processes. Future developments in Web applications will be driven by advances in browser technology, Web Internet infrastructure, protocol standards, software engineering methods, and application trends.

The article analyzes the application of fractal analysis and neural networks in internet technologies for diagnosing the state of a studied object and forecasting time series. These methods will expand the possibilities of using predictions for the future behavior of the researched object in the fields of finance, investment, economics, sociology, and other industries where obtaining prospective knowledge is required. The authors provide an overview of predictive analysis theories and modern econometric and mathematical methods for modeling time series. The justification for choosing fractal analysis as an effective method for diagnosing business decision-making processes is given. A methodology for using internet technology to automate time series forecasting is proposed. A web application has been developed as a software product to solve the research tasks. The process of developing the web application is examined, which would forecast the financial indicators of Ukrainian banks based on available time series. The main stages of development and architecture of the web application for diagnosing and forecasting business processes are described. A generalized structure of software modules is presented. Time series of net profit for Ukrainian banks have been selected as the base model for analysis and forecasting. The developed web application is a complex of programs that use a neural network for time series forecasting. Fractal analysis is used in the stage of forming input data for the neural network. The application also provides the ability to conduct R/S analysis of time series to determine the Hurst exponent. The software product also allows training the neural network using backpropagation. With the machine learning algorithms used in the web application, it is possible to analyze large volumes of data and discover complex dependencies and patterns in time series that may be difficult to notice manually. This leads to more accurate and faster results and enables making more objective forecasts based on the available data. The developed web application can also be used for predicting crises in financial and investment activities.

The article explores in detail the methodologies for developing web applications for medical clinics using the popular React library. The main goal of this study is the analysis of modern approaches to the creation of web applications that meet the specific requirements of medical institutions. Particular attention is paid to the functional and non-functional characteristics that are critical to such systems, including data security, user experience, integration with existing systems, and compliance with regulatory standards. First of all, a comprehensive analysis of the requirements of medical clinics for web applications was carried out. Data security is one of the most important aspects as healthcare institutions work with sensitive information. The study examines methods for ensuring the confidentiality and integrity of medical data, including compliance with HIPAA and GDPR standards. React makes it easy to integrate modern security tools such as JWT (JSON Web Tokens) for authentication and authorization, and use secure HTTP connections for data transfer. In addition, special attention is paid to the user experience (UX/UI), which should ensure the convenience and efficiency of using the web application by both medical personnel and patients. React allows you to create dynamic and interactive interfaces that can adapt to different devices and screens, thus providing a high-quality user experience. This is especially important for medical applications, where the accuracy and speed of interaction can affect the quality of healthcare delivery. A detailed description of best practices and approaches to web application development using React is provided. A component architecture is considered, which provides modularity and code reuse, which is a key factor in creating scalable and easily maintainable applications. Different methods of state management in the application, such as the use of Context API and Redux, have been explored, which allows for efficient data management and stable operation of the application. Guidelines for configuring routing using the React Router library are described, allowing you to create dynamic and multi-page applications while providing smooth navigation and a good user experience. In addition, ways to ensure application security are considered, including protection against XSS attacks, CSRF and other types of vulnerabilities, which is critical in medical applications. The article provides specific recommendations for implementing a web application for a medical clinic. They include practical code examples that demonstrate the implementation of key functionalities such as user registration and authentication, medical record processing, and database interaction. The process of setting up the infrastructure for development, testing and deployment of the application is described, including the use of CI/CD tools to automate these processes, which contributes to increasing the efficiency of development and the quality of the final product. The article provides valuable information for developers who seek to create effective and secure web applications for medical clinics using modern technologies. The conclusions and recommendations presented in the study will help ensure high quality and compliance of the developed solutions with modern industry standards and requirements, which will contribute to increasing the efficiency of the work of medical institutions and the quality of medical services provided to patients

Although security is an integral aspect of any web application’s growth, sustainability is also a pivotal factor in maintaining the web application. It is clear that the software industry aims to develop different methods and initiatives for achieving high security while maintaining high sustainability. Unfortunately, web application protection is useless if the sustainability is low. Thus, the present day need calls for innovation in developing web applications that afford sustainable-security to the users. By improving sustainability along with web application protection, underlying security and sustainability attributes play a vital role in determining the symmetrical effect of the sustainability and security attribute to achieve the best outcome. Sustainability evaluation, therefore, uses security and sustainability qualities to achieve the desired sustainability security solutions. In this study, ten consecutive versions of two web applications were used to determine symmetrical sustainability. The authors used the Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (Fuzzy-AHP) mechanism to determine sustainability goals and long-term impact. Furthermore, the effect of security on sustainability is assessed, and vice versa. The findings in the paper will prove to be valuable for improving sustainability of the web application.
