This paper presents an AI-enhanced doctor appointment system designed to optimize the scheduling of medical appointments. The system is composed of four main modules: patient, hospital administration, doctor, and Admin. Upon logging in, users can input their location and symptoms, enabling the system to suggest nearby hospitals based on distance and ratings. Patients can then choose specialist doctors from comprehensive profiles and reviews. Doctors have the capability to update their availability, while hospital administrators can manage appointments for walk-in patients. The system also includes features for notifications and cancellation alerts to improve the user experience. The primary goal of this system is to enhance patient satisfaction, optimize hospital resource usage, and increase the efficiency of medical services. By integrating AI components, the system aims to refine scheduling processes, reduce congestion, and offer a smooth user experience. It utilizes a machine learning model based on support vector machines (SVM) to predict appointment attendance. In today’s fast-paced environment, reliable healthcare services are essential. This approach attempts to improve the connection between patients and healthcare providers by implementing a practical and user-friendly system. Furthermore, the technology provides medical personnel with a powerful tool for effectively managing their calendars, reducing administrative work and assuring a great patient experience. Background : In-depth interviews have long been recognized as a central method in user experience (UX) and design research, providing access to users’ perceptions, reasoning, and contextualized experiences. Unlike surveys or behavioral data, interviews reveal how users construct meaning, shift perspectives, and integrate emotions into their experiences. However, the analysis of interview data remains labor-intensive and highly dependent on manual coding, often resulting in inconsistencies and limited scalability. Conventional methods such as grounded theory and thematic analysis capture themes and concepts but struggle to structurally represent cognitive transitions over time. Recent advances in natural language processing (NLP), embeddings, and clustering offer new opportunities, yet these methods are mostly optimized for short or semi-structured text. Their application to lengthy, layered interview narratives remains limited. To address these challenges, this study introduces an automated framework that segments interview data into cognitive units and visualizes reasoning flows to support more consistent and scalable qualitative analysis.<br/>Methods : We developed a Python-based analytical procedure consisting of four steps: semantic unit segmentation, clustering, cognitive tagging, and visualization. Six cognitive tags were defined: Situational Awareness, Conceptual Clarification, Strategic Application, Reflection & Insight, Perspective Shift, and Constraints & Limitations. A supervised classifier trained in manually labeled utterances automated the tagging process. Visualization tools such as Sankey diagrams and heatmaps were used to illustrate cognitive transitions and centralities. Data collection comprised seven in-depth interviews with UX designers, product managers, and data scientists, resulting in 9.5 hours of recorded material and approximately 110,000 characters of transcribed content.<br/>Results : Applying the automated procedure to a total of 1,041 utterances demonstrated that interview data can be quantitatively structured and analyzed along temporal flows and transition patterns. Sankey diagrams and centrality analyses revealed recurring cognitive transitions and key nodes, allowing the structural characteristics of reasoning flows—often difficult to capture through manual coding—to be objectively identified. These findings highlight the potential of analyzing long-form qualitative interviews in a consistent and reproducible manner.<br/>Conclusions : This study proposes an automated framework for structurally quantifying and visualizing interview data. Rather than merely classifying types of reasoning, the approach expresses utterance-level transitions and flows through quantitative metrics and visual maps, thereby complementing the subjectivity and limitations of traditional qualitative analysis. Implemented entirely with open-source Python tools, the method can be adopted without advanced technical resources and offers a pathway toward the standardization and scalability of qualitative analysis in UX and design research.

Now that most daily endeavors have migrated to computers and the Internet, having systems that adapt to users is a rising trend. By detecting and adapting to the user's traits and character instead of only the current states, there is great potential for novel user experiences. Character Computing which was introduced in [3] is now extended to the field of experimental psychology and psychological theorizing. Our approach integrates psychological and computational aspects of advanced sensing and processing technologies to detect the building blocks of a user's character traits and states which will allow computer systems to adapt to the user's behavior and his/her feelings more reliably and mimic them according to situational demands. Accordingly, in this workshop the different aspects of Character Computing are to be discussed from an interdisciplinary perspective taking computational and psychological accounts into consideration in order to strengthen already investigated and potential applications as well as the theoretical foundation and challenges of Character Computing.

The advancement of Internet of Things (IoT) technology has significantly transformed traditional home security systems. This research focuses on the design and implementation of a smart door utilizing the ESP32-WROVER microcontroller and Blynk application. The system integrates various components, including a camera (ESP32-CAM), solenoid lock, motion detection sensor, and LCD, to provide a real-time notification and interactive user experience. The smart door enables homeowners to monitor visitors remotely, send custom messages via LCD, and control door locks using their smartphone. Key innovations include the addition of motion sensors for real-time surveillance and enhanced security and the use of LCD to communicate with visitors effectively. The proposed system aims to address limitations in conventional and earlier smart door designs, such as distinguishing between real visitors and objects and providing a comprehensive security solution. The system’s performance was tested using a prototype, demonstrating its ability to improve home security by adjusting and responding to visitor activities effectively. The results show that the smart door provides an integrated ecosystem suitable for modern households, ensuring better safety and convenience. This study, titled “Design of an IoT-Based Smart Door Using ESP32-WROVER with Notification System via Blynk Application”, highlights the application of IoT and automation in creating a more efficient and user-friendly security system.

Higher education in today's digital era faces the challenge of integrating technology effectively to improve the quality of learning. One of the technologies used is the Learning Management System (LMS), which facilitates interaction between lecturers and students in teaching and learning activities. Universitas Hindu Indonesia (UNHI) has adopted LMS as part of its education digitization strategy. However, the effectiveness of using this LMS has not been thoroughly evaluated, especially in terms of ease of use and user satisfaction. This study aims to assess the usability of the LMS at UNHI using the System Usability Scale (SUS) method. By analyzing data from 97 respondents, the results showed a score of 61, which falls within the 'OK' category and grade 'D'. This indicates that although the LMS provides benefits, there are some areas that require improvement. Key findings show that while ease of use is relatively good, there are significant issues with the mobile interface, notification system, and technical capacity. Recommendations for improvement include enhancing the interface for mobile devices, improving the notification system, and increasing technical capacity to improve the user experience. These findings provide important directions for the development of a more efficient and satisfactory LMS at UNHI.

Interactive interface, also called user interface, is a channel for users to exchange information and data with computers. Interface enables users to operate the hardware system conveniently and efficiently, and enables the hardware system to effectively transmit the current working state, operation results and other information data to users, which is an important part of software products. The wide application of flat style in mobile game interface design enables players to pay more attention to the playing method, mechanism and artistic aesthetics in the game world, and obtain a smoother and more efficient game experience. The flat interface design can provide users with a more convenient way to use, and the main purpose is to continuously improve the user's experience, and then make users more satisfied with it. This paper studies and analyzes the flat interface design of mobile games in the Internet age, hoping to promote the popularization and application of the flat interface design and bring better experience to users.

Water crisis and pollution are two major existing problems in current state of Bangladesh. Some traditional water level indicator along with notification system and purification arrangement is available in this context. However, the indication and purification system is not fully automated and there needs a lot of maintenance overhead. In this paper, a novel model is proposed to conduct an automatic indication and two-layer purification process for home water. The automated indication system is necessary to stop the probable scarcity of drinking water, wastage of water in various levels and purification system is needed for safe drinking water. Proposed system can also maintain the proper distribution of water during hot and humid weather by sensing temperatures and humidity. Finally, this system will generate automatic bill depending on the exact amount of usages of water by individuals.

The Recent work of the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy project http://plato.stanford.edu/ has been focused on fostering and managing the growth of a dynamic reference work. Our particular project is to produce an authoritative and comprehensive dynamic reference work devoted to the academic discipline of philosophy that will be kept up to date dynamically so as to remain useful to those in academia and the general public.Our concept of a dynamic reference work is defined in a way which distinguishes it from other online publishing projects, namely: (1) it is published in a continuously revisable electronic medium, (2) it offers a comprehensive set of entries on topics in a target discipline, (3) it provides the authors of the entries with electronic access to the reference work's central web server, so that they can remotely edit and update private copies of their entries and submit them for publication according to a regular update schedule and at any other time it becomes necessary to revise, (4) it maintains quality by way of a distinguished Board of Editors, the members of which commission the entries and referee both the initial versions of the entries and subsequent substantive modifications, prior to publication on the web, and (5) it creates, and makes publicly available, archives of the entries on at least a quarterly basis (i.e., these contain fixed versions of the entries, which can be cited in scholarly publications). A dynamic reference work based on this model constantly evolves and becomes responsive to new research.Thus, a dynamic reference work is not merely a revisable work or one that is published online. Successful implementation of the dynamic aspects of this definition depend upon the ease with which the authors, subject editors, and the principal editor have access to the tools and information that allow entries at all stages of the work flow to be managed asynchronously. In such an environment, each entry has its own deadlines and it is necessary to track electronically the location of every entry in the work flow and provide automated reminders to individuals with work pending.Over the past two years, the number of authors attached to our project has grown considerably -- from about 350 to 600. As a result, the number of entries which are being submitted, reviewed, published, and updated at any given moment has grown rapidly. In the past year, the average rate at which we publish new entries rose from approximately 2 entries per month to 10 entries per month.In this context of rapid development, our work on managing and fostering growth means: (1) working to insure that the asynchronous publication schedule for the entries is met even though there is no pre-determined publication date, (2) working to enable a small support staff on a small budget (compared to traditional reference work publishing) to manage the project in the face of rapid growth, and (3) working to help our users more quickly access and navigate the growing reference work as more entries become available.We will demonstrate how our password-protected web interfaces, back-end processing system, and new front-end features, work together to facilitate the collaborative effort of creating and managing the dynamic reference work. We will highlight the newest parts of the system which are centered on growth. These include: (1) enhanced automation of email reminders that is sensitive to author and board member responsiveness and (2) an automated link-rot detection and notification system. Also, new and improved ways to navigate the encyclopedia including: (1) an automated dynamic re-cross-referencing system which enables users to more easily navigate the encyclopedia thematically, (2) a dynamically generated What's New page that summarizes the changes for updated entries, and (3) a system which allows users to view the changes in the updated versions of entries.When compared to other online publishing efforts of similar scale, we face some unique technical challenges. For example, most serial publications do not require re-cross-referencing of their documents as new articles are published. People who want to navigate thematically do so through searches which can return irrelevant results that are easily ignored. Enhancing Communication and Response for Care of Newborns at Risk of Complications

In recent years, a substantial body of literature has emerged due to the widespread application of Co-design in Service Design Research (hereafter referred to as Co-SDR). However, there is currently no comprehensive literature review on Co-SDR. To further promote the development of service design and Co-design as a tool for innovation, it is crucial to comprehensively summarize and analyse the relevant research, particularly its current state over the past five years. Furthermore, the existing research literature in the field of Co-SDR is extensive, spanning across diverse disciplines and fields of knowledge, and the research content and perspectives are complex. As such, traditional methods of literature review may not be adequate in capturing the current research hotspots and development dynamics. The search strategy of using TS= ((co-design OR collaborative design) AND (service design)) in the Web of Science (WOS) core database was adopted in this study. The three major citation indexes commonly used in the WOS database, namely the Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI), the Science Citation Index (SCI), and the Arts and Humanities Citation Index (A&amp;HCI), were chosen as the search sources. The search spanned from 2018 to 2022 to examine the development dynamics and current status of research in the last five years. To avoid the loss of interdisciplinary literature, the sources were not streamlined. A total of 880 articles were selected and used for further quantitative analysis. To obtain more rigorous and comprehensive data indicators, the study employed VOSviewer, a bibliometric visualization software that uses a scientific bibliometric approach to empirically analyse the retrieved data. Bibliometrics refers to the quantitative analysis of various types of bibliographic data to identify potential patterns and information in the vast amount of bibliographic data available. This approach was first proposed by Pritchard in 1969. The analysis reveals that Co-SDR research output has increased significantly in the past two years. Few countries/regions, institutions, and scholars demonstrate high productivity, and research collaborations tend to be institutionally dominated and fragmented.The keyword clustering analysis shows that Co-SDR research is comprehensive and multidisciplinary, with four primary categories: #1 Healthcare Design, #2 Research Methodology, #3 Participatory Design of Public Services, and #4 Design Assessment. Together, these clusters form the hotspots of Co-SDR research, including service design methods and evaluation, user interaction, experience and co-design processes, reflecting a strong inclusive character and emphasising "user-centredness."The reference co-citation network analysis reveals that Co-SDR research is relatively mature, and the field has produced a body of classic literature. The research methodology is primarily a user-centred participatory approach, using specific quantitative evaluation metrics for service design, with the aim of improving services through co-design. Research theories include value co-creation, experience-based co-design, technical co-design, and planning studies, which have played an essential role in driving the development of subsequent research on Co-SDR.

This is a report on the Workshop on Tracking Quality of Experience in the Internet, held at Princeton, October 21--22, 2015, jointly sponsored by the National Science Foundation and the Federal Communication Commission. The term Quality of Experience (QoE) describes a user's subjective assessment of their experience when using a particular application. In the past, network engineers have typically focused on Quality of Service (QoS): performance metrics such as throughput, delay and jitter, packet loss, and the like. Yet, performance as measured by QoS parameters only matters if it affects the experience of users, as they attempt to use a particular application. Ultimately, the user's experience is determined by QoE impairments (e.g., rebuffering). Although QoE and QoS are related---for example, a video rebuffering event may be caused by high packet-loss rate---QoE metrics ultimately affect a user's experience. Identifying the causes of QoE impairments is complex, since the impairments may arise in one or another region of the network, in the home network, on the user's device, in servers that are part of the application, or in supporting services such as the DNS. Additionally, metrics for QoE continue to evolve, as do the methods for relating QoE impairments to underlying causes that could be measurable using standard network measurement techniques. Finally, as the capabilities of the underlying network infrastructure continues to evolve, researchers should also consider how to design infrastructure and tools can best support measurements that can better identify the locations and causes of QoE impairments. The workshop's aim was to understand the current state of QoE research and to contemplate a community agenda to integrate ongoing threads of QoE research into a collaboration. This summary report describes the topics discussed and summarize the key points of the discussion. In previous work, we proposed a logic-based framework in which computation is the execution of actions in an attempt to make reactive rules of the formif antecedent then consequenttrue in a canonical model of a logic program determined by an initial state, sequence of events, and the resulting sequence of subsequent states. In this model-theoretic semantics, reactive rules are the driving force, and logic programs play only a supporting role. In the canonical model, states, actions, and other events are represented with timestamps. But in the operational semantics (OS), for the sake of efficiency, timestamps are omitted and only the current state is maintained. State transitions are performed reactively by executing actions to make theconsequentsof rules true whenever theantecedentsbecome true. This OS is sound, but incomplete. It cannot make reactive rules true by preventing theirantecedentsfrom becoming true, or by proactively making theirconsequentstrue before theirantecedentsbecome true. In this paper, we characterize the notion of reactive model, and prove that the OS can generate all and only such models. In order to focus on the main issues, we omit the logic programming component of the framework.

Usability problems do not heal by themselves: National survey on physicians’ experiences with EHRs in Finland

This chapter provides an in-depth discussion on the impact of synchronization of TV-related applications on the user experience. After all, applications meant to be used in conjunction with TV watching are created for the benefit and pleasure of the viewer. In order to explain the main user-related aspects of media synchronization, we will first sketch how the television and media landscape has evolved and which timing and synchronization aspects are important for the makers of TV-related applications. Then, we will delve into the core topic of this chapter by presenting the main user experience aspects involved in the creation of second-screen (Attentive readers will notice that ‘second screen’ is sometimes written with, and sometimes without a hyphen. When using ‘second screen’ without a hyphen, we use it as a substantive (the second screen). When using ‘second-screen’ with a hyphen, it is used as an adjective (second-screen applications).) applications—a specific type of TV-related application that has gained a lot of attention in the past years. Finally, we highlight the impact of synchronization issues on the user experience for Social TV applications. Our insights are gathered from our earlier publications in this area, results of research with users from the European research project TV-RING, and related literature. The chapter will, therefore, serve as an overview of media synchronization from the perspective of the viewer, based on our own insights and experiences, and complemented with the current state of the art.

An automotive application of the high-intensity gas discharge lamp is discussed. Lamp design parameters are reported, taken from the latest experiences of manufacturers and users. Accordingly, ballast specifications are assumed and applied to the design of the regulated DC/DC power conversion stage. Well-known power converters are reviewed for reference and a new converter, called FFC, is presented. Analytical conversion characteristics and design procedures are reported and applied. A design comparison is then carried out, based on transformer, switch and bulk capacitor RMS current behaviours, over warm-up and steady state operating ranges. FFC is shown well suited for the application, requiring wide input and very wide output ranges. Experimental verifications are reported from pre-series prototypes.
