PurposeThe aim of this study is to investigate the likely antecedents of young Indian professionals' behavioral intention (BI) to use the income tax e‐filing service.Design/methodology/approachPrior to data collection, for which a self‐administered survey was conducted, lecture‐demonstrations were arranged to familiarize the potential respondents with the income tax e‐filing service. The psychometric data were analyzed for reliability and construct validity of the measures, and thereafter a regression analysis was carried out.FindingsRegression results showed that antecedents of young Indian professionals' BI to use the income tax e‐filing service are: perceived ease‐of‐use, personal innovativeness in information technology, relative advantage (RA), performance of e‐filing service, and compatibility (COMP).Originality/valuePast studies on income tax e‐filing are beset by problems of adopter bias, and failure to treat trust as a multi‐dimensional. In addition, these studies are skewed towards two theories, namely technology acceptance model, and theory of planned behavior. Although perceived characteristics of innovating has held considerable promise as an alternative framework, it has a chronic problem of confounding between RA and COMP. In investigating the antecedents of young Indian professionals' intention to use the income tax e‐filing, this study also tries to deal with these issues, which are important to the practice of e‐government adoption research.

Research purpose—Economy digital transformation has had a strong impact on several areas, such as employment, economic organization modus operandi, or the digital modernization of economic agents. Technological innovations, such as artificial intelligence, have resulted in new digital products and services that are smarter, autonomous, and complex. This evolution requires ethics and social responsibility as critical components of economic sustainability. Design/methodology/approach—This article analyzes the relevance of ethics and social responsibility among young information systems professionals. Given the technological specificity of the new generation, it was considered an opportunity to analyze sensitivity to their ethical obligations and responsibilities. A survey was sent to about 40 information systems and technology young professionals, as a convenience sample, to assess several dimensions of ethics and social responsibility, and to identify an opportunity for future studies. Findings—The results show that there is responsibility regarding the social effects of technology on technology users. However, it is noted that there is still a long way to go, because decisions regarding ethical and social responsibilities cannot be left to the discretion of each individual professional. Economic organizations should assume values, policies, and rules appropriated to the new order in the context of the information society. Originality/value/practical implications—The present study aimed to evaluate the relevance of ethics and social responsibility to information systems young professionals, and we expect that these results can encourage them to develop greater sensitivity to this issue, contributing to the change needed and desired.

Background and aim There are differences in the training programs among European Countries and some sub-specialities are not even recognized in all the training programs. However, discrepancies amongst the Countries and the needs of the trainees are not well known. As such, a survey on the experience of Cardiovascular Professional Training across Europe was created by the ESC Board Committee for Young Cardiovascular professionals to provide a detailed picture of the training programs in the European Countries with deep insights into the needs and expectations of trainees Methods Between February and April 2021 a survey with 35 questions on the structure of the training program and on the expectations and needs of the young professionals was launched and advertised through all the official ESC social media and communications channels. Results 643 under 40-year-old young professionals participated to the survey, 72% cardiologists, 14% other professionals, 3% nurses. The majority of the participants were in practice (59%) and male (57%), mean age was 33 year-old. The current working environment was university hospital (52%), local hospitals (18%), other tertiary locations (13%) and private sector (12%). The majority (54%) of the participants declared not being satisfied with the structure of their training programme and almost all would like a standardised European training programme (94%). The feeling was that more time should be allocated to active participation in interventions (currently 30%, suggested 46%) and that they do not have easy access to all subspecialities (52%). Only 39% of the participants were aware that a 2020 ESC Core curriculum exists and 36% declared that it used in their own Country. Nevertheless, the majority consult the ESC's online education contents (33%, 25% and 17% once per week, per month and per day respectively) and attend Congresses regularly (41% both national and international, 33% only national). Although the majority feel sufficiently recognized for their work by patients, supervisors and society (84%, 65% and 60% respectively), they are unsatisfied from a financial point of view (71%). Conclusions The majority of the young cardiovascular professionals feel that their training programme is not satisfactory and a standardised European programme should be implemented. However the ESC Core Curriculum is not well known among the young and not widely used in European Countries. These findings suggest more efforts will be needed to implement a standardized training programme by the ESC and national cardiac societies. Funding Acknowledgement Type of funding sources: None. Rising cases of type 2 diabetes (T2D) in India, especially in metropolitan cities is an increasing concern. The individuals that were most affected are young professionals working in the corporate sector. However, the corporate sector has remained the least explored for T2D risk predisposition. Considering corporate employees’ lifestyles and the role of gene-environment interaction in T2D susceptibility, the study aims to find genetic variants associated with T2D predisposition. In this first kind of study, 680 young professionals (284 T2D cases, and 396 controls) were diagnosed and screened for 2658 variants on an array designed explicitly for the CoGsI study. The variant filtering was done at Bonferroni p-value of 0.000028. The genetic data was analysed using PLINK v1.09, SPSS, R programming, VEP tool, and FUMA GWAS tool. Interestingly, 42 variants were associated with the T2D risk. Out of 42, three missense variants (rs1402467, rs6050, and rs713598) in Sulfotransferase family 1 C member 4 (SULT1C4), Fibrinogen Alpha Chain (FGA), and Taste 2 Receptor Member 38 (TAS2R38) and two untranslated region (UTR) variants (rs1063320 and rs6296) in Major Histocompatibility Complex, Class I, G (HLA-G) and 5-Hydroxytryptamine Receptor 1B (HTR1B) were associated with the T2D risk. CoGsI identified potential genomic markers increasing susceptibility to the early onset of T2D. Present findings provide insights into mechanisms underlying T2D manifestation in corporate professionals due to genetics interacting with occupational stress and urban lifestyles.

Background The “Öffentliche Gesundheitsdienst (ÖGD)” is the central public health institution in Germany. The ÖGD comprises of all public sector institutions responsible for protecting and monitoring the population health on the federal, state, county and municipal level. Its key functions contain identifying and addressing public health threats, and promoting the heath of the general population. Despite the important role, the ÖGD has not been successful in attracting and recruiting young professionals; a situation aggravated by an expected wave of retirements. We aimed to identify barriers and discuss solutions to promote the attractiveness of working in the German public health service among young professionals. Methods Firstly, we conducted a theory-based online-survey of medical and public health students enrolled in Germany. Secondly, we conducted key-informant interviews with a purposive sample of former public health students meanwhile working at the local health authority or a public health department as well as leading persons in the same institutions. Results In the survey of more than 2400 students, among others identified barriers included: students not being aware of the ÖGD and its activities, negative images of the ÖGD, and unattractive job profiles. In the interviews, some participants expressed or experienced a strong preference within the ÖGD to attract medical students to the detriment of public health students. A lack of appreciation and strictly hierarchical work contexts were identified as further obstacles. Conclusions The survey and interviews identified several potential barriers and obstacles for young professionals to join the public health workforce in Germany. Likely, major reforms within the ÖGD as well as in the education of medical and public health students is necessary to overcome this challenge. The results of the qualitative study identify several potential solutions for improvement. Key messages We conducted a mixed-method study of medical and public health students and young professionals to explore the challenges of the German public health service to attract young professionals. Our study shows that major reforms are likely necessary to increase the attractiveness of the German public health service.

Universities play an important and multifaceted role in preparing young people to meet complex challenges of the modern world.Interdisciplinary programs, research projects, social responsibility and international orientation implemented by universities contribute to the development of highly qualified young professionals who can make a significant contribution to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.Involving students in educational and research projects on sustainable development creates a new generation of young leaders and professionals who are ready to solve complex problems in achieving the said goals, thereby transmitting the goals to society.Strengthening the position of universities in achieving sustainable development goals is facilitated by the development of a strategy, which must necessarily include various activities aimed at attracting young professionals and the public to issues of sustainable development.

Supporting the development of young family planning professionals is key to fostering communities of practitioners that can help countries achieve family planning goals. The Family Planning Voices (FP Voices) storytelling initiative, created by The Knowledge for Health Project and Family Planning 2020, documents stories from people around the world who are passionate about family planning. This qualitative evaluation used in-depth interviews (n = 11) with young professionals (ages 18-30) to uncover the effects of sharing their story with FP Voices. Participants came from 10 countries in one of three regions, Latin America (n = 2), South Asia (n = 2), and Africa (n = 7). Findings highlight that sharing one's story with FP Voices served as a professional development opportunity and instilled confidence and pride among young professionals. Additionally, participants linked access to a professional headshot and the experience of participating in an interview to their professional development. Participants often discussed the recognition they gained from sharing their story and the resulting increase in professional connections and opportunities. Participants hoped that their stories would inspire and encourage others and support recognition of the value of young professionals to the larger family planning field. In sum, storytelling initiatives like FP Voices can motivate and create community and opportunity among young professionals.

The article discusses issues regarding the organization of the national championship “Young Professionals”, which takes place within the framework of the federal project “Young Professionals (increasing the competitiveness of vocational education)” of the national project “Education”. Currently, there are many competitions aimed at improving the level of vocational education. The Young Professionals Championship is no exception. Its main goal is to increase the prestige of working professions and the development of vocational education by combining the best practices and professional standards with the involvement of qualified specialists as judges and teachers who are able to transfer the accumulated experience to a new generation of young professionals. The "Young Professionals" championships in our country are held according to the international rules of WorldSkills International (WSI), which reflect the requirements for a specialist of the highest level in the conditions of modern realities. Of course, the Young Professionals Championship movement plays an important role in the training of qualified personnel. The championship makes an invaluable contribution to the education and upbringing of young professionals, as it encourages students to accumulate experience, search for non-standard solutions to problems. Subsequently, students show great independence and interest in learning.

Purpose This study investigates the relationship between young professionals' perceptions of cyber security and their level of online shopping on e-commerce platforms in Koronadal City. Study design/methodology/approach A descriptive-correlational research design was employed to assess the socio-economic profile, cyber security concerns, and personal risk mitigation practices of 68 young professionals. Data were collected using a structured survey instrument and analyzed through frequency distribution, weighted mean, standard deviation, and simple linear regression. Findings The majority of respondents were aged 27 to 30, earned below PHP 10,000 monthly, and were primarily self-employed. Participants expressed high concerns regarding the security of personal and financial information, with data security being the highest concern (mean = 4.57). A significant inverse relationship was found between cybersecurity concerns and the level of e-commerce usage (β = -0.179, p = 0.046), indicating that greater concerns about cybersecurity led to lower online shopping frequency. Personal risk mitigation practices were moderate, with respondents frequently updating passwords and exercising caution with suspicious links, though the use of two-factor authentication remained inconsistent. Originality/value This study provides empirical insights into how cybersecurity concerns influence online shopping behavior among young professionals. The findings emphasize the need for e-commerce platforms to enhance security measures and transparency to improve consumer confidence. Additionally, the study underscores the importance of targeted cybersecurity education to encourage safer and more frequent e-commerce engagement.

Labor market almost daily updated with young professionals — university graduates, who get up to the first stage of his career. Young professionals or the university graduates make up a large part of the working population of Russia and occupy an important place in the reproduction and development of human resources and are major innovative potential. Transition to innovative development of Russia’s economy implies new requirements for the development of young people, and for the youth policy objectives. The main goal of the medium-and long-term national youth policy is to increase the human capital of young people and increase their competitiveness.The idea of the perfect young professional today is variously as employers and graduates.This article presents the results of Orenburg region employers research. Main research areas: staffing needs of employers and ways of addressing them, the general and specific requirements of employers to young professionals, evaluation of the young specialists level of training. Practical recommendations to improve the competitiveness of young professionals on the labor market and the development of partnerships with higher education institutions and employers in the region.

The aim of this paper is to identify and discuss the significant of digital competency needed for employability, on young professional in Malaysia. What is expected by the employer when they enter the labor market? Design/methodology/approach – The study used qualitative design. Focus group discussions were used to collect data from young graduates who able to secure job right or within 6 months after graduate. Data collected were analysed using thematic categorization. Results were presented using descriptive and narrative form. An inductive approach used to understand and analyse the ability of being employed. Round-table talk are the primary sources for this paper. Findings –. The study identifies key digital competencies that contribute to the employability of young professionals in Malaysia. These include digital academic knowledge, digital communication, digital problem-solving, and digital work experience. Among these, digital work experience appears to be of higher priority, playing a critical role in the successful employment of Social Sciences graduates in Malaysia. Practical implications – The findings of this study provide valuable insights for higher education institutions in developing professional development plans aimed at equipping students with the necessary digital skills. The study underscores the importance of adopting the right competencies within university curricula to align with industry demands. Furthermore, it highlights the need for the redesign of relevant courses to enhance graduates' performance and maintain their competitiveness in the labor market. Originality/value – This paper is to identify the comprehensive of digital competency expectations of young professionals of Social Sciences in Malaysia. At the same time, it identifies differences in the competency expectations by the employer and competency possessed by the young professionals. Research limitations/implications – The empirical part of the study was limited to the Social Sciences young professionals in Malaysia. A similar study covering all sectors of the national economy will offer a complete on the skills needs for various field and its preparedness to contribute in the emerging digital economy. Novelty:- This study provides original insights into how young professionals perceive and apply digital competencies within their early career experiences. It contributes to the ongoing discussion on digital employability by presenting qualitative evidence from Malaysian Social Sciences graduate.

Nowadays, young individuals in the East African community are using information and communication technologies in different ways, some as an opportunity to make a conversation with relatives and others take it as a distraction. Information and communication technology is an opportunity for young individuals to grow businesses. Young professionals need to investigate in small and medium-sized enterprises and should not only expect to get jobs elsewhere. The issue is that young professionals in the East African community cannot compete with each other when their mindset on doing business through small and medium-sized enterprises are taken differently and the levels of economic of these countries are very different. This article is motivated by the researcher’s observation analysis about young professionals in the East Africa community who know information and communication technologies, and unfortunately, they use them in a way that cannot make small and medium-sized enterprises successful. The main goal of this study is to describe information and communication technologies as an opportunity to buy or sell goods or services through small and medium-sized enterprises. This study will provide a better understanding to the lecturer, especially young professionals to take information and communication technologies positively as an opportunity to grow business through small and medium-sized enterprises and to know the strategy to use to sell products and how to manage consumer’s behavior through their needs. Young professionals need to build business skills and linkages with local and international businesses by exchanging business ideas and information via information and communication technologies.

In 2025, the European Nuclear Society Young Generation Network (ENS YGN) celebrates three decades of empowering students and young professionals in the nuclear field across Europe. Since its foundation in 1995, ENS YGN has grown into a vibrant and influential network, representing approximately 4000 members in 21 European countries. It has played a pivotal role in fostering cross-border collaboration, promoting knowledge exchange, and inspiring the next generation of nuclear professionals.The visions of ENS YGN are diverse: to facilitate professional development, encourage innovation, promote leadership, and build a strong sense of community among young people in nuclear science and technology. The network achieves these goals through a variety of initiatives, including the triannual Core Committee Meetings (CCMs), where representatives from national YGNs gather to share best practices, coordinate activities, and shape the network’s strategic direction.One of the flagship events of ENS YGN is the European Nuclear Young Generation Forum (ENYGF), held biennially. This forum brings together hundreds of young professionals and students for a week of technical sessions, workshops, cultural exchange, and networking. It serves as a platform for showcasing innovation, discussing policy, and strengthening international ties. In collaboration with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), ENS YGN collaborates in hosting the NEM School (Nuclear Energy Management School) in parallel to ENYGF, which has been running since 2021. This programme equips future leaders of national YGNs with essential skills in nuclear governance, communication, and strategic planning, reinforcing the network’s commitment to leadership development and capacity building. Also since 2021, ENS YGN facilitates the European edition of Innovation for Nuclear (I4N). The annual competition encourages creative thinking and foster innovation in nuclear technologies, applications, or systems among young professionals and students throughout all disciplines.At the national level, individual YGNs organise a wide range of activities tailored to their local contexts. These include technical visits to nuclear facilities, national conferences, public outreach campaigns, and community-building events. Many national networks also engage in digital outreach, such as podcasts and webinars, to broaden their impact and reach new audiences. ENS YGN also collaborates with international organisations and stakeholders to amplify the voice of young professionals in global nuclear discourse. Through these partnerships, the network contributes to shaping the future of the industry while ensuring that the perspectives of younger generations are heard and valued.As the nuclear sector faces challenges related to sustainability, innovation, and public perception, the role of ENS YGN remains more relevant than ever. By connecting and inspiring young professionals, the network not only supports individual career development but also contributes to the long-term resilience and vitality of the European nuclear industry.

WITH this issue of the EMR we introduce a section for Young Professionals (YPs) under the direction of Sohaib Sheikh, IT and Communications Systems Consultant. Sohaib chairs the YP Sub-Committee for the UK and Ireland Section. The Sub-committee is initiating programs in education and networking to assist students in transitioning to the job market. The YP Section of EMR will include two or more articles, in each issue, on topics of special interest to the YPs.
