International Journal of Trends in Mathematics Education Research (IJTMER) is a peer-reviewed open-access international journal who aims to the sharing, dissemination and discussion of current trends research results, experience and perspectives across a wide range of mathematics education, teaching mathematics, development in mathematics instruction, innovations in mathematics learning, and current trends issue in mathematics education research.

This session is a follow up to the Research on STEAM Teaching and Learning Workshop that was held May, 11, 2018 and sponsored by the George Mason University Office of Research. Workshop participants and those not able to attend the workshop are invited to join this session for lightning talk networking session for those interested in STEAM Education Research efforts at Mason. Join us as we identify opportunities to collaborate and explore bold and innovative visions for STEAM teaching and learning research at Mason through a STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) education research networking session. Several (8-10) faculty from a diverse set of programs will share 1-2 minute "lightning" descriptions of their STEAM teaching and learning research interests. Sharing of interests will be followed by time for open networking to help colleagues identify overlapping interests and opportunities to work together. Session participants will become more familiar with the diversity STEAM teaching and learning research taking place on campus and will be able to identify existing projects of interest, as well as potential collaborators for new ideas. ______________________________________________________________ FULL ABSTRACT: This session is a follow up to the Research on STEAM Teaching and Learning Workshop that was held May, 11, 2018 and sponsored by the George Mason University Office of Research. We hope to alert attendees of this panel to a number of aspects of CS education research:• previous work that provides good models for future research;• current projects and results;• areas that deserve more inquiry;• questions for which research is unlikely at the moment to yield useful information. The panel is aimed at people who don't need to be convinced about the value of CS education research, but who perhaps are unfamiliar with what's happening or how they might get involved themselves.

The Journal of Advances in Education Research is an open access and peer reviewed journal publishing articles in all aspects of Education. The journal has a deliberately broad scope and publishes quantitative and qualitative research studies, single-case design studies, reviews of research, discussion pieces, short reports and book reviews concerned with critical inquiry in and of education. This wide coverage enables discussion of topical issues and policies affecting education and educational establishments worldwide.

This paper aims to address conceptual and methodological challenges of doing research in the field of inclusive education and revisit school effectiveness research literature to inform future research. First, we present the rationale for inclusive education and briefly review the evolution of special needs education. Then, we discuss limitations of current research on inclusive education. Next, we present school- and classroom-level findings of school effectiveness research to highlight how it can influence the inclusive education research agenda. We conclude by presenting future directions for research.

Yesterday Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht started providing OA to selected monographs on education research published by its imprint, V&R unipress. The monographs are from the series, Studien des Georg-Eckert-Instituts zur Internationalen Bildungsmedienforschung , and on deposit in the Fachportal Pädagogik (or pedocs ) document server hosted by the Deutschen Institut für Internationale Pädagogische Forschung (DIPF).

Abstract In this study, we reviewed publications in the International Journal of STEM Education from 2014 to 2021 to gain a glimpse of STEM education research trends in terms of authorship and topics. We analyzed publication quantities and types, authors’ profession, research topics and school levels, and the top 10 most-cited publications over the years. The results provide some encouraging indications of the expanded engagement and dynamic development in publication authorship and topics in STEM education research worldwide.

The past year saw a number of very positive developments in mathematics education research. Of most direct impact on researchers was the fact that the National Science Foundation research programs reestablished in 1984 began funding a sizable number of projects in 1985. The renewed availability of funds for research will have a ripple effect across the mathematics education community for years to come. In addition to the increased funding for research, 1985 marked the beginning of several long-range projects and programs that are of particular interest to mathematics education researchers.

In this commentary, I focus on 4 common issues of concern that are present in different forms in the country reviews: how (a) philosophies, laws, and ethics influence special education research; (b) policy making and research affect each other; and (c) research topics are selected and (d) who conducts special education research with what methodologies. A collection of surveys like this demonstrates the important roles that ongoing international dialogues and the promotion of an international research culture can provide.

Verbal protocol analysis or think alouds have emerged as a useful research methodology for studying a wide variety of human problem-solving skills. Think aloud methodology has only recently been applied to the study of the cognitive processes involved in music listening, composing, performing, and conducting. This article highlights this growing body of music education research studies and provides detailed discussion of the issues involved in data collection and analysis when using think alouds in music education research.
