Research Article10.3130/aijt.31.788REPAIR METHOD FOR CORRODED ANGLE STEEL USING CFRP BY VARTM TECHNIQUEJun 20, 2025AIJ Journal of Technology and DesignShogo Higuchi + 4 more +4In this study, CFRP repair method using VaRTM technique is proposed for angle steel with the simulated corrosion. Full-scale cyclic horizontal loading tests were conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of the repair method in restoring the structural performance of the member. The results show that the proposed CFRP repair method using VaRTM technique effectively restored the structural performance of perforated angle steel with simulated corrosion. Furthermore, the design approach mitigates early debonding by ensuring that the plastic hinge position is avoided from the CFRP adhesive zone.Read moreCiteListenSave
Research Article10.3130/aijt.31.1129RECONNAISSANCE OF BASE-ISOLATED BUILDINGS AFTER THE 2024 NOTO PENINSULA EARTHQUAKEJun 20, 2025AIJ Journal of Technology and DesignIchiro Hirano + 4 more +4To promote the adoption of seismic isolated buildings, validating their seismic safety is important. By using results of scratch recorded equipment installed in the seismic isolated floor, seismic behavior and response of the buildings have been analyzed by previous studies. This paper presents the findings of investigations on the damaged condition of 24 seismic isolated buildings located in Ishikawa, Toyama, and Niigata prefectures after the Noto Peninsula Earthquake of January 1, 2024. The maximum displacement response obtained from the scratch records and that of analytical model are compared and discussed.Read moreCiteListenSave
Research Article10.3130/aijt.31.1011METHODS OF HOLDING OPEN HOUSE IN NARROW RESIDENTIAL SPACES IN THE COVID-19 PANDEMICJun 20, 2025AIJ Journal of Technology and DesignKentaro Hashimoto + 7 more +7This study presents the case of “Open Nagaya Osaka” as an example of an open house in a narrow residential space during the COVID-19 pandemic. The contents of the event program are presented, and the results of a questionnaire administered to event participants and the results of CO2 concentration measurements are used to clarify the outcomes of the event. Subsequently, we demonstrate how to conduct an open house that enhances participant satisfaction while implementing infection control measures.Read moreCiteListenSave
Research Article10.3130/aijt.31.717PROPOSAL OF HYBRID STRUCTURE USING CLT PANELS AND STEEL BEAMS AND VERIFICATION OF SEISMIC PERFORMANCE BY SINGLE FRAME TESTSJun 20, 2025AIJ Journal of Technology and DesignRina Takahashi + 4 more +4CLT walls-steel beams hybrid structural system with steel plates and large-diameter bolts for the joints was proposed to accelerate promotion of mid-rise timber buildings. A full-scale static loading test was conducted on a partial frame consists of a steel beam and a CLT wall derived from targeted four-story building designed using the proposed hybrid structural system. From experiment, high average shear stress of 1.5 N/mm2 in CLT panel and ductile deformation capacity until story drift angle of 3% were observed.Read moreCiteListenSave

Research Article10.3130/aijt.31.764IMPROVEMENT OF ESTIMATION FORMULA OF NATURAL PERIOD OF STEEL LATTICE TOWER FOR POWER TRANSMISSIONJun 20, 2025AIJ Journal of Technology and DesignTakeshi Nakamura + 1 more +1Although the seismic design of power transmission towers in Japan is not stipulated by law, the design standards on structures for transmissions JEC-5101 published at the end of December 2023 requires seismic design based on the story shear force method. It requires estimation of the natural period to calculate equivalent static seismic load, but the current estimation formula calculates it only from the tower height, and there is a need to improve its accuracy. In this study, the natural period estimation formula that can be applied to steel lattice tower for power transmission is proposed.Read moreCiteListenSave

The Mitsui Main Building block redevelopment plan, which was applied to the Important Cultural Property Special Type Specified Block System, was taken as a case study. The purpose of this study was to summarize the contents of the study leading to the determination of the planning area at the initial stage of planning. In addition, regarding the selection of the design system, the process leading to the establishment of the special block system for important cultural properties was also summarized.Read moreCiteListenSave
Research Article10.3130/aijt.31.675RESPONSE PREDICTION AND PERFORMANCE EVALUATION BASED ON EQUIVALENT LINEARIZATION OF HIGH-RISE BUILDING WITH HYSTERETIC DAMPERS AND VISCOUS DAMPERSJun 20, 2025AIJ Journal of Technology and DesignKohei Soeta + 1 more +1In a high-rise building with a large bending deformation, the damping performance of middle to upper dampers may be deteriorated. To improve the deterioration of damping performance, a “combination-system” (High-rise building with hysteretic dampers and viscous dampers) is proposed. However, there is very little research on a response prediction method for “combination-system”. This paper presents a response prediction method and performance evaluation for “combination-system”. Accuracy of this prediction method is validated by comparing the predicted values with the time history analysis results. The performance curve is derived through the calculation process of the prediction method.Read moreCiteListenSave
Research Article10.3130/aijt.31.1023DEVELOPMENT OF COLLABORATIVE ONLINE PLATFORM FOR URBAN DESIGN WORKSHOPSJun 20, 2025AIJ Journal of Technology and DesignToshihiko Abe + 2 more +2Recently, online platforms for urban planning have been developed. However, although there are examples of their use in urban-scale planning, they have not been fully utilized in district-scale town planning, which involves the development of public spaces such as station-front spaces and parks. The aim of this paper is to develop an online platform to support citizen participation workshops in district-scale urban planning. We will clarify the effectiveness of a system that enables the accumulation and updating of data examined by administrators, citizens and experts at workshops and other events in the development of public spaces.Read moreCiteListenSave
