The present study provided spatial patterns of leukemia incidence in relation to climatic-geographical factors in Khuzestan province; Iran, based on descriptive-analytic research. The research subject was all leukemia patients from cancer Registration population, based in Khuzestan province. The climatic factors were mapped by using Arc GIS software version 10.3 was used. The f inding based on 1648 patients with leukemia had shown that the average age of them was 39.611.28 years old and percentage of Male and female was like 58.8% and 41.2% respectively. The cumulative incidence rate of leukemia among the population was estimated 36.36/100000. The highest and lowest annual incidence rate was 8.2/100000 in 2012 and 6.05/100000 in 2011. Hot and high-risk spots of leukemia in Khuzestan province were Ahvaz and Behbahan.

is one of the most common bacteria that is usually transmitted between humans and animals. Among the animal source foods (ASF), the presence of the spp. in poultry meat has been extensively reported, while the consumption of undercooked meat is the most important means of transmission of this bacterium to humans. Hence, determining the prevalence of and in poultry meat and byproducts through the bacteriological and molecular methods was the pivot of this research. This descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted on poultry carcasses collected from the slaughterhouses of Jahrom-Iran. The presence of spp. in the samples was checked through bacteriological and molecular methods. Obtained data were analyzed by SPSS-16 on the descriptive statistics level. In the bacteriological examination, 0.91% and 3.98% of the samples were found to be infected with and other spp., respectively. In the molecular examination, 9.8%, 1.2%, and 0.9% of the samples were found to be infected with and other spp., respectively. Thus, it was concluded that the prevalence of the Campylobacter species in poultry meat, Jahrom is lower than their prevalence in the poultry meat in othercities of Iran and othercountries.

Quality of life (QoL) is one of the important health consequences that play an important role in the implementation and evaluation of health interventions.

Brucellosis is among the most prevalent zoonoses caused by Brucella, transmitted to humans through the consumption of milk and dairy products. Currently, the Rev1 (sheep) and IRIBA (cow) vaccines are in use to protect the livestock from Brucella in Iran, while the diagnostic methods include the culturing and serologic methods. In this regard, the molecular polymerase chain reaction (PCR) diagnostic methods are quicker, more precise, and more sensitive than cultures, offering higher specif icity than serology in the diagnosis of brucellosis. This research was an attempt at the PCR assay of the contamination of the milk from the livestock in Jahrom County, which had been vaccinated against the Brucella bacterium with the IRIBA and Rev1 vaccines. This research was a cross-sectional descriptive study carried out on 941 milk samples which were collected using the cluster random sampling technique. The Bioneer PCR Premix, Korea, was used to carry out the PCR. The overall contamination of the milk from the livestock vaccinated against the Brucella bacterium was 19%. The contamination was also 18% and 20% in the livestock vaccinated with the Rev1 and IRIBA vaccines, respectively. The f indings from this research are reflective of the presence of the Brucella species in the milk samples of the vaccinated livestock.

The present study was aimed at assessing the concentration of Arsenic (As) in groundwater and paddy soil of the Trans Indo-Gangetic Plain (TIGP) of India. Total arsenic in groundwater and soil was determined by Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS), and Inductively Coupled Plasma-Atomic Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-AES), respectively. The results revealed that approximately, 33% of the groundwater samples had arsenic (As) concentrations greater than the maximum permissible limit (10 g As L ) set by the World Health Organization (WHO). In paddy soil samples, 33% of the samples had As concentrations greater than the maximum acceptable limit for agricultural soil (20 mg As kg ) recommended by the European Community (EC). Arsenic concentration in groundwater was signif icantly and moderately correlated with As concentrations in paddy soil in TIGP region. Thus, groundwater and paddy soil of TIGP region can be the potential source of As in the paddy crops grown on these f ields. Proper mitigation steps should be implemented in those regions where As concentrations in groundwaterand soil of TIGP are higher than the safe limit.

Assessment of patient satisfaction can be a potential source of information to identify the crucial problems for designing suitable plans to serve healthcare properly. Therefore, the present study aimed to access the admission and discharge processes done to improve patient satisfaction via a descriptive, cross-sectional study conducted on 246 patients as subjects admitted to Peymaniyeh Hospital in Jahrom. Data on the demographic status and standardized admission-to-discharge survey report were collected for improving patient satisfaction were completed by the patients. Mean age of the participants in this study was 40 19.6. Analysis of f indings showed that overall satisfaction rate of patients was higher than average. No signif icant difference was found in average satisfaction rates in terms of gender, the respondent, the reason for visiting the hospital (the ward the patients were referred to), occupation, reason for selecting this hospital and length of hospitalization. However, there was a signif icant difference in satisfaction rates of the patients in terms of age, education, place of residence, lack of free beds. The results showed higher than average overall satisfaction of patients with healthcare services regarding admissionto-discharge processes.

Propofol is an intravenous anesthetic widely used in outpatient and short-duration surgeries for rapid recovery. Pain during injection may cause discomfort in some patients. Several medications have been suggested that reduce the severity of pain during propofol injection. The present study aimed to compare the effect of intravenous injection of paracetamol, dexamethasone, pethidine, lidocaine, and ketamine on propofol post-injection pain in patients undergoing elective surgery, following a double-blind randomized clinical trial on 306 patients aged from 18 to 65 who were candidates for elective surgery. Patients were divided into six groups each group consisted of 51 individuals. Mean age of participants in this study was 31.9 +/- 9.5 out of which 209 (68.3%) were males and 97 (31.7%) were females. Lidocaine and paracetamol revealed the highest pain-free parameters among other groups. Pain severity was also less in lidocaine and dexamethasone groups than other groups. Finally, lidocaine was seen to be the most efficacious analgesic in reducing pain from propofol injection and could be safely advised for propofol-induced pain relieve.

In the recent years, new airway preservation and maintenance equipment are used through general anesthesia, such as Laryngeal tube suctions (LTS) and classic laryngeal mask airways (c.LMA). We compared their function in airway preservation and maintenance of patients through general anesthesia using controlled ventilation. This study is based on a randomized clinical trial where 83 patients aged between 16 to 65 were selected in a supine position with class I and II A.S.A. Patients were classif ied in two categories; LT.S (43 patients) and c.LMA (40 patients) groups by 4 block randomization method. Both groups were anesthetized with the same method (general anesthesia). After that, one of the mentioned equipment was placed for each group and their ventilation qualities, placement speeds, peak airway pressures, leak airway pressures, and complications were compared. The estimated ventilation qualities, using two SPO and ETCO indicators, indicated no signif icant difference between two groups.. Leak and peas airway pressure in LT.S group was statistically higher than cLMA group in each zero, three, and f ive minute times. Among the estimated values of complications, sore throat, dysphonia, and observance of blood on the device in LT.S group revealed higher values than cLMA group. Conclusively, both the LT.S and cLMA devices could be used as safe airway equipment. However, peak and leak airway pressures and complications of LT.S group were higher than cLMA group.
