In this article, we propose to investigate the theme of death in Teixeira de Pascoaes' poetry.Taking into account his vast work, comprising five decades of literary production, between verse and prose (philosophical), we will take as object of analysis the work O Doido e a Morte, from 1913, with the objective of arguing that the existential finitude in Pascoaes' work, it emphasizes less a dialectic of death and more a "coincidentia oppositorum" between death and life, making the theme one of the main lines of force of his poetic-philosophical thought. With this, it will be necessary to place our investigation in a space of "in-between", between Philosophy and Literature, which helps us to delimit a philosophical-literary hermeneutics of death in Pascoaes. It is hoped, therefore, to demonstrate the ontological nature present in the poetry of this author who establishes himself as one of the most significant names in 20th century Portuguese literature.
