Periodontal disease remains challenging to manage because adjunctive antioxidant therapies are not well-standardized forroute of administration or dosing relative to scaling and root planing (SRP). Therefore, it is of interest to evaluate SRP alone, SRP plus topical CoQ10 and SRP plus intrasulcular CoQ10 at 150 sites in 50 patients with chronic periodontitis over 4 weeks. Plaque Index, Gingival Index, Modified Sulcular Bleeding Index and Probing Pocket Depth were assessed at baseline and follow-up in all three groups. All groups showed significant improvement, but Group 3 (intrasulcular CoQ10 + SRP) demonstrated the greatest reduction in probing pocket depth, from 6.52ą1.07 mm to 3.67ą0.28 mm (p = 0.000). Thus, intrasulcular CoQ10 + SRP is superior for periodontal regeneration opening new adjunctive antioxidant therapy pathways.

Management of panfacial fractures lacks standardized multidisciplinary pathways and variability in coordination, surgical sequencing and airway planning may contribute to delays and postoperative complications. Therefore, it is of interest to assess if a structuredmultidisciplinary team (MDT) referral system leads to an improvement in process and outcome measures versus usual care where patients are referred sequentially. A comparison of a single-center cohort with two different treatment strategies; primary outcomes were time-to-definitive fixation and major postoperative complications. Secondary outcomes were airway strategy, prolonged hospitalization, reoperation rate and functional occlusal alignment at 3 months. MDT pathway was found to lead to reduction in time to definitive management and less complications advocating the use of structured-multidisciplinary workflow in panfacial trauma services.

Adequate bone volume ensures implant stability so this study was done to evaluate the accuracy of ridge mapping using a bone caliper, stone cast, CBCT and direct measurement for alveolar ridge width determination in dental implant treatment planning. The study included 25 edentulous patients (aged 30-55, both genders). Buccolingual ridge width was assessed by Ridge Mapping, Split Cast and CBCT. Each technique was compared with direct measurement via surgical flap exposure (Gold Standard). Four sets of readings were recorded. Statistical analysis included mean, standard deviation and two-way ANOVA test. No significant differences were found among the three methods. Ridge mapping by bone caliper was most reliable, followed by CBCT and split cast technique. All three methods are equivalent to the surgical gold standard and can be used interchangeably.

Paediatric functional constipation is a common functional gastrointestinal disorder that significantly impairs health-related quality of life (HRQoL), yet its psychosocial and school-related impact remains under-recognized in routine clinical assessment. Therefore, it is of interest to evaluate the health-related quality of living (HRQoL) in children with functional constipation by using verified child and parent-reported tools and compared results to healthy controls that were age-matched. A cross-sectional, clinic-based sample was analyzed using standard scoring methods and inferential statistical data to compare groups along with severity and intensity gradients. Constipation-related children showed significant lower total HRQoL and psychosocial scores as well as greater symptom burden scores than controls and had the lowest HRQoL being observed in those who suffer from frequent painful defecation as well as fecal incontinence. Thus, we show the importance of routine HRQoL assessments in conjunction with symptom evaluation to provide a comprehensive treatment plan and monitor the response to behavioral and pharmacologic treatments.

The optimal method of intrathecal fentanyl administration with hyperbaric bupivacaine remains uncertain, as premixed and sequential techniques may influence block characteristics differently. In this prospective observational comparative study, 42 ASA I-II adults (21 per group) received fentanyl 0.5 ml with hyperbaric bupivacaine 2.5 ml either premixed or sequentially. Sequential administration produced faster sensory onset at T10 (5.00±1.37 vs 6.48±1.32 min) and motor onset (6.10±1.37 vs 8.00±1.30 min) with longer sensory and motor regression times. Time to first rescue analgesia was also longer (205.33±12.08 vs 175.38±14.41 min), suggesting earlier onset and prolonged block with the sequential technique.

The extent of bioceramic sealer penetration into dentinal tubules following root canal obturation remains insufficiently validated using combined analyses on the same sample with scanning electron microscopy, confocal laser scanning microscopy and ion nano-complex evaluation. Therefore, it is of interest to investigate the extent of penetration of a bioceramic sealer into dentinal tubules after the use of various final irrigants and evaluated ion nano-complex formation. Mandibular incisor teeth were instrumented, divided into four groups based on the final irrigation protocol and obturated with gutta-percha and a bioceramic sealer tagged with a fluorescent dye (Fluo-3), followed by evaluation using confocal laser scanning microscopy and scanning electron microscopy with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. Although statistical analysis did not reveal significant differences among the groups, Twin Kleen demonstrated superior performance in multiple comparisons. The HEBP component of Twin Kleen, due to its compatibility with sodium hypochlorite and its ability to reduce debris accumulation and smear layer formation, may contribute to enhanced sealer penetration.

Pregnancy-induced anemia, primarily caused by iron deficiency, poses significant risks to maternal and fetal health, especially in developing countries. Oral iron therapy is commonly used but has limitations due to poor compliance and gastrointestinal side effects. Therefore, it is of interest to compare the efficacy and tolerability of oral versus intravenous iron therapy in pregnant women with iron deficiency anemia. Results show that intravenous iron significantly improves hemoglobin levels more effectively and with fewer adverse effects than oral iron. This study advances knowledge by highlighting intravenous iron as a superior treatment option for rapid correction of pregnancy-induced anemia.

Psychosomatic oral manifestations in children are often overlooked, despite their strong association with underlying psychological stress and anxiety. This cross-sectional study evaluated 100 pediatric patients aged 6-16 years to determine the prevalence and pattern of stress-related oral conditions. Findings showed that 68% exhibited at least one psychosomatic oral manifestation, with significantly higher rates among children with moderate and high anxiety scores. Common findings included bruxism, aphthous ulcers, parafunctional habits, temporomandibular disorders and psychogenic pain, all strongly linked to elevated stress levels. This study advances existing knowledge by highlighting the need for integrated psychological screening in pediatric dentistry to improve early detection and management of psychosomatic oral conditions.

The increasing radiation exposure from computed tomography (CT) scans raises concerns about patient safety, necessitating the comparison of radiation dose parameters across different CT scanners. This study compares the Dose Length Product (DLP) and Computed Tomography Dose Index (CTDI) values between the Somatom Definition Flash and GE Revolution CT scanners at AIIMS, New Delhi. Our findings reveal that the Somatom scanner consistently operates within international Diagnostic Reference Levels (DRLs), while the GE scanner shows significantly higher radiation doses, particularly for chest and abdomen scans. This research advances the understanding of CT dose optimization and highlights the need for scanner-specific protocols to ensure radiation safety.

Perimenopause is a critical phase in a woman's life, marked by hormonal fluctuations that often lead to sleep disturbances and increased anxiety. These symptoms can significantly affect a woman's quality of life, making effective interventions necessary. Therefore, it is of interest to assess the impact of aerobic exercise on sleep quality and anxiety levels in perimenopausal women. After a 12-week intervention, results indicated significant improvements in both sleep quality and anxiety in the experimental group. The study advances understanding of non-pharmacological interventions, suggesting aerobic exercise as a valuable tool for managing perimenopausal symptoms.
