This collection is dedicated to the memory of Professor Shigueo Watanabe who passed away on September 26, 2023, at the age of 99. Following this foreword, there is a detailed biographical note written by two former students that gives a broad view of Shigueo's life and accomplishments. The assembly of this collection of papers was received with enthusiasm by many people that had the opportunity to interact with him. More than tributes and recognition, Watanabe's message was one of tenacity and modesty, dialogue and humility, and persistence and credibility, an incessant quest to share knowledge and transform lives. Prof. Shigueo Watanabe is a constant and perennial source of inspiration for future generations of students and researchers. It is difficult to add more facts about such a dedicated person with such a prolific career. The only thing that comes to our mind is an image from a Japanese film by Akira Kurosawa. He is famous for his works "Seven Samurai," "Rashomon and Other Stories," "Living," etc. "Madadayo" was released in his later years, and the outline is as follows. The character Hyakken Uchida, a high school teacher, was so memorable to his students that even after his retirement, they visited him frequently. This was different in Shigueo's case; he used to go to the Physics Institute every day until he was 95 years old! During the various phases of Japan's history, this teacher suffered from the hardships of war and other problems. His house is completely destroyed during an air raid during the Second World War, and his students work hard to get him a new home. But what moved him most were the visits during his birthdays. On these occasions, his students would usually ask: "Madadakai"? Are you ready? In the sense of being ready to die. To which the teacher emphatically replied: "Madadayo"! Not yet! At the age of 99, Shigueo could no longer say Mahdadayo! But he will survive through several generations of students that he advised. Shigeo is survived by his wife Renate, a mathematician, two sons, and two grandsons. 2 Biographical Note: Shigueo Watanabe, a Superb Professor 2 On April 4, 2014, a Friday, Brazilian physicist Shigueo Watanabe celebrated his 90th birthday, doing what he loves most: working, or more precisely, teaching a postgraduate class at the Institute of Physics (IFUSP, www. if. usp. br) of the University of São Paulo (USP). Up to the age of 95 years, he regularly visited his lab, from 9 am to 4 pm, with a short lunch pause at home, just 2.2 miles away.
