Individuals who suffer a stroke may present in its chronic stage a clinical picture of musculoskeletal changes, balance deficits and hemiparesis. Hemiparesis generates disabilities in the motor and social spheres, as this muscular alteration reduces the quality of gait, mobility, and increases the risk of falls, directly impacting the social roles of these individuals. This study aimed to investigate the correlation between the risk of falls and the social participation of chronic hemiparetic patients. This is a cross-sectional survey with a convenience sample, containing 10 participants. The research demonstrated a significant correlation between the risk of falls and the Recreation and Community Life domains, with the first p=0.000 and the second p=0.015. It is concluded that chronic hemiparetic individuals are at imminent risk of falls and, as a result, their social participation is restricted, requiring greater care when accessing public, cultural, commercial and outdoor environments.
