A procedure for the synthesis of the LaCo1/3Sb5/3O6 layered oxide with a rosiaite structure has been developed. The method is based on the hydrothermal treatment of coprecipitated sediments with their subsequent annealing. The resulting material has proven to be an efficient catalyst in the CO oxidation reaction. This result confirms the prospects of using compounds with the rosiaite structure in oxidative catalysis reactions.

The possibility to synthesize titanium phosphate from crystalline titanium salts has been shown for the first time. Optimal synthesis conditions have been found to provide preparation of monophase product of composition Ti(HPO4)2 · H2O or TiO(OH)H2PO4 · 2H2O by heterogeneous reaction of titanium-containing precursors with phosphoric acid. The process has been found to proceed for 3–5 h at stoichiometric consumption of the components and provides more environmentally benign and profitable conditions as compared with the known methods of synthesis.

New ruthenium complex 3,3-(Ph2P(CH2)4PPh2)-3-H-3-Cl-9-Me-closo-3,1,2-RuC2B9H10 (1) and its derivatives 3,3-(Ph2P(CH2)4PPh2)-3-Cl-9-Me-closo-3,1,2-RuC2B9H10 (2), 3,3,8-(Ph2P(CH2)4PPh-μ- (3), and 3,3,4,8-(Ph2P(CH2)4P-μ- (4) have been prepared from nido-carborane ligand [5-Me-7,8-C2B9H11]– containing methyl substituent in the lower belt of basket. The obtained substituted ruthenacarboranes retain geometries and steric configurations of the metal atom typical of unsubstituted analogs, but are characterized by lower values of the Ru(II)–Ru(III) redox potential. The high efficiency of the resulting derivatives as catalysts for controllable methyl methacrylate radical polymerization has been shown.

Foundations of technology for multicomponent recovery of useful components from titanium-bearing placers of the Ariadnenskoe deposit by pyrohydrometallurgical methods were investigated. Ammonium sulfate and thiourea–thiocyanate leaching solutions were successfully used to isolate titanium dioxide, gold, and a wide range of associated high-tech metals from the concentrate material. The experience gained in deep processing of gold–ilmenite mineral raw materials will help to more reasonably outline the ways to develop the Far East complex deposits in compliance with the principles of rational nature management and environmental protection.

The review is devoted to the analysis of the currently available data in the field of the molecular organization of multiarm stars, macromolecules-particles characterized by the dualism of macromolecular and colloidal properties. Until now, the question of the predominance of polymeric or colloidal behavior for such objects remains open. The distinctive properties of multiarm stars—very low intrinsic viscosity and the formation of monomolecular micelles—are determined by the peculiarities of their molecular organization. The appearance of dendrimers as the initial branching centers made it possible to create a representative number of objects, and this allowed one to study the property–structure relationship for this group of objects at a new qualitative level. The results obtained are important for studying the factors that determine the “anomalous” behavior of macromolecules-particles, such as dendrimers, nanogels, and dense molecular brushes, and provide an important experimental basis for theoretical understanding of the behavior of these objects as a function of their structure.

An original local-potential morphometric algorithm for information-entropy estimation of the impact of technogenic chemical pollution on forests was proposed. This algorithm is distinguished by a procedure of separation of binary objects—pixel clusters (simply connected, tightly packed sets of white and black pixels)—in satellite photographs by a potential transformation and a procedure of estimation of the changes in the local configuration of pixel clusters by calculating the information entropy for the virtual potential of models of the interaction of pseudoparticles (white and black pixels) of the binary image. This enables one to practically estimate the spatial disturbances in forests by the impact of technogenic chemical pollution using point statistical estimates of the geometric indices of clusters. The proposed algorithm differs from conventional ones that determine the boundaries of binary objects by statistical analysis using co-occurrence matrices or point statistical estimates of the configuration of pixels.

It was experimentally shown for the first time that compact samples of pyrophoric nickel nanopowders can be passivated in air for 3–5 s. The passivation of the samples was confirmed by the absence of noticeable heat release during slow heating to 200°C, an insignificant oxygen content according to the data of X-ray powder diffraction analysis and scanning electron microscopy, and the retention of the chemical activity of the samples. The uniform distribution of oxygen throughout the sample suggests the volumetric nature of their interaction with air during the passivation. The critical conditions for heating of passivated samples under which ignition occurs were determined.

The dependence of the level of antimicrobial activity of some ammonium isatin-3-acylhydrazones on the sterical hindrance and electronic nature of substituents in the benzyl moiety was elucidated using simple molecular descriptors and quantum chemical calculations. The structure and electronic nature of substituents in position 1 and the lipophilicity of compounds of this series were shown to be the key factors determining the activity.

A promising method for the synthesis of a new class of macrocyclic phosphorus-containing tri- and diperoxides was developed. The method is based on catalytic ring transformation reactions of heptaoxadispiroalkanes, pentaoxacanes, and pentaoxadispiroalkanes with phenylphosphine followed by oxidation of the reaction mixture with H2O2.

Water-soluble terpolymers of 2-deoxy-N-methacryloylamidoglucose, methacryloylacetone, and methacrylic acid have been synthesized by the of radical copolymerization method. It has been shown that they form luminescent complexes with terbium ions in aqueous solutions. The luminescence intensity depends on the ratio of the components and remains constant in the presence of CaCl2 and NaCl. These terbium-binding terpolymers can be the basis for the creation of both luminescent probes and radioactive pharmaceuticals where a short-lived γ-emitter 161Tb is used for cancer ratiotherapy.
