A new replacement name Velarifictorus (Pseudocoiblemmus) trapezoideus Gorochov, Dawwrueng et Vitheepradit, nom. n. is proposed for Velarifictorus (Pseudocoiblemmus) borealis Gorochov, Dawwrueng et Vitheepradit, 2025, nom. preocc. from Thailand [non Velarifictorus (Velarifictorus) aspersus borealis Gorochov, 1985 from Northern China]. Thus, a new synonymy is also established: Velarifictorus (Pseudocoiblemmus) trapezoideus Gorochov, Dawwrueng et Vitheepradit, nom. n. = Velarifictorus (Pseudocoiblemmus) borealis Gorochov, Dawwrueng et Vitheepradit, 2025, syn. n.

An annotated checklist of Elateridae of Tyumen Province (including the Khanty-Mansi and Yamalo-Nenets autonomous okrugs) based on the study of collection materials and literature data is given. Seventy species of click-beetles from 37 genera of 7 subfamilies are now reliably known from the region. Fourteen species are recorded for the first time in Tyumen Province, and 5 of them are recorded for the first time in West Siberia: Adrastus pallens (Fabricius, 1792), Agriotes medvedevi Dolin, 1960, Ampedus karpathicus (Buysson, 1886), Oedostethus similarius Dolin et Medvedev, 2002, and Cardiophorus asellus (Erichson, 1840). Fifty-six species of Elateridae are recorded in the south of Tyumen Province; 30 and 46 species are recorded in Yamalo-Nenets and Khanty-Mansi autonomous okrugs, respectively. The bionomics and distribution of click-beetles in Tyumen Province are discussed.

The weevil Phyllobius oblongus (Linnaeus, 1758), previously not recorded from Kyrgyzstan, was found in the northeast of the country, where it may have been introduced early in the 21st century. Similar to the native part of its range, the species is a pest of fruit crops in Kyrgyzstan.

The complex of ixodid ticks infesting the northern red-backed vole Myodes rutilus Pallas, 1779 in the West Siberian Plain was studied. Seven species were distinguished as parasites of this rodent: Ixodes persulcatus, I. apronophorus, I. trianguliceps, I. pavlovskyi, Dermacentor marginatus, D. reticulatus, and D. silvarum. The quantitative parameters of the tick populations were studied from the herb-bunchgrass steppe to the northern taiga subzones. Ixodes persulcatus and I. apronophorus were widespread over the entire territory studied. The distribution optima of ixodid ticks associated with the northern red-backed vole lie in the subtaiga, where their high diversity and abundance were recorded. The lowest quantitative parameters of the ticks were characteristic of the northern taiga subzone. The northern and southern boundaries of the taiga tick range in the West Siberian Plain were clarified.

The psyllid Livilla ulicis Curtis, 1836, previously known in Russia only from Moscow Province, was discovered in the Chavash Varmane National Park, the Chuvash Republic of Russia.

Bat flies (Nycteribiidae) were collected during bat ringing in Vladimir Province in 2016–2023. A total of 1308 bats belonging to 11 species were examined, and 3 species of bat flies were found on them: Basilia nattereri Kolenati, 1857, Penicillidia monoceros Speiser, 1900, and Nycteribia kolenatii Theodor et Moscona, 1954. The most abundant and common species was N. kolenatii.

A new species of plume moth (Lepidoptera, Pterophoridae), Agdistis zagulajevi sp. n., is described from Western Cape Province, the Republic of South Africa.

The origin of the common evolutionary branch of soft and hard ticks is dated to the Late Permian, approximately coinciding with the end-Permian extinction; the divergence of the common stem of Ixodoidea into the ancestral forms of Argasidae and Ixodidae occurred in the Triassic. The ancestors of the common branch of Ixodoidea (Ixodidae, Argasidae, and Nuttalliellidae) were non-bloodsucking arthropods closely resembling the extant Holothyridae. Bloodsucking and, later, temporary ectoparasitism appeared only after divergence of the main branches of Ixodidae, Argasidae, and Nuttalliellidae, independently in each group. At early stages of the soft tick evolution, bloodsucking was a brief process, while prolonged feeding developed later in their larvae and promoted dispersal. Preservation of short-time feeding can be explained by adaptation to dwelling in bird nests or in shelters visited by birds, and later, also in mammal burrows. The shift of the gnathosoma onto the ventral surface of the idiosoma prevented combing of the parasite from the host during bloodsucking. Short-time feeding resulted in preservation and development of coxal glands as the main organs for removal of excess liquid during bloodsucking. Adaptation to living in shelters (nests, burrows, rock crevices, spaces under dead tree bark, etc.) promoted development of polyphagy and the ability to survive long-term starvation.

The paper describes the method and algorithm for creating maps of hydrolandscapes to solve practical tasks of predicting and controlling the abundance of common bloodsucking insects, such as horseflies and mosquitoes. The hydrolandscape method consists in dividing the regions into zones based on the source, distribution, and storage of moisture as the most important ecosystemic component. The method evaluates the influence of insufficient or excessive moisture content on the activity of amphibiotic insects. Hydrolandscapes unite the landscapes that are similar in moisture content, relief, mesoclimate, soils, vegetation, and groups of bloodsucking insects. In this paper, we describe the experience of applying this method to different regions of Northwestern Russia: Novgorod, Leningrad, Pskov provinces and the Komi Republic. The hydrolandscape method provides the means for predicting the species composition and relative abundance of bloodsucking insects in remote areas before their economic development.

Findings of Haemaphysalis japonica douglasi Nut. et Warb., 1915 in Irkutsk Province are described. This ixodid tick species is uncommon to the Baikal Region.
