The correlation coefficient (r) between the meteorological parameters and the gross biological productivity of the most common mycorrhizal mushrooms was determined. The results can be both of theoretical and practical importance.

Korean species of the genus Myelochroa are revised taxonomically and the following eight species are recognized: M. aurulenta (Tuck.) Elix & Hale, M. entotheiochroa (Hue) Elix & Hale, M. galbina (Ach.) Elix & Hale, M. hayachinensis (Kurok.) Elix & Hale, M. irrugans (Nyl.) Elix & Hale, M. leucotyliza (Nyl.) Elix & Hale, M. metarevoluta (Asahina) Elix & Hale and M. perisidians (Nyl.) Elix & Hale. Myelochroa ibukiensis K.H. Moon et al. is reduced to a synonym for M. aurulenta. Myelochroa denegans (Nyl.) Elix & Hale, M. indica (Hale) Elix & Hale and M. xantholepis (Mont. & Bosch) Elix & Hale are excluded from the lichen of Korea. In addition, a key for the species of the Korean Myelochroa is provided.

Korean species of Achyrolimonia, Dicranoptycha and Helius crane flies (Diptera: Limoniidae) are taxonomically revised. Identification keys, redescriptions and illustrations of all species and both sexes, if they were found in Korea, are presented. Genus Achyrolimonia is new record for the Korean peninsula, genera Dicranoptycha and Helius are new records for South Korea, species Helius (Helius) obliteratus (Alexander, 1920) is new record for the Korean peninsula and new record for the continent. Illustrations of females of D. diacantha Alexander, 1938 and H. gracillimus Alexander, 1938 are provided and female of D. prolongata Alexander, 1938 is described and illustrated for the first time.

The Apiaceae genus Daucus consists of approximately 25 species (including carrots) which are characterized by the presence of bracts in pedunculate umbels, dorsally compressed mericarps, hairs on primary ridges, and uniseriately arranged spines on the secondary ridges of the fruit. Taxonomically, Daucus has been considered to be one of the most problematic genera in the Apiaceae due to the highly variable fruit morphology. Despite taxonomic controversy and economic importance of the genus, no rigorously constructed estimate of phylogenetic relationships exists. To examine generic limit and relationships among species of Daucus and its putatively related taxa, phylogenetic analyses of characters derived from nuclear ribosomal DNA ITS sequences were conducted. Two major clades emerged within Daucus, but neither of them have been previously recognized using morphological characters. The phylogeny also provides taxonomic status of recently reported new species of Daucus, D. arcanus and D. conchitae.

Candoninae is the most diverse group of freshwater ostracods with over 300 living species described from all around the world. However, only 11 species have been reported from South Korea. Considering abundant freshwater ecosystems here this number is very low. It is no wonder that newly collected samples of freshwater meiofauna often contain Candoninae ostracods which are new records for South Korea, or new taxa. Earicandona mounchyon gen. nov. sp. nov. and Typhlocypris (Pseudocandona) pratensis (Hartwig, 1901) were collected from two open freshwater bodies in Gangwon-do, and Gyeongsangbuk-do in South Korea. The new genus is most closely related to the breuili-group of Fabaeformiscandona Krstic, 1972. The most important apomorphic character of the new genus is a hemipenis with a poorly sclerified lobe g, and prehensile palps with more rounded dorsal margins. Beside the new species, Earicandona contains only E. okuboi (Smith & Janz, 2008) comb. nov. from Lake Biwa. This species was originally described in Fabaeformiscandona, fabaeformis-group. They differ mostly in the morphology of the shell, but also some details of soft body, including the more pronounced genital process in the Korean species. Typhlocypris pratensis was so far known from Europe and this finding significantly broadens its area of distribution. Both Typhlocypris and Earicandona belong to the tribe Candonini and the key to the genera of this tribe is also presented here.

An investigation of the karyotypes of two species of the genus Brachymystax (B. lenok and B. tumensis) has been done for the Russia Primorye rivers running to the East Sea basin, and others belonging to Amur basin. Based on the analysis of two species chromosome characteristics, combined with original and literary data, four cytotypes have been described. One of these cytotypes (Cytotype I: 2n=90, NF=110-118) was the most common. This common cytotype belongs to B. tumensis from the rivers of the East Sea basin and B. lenok from the rivers of the Amur basin, i.e. extends to the zones of allopatry. In the rivers of the Amur river basin, in the zone of the sympatric habitat of two species, each taxon has karyotypes with different chromosome numbers, B. tumensis (2n=92) and B. lenok (2n=90). Because of the ability to determine a number of the chromosome arms for these two species, additional cytotype have been identified for B. tumensis: Cytotype II with 2n=92, NF=110-124 in the rivers basins of the Yellow sea and Amur river and for B. lenok three cytotypes: Cytotype I: 2n=90, NF=110 in the Amur river basin; Cytotype III with 2n=90, NF=106-126 in the Amur river basin and Cytotypes IV with 2n=92, NF=102 in the Baikal lake.
