The present paper attempts to explore the relationship between Gross Domestic Product Per Capita Income based economic measurements of people’s well-being in the form of happiness. The overall development of a country’s economy must be translated into people’s well-being and happiness, which the study focuses on using the relevant data. The secondary data of the Human Development Index, Gross Domestic Product, Per Capita Income, and Happiness Index for the last 20 years have been collected and analyzed. To assess the psychological aspects of the happiness concept, the relevant happiness indicators such as life expectancy, educational attainment, and index of economic freedom have also been estimated. The regression method has been used for this purpose. The results show a positive and strong relationship between Real Gross Domestic Product, Human Development Index, Per Capita Income, and Happiness Index. The study has indicated the effective association between the strategies and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of 2030 in the economy of Nepal.

In the quest to provide a better public transportation system in the Philippines, the government has implemented Department Order 2017-011, the major basis for the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program, which requires single jeepney operators to join transport cooperatives and limits jeepneys not older than 15 years to operate. However, up to the present, this policy initiative has yet to improve Cebu City's public transport system significantly, and it has already created various forms of exclusion. Anchored on Mayer’s (2014) theory on the problems of collective action and Mosca’s (1939) elite theory, this study assesses the collective agencies of jeepney drivers and operators in Cebu City and the constraints of such agencies in negotiating and shaping policy enforcement of the jeepney modernization program. This study utilizes a qualitative case study design incorporating secondary data with face-to-face interviews and focus group discussions. It illustrates that the combination of the informality of the jeepney transport sector in the country, the prevailing fragmentation within the sector - including divergent views and interests between traditional jeepney drivers and operators and their heterogeneities, and the discordant stances among different transport groups toward implementation vis-a-vis private sector-led groups - constitute as critical factors in constraining the agency of affected stakeholders in their attempts at resistance and collective negotiation actions. It argues that the agency of drivers and operators is effectively overwhelmed by such a lack of coherence and consistent deliberative approaches among its representatives in their negotiations with state institutions, which are bent on advancing neoliberal solutions to urban transport systems. This poses severe implications for what should have been a just transition for the grassroots sector in promoting sustainability.

The impact of music on subjective reporting of pain and anxiety has been increasingly described in medical literature. Multimodal methods of alleviating postoperative pain and anxiety, including the use of live or recorded music in perioperative settings, have been shown to improve patient-reported pain levels and, in some studies, to result in decreased opioid usage. The overprescription of opioids after surgery can contribute to long-term abuse or trafficking of medications, and the use of non-opioid medications, alternative methods of pain relief, and environmental/auditory stimuli offer new mechanisms to promote safe opioid prescribing while improving both pain control and patient wellbeing. Soothing music has been shown to potentially lower heart rate, blood pressure, and breathing rate. As pain is a subjective sensation that has complex neural pathways, it is important to evaluate auditory inputs and their impact on these pathways and the subjective pain response.

From World War II to the present, Latin America has participated in the current process of economic globalization to varying degrees. The Washington Consensus of the late twentieth century supplanted the region’s earlier model of state-led development and increased its participation in the global capitalist regime. However, Latin America has shown minimal participation in the current process of economic globalization since the late 2000s and, instead, espouses regionalization. Nevertheless, regionalization has proven to be an arduous undertaking in Latin America, especially with China’s increasing regional influence. Variations of benefits are discussed, and recommendations are offered. While the future of Latin America’s participation in the current process of economic globalization has yet to be determined, the region is aware of its toolbox to guide its development in the rest of the twenty-first century.

This study examines the discrepancies and underlying factors in access to healthcare resources regarding breast and cervical cancer for Latinas in a mid-sized urban midwestern community. A survey was conducted at clinics hosted by a local non-profit organization, and forty participants completed surveys for this study (n=40). Bivariate correlation analysis in SPSS determined that significant positive correlations were found between the subjects’ knowledge of the signs and symptoms of cervical cancer and their knowledge of the recommended frequency of receiving pap smears (p<0.01). Additionally, significant positive correlations were found between whether a subject had a primary care physician and their awareness of the resources available to them regarding breast and cervical cancer (p<0.01). Also, this study suggests that existing discrepancies in critical healthcare screening exist within the targeted community and are similar or worse than findings from larger urban regions throughout the US.
