Montenegrin literature, in the long course of its history, was often neglected when it comes to scientific research work, or was viewed as part of the national literature of neighboring nations, especially Serbian literature. Therefore, many writers, whose literary and artistic work deserves the attention of both readers and literary critics, remained on the margins of literary history or were talked about sporadically, with the shortcomings rather than the positive aspects of their work being pointed out. One of the creators from that period, whose literary work will be the subject of this text, is Luka Jovović. Jovović’s entire literary oeuvre includes only two collections of short stories. However, with their thematic diversity and storytelling skills, they represent a valuable testimony about the time, mentality and way of life of the Montenegrins, i.e. Paštrović, as well as a worthy literary insight into the peculiarities of Montenegrin prose from the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century

This paper presents and analyzes the correspondence between Archbishop of Bar Šimun Milinović and Croatian Glagolitic priest and linguist Dragutin Antun Parčić. It includes 26 letters exchanged between 1887 and 1895 which are part of publicly unknown segment of Parčić’s legacy, preserved in the Archive of the Croatian Province of Tertiary Glagolitic Franciscans at Ksaver in Zagreb. Cyrillomethodian topics of correspondence are apostrophized, primarily philological arguments concerning the choice of language and script for the fundamental (Croatian) Church Slavonic liturgical book – the Missal (1893). This study also supports previous philological and historiographical research results regarding the possible place of printing the Missal, its censorship, printing permission and some other peculiarities that characterized the process of editing and printing this fundamental liturgical book. Archival material studied in this paper is assessed as a valuable contribution to better understanding of Croatian Cyrillomethodian studies as well as Croatian-Montenegrin literary-linguistic and cultural-political relations in the second half of the 19th century.

Before becoming the bishop of Trogir in the eleventh century, Saint John of Trogir was a Benedictine monk in the monastery in Osor on the island of Cres, where he met the Ar­chbishop of Split, Lovro. These two names are recorded in im­portant historical documents of Kings Krešimir and Zvonimir. As a bishop, Saint John was active in pastoral activities and fo­unded a Convent of the Benedictine sisters, which continues to operate to this day as his spiritual legacy. Saint John of Trogir is recognized for promoting peace among citizens and resolving their conflicts. In 1105, he protected the city of Trogir from King Coloman, who was intent on destroying it. He performed many good deeds for Trogir, for which the people of Trogir remained grateful. He was chosen as the bishop of Trogir, and after his de­ath, he became recognized as a saint, even though there was no formal process of beatification or canonization at that time. The people of Trogir solemnly celebrate the feast day of their hea­venly patron, St. John of Trogir, on November 14th with a mass in Trogir. Another significant celebration in Trogir is „Primišće­nje“, commemorating May 4, 1681, when the relics of St. John of Trogir were transferred to the newly built chapel in Trogir’s cathedral.

The paper investigates lexical quantifiers that modify quanti­ty in the twitch divination (trepetnik) texts written in Glagolitic and Cyrillic scripts from the 15th to the 17th centuries (a Cro­atian, two Bosnian, a Macedonian, a Moldavian and a Serbian twitch divination text). The frequency of statements with quanti­fiers is studied, their semantic features analyzed, and the possibi­lity of establishing syntagmatic meanings in certain metonymic and metaphorical relations is explored. The research shows that the meaning of indeterminacy that characterizes the apodosis of a conditional sentence, as the basic structural element of the trepetnik, is also mapped onto the concept of quantity, so that the meaning of syntagmatic conjunctions in which lexical quan­tifiers occur is typically based on the concept of vertical orien­tation as quantity and the concept of abstract entities as limited sets that are typically modified by indefinite and proportional quantifiers. From a historical perspective, the foundation of the studied utterances in metonymic and metaphorical relationships related to body and space, especially to the sensorimotor doma­ins, but also a variant connection with the domains of time and emotions, is evident.

This study investigates the potential for sustainable development and cultural cooperation within the Sar-planina National Park, emphasizing the challenges of managing natural and cultural resources. The primary objective is to identify key structural barriers and pro-pose strategic guidelines to enhance sustainability and foster cultural collaboration. Utilizing a mixed-methods approach that includes a systematic literature review, ethnographic field studies, and participatory observation, the research seeks to clarify the social dyna-mics of local communities and their interactions with the environment. The findings indicate significant opportunities for developing sustainable tourism, biodiversity conservation, and promoting cultural heritage through revitalizing local assets, including traditional crafts and festivals. Additionally, the integration of winter sports is recognized as a crucial factor for economic development. However, ongoing challenges such as ecosystem degradation, socio-economic inequalities, and geopolitical tensions hinder progress. The study advocates for establishing partnerships between local communities and international stakeholders, emphasizing the necessity of integrating local knowledge with global cooperation frameworks to optimize resource management and ensure active community engagement in sustainable development initiatives.

The paper compares simple and complex verb forms attested in the text of four Passions of Christ from two Glagolitic codices: Paris miscellany Slave 73 (from the 14th century) and the first part of the Protestant New Testament (from the 16th century). Through examining the role of their co-authors and editors – Grgur Borislavić on one side and Stipan Konzul on the other side – the research explores the author's conception in under-standing the literary language of a certain period, movement or territory, particularly in the early modern age. By conducting comparative linguistic analysis, the study identifies interesting variations at graphic/phonological, morphological, derivative, syntactic and lexical levels. These variations include the rejuvenation of the present tense paradigm, imperfective and imperative derivational variations, preservation of the participle system and traditional dual forms, and differences in the frequency of complex verb forms and lexical usage between the two codices. The discrepancies have shown, understandably so, that the older manuscript of Paris miscellany predominantly uses older linguistic patterns. Therefore, it would be more intriguing to examine possible coordinated linguistic renewals and innovations that were (possibly) the result of authors' choices. Those were attuned both to the purpose of manuscript or printed text, but also to the considerable distinction between linguistic entities they belonged to: Čakavian–Church Slavonic amalgam and Croatian vernacular language, respectively.

Southeastern Europe and the Southern Caucasus share numerous similarities in the sociodynamic importance of their languages. This paper asks which features illustrate this and provides a few examples. We assume that internal and external factors always accompany standardization issues, minority language treatment, and geographic language distribution. Thus, we emphasize these similarities between Southeast Europe and the South Caucasus and analyze them from linguistic, cultural, semiotic, and political perspectives.

The Museum of Slavonia has been a significant cultural and communication destination in the city of Osijek since its inception in the 19th century to this day. An integral part of the Museum is the museum library, whose holdings, as it accumulated valuable items of cultural and historical, scientific and professional material, has grown over time and become a recent example of the promotion of the city of Osijek. During World War II, the old holdings of the library of the former Great Grammar School (gymnasium) was transferred to the Museum, and was thus saved from possible destruction and was incorporated into the Museum’s library as a separate unit. This paper deals with the analysis of the holdings and inventory records of the aforementioned Grammar School Library, and the results of this research confirm the fact that it has the character of a cultural and historical source and as such contributes to the promotion of the city of Osijek and its surroundings.

Radovan Zogović (1907–1986) was born in Mašnica, near Andrijevica. He completed his primary and secondary education in Berane, Peć, and Tetovo. A member of the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts, Zogović had his works translated into about ten world languages and was also active as a translator himself. He entered the literary scene around 1925, as an eighteen-year-old high school student from Berane.Zogović came from a poor peasant family, as was common in pre-war Montenegro. He completed the first four grades of elementary school in three different states: first grade in the Kingdom of Montenegro, second under Austro-Hungarian occupation, and the third and fourth in the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes. Due to his restless spirit and the fact that he came of age in a time of social upheaval, he was labeled a threat to the state and expelled from the gymnasium in Peć. He completed the eighth grade in Tetovo and then enrolled at the Faculty of Philosophy in Skopje—the same year King Alexander came to power. Zogović graduated in 1933 and soon began to engage intensively in various forms of writing during a period of major political, social, and ideological transformation. He published an almanac titled 1930 in the South. After completing his studies, he worked with Macedonian poet Kosta Racin to duplicate the newspaper Iskra, an act that led to his dismissal from his job. During his student years, he was introduced to Marxist literature, joined the labor movement, and became a committed communist.Prof. Dr. Sofija Kalezić, in her work Poetics of Radovan Zogović, offers a comprehensive insight into the writer’s creative output—an oeuvre that continued to grow despite sixteen years of social isolation, during which Zogović never stopped discovering new worlds through the written word.
