This article presents an activity carried out in a course on representation in a master’s degree in architecture, which aims to train students in the practice and theory of geometric transformation for the production of shapes, using a case study from contemporary architectural design: the folies of the Parc de la Villette.

The research focuses on the application of AI in the field of urban morphology. The research takes urban blocks as a case study and treats urban block-related high-resolution images as data. The aim is to train an AI model to automatically detect urban block to conduct further quantitative analysis.

This contribution deals with the late 17th century baroque church of San Lorenzo in Turin, designed by Guarino Guarini; it discusses the geometry and possible sources of the vaults of the church, including stellated polygons, raised oval arches and conical approximations to the oval intrados of these arches.

Over the years, many scholars have investigated how to make explicit the reasoning behind the theory of architectural proportions in Palladio.
