The aim of this study was to adapt the short form of Death Literacy Index (DLI-9) into Turkish and to examine its psychometric properties. This study has a methodological cross-sectional design. The study was conducted with a sample of 400 adults across Türkiye during October-November. Content Validity Index, Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA), Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), Convergent and Discriminant Validity Analyses, test-retest reliability, Cronbach's α-coefficient, item-total-score correlation, 27% upper-lower-group item analysis and Hotelling-T2 test were used in data analysis. In the EFA analysis, the scale consisted of 2 factors. The original two-factor structure of the scale was confirmed by CFA. CFA model fit values were found as CMIN/DF = 2.078, RMSEA = 0.074, RMR = 0.077, SRMR = 0.0455, CFI = 0.960, NFI = 0.927, TLI = 0.945, GFI = 0.946, and AGFI = 0.906. The total Cronbach's α reliability coefficient of the DLI-9 was found to be 0.84. This study indicates that scale is a reliable tool for evaluating death literacy in the Turkish population.

Interest in near-death experiences (NDEs) has grown across disciplines such as medicine, psychology, and literature, yet no consensus exists on their origin or nature. This study presents a bibliometric and systematic review of 775 articles published between 1977 and April 2025, using PRISMA guidelines. Data was extracted from the Scopus database and analyzed with the Bibliometrix package in R. Additionally, the Tree of Science method was used to map citation networks and identify core contributions and research fronts. The United States, the United Kingdom, and Belgium lead in NDE research. Methodologies vary widely, encompassing medical analyses of brain activity, psychological outcomes like reduced suicidal ideation, and narrative approaches identifying common language patterns. Findings reveal a fragmented theoretical landscape, emphasizing the need for integrative frameworks. Future studies should deepen the medical and psychological understanding of NDEs and explore their long-term impact on individuals' mental health and spiritual development.

With an acceleration of electric vehicle uptake, battery swapping services, which offer quicker energy replenishment than plug-in charging services, are becoming increasingly vital. However, the mass adoption of battery swapping services relies heavily on the establishment of adequate energy replenishment infrastructure to address customer concerns regarding travel costs, service availability, and waiting time. In this study, we explore the optimal deployment strategy for different generations of battery swap stations, where the battery swapping service provider has two options: an incremental deployment strategy, which involves constructing more current-generation stations over next-generation ones to achieve early expansion, or a leapfrog deployment strategy, which prioritizes building more next-generation stations on top of current ones to facilitate late expansion. Our results illustrate a two-sided network effect, (i.e., service-to-user effect and user-to-service effect), where increasing the number of current-generation stations can incentivize the deployment of next-generation stations. This cycle is referred to as forward infrastructure momentum. We also demonstrate a backward infrastructure momentum, indicating that the deployment of next-generation stations can also create momentum for the early establishment of current-generation stations, but this occurs if and only if the service provider is more strategic. Our research provides valuable insights for managers on pricing and deployment of next-generation stations. For instance, technological improvements could decelerate the pace at which service providers deploy next-generation battery swap stations. Continuous improvements in service speed offered by next-generation stations might motivate the service provider to prioritize immediate expansion by constructing more current-generation stations to leverage the user-to-service network effect to achieve profit-maximization. Such an expansion allows them to attract more demand with higher service price.

Aim: This study explores the relationship between death anxiety and attitudes toward organ donation among nurses and nursing students. Methods: A cross-sectional, descriptive, and comparative study was conducted with 619 participants-352 nursing students and 267 nurses. Data were collected using the Demographic Information Form, Death Anxiety Scale, and Organ Donation Attitude Scale. Results: Nurses had significantly higher death anxiety levels than students (p = .000) and showed more negative attitudes toward organ donation. A strong positive correlation was found between death anxiety and negative attitudes toward donation (r = 0.602, p = .000). Female and older participants reported higher death anxiety (p = .000). Participants with an organ donation card or prior blood donation experience exhibited more positive attitudes and lower death anxiety (p < .01). Conclusion: Professional experience may increase death anxiety, leading to more cautious views on organ donation among nurses. Educational programs should incorporate content on managing death anxiety and promoting organ donation, alongside psychological support for nurses.

This qualitative phenomenological study aimed to explore the mourning rituals and meaning-making processes of women who experienced perinatal loss, focusing on how cultural, emotional, and social contexts shape their experiences. Conducted between January-March 2025, the study involved eight women who were interviewed shortly after delivery and again via online platforms after the 42nd postpartum day. Data were collected using a semi-structured interview form and analyzed through content analysis. Three main themes emerged: "Perception of Loss Experience", "Cultural, Religious and Personal Rituals in the Mourning Process" and "Coping Resources and Support Mechanisms". Participants described engaging in traditional rituals such as condolences, prayers, and grave visits, as well as personal rituals like keeping items belonging to their babies. These rituals served as emotional anchors in their grieving process. The findings highlight the critical role of cultural, religious, and personal elements in shaping how women understand and cope with perinatal loss, underlining their importance in emotional healing.

Most patients dying in hospitals die outside of specialist palliative care, making healthcare professionals of all disciplines responsible for the care of the dying. This cross-sectional study assessed how burdened healthcare professionals on non-palliative care hospital wards are when caring for dying patients. Descriptive and inferential statistics (chi2 and t tests) were used to analyze the data. N = 201 healthcare professionals on ten non-palliative care hospital wards participated in the survey (four general wards, six intensive care units). Intensive care unit staff reported a higher total burden related to care in the dying phase than general ward staff (d = 0.41; p = .005). "High demands of caring for dying patients", "unexpected death", and "special relationship with informal caregivers" were the most severe and prevalent burden factors in healthcare professionals. Results show specific burden factors that should be prioritized when implementing interventions to reduce burden in healthcare professionals.

Near-death experiences (NDEs) are events reported by individuals close to death. This review examines the aftereffects of NDEs based on scientific literature from 2014 to 2024. Positive NDEs often lead to increased spirituality, reduced fear of death, a deeper appreciation of life, and greater compassion. In contrast, negative NDEs, though less common, can cause confusion, emotional distress, and lasting trauma. The subjective interpretation by those who experience an NDE strongly shapes its impact, influencing both personal growth and challenges in social or emotional integration. Health professionals should be trained to support individuals who have had NDEs, recognizing the psychological significance and potential integration difficulties. Additionally, those who have not personally experienced an NDE but are exposed to such testimonies may also gain emotional and spiritual insights. In summary, NDEs are impactful psychological events that warrant informed clinical attention and support to aid individuals in processing and integrating these profound experiences.
