The model uses two methods of curriculum integration: parallel and integrated thematic. In the parallel model, content area instructors teach their individual content separately integrating the subject matter whenever there is a logical connection between disciplines. Periodic integrated thematic units bring together the full range of the school's curriculum and allow students the opportunity to engage in deliberate, in depth integration. The combining of two integration options allows students to address content areas within a scope and sequence of skill development and to be exposed to key ideas and principles across disciplines. A year-long theme provides the curriculum focus for the study.Read moreCiteListenSave
