In recent years, human resources have become a central issue for senior executives in organizations as they try to increase the commitment and performance of their employees. The study aims to examine three of the most important employee attachments to the workplace, namely organizational commitment, collective efficacy and individual job performance, based on a multifocal research framework, while also investigating the mediating effect of organizational commitment. The methodological basis includes the foundations of organizational behavior and human resources management. The research data were obtained by the survey method with 171 respondents working for a port operator in Mersin, Turkey. The survey data obtained were evaluated on a 5-point Likert scale. Statistical calculations were performed in SPSS Statistics 24 software package. The research methods are quantitative and sociometric analysis; reliability and validity analysis were applied to the variables. The relationships between the variables were tested using the structural equation model. To assess the importance of the intermediary effect, the bias-corrected bootstrap method was used. Our findings have shown that collective efficacy has a positive effect on organizational commitment, and organizational commitment has a positive effect on performance. Organizational commitment was proved as having a mediating role in the effect of collective efficacy on individual job performance. The study highlights that employees need to be committed to their organizations, and the increase in performance should be triggered by giving place to collective work.

Within the agency theory, insider ownership is viewed as a tool for reconciling the interests of owners and the company management. In the new economic reality, the agent problem is of particular relevance due to the challenges that require eliminating risks to ensure companies’ performance. The article assesses the impact of insider ownership concentration on the economic performance of joint stock companies. Methodologically, the study relies on the agency theory, property rights theory and the concept of corporate governance. The research analyzes data on the corporate ownership structure of 68 largest Russian public companies in 2011–2020 and identifies the share of insider ownership in these firms. The methods of econometric modelling were used to evaluate the dependence of EBITDA on insider ownership concentration in the companies of various forms of ownership. To carry out econometric analysis, we apply regression models in two specifications – cubic and piecewise linear regressions. The research results prove that insider ownership has a positive effect on the performance of private companies in the concentration interval of insider ownership between 0% and 35.39%; above this threshold, the positive impact diminishes. For companies with state participation, no statistically significant impact of insider ownership on performance was found. Further research is supposed to develop a more detailed modelling method by including a wider range of factors that characterize the corporate ownership structure and expanding the empirical basis of the study.

In the last decade, ESG reporting has become an integral part of corporate disclosure in Russia. However, there is limited guidance about the determinants of corporate governance that affect ESG disclosure. The paper investigates the interconnection between board of directors’ characteristics and ESG disclosure in Russian public companies. Methodologically, the study relies on the agency and stakeholder theories. Descriptive, correlation and regression analysis were used as research methods. The sample includes the panel data on 34 Russian public companies, whose shares were traded on the Moscow Exchange between 2012 and 2021. We found that board independence, board diversity, and the presence of a sustainability committee had a significant positive effect on ESG disclosure. At the same time, the impact of the board size was predominantly negative. The findings proved that ESG reporting was mostly practiced by the largest (by assets) companies, while the indicators of profitability and risk were insignificant in the context of environmental, social, and corporate governance. The obtained research results can be used by business representatives as well as by legislators and regulators to improve ESG disclosure practices in Russian public companies.

The tourism industry that has developed in several constituent entities of the Russian Federation in the last three years contributed to the growing interest in its architecture. The article identifies the driving force behind change in the structure of the industry in the “new” tourism regions. The methodological basis of the study combines institutional theory (principally, the theory of transaction costs underlying the counterparties coordination mechanisms) and the concept of tourism product. The research methods of comparative analysis and in-depth interviewing were applied. The empirical data were retrieved from 29 interviews with representatives of the tourism business conducted between October, 2021 and November, 2022 in three constituent entities of the RF. The study demonstrates that the hybrid coordination mechanisms are most common in the “new” tourism regions. For instance, in Dagestan, the tourism product is created within vertical networks that unite partners at different stages of the value chain, while the selection of counterparties and the exchange of resources for this product to be produced take place within horizontal networks that enhance the efficiency of the industry. At the same time, as the tourist flow intensifies, there emerge some trends towards hierarchization (dealing with contractors as part of the firm) and a decrease in the role of horizontal networks in the functioning of the industry. Based on the results obtained, we can conclude that the process of hierarchization will be continued, while the potential associated with entrepreneurial networks is not used actively enough by both the business itself and the state.

Geographic market definition is an important element of antitrust enforcement in the framework of countering monopolistic activities and M&A (mergers and acquisitions) control. Incorrectly defined geographic market can lead to false conclusions about the state of competition. The main way to identify the geographic market is the SSNIP test, which, however, is not always applicable. The study presents the analytical approach to defining a geographic market based on actual data. The methodological basis of the study is industrial organization theory applied to antitrust. The proposed approach makes it possible to obtain empirically based conclusions about geographic market using statistical tests, such as the Elzinga-Hogarty test together with price action analysis (price correlation and relative price stability). The approach is tested using the case study of the cement industry with Russian producers’ participation in 2014–2020. Based on Rosstat data on monthly price dynamics and cement supplies between the federal districts, we prove that the cement market geographic boundaries were wider than one federal district for all the districts except the Far Eastern Federal District. The paper discusses the possibilities and limitations of the approach, such as the necessity comply with the requirements for the statistical properties of the studied time series, as well as full access to data. The study is vital for expanding the tools of relevant market definition applied in antitrust research.

. In the face of growing stress in the workplace, employers are particularly interested in management practices focused on maintaining the psychological health of employees. This study examines the effect of the perception of health-oriented leadership (HoL) on the well-being of healthcare workers who have severe psychosocial working conditions in order to increase interest in employee well-being and provide leadership with a central role in this regard. The paper examined psychological wellbeing (PWB), job satisfaction, and life satisfaction together while attempting to determine whether HoL directly and indirectly (via PWB) affected work and life satisfaction based on the JD-R model. The methodological basis of the study was the provisions of the human resource theory management and the theory of leadership. Data was collected from 187 employees (convenience sampling) of a healthcare organization operating in a province in Turkey with the survey technique and analyzed using the SPSS and Smart PLS software. The findings revealed that HoL affects job satisfaction and life satisfaction both directly and through PWB. Therefore, the perception of HoL increased PWB, which in turn increased job satisfaction and life satisfaction. The study ultimately deducted that it was important to exhibit HoL behaviors for employee well-being. Among possible directions for further research could be a longitudinal design of analysis, as well as expanding the sample by including private healthcare organizations and additional locations.
