Trends and Patterns in Primary Education Research: A Bibliometric Review of Instructional and Teacher Education Studies
In recent years, primary education has gained increased scholarly and policy attention due to its critical role in shaping foundational learning and long-term academic outcomes. This study addresses this gap by conducting a bibliometric analysis of 85 peer-reviewed publications from 2015 to 2025, focusing on trends and patterns in instructional and teacher education research within primary education. The primary objectives were to map publication output, identify key contributors and institutions, examine collaborative networks, and reveal emerging themes. Relevant data were retrieved from the Scopus database and subjected to bibliometric analysis through a combination of performance analysis and science mapping to visualise co-authorship patterns, keyword co-occurrences, and citation networks. Findings revealed a significant increase in research output over the decade, particularly after 2017, with notable contributions from both high-income and emerging economies. Thematic analysis uncovered four dominant clusters: instructional strategies, teacher preparation, curriculum reform, and inclusive education, with growing attention to digital pedagogy and equity since 2020. This study concludes that while the field has matured in scale and scope, international collaboration remains limited, and certain critical areas—such as gender-sensitive pedagogy and rural instruction—remain underexplored
Read moreIntra-Religious Rivalry on Hadith Exposition in Ilorin Emirate, Nigeria
Abstract Divergent views on Hadith exposition had been in existence since the Prophetic era. However, the Prophet resolved a myriad of theological and juristic differences among his Companions. The later generation experienced accretions due to strange ideology and sectarianism. Ilorin emirate Muslims had a similar experience of factionalism arising from divergent approaches to Hadith corpuses. The study explores the stages of Hadith development in Ilorin, consequences of intra-religious rivalry among Muslims and approach of the Ilorin Muslim factions to Hadith interpretation. The article appraises four selected Hadiths relating to theological and juristic polemics to curtail sectarian intolerance arising from the emirate. The article adopts an analytical method to unravel the polemics and relies on archive materials and oral interview for data collection and discussion. The article reveals that indoctrination of young scholars in Ilorin emirate had significantly influenced their Hadith exposition. Experts in the field of Hadith and Muslim preachers are enjoined to avoid sentiments in Hadith analysis.
Read moreIncreasing Parental Participation Trough Marketing Strategi in Early Childhood Education
Early Childhood Education (PAUD) plays a strategic role in shaping children’s early development, with parental involvement serving as a critical determinant of program effectiveness. This study examines the marketing strategies employed by TK Al Hikmah Muslimat NU Tuban to enhance parental participation in early childhood education. The findings indicate that clear market segmentation, positioning based on Islamic values, and consistent communication through digital platforms contribute positively to parental engagement in school activities. Despite these strengths, parental participation remains constrained by time limitations and persistent perceptions of parents as passive recipients rather than active educational partners. This study highlights the importance of developing flexible and interactive partnership models supported by digital communication to foster sustainable parental involvement. The findings offer practical insights for PAUD institutions seeking to strengthen parent–school partnerships through strategic marketing approaches.
Read moreIMPLEMENTATION OF ACTIVE LEARNING STRATEGIES WITH A HUMANISTIC APPROACH IN ISLAMIC EDUCATION SUBJECTS AND THEIR EFFECT ON STUDENT MOTIVATION AND LEARNING OUTCOMES AT SMP NEGERI 4 PALEMBANG
This research investigates the implementation and effects of active learning strategies integrated with humanistic pedagogical approaches on student learning motivation and cognitive achievement in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) at SMP Negeri 4 Palembang.. Data collection instruments included a 25-item motivation questionnaire (Cronbach's α = 0.976) and an 18-item learning outcomes test (Cronbach's α = 0.737), both satisfying validity and reliability requirements. Independent samples t-tests revealed significant between-group differences in learning motivation (t = -8.295, p = 0.000, experimental M = 112.58 vs. control M = 95.91) and learning outcomes (t = -2.677, p = 0.009, experimental M = 89.03 vs. control M = 82.21). Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA) confirmed simultaneous significant effects on both dependent variables (Wilks' Lambda = 0.461, p = 0.000, Partial Eta² = 0.539), indicating large practical effect sizes. The findings substantiate that integration of active learning strategies with humanistic principles produces coherent, synergistic enhancements in both affective motivation and cognitive achievement dimensions. Results suggest that pedagogical approaches addressing simultaneous cognitive engagement and emotional support facilitate comprehensive student development aligned with Islamic education's holistic philosophical foundations emphasizing character formation alongside intellectual growth.
Read moreClinical response stratification after scaling and root planning: creating an early monitoring model using indicators of periodontal risk
AIM. To develop an effective early-monitoring method grounded in periodontal risk factors and to categorize initial therapeutic responses to scaling as well as root planning (SRP). MATERIALS AND METHODS. In a prospective cohort study, the plaque index, bleeding on probing, and probing pocket depth were measured at three different appointments: the first visit (baseline), the first follow-up visit (FU1), and the second follow-up visit (FU2). Mean reductions from pretreatment were calculated, and the patients were classified as Poor responders (<25% BoP reduction with little or no PPD decrease), Moderate (25 to 49% BoP reduction or <1 mm PPD reduction), or Rapid (more than 50% BoP reduction and less than 1 mm PPD reduction). Using non-parametric tests and Spearman correlations, the impacts of cigarette smoking and age were investigated. RESULTS. SRP yielded clinically significant early enhancements in BoP and PPD at FU1, with further improvements noted at FU2. Smoking was associated with substantially diminished early BoP reductions and smaller PPD improvements. Age showed weak, non-significant correlations with early change. There were weak, non-significant relationships between age and early changes. CONCLUSIONS. Risk-based assessment is made possible by early re-evaluation following SRP. Age by itself is not a short-term predictor, but smoking status is an actionable early risk sign. The suggested paradigm encourages smoking cessation counseling and supportive care intensity customization throughout the early maintenance stage.
Read moreIntegrating deep learning and digital literacy into reading instruction to achieve SDG 4: A study in a high school EFL education context in Central Java
This study investigates integrating deep learning approaches and digital literacy into reading instruction to support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) among high school EFL students in Central Java, Indonesia. The study objectives were to evaluate the efficacy of deep learning-based reading strategies in improving students' comprehension, assess their digital literacy levels, and evaluate teachers' perceptions of integrating deep learning and digital literacy in EFL reading classrooms. One hundred seventy-eight tenth-grade students from three public high schools in Central Java participated in this study, which employed a mixed-methods sequential explanatory design. A digital literacy questionnaire and reading comprehension pre- and post-tests were used to gather quantitative data. Semi-structured interviews, teacher focus groups, and classroom observations were used to gather qualitative data. After using immersive learning methodologies backed by digital media resources, pupils' reading comprehension scores significantly improved, according to quantitative studies. There was also a high correlation between students' reading competence and their digital literacy levels. The qualitative data showed greater student participation and high comprehension of the text as observed by teachers accompanied by enhanced engagement, critical thinking, and autonomy of students in reading activities. These results substantiate the integration of deep learning and digital literacy into reading lessons. It raises both cognitive and affective dimensions in EFL contexts. The significant study about pedagogical innovation emphasizes the SDGs, teacher training, and curriculum support that sustain tech-enhanced learning environments in Indonesian secondary schools.
Read moreExploring the Relationship Between Shariah Education and National Identity in Nigeria’s Universities
This study examines the intricate relationship between Shariah education and the formation of national identity within Nigerian universities. As a country marked by religious, ethnic, and cultural diversity, Nigeria faces ongoing challenges in forging a cohesive national identity. The inclusion of Shariah-related courses in university curricula, particularly in institutions located in the predominantly Muslim northern region, raises critical questions about the role of religious legal education in a secular and pluralistic state. Using a multidisciplinary methodology that combines legal analysis, educational policy review, and qualitative interviews with students and faculty, this research investigates how Shariah education influences perceptions of citizenship, national belonging, and social cohesion. Findings suggest that while Shariah instruction can serve as a means of cultural affirmation and moral guidance, it also has the potential to either bridge or deepen national divides depending on how it is framed and integrated within broader academic and civic discourses. The paper concludes with recommendations for a more inclusive educational framework that respects religious diversity while reinforcing a shared national identity.
